I love love love this restaurant. Whenever I'm in town it's one of the first meals we eat. There is parking available behind the restaurant which is a plus. The restaurant is clean and has a lot of seating. The servers are very friendly and attentive. It is a good place for groups, they are accommodating. We order lot of different things off the menu. We love the snapper in the Thai chili sauce, pad Thai, beef massaman curry, and the crispy duck in Thai basil sauce. The drinks there are very strong. The lychee martini is really good and the BKNY Thai ice tea which has liquor in it. The desserts are pretty good. Came here with a small group of buddies for a quick dinner . Service took a few minutes to start maybe 10-15 for them to come to our table but it's not a big deal since I was having a good time taking to everyone . We got two drinks blue Hawaiian which was slightly sweet and I got the aquamarine which was similar to a Long Island ... it was very stiff and heavy poured so don't get thin if you're a lightweight . For apps we got the sausage , curry puffs , and massman roti . All well very delicious . For entrees we got the pineapple fried rice , basil fried rice and I got the pad see ew all we're good and there was enough left for leftovers . Been going here for the longest because of the great location, spacious dining hall and abundant parking on the side street and rear parking lot. What I like most is the consistency of their dishes. Even though they have great food there are plenty of Thai restaurants that will go above and beyond for their customers and have great food. This place is a total rip off. I pick up a diner of massaman curry with sticky rice.The sticky rice was wrapped in a bag. The amount of rice amount given was so small it wasn't enough to even enjoy the curry with. I've come here for dinner numerous times. My go-to is Massaman Curry, which is spicy chicken curry with coconut milk. I just love dunking rice into this fragrant curry dish. If you don't want to commit to an entire entree of spicy curry, the Roti + Chicken Massaman Curry appetizer works well, which is just a smaller portion of the curry with flatbread. My second go-to is the sweet and spicy Fried Chicken Wings. It's technically an appetizer, but I eat it like an entree. It gets pretty busy around dinner time. BKNY has been around for a while. I've been here quite a few times throughout the years and each time was a different experience when it came to the food. My recent visit was ooook. The food seems to be catering to a more American palate and lacks any traditional Thai flavors. I had the chicken curry puffs, which is a must get and always my fave here, fried calamari, Thai dumplings, and the lunch special shrimp pad Thai and chicken pad see ew. The calamari was average. I'd probably skip it. The Thai dumplings were steamed in a rice crepe type of skin that I wasn't expecting. It also had peanuts inside as well as on top. I wasn't into it. I enjoyed the of see ew, but the pad Thai was bland and plain. I liked that the noodles were al dente and not mushy, but the flavor was lacking. They also charged an extra $2 for shrimp which wasn't worth the four, tasteless shrimp in the dish. I'd rather get a diff protein you don't need to pay extra for. Service was pleasant and courteous. I'd give them another chance and maybe just skip the pad Thai and Thai dumplings next time. read more

They actually stop seating customers earlier than the hours they mention, but you won't find that out unless you are physically there as they post it on the door. Be sure to call before going. I came here with my family and we ordered quite a lot as we usually do. We started off with the roti with massaman curry, which is quite expensive for the portion size. They served it with the frozen roti paratha that I make at home. To say the least I was quite annoyed to pay $10 for it. Someone in my family also ordered the Tod Mun (fried fish cakes) $8. Very Disappointed that they only served 4 pieces when they were frozen bought. I myself have purchased these in the supermarket market for wayyyy less than $8 for a pack of 8+. I would avoid unless you are really craving it. My greatest disappointment was in the Tom Yum. To this day I cannot say that I was really served Tom yum that day. It was lacking in both lemongrass and the sour acidity flavor. We also ordered the chicken satay, nam tok salad, fried chicken wings, green curry, som tum, lad na, and the Pla lard prik. I think out of everything we ordered, the lad na tasted the best, but I recall it having a strong black pepper/white pepper taste to it which I was not a fan of. This place is beautifully decorated. Date night worthy. Dark furniture against slight pops of bright paint makes for a beautiful eyesight. It's food is brag worthy. I have only been here three times, but it was delicious each time. I have had their Pad Thai, which I've come to notice I can be exceptionally picky with. The Shrimp Pad Thai is not too sweet and noodles are cooked perfectly. Their chicken red curry is both savory and sweet in all the right aspects. Spicy with coconut undertones. Absolutely divine. We had the fish cakes, veggie cakes, calamari and agidashi tofu for appetizers and they were all really good. Dinner was fantastic! Pineapple fried rice was full of pineapple and flavor. I've been to BKNY Thai before, and I've never been disappointed with the food. The service could've always been better though, and that was something my friends, family and I always consistently agreed on. They're very strict with timings and kitchen closings, and sometimes would come off rude when they would come close to closing. With that being said, their food is still amazing and the restaurant itself is beautiful. It's always packed so you know it's actually good. I had my birthday dinner here on 11/4/16... I had 23 people, and I was nervous because I didn't want to be rushed out. Luckily I did make a reservation and had that all in place. I was originally aiming for 8:30, but they asked if I could make it at 9 to better accommodate their own customers and my party. Meeting half way proved to be super beneficial for us. ***(when I first called to make the reservation, someone rudely told me that they didn't take reservations, they didn't serve big groups, and that there's no manager- call several times if you're going to make a reservation for a big group because there are some people who disregard what you have to say)*** They were super nice and patient when taking care of my party, which is something I wasn't expecting. The food was perfect, and the portions are generous. We ordered a bunch of dishes and ate family style, and I think that's a really smart move for a big party. Individual dishes at BKNY can get expensive so the family style saved us easily $25/person. Michelle was also a great help, as well at the owner! BKNY is our family staple for classy Thai food in Queens. We've had dinners here for different occasions and have always been pleased with their food and service. It's large enough for parties and intimate for smaller groups, with a swanky modern decor that spells a nice evening ahead! Getting entrees family-style is the way to go. We usually start with their roti canai or satay skewers or curry puff dishes, which come with the ubiquitous Thai dipping sauces. Their Drunken Noodles/Pad Thai dishes and Red/Green/Massaman curries are all reliable options. BKNY is where I first tried Massaman curry, and have been getting it ever since, from fond memories here. For entrees, the Grilled Lamb Chops is plentiful, meat is tender and nicely charred, as are the Tri-Flavor Baby Back Ribs in a tangy, sticky-sweet sauce. Both are served with a mound of sticky rice, but as Asians, we always need more jasmine on the side. Salmon Shu Shee grilled salmon with Thai herbs and steamed vegetables is flavorful, but pretty straightforward. As was the Pad Ka Prow beef with stir-fried veggies. Their Pineapple Fried Rice is no longer served in a half carved pineapple, which upped the presentation value, but my favorite has always been their Thai Basil Fried Rice. It's nice and fragrant, with plenty of beef in the dish, and not wet like the Pineapple rice can be. We're usually too full by the time dessert rolls around, which isn't a great miss because desserts have been less appealing, including their Fried Banana with ice cream. Tasty, but small portions. The food is always delicious, I have had many different dishes here and enjoyed them all. A hidden GEM in Queens! My boyfriend chose this Thai restaurant for my birthday ... 1. because we are both Thai lovers; 2. because of the unique name - BKNY=BangKok New York; 3. because of the good reviews he read on yelp; 4. because of the attractive chef special dishes on the menu of the website and 5. because of the appealing food pictures shown on the website. I totally agree with Deven L that BKNY serves one of the best Thai Iced Teas. You get more of a stronger tea taste with less milk and sugar. Even after the ice melted, the tea taste remained. As for the Fried Crispy Calamari, the calamari was fried just right and the sauce tasted perfectly with the calamari. Now onto the entres, I ordered the Eggplant - my FAV- (w/ assorted vegetables and minced meat). My boyfriend and I both agree that this is the FIRST Thai restaurant that is actually brave enough to put enough SPICY ingredients in the food. My dish had a rating of 2 stars for spiciness and it really lived up to the 2 stars which was enough spice for me. If It were given 3 stars, I think my mouth would've burnt in fire. Therefore, I truly commend BKNY for being ***spicy sassy*** with their food! My boyfriend ate The Lemongrass Chicken and it was amazingly tender and flavorful. It was just ok. Cant say I would come here a second time. G had some sort of eggplant with rice with mild seasonings and it was way to spicy hot. He mostly scooped his food out of the sauce to avoid the powerful seasonings. I had a drunken noodle with chicken dish which was served in a soup bowl which could have served 4 people. First off, this dish should have been called the boiling cauldron of fire. If the waiter had spilled this on me as he placed it on the table I would have been in the burn unit of the local hospital. This dish was hot boiling and spicy. I ordered medium spice thinking that would be toned down from the usual thai hot. Was I wrong. This bowl of stuff was so hot I think my tonsils and tongue tried to escape thru my lungs. Totally not edible. When the waitress finally returned, she said that thai food is spicy (could hardly understand her, but I think thats what she said) in any case she took the bowl back and they basically dumped the hot spicy broth out and filled it with less spicy broth, but still boiling hot. This meal was just not doing much for me. The interior of this place is very lovely and you would think from the outside being on a non-descript block that the insides would be plane and dated but surprisingly not at all. Its very cozy and has a beautiful round bar in the middle of the restaurant. The food was not memorable and needing to send it back just bothers me. I rarely accept food if its not good on the first delivery. Oh yeah! some fine Thai cuisine going on here. The place is dimly lit, some people call it "intimate" I call it dark, but once you get seated, the table seems to come alive with light. you get a spotlight feel right over the table. Either the food is getting showcased or you feel like you're being interrogated, if you are the latter, take the 5th. Service was quick and the waiters were very friendly. For starters, we ordered the Tom yum soup (medium spicy) The broth was refreshingly hot and sour, we both counted 3 shrimps in each of our soup bowls. The Thai dumpling were delicious, the dumplings were filled with chicken and chopped peanuts and whatever else they put in there, a very soft and delicate translucent wrapper encased the dumplings contents. You have to get the Tamarind duck, WOW, this duck rules the roost! crispy and not too fatty, served with a delicious bowl of jasmine rice. We also ordered the green curry with beef. Curry was delicious, but when you have curry you need bowls and bowls of rice to soak up all that goodness. We had the Thai fried ice cream, sooooo good. A scoop of frozen vanilla ice cream encased in what looks like a fried Italian rice ball, if you would have poured marinara sauce over it, you would never know it was ice cream, but that is where the similarities stop. The raspberry sauce drizzled on the plate was a nice complement to this frozen gem of a dessert. The portion sizes were not huge therfore the prices were a little steep. A big plus is the parking spaces in the rear of the restaurant. I will be back to try their other offerings in the future. Tonight is a family thanksgiving night . Fried tofu and duck roll were among the appetizers we ordered tonight. Crispy, tasty and yummy. For an entree, my son had beef panang curry as he loves hot food, my daughter had shrimp pra ram delights( peanut sauce with veggies) and my husband and I shared the crispy whole red snapper with pineapple fried rice and shrimp pad Thai as our sides. We all had very delectable meal. We were not disappointed with our choices. The best Thai food experience we had so far. To end the night , we all shared the fried banana with peach ice cream and green tea crepes cake with creamy custard . Awesome dessert ! My husband and I decided to eat Thai cuisine for our Friday night dinner since we haven't ate that type of food in the past 5 months. We found parking right in front of the restaurant. The exterior of the restaurant didn't look that nice but the inside was what surprised me; large, spacious Thai restaurant with a nice ambience, and dim lighting, which gave a romantic feel. My husband ordered the shrimp pad Thai and a Thai iced tea, and I got the massaman curry with chicken and a Thai dumpling appetizer. The Thai iced tea was sweet enough for my husband so he would recommend it to get again. It was separated into 2 layers, the milk and the iced tea. The shrimp pad Thai was almost quite tasty with medium size shrimps cooked to perfection. He always wishes that the shrimp tails are taken off so that would be his only comment. My massaman curry with chicken was spicy but tasteless and the potatoes in the sauce was not fully cooked so it was raw and hard in the middle. The Thai dumplings (ground chicken, shallot, peanut & preserved radish) tasted like a Chinese dumpling we eat at dim sum (Chiu Chow fun gor) so it tasted so so. We also ordered 2 desserts, the fried Thai ice cream and fried banana with lychee ice cream. The fried ice cream was in a ball form with vanilla ice cream inside and topped with raspberry sauce. The first few bites were good but then the fried dough became soggy with the ice cream and sauce. The fried banana was mushy and the skin was fried for too long that it became hard and slightly burnt. The lychee ice cream was good, not overly sweet and had lychee bits in it. Service was good and we loved that a water jug was left on our table so we could refill our water by ourselves. Came here on a Sunday for some take-out with my friends. I've come here many times before and have really enjoyed their lunch specials, which I still recommend. While I was waiting for my take out at the bar, I was really taken aback by how strong and pungent the restaurant smelled, and not really in a good way. I know that this can be typical for Thai restaurants, but it was on another level for me. They told me the food would take 20 minutes after I had called it in, but I ended up waiting closer to 30-40 minutes for our whole order. It usually feels a lot better when restaurants overestimate their wait time versus underestimating it. The cherry on top would be when my order of pad see ew without any eggs came covered in it! This is a pretty terrible feeling when you realize what you had requested for was overlooked and now you're at home wondering if you should do anything about it.
