My husband and I have eaten here twice and have been astonished at how delicious everything has been. Portions are enormous, so bring an appetite or take home a box. Service is friendly though sometimes not as attentive--they stay very busy. If you like breakfast, you can't go wrong. Grits are the best I've ever eaten. Biscuits, eggs and meats are delicious. The California eggs Benedict is not to be missed. The cfs, while tasty is not as good as some I've had. That's a Texas speciality, so no hate. The environment is warm and welcoming, even cozy. Their staff are very welcoming (they opened the front door for us) and friendly, it seems like the staff enjoyed their fellow coworkers and their customers! Over the years while traveling out west I became familiar with the Black Bear Diner's in Ca, Nv & Az. and made it a point to eat there whenever possible. They were always clean well managed friendly staffed restaurants that served large portions of fair priced delicious American Comfort Food! Everything from soup to nuts! Breakfast all day long too! After retiring 5yrs ago and living in the DFW area I never much thought about the Black Bear anymore. I recentley found out about the Ft Worth Alliance location and had to give them a try. They didn't let me down! This was my wife's first experience at a Black Bear Diner and she was more than pleasantly surprised. I highly recommend giving them a try. Our family has really enjoyed our visits. The food is great, atmosphere is great and the service is pretty good. The only reason they are getting dinged is because they do not offer the ability to get on the waitlist ahead of time. Having a family with young children it is difficult to sit in our car and wait an hour to eat, when other restaurants have adapted to the times and embraced technology to speed this process up. Would love to see the option to get on waitlist before leaving the house. This feature usually dictates where our family will go eat. read more

Was excited for this place. Stopped by a few times but too packed. Went today and tried it. This is by far the worse food I have ever ate in Texas. The biscuit was burnt. I ordered the bears choice with the sweet cream banana pancakes, sausage, bacon, and scrambled eggs. The waiter (Elijah) was really nice and when my hash browns were cold I got fresh hot ones. It was cute inside and out and had nice decorations. But when I got my plate it had lettuce and an orange and there was really no point. Overall then seasonal pancakes were amazing! Yikes! Ordered food, 15 minutes later waiter came to say they were out of Tri-tip , we reordered one meal but they made all other meals sit in the kitchen under a mild heat lamp. Horrible service- like 10 customers 15 staff and no one knows what to do. Where is the management?? kitchen sent out the worst sandwich I've ever seen! 5 slices of bread in a row plain and dry chunks of chicken and a little bit of cheese totally got order wrong. Didn't put anything when it was supposed to be a chicken and avocado club sandwich. Poor waiter was new - zero training. We were there this morning for breakfast. My wife and daughter ordered a plate that they were going to share with each other. my daughter asked for no tomatoes since she is allergic to citric acid. Well, their food came, and my daughter started to eat the food and found some tomatoes in the food, so our waiter came over and asked if everything was okay and we said that there were tomatoes in her food. He then went and got his manager. She was the best manager we ever had come in contact with at a restaurant. She apologized for the miscommunication, and she would take care everything. This is the taco salad. It was more than I could eat , and I am a big guy. Both our dinners were amazing and at great prices. We ate at the Alliance location in Fort Worth. The tea was fresh brewed which is a plus with me. Our server Macy took care of all our needs and even kept my tea glass full , which is no small task. We've been there a few times for breakfast already, and everything we've had has been delicious, especially the Sweet Cream Pancakes and Waffles. Service, for the most part, has been pretty good - but they're still "in training", I think, so it should get even better. The place has been crowded each time we've gone, which is a good sign. I'm sure they'll do very well. We'll be back many times, as we need to go for dinner, as well. My ONLY complaint is that their "thick-cut" bacon is NOT thick-cut at all. read more
