Todays trip to bjs was not it. We got a table right away but it look like nobody wanted to attend us so after 30 minutes we got tired of waiting and asked one of workers if we were going to be attended or not. By the time they came to ask us what we wanted to drink we were all ready to order our food. I understand its a friday afternoon and its busy but you can tell the workers werent really doing their part as waiters. After a few minutes some of us needed refills but we had to call a separate waiter to attend us because we wouldnt see our waiter pass at all. When the food came by their was no silverware or napkins nd had to wait a few minutes to eat.. after all it was just a bad trip to bjs and honestly i can say i wont go back sorry. The food is always pretty good here. The problem is that the service is beyond slow. We were seated today and waited 30 minutes for someone to take our order. We literally had to go back to the front desk to complain. Eventually someone stopped by and wanted to take our drink order. After awhile we were told that we would be getting another waiter. Our order was finally taken. Unfortunately the waiter mixed up all the orders in the area and repeatedly brought things over that we never ordered. Finally the correct ordered food arrived. They obviously are not only understaffed, but also undertrained. I will think twice before going back to this restaurant in the future. read more

Last night we came for a night-cap and sat at the bar. The restaurant and parking lot wasn't overpacked (thank god) and the service was great! Wonderful service from the bartender. She remembered my friends by what they ordered a few months ago - WOW! That shows not only great customer service, but attention to detail. My boyfriend and I ventured into Oxnard late one night after spending entirely too much time being lazy in Ventura. What were we doing? Honestly, I don't remember. It probably involved some combination of watching wack comedy, doing our best sloth impressions on his couch, and me avoiding his cat like it was carrying the Black Plague. At any rate, we needed late-night food, and this was one of the few places that was open. We got there maybe a half hour before closing time, which I feel is all right. We wouldn't walk in 10 minutes before midnight or anything. We're not dicks, even if one of us has some pretty great man bits (Hint: It's not me.). We ordered our food, and since I knew the kitchen was closing and wanted a dessert that usually takes some advance notice, I asked if I should put in the order for it right then, with the food. The server was a doll and told me that I still had time, and that I could wait. Cool. It's nice to be able to eat and not feel rushed. The food arrived, and it was pretty forgettable. I know, I know. It's chain restaurant food. It's not supposed to be memorable. Anyway, I don't remember gagging, and I certainly didn't feel the need to give up on life while eating there (I'm looking at you, Crapplebee's). The food by itself would probably get 3 stars. Here's where things took a turn for the worse. After we'd gotten our bill, I was pulling money out of my bag to pay, and some scrotum-head security guard on a power trip walked over, swinging his flashlight and clearly mistaking himself for a big, swinging dick in the world of chain restaurant security. "Hey, you guys need to wrap it up, eh? We're trying to get home." Dude, who the fuck are you? Our server is the one busting her ass, and she's being WAY more patient and polite than you are. The Guacamole-bacon burger was delicious! BUT our order was delayed. Then we got home with our order to realize our Cesar salad's dressing was missing. Also missing was the sweet potato fries. Our chicken was so dry it was nearly impossible to chew so we didn't eat that. Our rice and quinoa was undercooked so it also ended up in the trash. Lastly, our pizookie was extremely hard too. We have been patrons of BJ's for years and have enjoyed delicious food and exceptional service. However, based upon our experience this past Saturday, we will no longer be dining at any of their restaurants. With every point of contact, from the hostess to several of the wait staff, we were treated with much indifference. Upon our arrival (which was around 4pm to beat the dinner rush), the hostess for the evening greeted us with a forced smile and then had us waiting while she took a phone call for several minutes. I have worked in the food and service industry in the past, and one very important thing I learned was to always first serve those who are right in front of you. A phone call can wait. When we were finally seated, our low-energy waitress provided us with lackluster service. I believe she had 3 small tables total, but was hardly attentive. We found it odd because she kept disappearing to the kitchen, but would return with nothing. And speaking of the kitchen, the food was truly disappointing. We were actually there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. My husband and I were so looking forward to indulging in some of their beautifully crafted beers, mouth-watering pizzas, and, of course, end our special night with a scrumptious pizookie! However, we should have known something was terribly wrong when we each received a dinner salad that was almost a third full of wilted, glassy-looking lettuce. We let the salad slide because perhaps it was just a fluke. But then, we received our hand tossed, thin crust pizza and we were so disheartened from the appearance alone. The pizza was sloppily put together with strands of partially melted cheese on top strewn across the top. Indeed, we found our pizza to be lukewarm at best and the taste was substandard. What happened to the BJ's quality we had come to know and love?! Suffice it to say, our anniversary dinner was not what we were hoping it would be. It was memorable, but unfortunately, not in a good way. We could have eaten anywhere we wanted, but chose BJ's based on our past experiences, the amazing food, and quick, friendly service. The management needs to be held accountable for the poor quality of food & the apathetic employees. So disappointed at what this restaurant has become. read more

Anytime we've come here we have gotten cold food. Yesterday we ordered take out on line. They called as we were leaving telling us they were out of turkey burgers. My friend told them give her a hamburger. We got there waiting, which I realize they are short staffed. My friend after 15 min. Went in for our food. Her burger was just OK and didn't get her fries? I ordered the brewhouse Philly, thinking I was getting a Philly cheese steak? No it was a French dip and cold. I only ate 1/4 of the sandwich, tough meat. We live not even 5 minutes away and cold? We try to support the restaurants near by but spending $36 for disappointment isn't worth it. I see a lot of reviews on here that aren't good, what a shame. read more

Went yesterday for lunch with the wife. It was busy, but not crazy busy. Service was slow, and our waitress took her break in the middle of a shift, at 12:45. Why they let anyone take a break during peak hour is beyond me. Ordered the chicken fried steak. Took a while to get it, and when I did, it was tough. The sauce had melted and the plate was hot, indicating it was sitting in the service window for a while (used to work at a restaurant). The menu description said the gravy was a pepper gravy, but it was like liquid and absolutely flavorless. My wife ordered her turkey cobb sandwich without tomato. But she could taste that it had been there, and they removed it (pregnant women can taste anything!). It was too busy to speak with a manager, but I've never had any issues with the BJs in Westlake. But I would probably look elsewhere the next time I'm in the Nard. read more

So unhappy with my experience at BJ's! I really REALLY hope a manager might actually be reading these comments. 1. 35 minute wait. Ok, I get that we didn't put our name on the list, and that it looks like all of Oxnard came to BJ's for grad dinner. The bar was packed, dining room packed, waiting area packed. Such a huge restaurant, how could it take that long to funnel people through?? 2. Not enough places to sit while waiting for a table. It's bad enough to have a 35 minute wait. Then you don't give them enough room to sit? 3. Our waitress was SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW. Now I understand why there was such a long wait. We were at that restaurant for 2 hours. Most of it was spent waiting on her to take our order, or bring us our check. 4. Our server took twice as long to bring us our beers since she could barely lift the pitchers. She walked like she was going to fall over at any moment. 5. Waitress hand-off. Who wants to switch waitresses half-way through? The first one was slow, the second wasn't much better because she appeared to have other tables under her watch. Once again, we got ignored. The saving grace was our food. I once went, they never gave me my water, or even took my order, after like 30 minutes, they took our order, it took another hour to get our food, and our food was cold. Horrible food, horrible service. I do not recommend this place. However I've been to other BJ's locations (Laguna Beach and Irvine) those locations are much better and serviceable. I gave this place another shot to celebrate after a confirmation ceremony. Came at 9:30pm it was pretty mellow not so crowded or slow. We got our waiter & the first thing he says is the little kid playing with his you is the most annoying sound in the world!! Anyways I decided to order pizza that I can customize(bbq chicken, pineapple, bacon) they said" there's no bbq chicken but I can put bbq sauce in top" which was fine. My brother ordered bbq chicken pizza with light cheese & extra bbq. While we waited for our food, 2 waiters have brought food to our table that wasn't even our order. A couple min passed by our waiter introduce our new waiter saying " this girl is gonna take over my spot cuz I've been here all day & want to go home" Finally got our food & they didn't put any bbq sauce on my customize pizza, my brothers pizza was extra cheese instead of light cheese & extra bbq sauce liked he ordered. So hard to give this place a really bad review. OK, the bad things about BJ's, very corporate, horrible location (strip mall, c'mon), and the people who frequent this are the archetype of Suburbanites. Good things about this restaurant, however bad some of their food is, they do have a big menu. So that's one star right here. Another hard earn star is the simple fact that they brew their own beer, I have to give recognition to that. As sad as that sounds, it is the only brewery in Oxnard, WOW. Beer is also unique! The third star goes for their service. Waiter we had today was awesome, not pretentious what so ever, very friendly, thanks Jeff, you made this restaurant fly tonight. This was our first experience at B.J's and I would definitely go back. Our friends had suggested going to dinner on a Saturday night (they have been before) and said we should probably go around 5:15 to beat the crowd! When we arrived there was already a crowd waiting for tables. So off we went to the bar with our little beeper for our (according to the hostess) approximate 20 minute wait. My hubby and friend had their blonde beer (not sure of exact name) and myself not being a beer loverr had a sip and it was pretty good! While we waited, we started thumbing through their huge menu with lots of selections. We were seated at a great large round booth located by a window in about 15 minutes. I highly recommend when you arrive for any meal, see if you can get a table serviced by Dillion. What a great waiter! He gave us a little run down of BJ's since it was our first time there and he seem to really like working for this company. Somehow the subject of root beer came up and he said they make a fantastic one. My husband asked for a sample and he ended up bringing two large glasses for each couple to share! It was very yummy. We ordered their hot wings and while they were a little spicy for me, the guys really liked them. My hubby ordered a thin crust basil and cheese pizza as he knew he would be eating at least 1/2 of my delicious barbeque chopped chicken salad - which was huge! The size of their salads put California Pizza Kitchen's to shame. My friend ordered their Italian deli salad (think that is what it was called) and she took at least half of it home. Her husband had the beef dip sandwich with huge delicious steak fries. Dillion came over several times to check on us and my friend jokingly mentioned ice cream would be great in the root beer. Not five minutes had passed and here came Dillion again with another "sample" root beer with a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream! She was in heaven. Dillion brought our check and said there was no hurry, just wanted to give it to us when ever we were ready. We felt no pressure to leave, even though there was a lot of people waiting for a table. We will definitely go back to B.J's as I really want to try their deep dish pizza, which is a one of their specialties. Sure hope Dillion will be working! read more

Usually I like the food and service at other BJ's chains but trying to make a reservation here was a nightmare. I understand that on Friday evenings things can get pretty hectic and I'm trying to be forgiving of that but my experience with this chain was very disappointing. I called about an hour in advance in order to make a reservation for 10 people and was told by the hostess that in order for any reservations to be made it must be done 30 minutes in advance. So I called 30 minutes later and was told that they could not book reservations for that time since my party was 10 or more. I informed that when I called earlier I was told I had to call 30 minutes before arriving. After expressing my disappointment with being told two different things I was offered to be put on the waitlist for that time slot but that they couldn't guarantee that I would have seats but they would keep me on the list until that time. So to add icing on the cake when I arrived I found out I wasn't even put on the list at all and had to wait just like everyone else to be seated. If you're looking for reliable customer service this might not the best place for you even if the pizzookies are yummy I rather attempt making mine at home read more

So after a first terrible visit we went back for a lunch, using a card they gave us from the previous fiasco. The meal was as I had hoped it would be, it was good. We were seated right away and our waitress was on point and very good, nice and professional. Our food came out quick, hot and tasty. The bacon cheeseburger was pretty good and the fries were great. Our experience this time was a world apart from the first time, which goes to show you everyone has a bad day every now and then. This review is mainly about the service that I received on Monday My friend and I stopped here to eat an early dinner. It was 6pm on Memorial day. We were seated right away which was nice. As we looked over the menus we noticed that no one has come to our table to even greet us or take a drink order. It took about 10 minutes for someone to finally come over and talk to us. He said that there was some confusion and he was sorry about the delay. Not sure how you get confused about people sitting in your section? but that's me... After we ordered our food, it didn't take that long for it to come to our table. The food was fantastic. Great flavor and it wasn't overly priced. Our waiter just took forever to do simple things. Getting us a to-go box, he forgot it twice. Asking for refills, took another 5 minutes at least. I don't think we will be going back anytime soon. read more

Clam chowder was salty and Chili was lukewarm Burned fries mixed in the calimari Fish and chips were greasy and the fries were limp. Not a great dining experience. It seems that the menu for that is somewhat different than the regular menu, and the food I picked up was smaller portions, and the pizza was so burnt it was inedible. I am very disappointed in tonight's service. Me and my spouse walked in expecting a great date night at our Lowkey fave spot, but it turned into the worse. The service was unbelievably bad, the fact that we walked into a 10 minute wait was only the start of the problems. Another couple stepped in behind us asking for a table and they were seated immediately. It seemed a bit racist, because we wasn't seated we had to wait compared to the couple that walked in behind us and was seated right away. The waitress was also horrible. When she brought our drinks to the table, my drink was the Alabama sunset, but tasted like straight rubbing alcohol. So I thought it would be better once I got the appetizer but I can definitely tell the spinach dip was 2 days old according to how burnt the top of it was. It was lup warm and lacked any taste. To make the night end worst, our food was brought to the wrong table and than the waitress decided to return the food to our table. With covid and everything else going around in the world why the hell would she gives us food off another table that it had been touched and tampered with. This was a horrible experience and I am glad to say I will never return. My rating is ZERO STARS. I was forced to put a star. read more

Terrible! Ordered for delivery and my order was received completely wrong! Ordered $70 worth of food and every item was missing something. I ordered 2 bbq chicken salads and the salads were delivered without any chicken, BBQ, or ranch. The poke appetizer also was delivered without sauce. Apparently if you ordered through grub hub the restaurant takes no responsibility. They provided me the wrong number to call. Also grub hub won't refund the delivery fee even when it was completely wrong. I paid $9.00 for delivery, and even when the order was wrong, they refused refund. read more

Waited at least fourth min and people that came after us were seated before us which is always annoying we ordered our food and drink at the same time to speed things up our appetizer came about half an hr later still no drinks . We always stop here any time we pass by Oxnard. I love the mozzarella and tomato salad perfect appetizer and the best part it's only $2. I also love the shrimp lettuce wraps delicious, light and tasty. Of course the beer is the best part. If I can label this review it would be called "packed"... freakin' packed! My girlfriend, my friend and his girlfriend, and I went to BJs on a Friday night. It was packed... at the waiting section!! The restaurant was absolutely packed. We were told the waiting time would be 45 minutes. 45 minutes isn't bad if there is a bar section to sit down at while waiting. However, their bar area is filled with typical suburbanites who refuse to go to any of the other bars in Oxnard. We were fortunate to find a table by the bar within 20 minutes of being there. It took us 30 minutes to receive our first drink and then another 20 minutes to get our food. The blonde beer I ordered was delicious. The pizza on the other hand had burnt crust and cheese which made it taste like one of those dry pizzas you get from gas stations. I should've asked if they had super unleaded gas and air fresheners. The best time to go BJs is during the week around 3-7 when the place is less than full and you can actually enjoy the food, beer and service. Since this is my first review of BJs I want to add that experience, if not, I would probably give my last experience two stars. read more

I like reading yelp reviews before i dine in at any restaurant only because i like to see whats the best entree to get. walking in, not greeted, and the host was not friendly at all, i was asking her about reservations... she SIGHED & looked at the comp... honestly, that irked me... like what? why are you working upfront w/ customers w/ that attitude? go wash dishes in the back.. & SIGH all you want there... anyways, we got seated by a diff host, he was friendly.. our server.... i understand, youre busy w/ other tables.. but he forgot a lot of things we needed.. we also asked, before our meal was even out, thinking it would be easier on him, so he didnt have to be going back & forth to our table.. guess not. nor was he even sincere about anything, no apologies, just set what we needed on our table and walked away.. than our server needed to go on break & we had another server... he was A LOT better, i think his name was jose or joe.. i wish i got his actual name, because he deserves to be praised! he was genuine & sweet. we let him know, we had a birthday & he said " birthdays mean everything to us here at bjs" thats a really sweet thing to say. he came back with a pazookie w/ a lit candle. food was mediocre, the strawberry splash was amazing! also, our original server was standing at the host stand & gave us no acknowledgment as we were leaving... we tip according to the service, so im hoping our 2nd server got that tip.. all in all, they need to work better in customer service at the host station. 2 stars, for the strawberry splash & our 2nd server... if it wasnt for those 2 things.. i would give this place no stars... read more
