    A feast!

I'm kind of upset because I took only one picture when I should've taken 1 million, but I was so invested in my Mezcal delicious drink while dropping my face deep into my bowl of mussels. This took over an old location that I deeply hated and I am so happy that it was replaced with this establishment. Food is great. Drinks are popping. I saw a bunch of beautiful Black people. And whoever the young man is behind the bar with the glasses, I can't remember his name right now, but he had me rolling. He had such a beautiful energy, and it was absolutely infectious. I'm trying not to go back today because I know I'm gonna spend lots of money there. Honestly, it's worth it to me. Spend your dollars. Throw your coins. Get in there. And if you see me, buy me a drink!!

Came here for a quick cocktail and a starter. We got the Guava Spritz and the Aperol Spritz. I throughly enjoyed the guava spritz and the aperol was the perfect ratio of the Prosecco seltzer and Aperol. Some places just don't get it right.

Stopped by BKB Brooklyn Brasserie and had a really nice experience. It's a great neighborhood spot with a relaxed European vibe. Service was friendly and attentive without being over the top. The moules were excellent and the roast chicken was simple but really well done. And the Negroni was honestly one of the best I've had in the city. Smooth, balanced, and aged in a barrel. Definitely a place I'd come back to

Even tepid fries is asking for too much nowadays at many places. Countless dipping sauces to choose from too! It's a must go to for fries lovers. The fries are more like french cut fries (though I'm more of a shoe string kinda gal). These are actual fries too.. as in like 4 inches and none of this 1 inch crumbs a lot of places try to pull off There is a place in near where I live that is also a fry shoppe (nowhere nearly as good as Pomme Frites) that has options for different cuts of fries (but not all types are freshly cut). It would be cool to see an option for this that is all fresh cut, though it may not be feasible.

If you like…read morefries, or just want a nice snack to stroll around the streets with, then you're gonna like this place. This place is unfortunately a bit small but there are tables to sit down in front plus a touch screen menu to order if you don't feel like interacting with the staff. The Menu is vast with getting Frites starting from Regular to Double if you really want to share fries with. There's also the option to get sauces which is a must if you crave something to mix those fries in. I think I waited about 10 or so minutes after placing my order and my Belgium Frites were ready. I ordered the Truffle Frites. They are drizzled with Truffle Oil and garnished with freshly grated Italian Parmesan Cheese & Savory Herbs. I also got The Roasted Garlic Aioli which consisted of crispy roasted garlic, simmering onion & spices with a touch of anchovy. A very dangerous combo but I promise you; it's delicious. My first reaction was seeing that the person who put my fries in a paper cone. He filled the entire cone and then filled partly a second paper cone and layered it on top so it did not spill. Amazing! I was in shock of how much fries you get for just the regular size. The Truffle Frites were pretty much what you'd expect. Hot to the touch and the bite, it's crispy on the exterior a slight soft chew when you take a bite. It's really hard to complain when you get fries made to order and it's exactly how you want it to be. Did I even mention that they are also open till late too? This might be a fever dream if this was near me. Unfortunately, I'm a bit too far from NYC to visit this place often. But when I'm in the area; this is a must visit for sure!

I wish it wasn't just a special but a main stay because I'd definitely order that each and every visit. It was that good. I was apprehensive about the gnocchi since im not a big gnocchi fan in general but so many people have sung of it's praises so I decided to try it. Easily one of the best dishes I've had this year. The flavors were so perfectly balanced. It taste of the toasted sweet potato gnocchi was something I didn't expect but was pleasantly surprised. Kept it more simple for entrees because the starters were so rich and indulgent. We had the filet mignon and the steak sandwich. Both perfectly portioned and delicious. Ended with the stroopwafel cheesecake, it wasn't too sweet which was nice. The service was great, I love how the manger was so hands on and checking in with tables. There was an older couple nearby celebrating their anniversary and the manager came over and surprised them with a mini bottle of champagne and congratulated them. That really was so thoughtful! Definitely top tier care and service.

Big pot, loaded with flavor, and honestly enough to make you question ordering anything else. Seafood tastes fresh across the board, and the sauces actually matter here (not an afterthought). Bread basket is dangerous--crispy outside, and soft inside The vibe is classic Long Island "upscale but loud." Red booths, stained glass accents, packed room. Great energy if you're out with friends, less ideal if you're trying to have a conversation. It gets noisy--no way around that. Service was solid--attentive without hovering, which is what you want when you're juggling a pot of mussels and drinks. Only knock: it's pricey. But to be fair, you're paying for quality seafood and a pretty unique Belgian bistro experience (and a massive beer/cocktail program).

I ordered the carbonnade flamande, which is a beef stew made with Belgian beer. My friend ordered the Moules Frites. Normally I'd get the Moules Frites as well but I wanted to vary it up since I had seafood for takeout the night before. This was my first time having this beef dish. You could taste the beer in the beef stew but it wasn't too overpowering. Felt almost like a goulash. I was hoping for something with a bit more seasoning but overall, it was ok. The dish came with frites too which I was excited to try. They were crispy yet soft on the inside. I like my fries a little more skinny and crispy but these went well with the beef gravy on the side. Overall, the evening was pleasant but the food wasn't the best Belgian I've had, about a 3/5 for me. Just so so. Also, as a side note - They really need to work on their bathroom situation. The queue was really long for one stall and people were lined up the whole time we were there.

Jackie greeted us cheerfully. We came here for Moules Frites which we ordered and a glass of Sancerre to wash it down. Two large kettles were put down in front of us with plenty of mussels and a separate bowl of fries. Mayo and ketchup to dip the fries. I prefer mayo. We ate our way enjoying the meal. Dessert was vanilla ice cream with a sour cherry sauce and their signature chocolate mousse with strawberries and puffs of whipped cream. Both desserts satisfied immense. I recognized the mousse cups as I had bought them at Eataly. Jackie told us that they make the mousse and have an account with Eataly to sell it there. Laura and I enjoyed our lunch here. I also spied Jo Malone hand wash of English Pear and Freesia in the gender neutral restroom. Cafe D'Anvers is a cozy restaurant with both seating and a bar area. The fries were great but some crusty French bread would have been a good addition, to help soak up the flavorful broth. The Merguez sandwich was a miss. Despite the menu stating that it was served on a baguette (and picture on Yelp of other diners receiving the sandwich on a baguette), ours was served on ciabatta. Really, not the same thing. We did not say anything at the time but we would not have ordered it had we known. Total disappointment. Also, the person on our party that ordered this sandwich found the fries way too salty. Luckily, the attentive staff kept the water refills flowing. I doubt we would return to this restaurant in the future the next time we're in the area, despite the friendly and attentive service.

Wow, how have I not reviewed one of my favorite go-to spots in NYC yet!!??…read more I have been going to BXL Cafe since the mid-2000's and make a point of hitting it every single visit to the city. The first time, we stumbled into it during a snowstorm, seeking shelter after visiting Time Square with a group of friends, one of whom was in the city with us for his very last trip on this earth. He was very sadly dying of cancer and dreamed of being able to go to NYC one last time. May he be resting in peace. On my last night in the city, I suggested to clients of mine that we hit BXL Cafe and they were all willing and ready. Like every other visit, the service, drinks and food were all fantastic so I'm surprised by some of the 3-star reviews because this place is fantastic. This was a Thursday night and the place was absolutely mobbed. It was a bit of a squeeze getting to the table I reserved in the back where I joined my clients/friends of many years. Our server was awesome, very attentive, friendly, and put up with us trying to hook up our one single buddy at the table that night. She suggested we start with the croquettes and even though I had been raving about the mussels, some in our party ordered other things. No clue why! The mussels are always amazing. My clients/friends did enjoy what they ordered. The croquettes were very tasty; I believe my favorite was the ham croquettes. I didn't quite care for the shrimp croquettes, I mean, if I had to pick in the future. My go-to has always been the Thailandaise Mussels with coconut milk, lemon grass and curry. This has always been so awesome, I never stray from it. Sooooo good and a massive portion in a big 'ol black pot served with crusty bread and a big portion of fries. I guess my only complaint would be that while the fries are good and crispy, they aren't the traditional double fried in duck fat fries of true Belgian Moules Frites eateries. My favorite in this true Belgian way is the fries served at Wurstkuche in L.A. (of all places). These fries are absolutely heavenly and I'd suggest BXL (and The Back Abbey in Claremont, CA) set up a conference call with Wurstkuche so they can perfect theirs. Still, BXL Cafe is an absolutely wonderful stop and well, the beer on tap and by the bottle is always fantastic and fresh. Long live BXL Cafe! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
