    Shasta Veggie Scramble (730-1040 cal)

I enjoyed my first experience at Black Bear. It was busy when we arrived but we were able to be seated within 15 minutes as a party of 5. We all enjoyed our fresh squeezed juices. That was definitely a highlight of the menu! I personally ordered the Shasta Veggie Scramble. It was just okay. It lacked seasoning/flavor but the rest of my party thoroughly enjoyed their selections and for that reason, we will be back! Our waitress was so kind and checked on us throughout our meal. Thanks for a great first experience.

Wow those aren't normal biscuits! They could be a whole meal on its own! The ambiance is so cozy and we love the bear theme and bear plushies. My wife and are pretty picky about breakfast. And we were blown away by how good this food was. My wife is from Georgia and always critiques the grits wherever she goes and says they aren't authentic. And she loved these grits! I especially loved the sliced ham! It was excellent! Our server was attentive and kind. We will be coming back!

I started outside. I enjoyed the design of this place! It definitely has its own thing going and makes you feel like you are in a diner in the mountains. Lots of real wood logs around the trim and furniture. It was very simple and made you feel like you were at your grandparents house eating breakfast. I got the Creamy Vanilla Iced Cold Brew and it was average. It got the job done, but didn't blow my socks off. I didn't expect them to specialize in coffee anyways so I'm not upset. Lastly, the food was great! I ordered Joe's Hobo Omelette & I was pleasantly surprised by the portions! They were massive! Shoutout to my server, Brianna! She was on top of it and very friendly. I'll definitely be back!

Great service and a surprisingly great meal. It reminds me of a better version of IHOP. Not sure I would come here often, but it would definitely be a place to bring out of town guests, as the menu is large enough to accommodate all tastes and preferences.

This was an awesome breakfast establishment ans had quality service and great food. The attitude in the restaurant was welcomed and service was fast, ambiance not much we i was there at lunch. Probably the loudest and busiest timeframe. Ill definitely be visiting again.

Today I went to work out, and afterwards I made a decision to go to Black Bear Diner to eat. This is my second time coming in. I'm at one something that was hard, healthy nutritious and also have some protein in it and on the menu I see where they had a cob chicken salad, see picture above, and the salad was very good and fresh bags were tasty. The tomatoes were very good but onions were real good bacon was real crispy and the chicken was cooked just right I just wanna say thank you once again staff and management at Black Bear Diner. You may this experience wonderful.Amaya was my waitress and she did a great job. She was very attentive. She came back and checked and I appreciate that very much

Had a great lunch here at the Black Bear Diner. The atmosphere is like a cleaner greasy spoon diner. The waitstaff are super friendly and easy to work with. For lunch expect a little waiting time before seating, but then again it's the luck of the draw. The lunch we had was great! And the portions are plenty. I ordered the chicken nest, which is new in the menu. Which is chicken breast in Hollandaise sauce, and onion straws which was excellent. Came with good broccoli and what tasted like real mashed potatoes and white gravy. My wife ordered the "bear paws" which looked like a chicken fried steak, with the same sides I had. Both were very delicious. Like I said the server was attentive and quick to refill our drinks and get our bill ready. Overall a great experience for locals and visitors alike, highly recommend!

We had a delightful dinner tonight at the Black Bear Diner. There's a Big welcome Bear for photo ops, a souvenir store for bear claw house shoes, paw gloves, stuffed animals, t-shirts and more. We were seated promptly; there were 5 of us, Makenzie was great, very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is clean, with an outdoor camp feel. Their menus are on newspaper which is cute. We ordered the turkey club, 2 cheese burgers, chicken & waffles and a breakfast special with sweet cream pancakes. Everything was fresh and delicious.

Very cool decor, like a lodge, comfortable seating. Interesting and variety on the menu for all different tastes. It is a diner, not a 5-star Michelin restaurant. It does what it does very well though. Friendly attentive staff. Great location easy parking. Like the Terminator "I'll be baaack!l lol!

This place is AWESOME!! Such cute decor, great music (but not too loud) & great service by Maria! Let me tell you about the food!!!! Mom had the Volcano (subbed a sweet cream waffle for the pancakes). It came with eggs, link sausage (best we've ever had) & bacon (tastes like it just came off the smoker!). I had the Bread Pudding French Toast...with bananas & pecan praline drizzle and fresh fruit on the side. Pull up a chair & prepare for the BEST thing you've ever tasted!! The entire experience was above the 5 stars we could give it!!!

I was so happy when black bear opened because we had them back home and really missed them. The food is the way we remember, generous portions and really hit the spot. Fast service, and friendly service. This is 40 minutes from my house and very much worth the drive. Love the atmosphere, the woodsy vibe is one of my favs.

I'm not sure if they just changed suppliers or not but things have gotten smaller / worse quality while the price has gone up for what arguably is standard breakfast fare. Case in point: the Chicken or Egg Sandwich. Used to be my go to, but after having it recently again after not coming for quite some time it was a disappointment. The chicken cutlet used was thin compared to the thick fried version it had before, everything was a bit beige, and a rather small serving of hash browns accompanied it. I had a standard black coffee alongside it which tasted a bit watered down and my partner has commented that the speciality coffees are not as good as they used to be. Other new additions to the menu aren't exactly what you would expect, for example the Monte Cristo is more a deconstructed version of the Bennigan's classic but it's not obvious unless your waiter tells you. The price is typical of downtown but the food doesn't rise to the occasion and the value proposition for me isn't enough to come back unless something changes. Thats not to say the food is all bad, but seeing what it was prior to their menu change, it's just uninspiring for the price. The service however has remained top tier and every time I have gone I've had fantastic service regardless of if it's a Sunday morning with a hour long wait or a quiet weekday lunch.

Excellent choice! I sat in a quiet corner spot near the window. My server was very friendly and understood. I was there to work in addition to eat breakfast. I will say that the coffee was just OK, a bit on the weak side, and so I added some flavored cream which I don't usually do. With that said the breakfast was outstanding! I ordered two eggs that came with two slices of bacon, which was perfectly crispy and good size, along with two tasty sausages. My server recommended I take the French toast which was among several choices as he said this was the most popular choice. Wow! I don't usually order French toast and I'm not that big of a fan, but this was fantastic. Light, flavorful, it was just perfectly delicious. I thought the price was very reasonable, and I would certainly go back to this place if I were ever in the vicinity again.

I was very grateful that the butter was actually melted on the bread unlike other local breakfast places around town where the bread comes out cold and they give you the butter on the side. While we were there, I observed employees loading whole oranges into the fresh orange juice machine. Several oranges fell onto the floor, and I watched the employees pick the oranges up and place them back into the hopper to be juiced. I asked to speak with the owner but was told the owner was not there. A man who identified himself as the general manager came out. I explained what I had observed. The only question he asked was, "Do you know how many oranges fell onto the floor?" I replied that the number wasn't the issue. My concern was that oranges that had contacted the floor were being put back into the juicer. I did not feel my concern was taken seriously, and I requested the owner's contact information. I did not receive it. Because I believe this is a serious food safety concern, I reported this to the Highland Village Code Enforcement Division for investigation. We were excited to celebrate a special occasion here, but instead we left concerned about the restaurant's food handling practices and the response from management. Based on what I personally witnessed, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

While it was a lovely experience in a stunning environment, it fell a bit short of the high bar you'd expect for a $95/pp tea service. The Good: First and foremost, the environment is absolutely beautiful. The Bowie House, Bricks & Horses restaurant, and the Mulberry Room itself are gorgeously decorated with a sophisticated Texas Western theme. The atmosphere in the Mulberry library is intimate and visually striking. Additionally, the service was excellent from start to finish, being both attentive and professional. The food portions are quite generous, with both the savories and sweets served together on a single tower. The sweets were the highlight of the food, as they were very delicious and surprisingly large. We also really enjoyed the tea selections themselves, particularly the Earl Grey and the plum rooibos. The Letdowns: Unfortunately, a few details missed the mark, especially considering the premium price point: - The "Champagne": The experience is advertised as including a glass of Champagne, but we were actually served Prosecco. At nearly $100 a person, substituting Prosecco for real Champagne or Cremant is a major disappointment. - The Tea Service: Instead of receiving a teapot to enjoy throughout the afternoon, the tea is steeped directly in the cup. This limits you to a single cup per tea variety, though to be fair, I didn't ask if refills were an option. - Food Refinement: While the portions were large and the savories were tasty, they lacked the elegance of a traditional tea. Every savory option was open-faced and heavily blanketed in microgreens and edible flowers, which felt a bit unrefined. - Comfort & Conversation: The Mulberry library features low couches, deep chairs, and coffee tables. While this setup would be absolutely perfect for relaxing with a glass of whiskey, it makes leaning over to eat finger foods highly uncomfortable. Furthermore, the seating layout isn't ideal for holding a natural conversation with the people in your party. Overall: It is a nice experience in a breathtaking Fort Worth hotel, but I'm not sure I would return. If the price point were lower, the execution would make more sense. However, given the other highly refined afternoon tea options available across DFW for less money, this one doesn't quite live up to its price tag.

So we regrouped our breakfast plans and went mainly vegetarian. The Herbivore was absolutely delicious! Antebellum cheese grits topped with garlicky kale, romanesco and a soft boiled egg. We started with the biscuits and cinnamon roll. I would recommend both. The biscuits came with a jam, honey and whipped butter. The cinnamon roll, which may look a bit underwhelming had a such a great crispy texture on the outside while still being fluffy on the inside. The icing wasn't too sweet and complimented the roll nicely. For the table, we had the pollo frito biscuit w/duck fat potatoes, Brisket Benedict w/okra and the Fixe Breakfast entree w/maple sausage and potatoes. The pollo Frito was delicious, the chicken was seasoned well and maintained crunch even within the biscuit. Duck fat potatoes were also good but were even better after adding some salt. The brisket benny was okay, the texture of the brisket was very odd and didn't really hold up to the egg. Although the okra had a great flavor the batter was a bit too thick which made it chewy. The Fixe breakfast was great and the maple sausage was perfect. Our waitress was Adriana, she was great and very helpful. Overall we would definitely come back and look forward to trying dinner one night.
