We haven't ate at the restaurant in a long time (about a year). My husband ordered the chicken and waffles (knowing it was so delicious for its yummy fried chicken). Not the case. ;(. Very disappointed. First of all- chicken tenders were hard as a rock (asked for another set and they were still hard but gave up on asking). Secondly- waffle was ok - used to be soft and fuller. Grits were covered in old cheddar cheese and small bits of bacon. Fruit was old tasting so I tried to pick out what was edible. The only thing good was the unsweetened ice tea and service. She (didn't know her name) was nice and proper. Needless to say- we will not be going back anytime soon. Too bad. We really liked the place! read more

This is our second time eating at Black Bear. Our 1st time was dinner and the order was missed up so until I missed eating with the family. This time it was breakfast, we ordered and our waitress took our order and then proceeded to wait on 3/4 other groups of people before she gave us our juice. Our first visit to Black Bear Diner was enjoyable and memorable. They unfortunately ran into power outages during a storm, but the service still was exceptional. My fiancé and I decided to sit at the bar since it was pretty busy on a Sunday morning. First thing I noticed was that the manager or owner, unsure of his title, but he had a great communication with his staff. From the servers to the cooks to the back, you can tell he had respect for each person he worked with. Our server Erica, and another server who I did not catch her name, were amazing! They had such great personalities and were so friendly. They made light of the outages. The food was delicious! My fiancé is a picky eater and already what's to come back. The fried chicken dinner was bomb!! 4 pieces of crispy fried goodness! I ordered a side of country gravy to dip the fries and chicken in. I had eaten at a Black Bear Diner in California so I knew my husband had to try it. There was a long line and he was hesitant but they really got us seated quite quickly. Our waitress was a doll and kept my husband coffee full (which is a plus). I told him the food was big but he didn't believe me until it came. I don't remember what we ordered now but it was delicious, quick service and friendly staff even on a busy morning. A must go back to for sure! read more

Bears. Bears everywhere. I'm Ot even kidding. They're on the windows, seats, drapes, carved in the wood, plates, ketchup bottles, EVERYTHING! Literally every picture in the place is what? You guessed it; a damn bear. Sooo, the server sat us down and took our order. I got a steak and the wife got Salmon. The kids had corn dogs and pizza. Waitress asked my wife if she wanted to add any sides to her salmon. My wife had to explain to her that they already came with the meal. I had to explain to her that a salad came with my steak. Brought me a soda without any ice in it. Had to fetch my own silverware from another table. Waitress never returned. Had to get the hostess to bring me my check. My rib eye didn't look real. I know this sounds weird and I'll explain. I'll also add a photo for reference. Ive never had a steak that I could cut with a fork. The meat pulled apart in my hands. I didn't use the steak knife they brought out. $17 for a 10 ounce Ribeye seemed a little fishy to begin with. read more

Food and service was horrible. Waitress got upset because we told her that the corn bread muffins were cold she rolled her eyes and took them back to microwave them. After that she made sure she took care of the other tables but ours. My dads food came out super cold and had to be sent back. We had to keep asking other waitresses for things that we needed. We go out to eat for fresh food not leftovers that need to be warmed up and it seems like that's what this place has become. This experience was horrible. I did let the manager know.
