This is our go to spot for brunch when heading back home after a weekend in Kingman. Getting there can be a little crazy with all the truckers lined up for gas but I promise you it's worth the maze of cars. We always order the ginormous bacon cheeseburger salad. It is amazing! Loaded with fresh chopped hamburger meat, red onions, pickles, tomatoes, crispy bacon, shredded sharp cheddar and served with the tastiest burger sauce dressing. This salad is huge and fills us up for the long drive home. Glancing around our table, I think everyone sampled all the pancakes, biscuits and breakfast platters. Again our omelettes were superb as usual BUT our server was DREADFUL (I think her name was Emmy or something like that). She was so negative, no personality and seemed to hate her job. Doesn't she know this is a hospitality industry? If you don't like your job find something else. I wrote a note to the manager on the back of the receipt and told the cashier. Needed a quick sandwich and didn't want Subway. Black Bear Diner is literally right off the freeway. It's attached to Popeyes Chicken and a gas station. The place was very busy on Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend which explains why they didn't answer their phone. I placed my take out order in person. Since they didn't have a regular avocado sandwich, I got the avocado turkey club and asked to omit the extra bread in the middle. I also ordered the half and half: half turkey sandwich with a packet of mustard (which they forgot) and half chicken and rice soup. The sandwich was a little dry and the soup was tasty but way too salty. I was told the turkey club sandwich (without the middle bread) was good and very filling. I was happy with the employee friendliness and their speedy service. I only waited about 15-20 minutes from order time to take out. Also, the employee was nice enough to hand me the bag instead of just leaving it at the take out counter! For restroom use, walk though Popeyes to the gas station. This place has a 20 minute wait even when the restaurant is empty. We waited 30 minutes with only about 5 seated tables in the restaurant. Seems like they purposely keep their staff and work load small. This is the third time this has happened, today we left and won't be back. read more

Well we would have loved to eat here but unfortunaly they did not have a sign posted and we sat in the back by the restrooms for half an hour waiting for the other half of our party and no one greeted us at the door or told us after 9pm they were to go orders only and they should be open until 11pm. From what I have seen of most restaurants in Kingman, this does not disappoint. You get your moneys worth when your dish comes. You are very delighted. You don't feel ripped off. I would never order a biscuit because it's enough for three or four people. If you want fruit with your breakfast, you get a lot and it's very nice. Terrible. BB has been going downhill for a while. Only come here because it's kinda a tradition with my grandson. Even the pancakes aren't the same. Ordered Bigfoot chick fried steak and chocolate chip pancakes. Just not good. Tasted off, not fresh and that was before I found the hair in the food. Twice . His pancakes had a strange taste as well. Syrup seemed to have almost chemical taste. For an 11yr old to not like it, you know it has to be bad. Salad was partially frozen, coleslaw was warm, the hairy steak was cold and the ketchup also had on odd taste. The last few times I've been here I was disappointed but this is the worst. It was good while it lasted but post Covid BlackBear rates lower than Dennys and IHOP. Sell your stocks, this place won't make it much longer. This is the best Black Bear Diner I've ever been to (5 stars based on comparisons with other Black Bear Diners). We had a group of 20 and they served our food surprisingly fast. The tables were also decently clean. Debbie was a great waitress, who checked in with us perfectly (not too often and didn't disappear). She was very friendly and attentive. For a Friday night evening meal, tried the prime rib. Meat was well done (ordered medium) and cold, green beans were cold, mashed potatoes cold but gravy was warm. Had the apple cobbler and was hot and cold throughout besides being tart and dry. The corn biscuit was super dry but the water was cold. Second time in my travels I stopped at this chain and similar situations at both. Not sure why people think this restaurant is super good. The internet order systems wastes your time since it'll wait until check out to let you know that this location doesn't support internet take out. Thanks for wasting 15 minutes of my time. TA should bulldoze the place and put a freakin subway up instead since it seems that's all those idiots can seem to manage ... Argh. I really, really, REALLY enjoy giving positive reviews , yet I just cannot give even a remotely positive review at this location. Our server was either not trained for her position or this is simply, "not her gig". My experience was truly so bad I have chosen not to elaborate on it. However, our greeter was great. Even though everyone is all masked up you could hear her smile through the mask. The coffee was excellent and I was very impressed with the way the Diner gives back to the Nicaraguan community that grows the beens. Only reason this rates a 2 is due to the pleasant service staff, the cooks need a talking to about the way they talk when the customers can hear then. Other than that, when I order COD fish and chips, I expect COD fish and chips not that "FLAKEY WHITEFISH" crap from the all you can eat fish fry suicidal.
