So late last Friday night, I had stopped at Casa Asia for take out. The place looked dark inside but my desire for a hot bowl of Tom Kha supercede my senses. The woman at the counter stated no they do not have Tom Kha. So I settled for a takeaway order of chicken Pad Thai. The woman was holding a conversation with another coworker so I decided to wait outside til it was ready. Not to soon after, the woman handed me my order at the door and I thought this was the fastest Pad Thai I ever had made for me. Getting home , the paper bag contained a white container with the food and nothing else. No utensils, napkins, just the container of food. The noodles were great, wedge of lime and that was about it. Scant slivers of shallots, peanuts chicken etc. It appears and tastes as if it was a premade sauce out of a bottle... very disappointing. I recommend the removal of this item from the menu. I will give other nearby restaurants a try next time. read more

This used to be my favorite sushi spot by my grandma's and we used to go every time I visited! She just came back from Europe so we went for our usual dinner date and brought my boyfriend this time (both raving about the food) but I'm disappointed to say that the quality has gone down immensely. There used to be a line out the door on a Saturday evening; however we walked in and the place itself was empty. I was shocked. The lady up front was a bit rude to us; my grandmother is not the fastest walker but I don't understand why an eye roll walking us to the booth was necessary. As for food, we had some apps - the Kani salad felt frozen? not fresh at all :( The rolls weren't as tasty as they used to be, the chicken teriyaki had a stench to it & the regular chicken fried rice was very salty. Tasted like there was MSG. We all went home and felt sick that night & the day prior. I'm really upset at the decline ; hopefully they will make some improvements and rise back up; but for now - I will not be returning. read more

Casa Asia was a nice find in the Whitestone Queens area. First tried the restaurant by buying a mixed roll platter to go, which was nicely packaged, fresh and well-received by the 6 friends it fed. I returned 3 weeks later with family and we had dinner onsite. The place was clean, cozy and has a sushi station in the back. They have a robust menu, booth seating and a few tables for patrons to sit. The place has a busy energy which seems run by seasoned workers. The service was good, bit not very warm (which was OK, I guess for the experience and behind the scenes bustle). The waitstaff were all business, they kept a straight face and kept things moving. Our waitress didn't skip a beat, she kept it professional and provided good service. The place wasn't packed, but the phones didnt stop ringing with delivery and pickup orders. One of my favorite sushi places in the Whitestone area. My mother in law loves this place and we go here every time we visit. There's always street parking infront or across the st. Our favorite dishes to order are the pineapple fried rice, specialty rolls, shrimp tempura and Kani salad. The food is always good, I like that the sushi itself is fresh, service is pretty quick -- it gets packed during lunch because they have a special & on weekends so don't be alarmed if there is a wait. My go to sushi place to order front and have delivered. Quick and reasonably priced. We order from here weekly. Sometimes the salmon is best bet compared to yellowtail. But both are staples. Also like the AAC and sweet potato rolls. Lettuce wraps and dumplings are solid. And then don't forget about the miso and salad with ginger dressing. I've not eaten there but it looks fine in there. I just prefer takeout. Staff is nice and aware when we not the food allergies. Sorry no pics as we eat here so often we don't take pics each time. The shrimp shumai was perfectly wrapped and filled with shrimp melting in mouth. The tempura was perfectly fried to and not over done. The 6 pieces of California roll was standard and good. I wish there were something to eat the rice with. I think the white rice for the tempura dishes should be replaced with fried rice. Pineapple Fried Rice - delicious and even included red onions. It did not come in a pineapple but it's still . The sodas were $1.50 - $2 each for 16 oz. That's a good price. Desserts kitchen close at 9:30pm. We did not get to eat any. I really love Casa Asia -- its not that the food is super spectacular or anything but it is just my go-to because it is (I believe) the only place in Whitestone that sells sushi. Hence, whenever I have a craving for sushi with my friends we either stop by or order delivery. Our go to for a group of 5 of us is usually the large family size platters (Party A) -- which they throw in a free dragon roll with your choice of 6 regular rolls. I believe if you order over $50 of items they also throw in another free dragon roll or shrimp tempura (from what I remember -- but that is a delivery perk that is unwritten -- don't quote me on that, you can ask them to confirm) I like the way they make their sushi, a lot of fish and a very thin layer of rice. Sometimes they do not have eel because of supply and demand which can be disappointing but for the most part is available (or they will charge you extra to get eel). read more

I only have had one mishap--I have a severe fish allergy, and ordered a shrimp teriyaki bento box that comes with a California roll. They will usually substitute a Shrimp Tempura roll for the fish-based CA Roll. This last order I received was delicious except for the roll contained imitation crab (which is made with pollock--FISH!). One bite and I knew something was awfully wrong. Don't know if someone was asleep at the wheel or if they just didn't care(?!). Despite the mishap, I will continue ordering from them, It's just SOOO GOOD! Always delicious! My kids love it because they offer sushi and Chinese food. Service is always amazing and the staff is so kind to our kids. We usually do take out but when we have time and in the mood for Asian cuisine, we will dine in. Their restaurant is always clean and there's plenty of room for our big family. They have a big menu with different Asian cuisine but I Highly recommend this place for their sushi lunch special. It is reasonable priced with good quality food. My husband has ordered lunch here multiple times. They have a good lunch menu with many options. We usually order their 3 roll maki lunch special. Our favorite are the shrimp tempura, snow crab avocado and eel avocado. Their rolls are decent size. Good amount of rice to filling ratio. It may not look like it's a lot but it is very filling. My experience of ordering this restaurant via food delivery app was horrible. So I can only speak in perspective of someone who was never given a chance to try their food yet. When searching up a specific meal to order, this restaurant was the first one to pop up due to their high reviews. I happily ordered my dish with notes for a request to change one of the ingredients if possible due to a preference. I initially looked forward to a potientally delicious lunch. But within 5 minutes of ordering from the app, I was called by a lady (I assume the receptionist) who demanded if I was the person who ordered from the restaurant. I answered yes but before I can process what needed to be done, she demanded for me to explain what my note said. I explained that I would like one of the sashimis to be more salmon. This is because some sushi restaurants I have ordered in the past disproportionate the amount of sashimi (Which I had no chance to properly explain why I wrote this down). She proceeded to complain to me that I should know the difference between a sushi, a sashimi and a chirashi and even explaining in detail... With no time for me to say that I don't need an explanation and that I know was aware of what I ordered. I felt offended because although no one knows or expects one another to understand ethnicities behind the accounts and names we use, we can't assume we don't know anything at all about the dish the customer ordered. I am half Japanese ironically and I felt that the explanations was unnecessary as I have never asked for one nor properly defend my thinking process. Despite being quite frustrated, I asked what can be done to have the order be just salmon at this point vs my initial request which wasn't all that difficult to understand to begin with. I also emphasized to her that I mentioned "if possible" at the end of my note to mean that I would have understood if it cannot be done. She denied my options ofc. And she continued to rant on about how she cannot substitute/exchange any other dish because of the specific dish I ordered. I even told her I was willing to pay the price difference but was quickly denied. I complained to her the restaurant already have multiple dishes that are salmon based and that that this shouldn't be more complicated that it already is. She ignored my comment and said rudely that I need to cancel my order. I only managed to suggest to her that there shouldnt be a note section option for requests if it cannot be fulfilled for specific dishes. She ignores me once again and that I need to cancel by saying that this order has been a mistake and that I was never meant to order in first place. Before I can finish off any of my points, she ended the conversation off by saying that "the restaurant just make the dishes it has to make, we don't cater to people like you". Like seriously? Were any of these comments and explainations necessary? Instead of being cut throat to the chase and simply saying that the order cannot be done with a simple explanation, I felt that it was a passive aggressive battle of "I'm right and you're wrong". I am glad that she did not curse me out but the customer service element was simply not there. I am shaken a bit by how this experience was. I am grateful that customer service on the app managed to cancel and refund me the order once I told them the quick truth. I won't order from this restaurant again via food delivery as I cannot trust that the dish I order will be honored. And I am reluctant to visit this restaurant in person unless I have a change of heart to give them another "chance" Buyers via delivery beware despite the higy rated reviews and lower expectations for a resolution if there is a problem with the order. read more
