The vibe is calm, good music, the lighting is dim (and honestly, there's just something about a dimly lit bar that makes everything feel right), and the drinks hit the spot. I came to BKB with every intention of ordering the salmon, but when I asked my waiter whether the Salmon or the Steak Au Poivre was better, he didn't hesitate "definitely the steak." I liked the confidence, so I went with it. Glad I did. The steak was on point, perfectly cooked with a rich peppercorn sauce. It came with a potato gratin that looked good but could've used a little more flavor. To finish things off, I tried the Gauffre Belge for dessert, and it was surprisingly good, sweet without being over the top. Overall, BKB is a solid neighborhood gem, good food, great drinks, and a fair price point. Most entrées run between $20-$33. Impeccable friendly service for brunch! Met a friend here for brunch, this was half way between most of us and she's previously used this as a place to meet with clients because it's so comfortable. Food was great, especially the frittes! My friend had mussels and frittes which looked great. BKB was aesthetically pleasing and provided an elegant, warm, and welcoming dining experience, perfect for a romantic date night or a simple casual dinner with friends. Victoria (Tori) took such amazing care of us throughout the entire night, she was sweet, warm, friendly, and her service was reflective of what exemplary service looks like! The other staff were also pretty on point and helped replace plates quickly without us asking, which we appreciated! Only thing that was a bit off was we got our complimentary bread late where it arrived alongside our main entrees and not alongside our appetizers to start our meal, which kinda overwhelmed us with everything coming all at once. Our appetizer, the chicken wings with creme fraiche dip was delicious and highly recommend, along with their crispy frites! Now let's talk about the entrees! The mussels, steak, and chicken stew pastry were all phenomenal with great flavors and I highly recommend them! However, there is room to make them even more amazing. The mussel were plentiful, fresh, and meaty; it came in a pretty tall pot, where the extremely flavorful broth only reached 1/4th of the mussels on the bottom, resulting in the top being a bit drier than we'd like, which is a simple fix! The steak was very flavorful and paired perfectly with the salad and potato gratin, but it could use a bit more peppercorn sauce since only the top pieces had the most sauce (as evident in the photo) that didn't trickle down to the other slices; another extremely easy fix! The chicken puff pastry was perfect in flavor and texture (though could use a bit more puff pastry), it just didn't really look that aesthetically pleasing as you can see from the photo, where it looks like just a blob; I believe a bit more pastry or a bigger piece of pastry on top can make it look more appetizing! Overall, we had a wonderful time thanks to Victoria and the manager's kind and welcome nature! Their food is very reasonably priced and its quality is top tier, with our critiques being quick fixes that can further elevate them easily! BKB offers such creative and delicious selections that I have no doubt they'll continue to surpass expectations moving forward! Will definitely be back to try their many other selections and I can't wait to come back to give them the 5th star I know they're capable of easily getting! I'm kind of upset because I took only one picture when I should've taken 1 million, but I was so invested in my Mezcal delicious drink while dropping my face deep into my bowl of mussels. This took over an old location that I deeply hated and I am so happy that it was replaced with this establishment. Food is great. Drinks are popping. I saw a bunch of beautiful Black people. And whoever the young man is behind the bar with the glasses, I can't remember his name right now, but he had me rolling. He had such a beautiful energy, and it was absolutely infectious. Stopped by BKB Brooklyn Brasserie and had a really nice experience. It's a great neighborhood spot with a relaxed European vibe. Service was friendly and attentive without being over the top. Wandered into BKB, a new French brasserie in the former Mama Fox space, and was pleasantly surprised. They had a delightful Sauvignon Blanc--Sancerre-adjacent (without the Sancerre pricing). The short rib sliders with horseradish cream I ordered were fire. I jealously eyed the mussels and shrimp linguine at the table next to me and ordered fries with one of their inspired dipping sauces. Service was on point--attentive without being overbearing. I love the updated long leather banquette and outdoor seating. Can't wait to go back and try more from the menu. My wife and I had dinner here tonight (Thursday), and it was such a great experience from the start. Before placing our order, we actually spoke with the head chef about the mussels--we were curious about the different sauces listed on the menu. It's not something we usually do (we're not fussy eaters), but the staff was so welcoming and informative, it felt completely natural. We went on to order two drinks, a salad, the Belgian starter, and two entrees. Everything was fresh and flavorful, but the mussels really stood out--exceptional quality, and we learned they'd just arrived that morning.
