This time in particular, the server Erika was just very unfriendly and looked like she didn't even want to be there. She made us feel uncomfortable and gave us very bad attitude. The food was very good, atmosphere was very lively, very short wait before being seated ( big plus) however the one thing that made everything outstanding was our server Precious! We had a very short delay before she came to our table due to fact she was helping out another server bringing out their order for a large group (team player!) When she was done with that she promptly apologized for the short wait (maybe 5 minutes wait) and we completely understood as we had witnessed her assistance and attentiveness to that group while assisting her co-worker. We ordered drinks right away and asked to for a few moments to look at the menu. Our drinks were at our table within minutes! I ordered two orders of bone in wings and for the first time ever in my my dining experience have I ever been asked how many extra dressingscI would like to have without having to ask for more!!! While we were making up our minds as to what we wanted to order we casually mentioned that we were quite hungry. The next thing we knew she brought out my wife's and one of my wing orders. She said she made note of our being hungry comment wanted to get some of our food to us so we could start eating while we waited for the other wing order (that really made my belly happy!!!) She was exceptionally attentive, had a great personality a was very engaged in conversation with us. It truly made for a delightful dining experience. Although I ordered the casamigos skinny margarita 3 of them and well none of the drinks have prices which is concerning and 3 margaritas I should have i don't know felt some affects of alcohol since I don't drink much and felt barely anything and after a crazy day week I was trying to relax and when I got the bill holy crap $13.25 each margarita that's insane probably because it's casamigos but that ruined it for me. 3 beers 3 margaritas 1 steak meal an appetizer a kids pizza and side of fries was about $150 definitely the drinks made it outrageous next time I'll be sure to ask the prices and you should too so you're not surprised at how much expensive the bill turns out. read more

Went on a Thursday to celebrate my Mom's birthday and was highly disappointed with our experience. Our first waiter did not enter our orders correctly, So we received incorrect orders. The second that took over for a break was our waiter for the remaining of the time did his best with what he took over and was very nice. Ever beer we tried to order was not available. My daughters chicken alfredo was so dry and lacked flavor we had to ask for more sauce. My husbands food was cold. We ordered 2 fish and chips and the fish were very oily and over cooked. Over all it was a horrible visit and a waste of money. When i took my daughter to the restroom we almost slipped the floor was so wet and there were no signs of caution. When we were leaving we almost had a fall by the steps there was a sign there but nobody was making to clean it up. Over all horrible way to celebrate Mom's birthday :( read more

I've been a loyal customer of BJ's in Oxnard since they opened in 2006, and they've never let me down--whether dining in or ordering curbside. The staff and management are always friendly, attentive, and professional. The food is consistently fresh and delicious, and on the rare occasion there's a hiccup, they handle it with grace and urgency. Just yesterday, there was a small mix-up with our order, and Duane, the manager, went above and beyond to make it right. His excellent service reaffirmed why we keep coming back. Last minute decided to celebrate a bday dinner during happy hour. We sat in the bar area & the booth we chose someone just had left. Immediately someone came over & cleaned it for us. Menus & drinks were served promptly & the young man who was our server was exceptional. Very attentive & checked in throughout our meal. I wish I had gotten his name. Also, brought my baby a complimentary snack, fruit & goldfish. That was very thoughtful, never had that offered before. Even the busser was checking in with us & clearing our table here & there. The appetizers & food were delicious. The only thing I didn't care for was my margarita. It was served in the same glass as a beer & halfway through the drink, it was watered down by all the ice-filled. I'm sorry to say that BJ's has really gone downhill and after years of being one of our favorite places for family get togethers, we've decided to call it quits unless they bring back their former quality standards. And when I say I've been a long time customer, I mean since the 90's when I first discovered BJ's in Westwood. Since then, our family has dined at BJ's in several other states even. The food, brews, customer service, and ambiance used to be fun and good quality and of good value. But since the time of the pandemic, as with so many other restaurants, it's obvious that BJ's has been trying to make up for losses and in so doing, cutting quality and service. Each year since, they have reduced this, taken away that, etc., while raising prices. Each year, I keep saying, this is temporary and they'll do better next time. But no. During our most recent visit on Father's Day, there wasn't even silverware on any of the tables when guests arrive. I guess the servers are supposed to bring out silverware along with food now, but it seems all the new hires are of such low caliber that they don't even remember to do that. They brought out our food, and we waited over 20 minutes just to get forks to eat with, AFTER we had asked staff twice. We would have asked staff more often, but most avoided eye contact when we waved at them. The servers seemed stressed and frustrated, though not at us, but at their work environment. Our server told us she had to stand and wait at the bar just to make sure the bartender made our drinks. Other staff had to bring out our food, with our server busy elsewhere. Our server seemed to try her best but just lacked experience and help. I asked what unsweetened drink was available and she had no clue. I suggested then an iced tea and she said she "thinks" it is unsweetened but not sure. I had to explain to her myself what is usually offered at BJ's. And observing the other servers showed us ours was not the only inexperienced one. This is topped with the fact that they no longer offer rolls with meals, not even with the kids meals like they used to, the condiment containers are now half the sized they were, refills on fountain drinks are not even offered unless we wave someone down to ask, they often run out of parmesan cheese for your pizza (yeah, right?!), and they even took away the crayons and coloring menu for the kiddos (it's now just a regular paper printout of just the food). Two stars now because our server did try to force a smile and because the food itself tastes ok. Sadly, cutting corners, reducing inventory, getting rid of little extras for customers, and losing experienced employees are all signs that a business is trying to stay afloat, even if it means sacrificing quality and customer care. But it'll eventually lead to loss of customers. read more

Been coming here for years!! Usually it's fine food is good, no issues. Earlier this year, we had the rudest waiter ever. I am not sure why but he was just awfully rude and his comments were offensive and he thought they were funny jokes. THEY WERE NOT especially when you see our young child was with us. I swear that throws me off, you are the face of the restaurant, least you could do if you are not smiling is pretend to be nice. The attitude on this waitress was definitely not hidden, we were patient and understanding. She seemed overwhelmed with everyone in the front waiting but hello maam it was raining. She was just rude and seemed as if she hated to be there. Our waitress was very very sweet. She is the reason of the 3 stars! We ordered appetizers and waited a normal 20-25 minutes and our appetizers came (deep fried pot stickers) and they were actually cold. The bottom was the only thing that was luke warm and everything was cold like it was just sitting there. We noticed how busy it was and let it go. Shortly after another couple sat right next to us, and even though their waiter may have been nice, we overheard and saw what would of upset us. They ordered their food and the waiter idk if it was to hot or if he lost his grip but he went to put the plate down on the table and kind of slammed it pretty loud as if he dropped it. He apologized and I did not see him return for a long time and then when he did we over heard him say "omg so sorry I feel I abandoned you guys I forgot about you guys" Who says that! The couple asked him for the check and left. They left so fast that we realized we didn't even have our food yet and we checked the time, we had already waited 34 minutes. No big deal...we waited another 10 min and at this time, we were more exhausted just waiting. It didn't help hearing the other couple complain and leave. We asked the waitress for our food to go and crazy how that works, our food was ready and boxed up but it was COLD. sandwich COLD, fries were luke warm. That means you guys are getting business after a hectic year. That's great. But. Why deter folks from wanting to be seated? She said it was a 60-70 minute wait and people kept turning away because of that. She gave us the same response and said the bar and the dining area were all full. My group and I stepped outside to figure out what we should do and decided to put our name down anyways. Well... she was not happy to see me back. She was slumped over the table with her iPad and gave me the worst look possible. It translated to "why are you here" and was very reluctant to take my name down. I haven't been to BJs in about 10 years and it's definitely as good as I remember. Our server Tiffany was AMAZING! She needs a raise for sure. She was so friendly and made sure we were taken care of. She was so sweet to my little boy' Literally the best server I've ever had! She also carded my mom for her drink and my mom said it made her entire day! We ordered the titos lavender lemonade & titos strawberry lemonade. They were AMAZING! You can barely taste the vodka! I ordered the steak, my mom ordered the guac burger, my son got the mini corn dogs, and his dad got the bjs kicking chicken sandwich. The steak is was very good. A tad dry but the flavor was there. The chick sandwich was good, and the only complaint was it needed more sauce but that can easily be fixed lol. My mom swapped the cheese on her burger and the kitchen did accidentally put the wrong cheese. Tiffany took it back and rung in a new one on the fly and the manager Bobby came over to let us know her food would be out soon. Bobby was equally as friendly and nice as Tiffany. I know large parties can be difficult for restaurants to accommodate on busy weekends, so it didn't surprise me when my pre-scheduled party was delayed upon arrival. The BJ's staff worked together to quickly get our party seated and taken care of and I really appreciated it, and it shows how much they value their customers! The pizzas were delicious, and the salads were tossed with all our favorite trimmings and gobbled up by all ages in our party. Our waitress kept 17 guests drinks topped off and was attentive and efficient with each and every person. BJ's helped make celebrating my 21 year old memorable, and stress free. 2/3 visits and the food hasn't been good. Today, I went for lunch and ordered the 8oz filet mignon (medium) with fries. Unfortunately, my steak came out extremely well done to the point that it was like beef Jerky, and the fries were cold and stiff. I would have sent it back. However, our server never stopped by to give me a chance. The only time I was able to get his attention was about 15 minutes after our food was dropped off for a refill, so I just ate it. My friends even committed about how dry and overcooked my steak was. I will not be going back after this being the 2nd time I've had bad food. So...food was great, as always, it's BJ's. Our server did fine. I believe her name was Stephanie. No complaints with her. But there is a weird dynamic in this BJ's. My wife and I both worked in the restaurant industry, waiting tables and bartending for many years, and we were both a little taken aback. My guess is it has to do with management...or mismanagement if you will. The food took forever, we ordered our desserts when our food arrived and still had to wait a bit after we were done eating before it came. We were seated right near the bar, where the kitchen entrance is, and the servers and management literally just "hung out" there. There were at least 4-5 people hanging out, shooting the breeze the whole time we were there. Sometimes probably about 8. I ordered a second beer when I had about a quarter of a beer left. I watched it be poured and set at the end of the bar to be served within about a minute or two. A minute or two more went by and I had finished my first beer, my beer was still sitting there. Still there are 4-5 servers and one manager just talking, literally around my beer. I sat there for another 5 minutes while the same servers and manager sat there talking around my beer before I walked up and asked if it was my beer and I could take it since no one was going to bring it to me. It was kind of pathetic. If that happened in any of the restaurants I worked at, heads would roll. From my observation, it seemed management in this particular BJ's is more concerned with being buddies with everyone than actually running the place. Maybe that's why they have a 2 star rating on Yelp. BJ's is usually awesome. This place was an exception. Managers manage. Do your job! read more
