Probably one of the worst places I have eaten at. Maybe someone forgot to season everything?? Bland food and dry biscuits. Sticky menus and terrible service. It was so loud and freezing cold inside. Just save yourself the money and make it at home.

I eat here often. Usually I eat the breakfast options but today, after a 5k, I chose a burger. Made to temp, I like med-rare. Had fries as my side. Burger was pretty tasty and cooked perfectly. My bun had issues and couldn't really hold up to the burger so I ever up using my fork. Service was great. It's was the normal busy for a Saturday morning at about 930am.

Party of 7 on a Sunday morning and we were seated immediately. Extensive menu options for breakfast. Coffee hot and delicious. Waitress was very attentive keeping our cups full. Meals seemed heavy. But, good. I ordered the Bread Pudding French Toast with a side of potatoes. Much more food than I can eat! French toast was good. Potatoes were very buttery and not crispy like I expect from breakfast potatoes. I would recommend. You don't go away hungry, that is for sure!

Black Bear Diner Review | Olathe, Ks 11981 S Strang Line Rd, Olathe, KS 66062 Rating: 3.9 out of 5 Stars (3 full stars, 1 almost-full star) If you're craving classic diner comfort with a friendly, home-style vibe, Black Bear Diner in Olathe hits a lot of the right notes. It's the kind of spot where the plates are hearty, the service is quick, and the menu reads like a greatest-hits album of breakfast favorites. What I Loved Lightning-Fast Service: Food hits the table before you even think about checking the time. Genuinely Friendly Staff: The team here feels welcoming and attentive without hovering. Tasty Diner Classics: Eggs, bacon, pancakes, and everything in between--fresh, hot, and satisfying. Solid Pricing: Generous portions without shocking your wallet. What Missed the Mark The Coffee... Rough Morning: The coffee tasted like it skipped the filter entirely--full of grounds and not pleasant. Overall Black Bear Diner delivers fast service, friendly people, and a strong lineup of classic diner dishes at fair prices. Fix the coffee issue, and this place could easily climb into the 4-plus territory. Would I go back? Yes--just grabbing coffee elsewhere first. www.westayedthere.com

Was quick to be seated even during breakfast rush this place is large enough that there plenty of tables. I got the breakfast sandwich which as you can see in my picture it is rather large portion and had plenty of breakfast potatoes. It was so tasty that I wanted to eat it all but ended up calling it quits halfway through. I thought that the cost for what you got was a great value and will definitely be going back to try more foods.

Anytime I walk into a restaurant and there is pie on display, I usually have a feeling that I am going to have a good meal. We were greeted with arms wide open and Matt brought out our beverages immediately and while we were marveling at the menu and reading the special edition newspaper we zoned in on a stack of pancakes and country fried stake which were delicious and large enough for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We'll be back to enjoy the rest of the menu and the lively atmosphere.

Copious menu, good sausage and french toast stuffed with blackberries. Great brunch options. Good coffee. Good service. Ambiance...like cracker barrel... Eggs, Benedicts,, burgers, chicken fried steak and more on the newspaper menu.

No kids menu, so everything you order is huge. Chicken strips are huge, and so are there salads, 4/5 would eat again.

The western omelet was really good, plenty of cheese. Their hashbrowns had a nice crisp to them/ their sourdough toast was buttered and very crispy, I really enjoy a good slice of sourdough. The burrito was also really good, packed full. Chose chorizo as the meat and it was very tasty. Also tried the lemon ricotta pancakes which were the perfect amount of sweet and zest. They're regular pancakes topped with a raspberry sauce and lemon zest. I would definitely come back but aim for an outdoor seat.

It's a lovely restaurant. It seems a bit out of the way with mostly corporate buildings around. The restaurant has a nice modern aesthetic. I like the purple hyacinths hanging from the ceiling in one area. It was very steady for an off time in the afternoon. First, our server Olivia was amazing! Very attentive and we were extra needy this day so I really appreciate her patience. We even dropped food on the floor. Oops! She was so nice about it and cleaned it up immediately. We had customizations and extra requests. No problem for her! She went above and beyond. I hope she sees this because she was such a joy! The food was also very good. We started with the biscuits and one peach compote and one blueberry. Both were yummy. They were traditional drop biscuits and I love a good biscuit! We also had an order of fried green tomatoes on goat cheese grits. You get 4 very large slices. I could only eat one. The grits were yummy but there were not enough of them in relation to the friend green tomatoes. They were also encased by a sauce. I'm guessing a remoulade. I don't really care for remoulade sauce so I'd have removed it had I known it came with the dish. It really overpowered the goat cheese taste in the grits. The tomatoes were very al dente and I would have preferred them cooked a bit more. The dish was still good but my least favorite and I would normally love anything with those ingredients and fried green tomatoes are a favorite so the remoulade (or whatever it was) sauce was a real problem for me. I would definitely get them again without the sauce because they are great otherwise. But that sauce just overpowers every other flavor! I got the chicken tender dinner and others in my party got the bone in fried chicken. Everyone liked their chicken. The tenders were a big size. 4 of them but I hit 2 meals out of them. Everyone liked the Parmesan rosemary potatoes. I really liked the bacon green beans. The only side we weren't impressed with was the Mac and cheese unfortunately. The cheese was not good. We got coffees and a chai. All of them were very good. A bit pricey for the amount you get though. Even with the smaller complaints, I'd still give th a 5 because of the outstanding service and the dishes were overall very good and large portions. We will definitely return and I hope to try out a breakfast item next visit!

This spot is owned by the same team behind Kate's Kitchen up north--which I've always found fantastic--and I'm happy to report this location is on that same elite wavelength. The Experience: The atmosphere is clean and impressively airy, making for a great morning vibe. Both the hostess and server were exceptionally engaging, even providing a personal water pitcher for the table--a small touch that makes a huge difference. The Food: Chicken Fried Chicken: This is the real deal. It was clearly prepared fresh, not frozen, which is a rarity these days. The Sides: The home potatoes were perfectly crispy, and the gravy was thick, peppery, and hit all the right notes. The Biscuit: This "super-sized" biscuit was essentially the icing on the cake. The Eggs: I ordered my eggs poached soft. They arrived a bit too soft (runny yolk was the goal, but these were just under), though in fairness, that's likely on me for the specific request! Verdict: If you want a breakfast that feels home-cooked with high-quality ingredients and attentive service, this is the place. We initially chose it thinking "oh it's v day, people will want to do something nicer than TRH". WRONG. Told a 3 hour wait and we shuffled over to the Olive Garden. Well, this year, I was smart. I went online weeks prior to make a reservation, only to find out that they don't take reservations--only a waitlist. So I plotted. I told myself that I'd start looking at the waitlist starting at 2p for Valentine's Day I kid you not, by 330p, the waitlist was already at 1.25 hours. 30 min later at 4p, the waitlist was at 2hrs. Perfect. 6pm dinner sounds great! We arrived and they seated us within 2 minutes. Our waiter came promptly and checked on us so many times. Salads came out literally within a minute of us ordering. Entrees took five minutes. A wait staff stood there and waited for us to cut into our steaks to ensure that it was to our liking. And we pay at the table on a machine on our own time. We got in and out in 30 minutes. Whoever is the manger/GM know how to manage. Kudos to them for an insanely smooth holiday dinner. Also... a chain restaurant having an almost 4 star review is insane--but now I understand.
