I have Celiac Disease and I love eating at BJ's they are very careful with the preparation of my food. The margaritas are fantastic! I visited a BJ's Brewhouse in Layfatte, La and the food was terrible. We waited over an hour for our checks. This Bj's in Slidell is my favorite. We always get awesome waiters. I recently went with a very large group and our waiter David L. was great! He accommodated our entire group with fast and personable service. He brought the entire group the food we ordered correctly, normally with a large group someone's order will get messed up. However, this did not happen. Good food. Service is AWFUL! Seated at table, was 20 minutes before anyone approached me. Was not checked on once! Wished for condiments, more water, etc, never visited by waitress, to request. Proceeded to the hostess station to request bill. When bill was received, told the waitress I had to go, she proceeded to remove the dishes from my table, (ignoring my now, rush) returning in 15 more minutes with the bill. I would've liked to have more soup, did not order, as I feared I'd be there another 30 minutes. The husband and I were in the mood for something new so we decided on B.J's. We were sat down the server came over and we ordered our drinks and continued to look the menu over or book I should say the menu was so HUGE it felt like they couldn't decide what type of restaurant they wanted to be and just did everything. My husband order a buffalo burger and I settled on the shrimp tacos. Our food took forever to arrive and when the sever came to our table to refill out drinks she said sorry about the wait the health inspector is here so the kitchen is a bit on edge. We finally get our orders and it was a disappointment. I visited BJ Restaurant on Sunday, March 15th, 2020 at 4pm and was extremely disappointed. We have eaten here numerous times and absolutely love it but this time in SUCKED. The waitress was new (needs to prioritize what is important). The quality of food was not what we have had in the past. Both my daughter and I ordered the philly cheesesteak sandwich. Kids order pizza, and fish tacos. Our philly cheesteaks were awful. The steak itself was greasy and fatty, the bottom of my bun was soggy upon delivery to my table. To make matters worse they got orders mixed up in the kitchen and gave my daughter coleslaw with wasobi sauce (EXTREMELY HOT) and when she told the waitress the waitress said she would get another one, but proceeded NOT TO GET MY DAUGHTER WATER as my daughter kept telling the waitress her mouth was hurting and on fire. The waitress went to another table to give them there check and ignored my daughter. Our drinks were empty several times and again the waitress did not accommodate us. In addition, when they delivered my daughters sandwich French fries were missing and we had to ask for them several times. I noticed the manager walking toward the front of the restaurant and called him over to explain to him the AWFUL experience we had. In addition, this was a birthday celebration......he did take both of our sandwiches off of the check, but that did not compensate for the lack of service that we had. When leaving the restaurant a cook from the back came out with another waitress and pointed to my daughter like she did something wrong regarding sending the coleslaw back.....shame on them.......I will be trying other restaurant options in this area. So I give BJs another chance for lunch today. They have a really large menu and I have dietary issues so I can always find something there. I sit down by myself and wait for the waiter and wait and wait. The restaurant was not busy but eventually an uninterested waiter does show up and get my drink order. He returns eventually and I let him know I want to order since I'm on lunch. He takes my order of shrimp tacos and I say I know it comes with the grains but I want an order of French fries. I literally waited 45 minutes for the food to come out. I would have asked the waiter what was going on but he was no where in site. When he did bring the food, the tacos were stale - not crunchy, stale - like bendable. There were no grains just a few corn chips and a bowl of French fries that were the only thing edible. The whole time I was there a staff member was loudly flirting with a guy who came to pick up food so loud that it was hard to think. I felt like I was intruding on their date. Oh, yeah, I forgot- the lady that seated me called me baby and honey and I'm old enough to be her Mother. Everyone there needs training and the kitchen especially. If the food was good I could have overlooked a lot. The waiter took the brunt of my distress cuz that's all I could do but regardless of the menu it'll be awhile before I'll forget this experience. Brand new restaurant. There were tons of items on the menu. I ordered a Kale & Brussel Sprouts Salad. This salad includes blueberries, grapes, pepitas, cranberries, goat cheese crumbles, onions, cucumber and candied pecans. I ordered the salad with grilled shrimp on top, no pecans or cucumber, with balsamic vinaigrette. When the salad came out, it was missing pepitas, cranberries, goat cheese, onions AND the grilled shrimp. Plus, a different dressing was poured on top. Not to mention, my son's potatoes weren't sent out and our silverware was dirty. This was all very frustrating and I could tell I was about to get bitchy. HOWEVER, our server (Aaron C.), was a complete professional. He was personable and kind and actually took time to squat down next to the table to be eye to eye. He explained that the person making salads was brand new and didn't have the information needed to include the exact ingredients. He ran around and retrieved everything that was missing. Once I had all the ingredients to my salad, it was BY FAR the BEST salad I've ever had. I will most definitely be back. Hopefully, the new restaurant kinks will be worked out soon. We've been there lots of times. The ahi seared tuna salad is great! Tonight I ordered Parmesan crusted chicken (tasty but the crust was over cooked) the spinach and artichoke dip was cold in the middle and had to sent it back. The clam chowder was great. My boyfriend got the ribeye it was decent. We got the Mac and cheese couscous. It was good, but too thick. We had a side of the Brussels sprouts but they were burnt. Giving it two stars because it's normally great. Our most recent visit was atrocious. We got in fine, sat down at our table and ordered our drinks. I asked the waitress if I could sample a couple of beers and she said that would be fine, and we ordered our pizza and salad. About ten minutes later she arrived with two half size glasses of the beer I wanted to SAMPLE, along with a water for my wife and I. After a few minutes of talking with my wife about the size of the samples (which I did not consume), I flagged down the waitress and asked her how much they were. She informed me that they were $4.25 per sample! I've had free samples of the beer at this facility before, and they came in large shot glass size glasses. I then flagged her down again to tell her that I didn't want to pay for those because I just wanted to SAMPLE the beer. A good waitress would have recognized her error and offered them for free, but this waitress simply took them back and poured them out. Approximately 45 minutes after we ordered our food (we noticed the time due to the text that we received before to be seated), we received our salad, and 15 minutes after that, we finally received our pizza. After we finished our pizza, she came by and offered us our first refill of water. An hour later the waitress offered us our first refill... This may have been the most frustrating thing. We noticed other waiters and waitresses servicing their tables much better and faster. It was a very frustrating experience as we were both very hungry when we arrived, and it took them an hour to get our food and first refill of water. My family and I go to BJ's Restaurant all the time, we get carry out 3 times a week. Always have to wait for the food but we understand if they are busy. BUT Saturday 2/24/18 night was absolutely ridicoulous. We waited and hour and 15 minutes for 6 (well suppose to be 6 meals) we received 5. I will get to that. The table across from us ordered after us and they had already had their meals for about 10 minutes. So I went to check on ours, asked for the manager. He comes out and as I'm explaining to him how long and others were getting their meals etc. Our waitress walks pass me with our food. And then they manager says I'm taking the pork chop meal off, really why. Well they gave the last one away to someone else. Really so after waiting and hour and 15 minutes my family is getting their food and I have no meal. I said really that's all you are going to do and he says Yes. I said well IF I DIDNT GET THE MEAL YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT OFF. That's the most stupid's thing I ever heard of. So now I say what am I suppose to do while my family eats. My first time here I was with a group of 15 people. The server did everything she could to keep up with us and get our food to us. This was our first visit to BJ's. The food was good, however...the service was TERRIBLE. The waitress was extremely rude, bordering on hostile. We received a few eye rolls when we asked for anything. Never got a drink refill or offer for one. When we asked her about dessert, she seemed irritated, picked up our plates and slammed them on the table next to us while I was in MID-SENTENCE. The restaurant was not busy, and we didn't show up anywhere near closing time. I will not let this deter me from trying BJ's again. I will, however, be sure to skip the Slidell location. read more
