Came for Valentines day dinner at 7:30pm. Was told there was a 30 minute wait. Was seated within 35. Venue was pretty big but not so spacious that you couldn't hear the patrons next to you. Decor was simple but chic. Can see a few scuff marks and scratches here and there. We were seated and greeted with a friendly smiling waiter. Ordered immediately since we looked at the menu while waiting. Apps : chicken curry puffs Entrees : pad se ew w/chicken & shrimp Tamarind duck Thai iced tea to wash everything down. Food came out relatively quick. The curry puffs were basically 4 little chicken empanadas, but w/soft fried dough. Delicious! The entrée portions looked a bit on the lighter side but ended up taking left overs. The noodles were definitely unique. Light, soft and slippier than other pad se eu noodles. The duck was fried to perfection, hardly any grease, almost no smell of duck, and right amount of salt. The tamarind sauce that accompanied the bird was not overwhelming or too tangy. Thai iced tea was nothing special, ive had better, had worse, and a few ounces more. Overall my experience was better than expected, especially for Valentine's day. Customer service was satisfactory, food was surprisingly good, comforting ambience, and appreciative pricing. Only thing, their silverware is heavily worn out and glassware stained. On a Saturday night, my husband and I ordered Spring Rolls, Drunken Noodles, and Beef Pad See Ew here for takeout. The orders were ready as promised when we got there. We dined in before and also ordered take out here before, but in my opinion the food is never outstanding, but average. I definitely had better drunken noodles and Pad See Ew before, and food is pricey here too. The beef in both dishes were a bit tough and there could have been more flavoring in the dishes. One of our go to Thai places to eat for lunch and dinner. Parking is great because they have their own private lot and if that's full we always find a spot around the block. Service is always wonderful and the dishes are tasty as well as the cocktails my mom loves to get every time we come with her. Our favorite dishes are pad wood sen, pad see ew, pineapple fried rice and the tom yum soup. We always ask for hot sauce and they bring out an assortment with pickled jalapeños, fish sauce, hot sauce, pepper flakes. Having a party here is also great for any occasion, they cater to everyone. Although the food was very good, the experience was not. There was a child in the aisle that would not stop yelling and nobody made an effort to control him. The staff should have said something to the parents. It was incessant. We said something to staff but nothing was done. Then after bringing our bill, someone came and said it was the wrong bill which they should have just let go as it was a difference of 10. which after having an interrupted and aggravating meal should have been considered an error on their part. It's ok. We ate here a few months ago and ordered a lunch special pad kee mao. I remember the ambience was nice, service was excellent, but the food was just ok. The noodles were salty and there was no depth of flavor. I ordered vegetable Pad Thai for takeout today and it was just ok. It was probably my least favorite Pad Thai I've had recently in the NYC area. The flavor was almost ketchupy(?) and the brown tofu they add did not add anything to the dish. LEFT HUNGRY So we get there around 5:43pm on a Tuesday night . Not crowded at all , about 7 tables in total including us. We place the order for one appetizers and 2 main course at the same time . Appetizers comes out within the next 5 mins , Great . Now 20 minutes pass and still no food they come and inform us it's on the way okay no problem . Thirty minutes later now I am wondering like what is going on , it only a Tuesday night . I flag down a server and ask her and she goes back to check but never comes back with an answer. Now 40 minutes have passed since the appetizer has come and our original server comes out to tell us it's coming and we are working with one chef only . At this point I pissed and hungry and ask for the check to cancel the order . I am ready to leave . While bringing a check for my appetizer, he tells me you don't have to leave the tip it's okay and hands me a 10 percent off the next visit coupon . I made a reservation here a week in advance for a friends birthday. When I walked in they said they had no reservation. Thankfully it was not busy and we were seated right away. That is the only con that I experienced here. Decor and atmosphere was very nice. We started with the Thai calamari, duck rolls and the Kanom jeeb which was shrimp & chicken shumai. All great choices. I had the Pad see ew which was pan fried rice noodle, broccoli, egg & sweet soy sauce, I added shrimp to mine. It was perfect. Just the right amount of everything. My colleagues brought me here to celebrate my upcoming wedding back in 2018. The food was delicious! I suggested that we hold our Christmas party here. We had our holiday lunch yesterday for 32 people. The food and service were fantastic. We had a buffet and they are so accommodating with regards to folks who have allergies or gluten free. The space is beautiful and spacious. What stands out is the service. The staff came by our booths to offer refills on soda and Thai ice tea. They were so friendly! They let us bring our own birthday cake and cupcakes and did not charge cutting fee. They even arranged our cupcakes on platters! That kind of service is rare in NYC! Usai (owner) and his wife are exceptional hosts. Thank you for a wonderful party. We will be back! Also, there is parking in the back. Ps. Get the curry puffs! So delicious! read more

I came to BKNY Thai with 3 others as we were on our way home from Long Island, NY around 1 pm. We wanted to stop by somewhere close to NJ and also something along the way rather than going somewhere completely out of the way. We noticed BKNY had amazing reviews and decided to check it out. The place from the outside looks like a hole in the wall tiny spot, but as you enter, it's spacious and huge! (Reminded me of an S Club 7 episode [yes, I'm that old] where one of the girls has to go to a random port-a-potty on the highway that costed $20, and it ended up being this grand luxurious bathroom.) Anyways, we sat down and ordered 3 thai iced teas and an order of spring rolls. The Thai Iced Teas were delicious and the spring rolls were tasty too but wished they gave us a few more. There were exactly 4 of us with 4 spring rolls. For our entrée, we ordered 3 Pad Thais (2 with Mock Duck + 1 with Tofu) and 1 Drunken Noodle. All were fantastic. Weird that this was my first check in on Yelp. I've been coming here for years! I love this restaurant ... large and roomy dining area, big bar area and TV's to match. And definitely great for groups ... Comfy booths / family style round tables with the lazy Susan / and intimate smaller tables for 2-4 groups. They're spaced apart enough to offer a very comfortable and semi private dining. Call ahead to make a reservation if you can, this place gets really busy at lunch time and prime dinner hours on the weekend. Onto the food: must try: Roti (chicken) and order extra bread, just because! If I could, I'd order white rice just to eat all of the curry. Green or Coconut Curry ... Love them both. Mild or Medium heat does the trick for me (I can't handle the heat but love curry). Vegetarian Duck with Basil, you'll never miss the meat. The basil completes the dish both in flavor and garnish. And I personally recommend the squid (any style). My favorite is the fried or Sauteed versions. Yummy. The must have drink is the Thai Iced Tea, ask for less ice to prolong the experience. You'll love it and drink it so fast, you'd be missing it before end of the meal. Plenty of parking in the rear and lots of street parking nearby if it does fill up. By far, thee worst service I've had in a long time! To start off, the waitress came over to ask if we wanted anything to drink. When we asked one question about one of the drinks she said "oh, you're not ready yet" and walked away for about 10 minutes. When she came back we gave her our drink order, and asked if we could put our appetizer order in...she asked if we were ready to order our entree and we said we had a question or two about a couple of the entrees that looked good on the menu, to which she replied "oh, you're not ready? Well, you have to give me your whole order now or I can't take it." She returned with three of our drinks after 12 minutes and my buddy had to go to the bar himself to retrieve his wife's drink order. We ordered both the appetizers and entrees...stupid on our part for not just leaving then but after waiting 30ish minutes for a table we figured we'd at least deal with the shoddy service for a good meal. Boy were we wrong! The food came out and it was terrible! The only thing that was half-way decent was the duck. On top of that, we had no utensils at all (no forks, chopsticks, etc.), so I found my way back toward the kitchen and had to help myself to four sets of utensils because we got tired of waiting and trying to get anyone's attention after 10 minutes. Oh, my buddy did pack the food to take home to see if even his dog would eat it. I'll post an update after I find out what the dog thought. I know there are a lot of good reviews on here (which is what led us there), so maybe it was just an off night and we drew the short straw for the rudest waitress in there. I've always ordered the Shrimp pad Thai but tonight I tried the pad see ew with shrimp And as I ate it I told my son I'll probably never order the pad Thai again. It was to die for. From the outside, it looks like a regular place, but the inside is fancy and can be a great spot to hold a large table party or small intimate meal. There was no one at the front when I walked in on Saturday at 6pm, but one of the waitress notice my party standing and waiting, so she escorted us to a free table. The place was already busy and starting to fill up. There's a bar in the middle, and the drinks menu are fairly priced. Ordered the Thai eggplant with chicken, pineapple fried rice, chicken skewers, and Thai ice tea. Everything tasted great and it was not overly drenched in sauce or salt. The Thai eggplant came with a side of regular rice and it had a bit of heat, but not overly salty to kill your taste buds. The chicken skewers come in 4 sticks of meat and two sauces; peanut and a lighter sweet dressing type of sauce. Service was very good, our waiter was very patient with us and followed up during the meal to make sure everything was okay. Waters and plates were taken with speed and finesse. The only complaint is that although their décor looks pretty good and warm, their bathrooms totally don't match it, but it was clean at least. As my party left, the place was already packed and crowded by 7pm Saturday. Would come back, but if you have a larger party, make reservations in advanced to guarantee seating and lesser wait times. Still kind of the best Thai food you can get in the very local area, owned and operated by real Thai folks. But, their prices just keep going up, making it harder to digest. The space is large with ample seating, though parking can be tight and difficult sometimes. This is my go to for Thai. Their pineapple fried rice with chicken or steak is bomb! It's always part of my order when I go there or do take out. I also love their pad see ew with pork, one of the waiters came to our table and asked if he could show me how to mix the different sauces to really bring out the flavor or the dish and I was super impressed. This is a lively Thai restaurant with a decent ambience. In the evenings, esp. on weekends, it is packed. The food is excellent and service as well. I also had lunch one summer in 2021 with parents and was a good experience and good price deal. I just got the green curry last night which was great but the medium spice was pretty spicy. My awesome Barista Cordell at Browny Coffee on Northern Blvd recommended BKNY Thai just a couple of blocks south on Francis Lewis Blvd. I then jumped on Yelp and saw the fantastic reviews from my friends TC, Krystal, Zaneta and Chris. Done deal! I popped in at 8 o' clock and there were 7 parties (2-7 people) ahead of me on the list waiting.The first thing that I observed was the lovely atmosphere with the dim lights. The restaurant was hopping and every time a waiter/ waitress went by with some food, it smelled and looked heavenly. The 2 lovely and I do mean absolutely cool, calm, energetic, sweet and very cordial hosts( & hostess) up front were Sai and Michelle who welcomed me graciously while juggling the list and some other hungry folks. Party of 1 no problem let's see if we can seat you at the bar if you don't mind! The bar was packed with about 12 bar stools with the Xavier Gonzaga game on TV. I ran to the very clean rest room and when I returned they actually found me a table. Very cool!! Michelle seated me and welcomed me again as she picked up the second place setting and brought over a carafe of water pouring me a glass.I looked over and noticed that the majority of the folks waiting had been seated too. Very efficient flow here!! My waitress was the one and only " Donut"; yup, that's her name and she was just the warmest and nicest person you could have ever met. Big smile too! I started with a lovely and fresh Thai Iced coffee and ordered the Tilapia in mild red curry sauce( red curry, coconut milk, kaffir lime leaf, bamboo shoot, fresh basil and bell pepper). Donut was on the ball as she clearly explained the different spice levels and recommended the mild for yours truly. I also ordered the jasmine brown rice on the side which was a $2 a la carte item. Scanned the room and saw a birthday cake being presented to a b day gal, families enjoying themselves and to my immediate right a cute couple out on their first " arranged" date as in the interview process before the arranged marriage was underway. I am a nosy baistahd and was loving the uncomfortable and formal conversation between these 2 Indian kids( he was a Punjabi boy and she was a Gujarati gal). Ditto brought out the Tilapia and it looked just amazing. The aroma was divine. Big, delicious pieces of tilapia with peppers in this to die for curry sauce. TC my friend you were spot on in your review about the rice and more rice please being the perfect accompaniment to soak in and savor this beautiful dish. The rice was very tender and fresh. The entree portion was perfect and I actually had almost half my rice left over. The lychee ice cream looked great but I was just too full. 10 minutes into dinner I wanted to jump in and rescue my poor buddy next door as he was trying to talk to her about family and she was on Facebook head down and on her cell phone. He kept looking over at me with that " Hey, guy who is probably my dad's age, what do you think?" I stayed focused on my incredible meal and the red curry tilapia, my lovely "date" for the evening. Amazing food! Even more spectacular was the fantabulous staff who were all happy, smiling, busting their butts and a real team as others jumped in to pick up my dishes and bring me out the lovely chocolate covered mints( dessert!!!!!). Great service here... bravo! I went in with my wife today for lunch for the first time. You walk in from the street and it feels like dinner in there because there aren't too many windows, so they can control the ambience. They must pool the tips there, as we weren't ready for one waitress when she approached us, but another one came along just a minute later and we were already ready to order. Great! Free spring roll appetizer was good. The Thai Dumplings were nicely done, though not my favorite thing. A bit dry, and I didn't like how it went with the soy sauce. Too much salty soy sauce was absorbed by the dumpling filling, which kind of reminded me of chunky cat food. It was a little odd, but unique. I had the Pad See Iew with shrimp and wife had Pad Thai. My Pad See Iew was typical... it wasn't crazy awesome, just a typical preparation done basically well. The Pad Thai had pretty chewy noodles... we didn't know if that was intentional or not. I figured it probably is... it's like their version of "al dente" and I kind of liked it. I think we'll be back, as I really want to try some of their other dishes, and that service was really solid. For appetizers, I recommend the chicken satay, which is always very tasty and well done, as is the curry puff. My go to entree is the Pineapple Fried Rice, which is always delicious! I also recommend the Massaman Curry. I usually get the Thai Iced Coffee to drink. If you're in the mood for alcohol, their Mai Tai and Aphrodite are amazing! My go to Thai restaurant. Perfect for groups or a casual date. They have a small parking lot in the back which can be easily missed if you don't know it's there. During the week there is no wait, weekend there is usually a short wait, you can grab a cocktail or Thai iced tea at the bar while you wait. Tom Yum soup is a must, large is enough for 4 or more. Comes in a huge bowl with a burning flame to keep your soup warm. Signature dishes such as green curry, Pad Thai, pineapple fried rice are always good. If you want to see and be seen go elsewhere since you can't even see outside once in here. Lunch specials run from $8.00 and up. Food is solid and staff was attentive. They also have a long drink menu of cocktails if you are looking for a night out. Think Lychee Sangria. As an added bonus it's family friendly so bring the kids! Or, if you're lucky leave them home and actually digest your meal. Parents you know of what I speak. I have also had dinner here with the family in tow and seen large groups dining out.
