Pros: The food is really good. The portion size and prices seem reasonable. Place seems nice and clean Cons: The service is not good. I only got half of what I ordered. The Server said she messed up on the order so it would be a few minutes. Which is fine. However 25 minutes later I still did not have my complete order. The Server was no where to be found. Finally after we were finished eating she came over and we asked her to remove the items we didn't receive. She said , oh you didn't get it all, I'm sorry. We were the Only people eating in the restaurant. The only table the server had, yet she couldn't get our order correct or even stop by to make sure we had e everything we needed? Yes mistakes happen, I understand but there was no effort put forth to at least try to make sure the order was accurate. My advice to customers: Order to go and double check before leaving that your order is accurate, My advice to the restaurant: Work on your customer service. Obviously the server we had was too busy chatting with the other server to do her job. This type of service is unacceptable. I have been to locations in California as well and they have exceptional service. The one in Olathe Kansas needs work. The waitress had one table and she couldn't even handle getting it accurately. read more

Staying at the hotel across the lot and sure I'll give it a try. Staff was friendly and I was seated right away. Customers were streaming in and with the ample staff all were seated quickly. Huge menu and as much as I wanted breakfast for dinner I settled on the cheeseburger salad. Huge salad with a nice burger cut up but the good crunchy crust from a flattop grill was perfect. Shredded cheese I pushed over the hot burger to get the melt going. Russian dressing was on the side Good crunchy bacon and lots of dill pickles in the salad. Quite enjoyable and filling. My server Benjamin suggested the blackberry pie which I am taking to go. It's large enough for two or in my case dessert and breakfast tomorrow. Service was quick and tables were bussed very quickly. Loved the hot and new tag food was old and cold . Main course was interesting, French dip was recommended by out waitress, it tasted like smoked budding cheap some kind of beef. Onion rings full order as you can see had 6 small rings. My son had the Bob's big bear snapshot hockey puck burger. We found the burnt offering for the Winter Solstice. Fries were cold. Everything was cold. The only positive of the experience was Kaitlyn our waitress, she was very nice and did as much as she can with such a bag situation. read more

This is a fantastic food chain but these guys aren't even close to other locations they have. The have been open a couple of weeks but the food isn't usually halfway cooked so watch your food. The Chewys restaurant next door to Black Bear dinner closed a couple of months ago (Chewys is another fantastic chain but the food was terrible at this location) and I noticed a few of the cooks from this restaurant (They actually hired the cooks from a failed restaurant next door) at Black Bear Dinner and this seems stupid but I hope they make it work!!! Came here for the first time two weeks ago and had a great breakfast. The prices are a little higher than what I like for breakfast but the food was great. My husband had the eggs Benedict and a side of potatoes and said it was excellent, I had pancakes and eggs. Their pancakes were light and fluffy and very good. One thing that I really found to be excellent was that the manager was very involved, when my waitress was busy he came around and refilled our drinks and made sure that everything was to our liking. You don't see that much anymore unless you're having a bad experience. The manager at this location seems really kind and cared a lot about this business. read more

My wife and I loved the Black Bear Diner in Colorado Springs and loved it. This new diner in Olathe is nothing like it. The kitchen was so slow and backed up that you could see the tension on the servers waiting for the orders. I seen the table beside us get up and leave shortly after we were seated. We waited for 45 minutes for our order before deciding to leave. We are very disappointed for we do like the chain. This restaurant needs better management to get the kitchen running smoothly. I ordered two of the slow-cooked pot roasts in the 'little less dinners'. There is very little pot roast, covered by an excessive amount of vegetables. I thought the same thing about the regular sized version, which I previously had, at the restaurant. At the top of the 'little less dinners' heading, it mentions corn muffins. The menu is vast but the food was about the quality you'd expect getting a home cooked meal from your grandma. Maybe that's all you're looking for but I was hoping for any kind of unique flavor and the food was about as plain as you can get. I got the prime rib and frankly, mine is more flavorful. We made our first visit to the Black Bear Diner this afternoon. It is a fabulous family restaurant, decorated with carved black bears. I had one of the club sandwiches. Very good. My husband had breakfast, also good. One thing you just have to get. A large delicious waffle. Waffles are made with sweet cream. This place is very weird. Too many lights on, need to dim. Place smells like 5 cents coffee. Carpet needs cleaning very dirty. They're coffee says 5 cents and is 4 dollars! All of sudden I'm in McDonald's they're ice cream machine isn't working! Don't come here to cheap not worth it. read more

I did an original post about a month ago after my first visit. I have to say the two other times Ive been there have been extremely disappointing. My wife & I went for breakfast over the weekend. My wife ordered an omelet without peppers and added avocado, when the omelet came out, it was loaded with peppers and didn't have avocado. she immediately sent it back. The waitress came over told my wife that she did not tell her that she didn't want peppers. I ordered the vege omelet, it was very bland, the peppers and onions were still raw. The only thing good about the meal was the company that I had. I will never go back. read more

First off, the blackberry bear claw was simply awesome. Really tasty and fresh. Went way down hill from there. Ordered the corned beef hash and eggs. Hash browns were mushy and bland. No seasoning or flavor, and the way they're cut they just don't crisp up at all. The corned beef hash was pretty dry and the potatoes were just boiled. The corned beef (shredded from a brisket) in the hash had a decent flavor but was just too dry to eat. The potatoes in the hash were just boiled and no seasoning. More bland than the hash browns. And they were cold. My daughter got a side of sausage with her pancakes. Pancakes got an A, but the sausage was as mushy as the hash browns. Server was super nice, and brought out "super crispy hash browns". No different from first batch but at least she tried. Portions are quite large. Scrambled eggs are bland rubbery liquid eggs. Biscuit was good, and quite large. Overall just kind of bland and uninspiring, even though we'd looked forward to trying it out. I did speak to the Manager on the way out, , he did comp the meal, even though I didn't ask him to. He asked me to come back and give it another try. Maybe it's just the new staff? Oh my what a place and very good food and a lot of it. They also allow splitting of meals and some selections are available in smaller portions. You can order breakfast any time of the day. Tonight I had the fried chicken dinner. 6 people in our group and we all had different items and everybody loved what they had. Great pies but had to go home with us no room for pie after we ate. Ordering delivery can be hit or miss when it comes to food but I was very pleased with what I got. The portions are large and the food was good. In addition to dinner I ordered the blackberry cobbler and that was also a large portion for the price. Looking forward to visiting in person. read more

I walked in and was greeted by the host Jackie who was very kind and smiling. She took me to a section where I noticed a woman server that I have known for a couple of years and so I shouted out her name Rebecca and Jackie asked if I wanted to sit in her section instead which of course I took her up on that. Rebecca promptly greeted me with a big smile and hug and took care of my drink order suggesting the new drink that they have on the seasonal menu. She took time to explain the things with it they were out of and her personal favorites, Marcus stopped by to ask how everything was. I got my omelette hashbrowns and strawberry lemon pancake and it was all amazing. Since opening my family and I have eaten at BBD multiple times. Each visit we try to get something different from the menu and each time we are happy with our choices. The food is always fresh and temperature appropriate as it arrives to the table. If you're looking for a quick meal BBD may not be for you. If you're accustomed to eating fresh food then you understand the prep and cooking take just a little bit longer, but it is so worth it! Make sure you're hungry when you arrive because the servings are large, which makes for wonderful left overs the next day. The salads are huge so get the dressing on the side and ask for a to-go box. They have the best pancakes in town and are so large they can be a meal on their own. The whole staff all the way up to management are efficient, professional and friendly, creating a fun atmosphere as soon as you walk in. BBD has become a family favorite and I suspect will stay that way for a very long time. read more

I have eaten here three times and have gotten the same thing each time. First I will start off with the positive. The chicken fried steak is THE BEST that I have ever had. It is so tender that you can cut it with a fork. Now the other side. The fries have always arrived barely warm and not that tasty. Also I have gotten a chocolate milkshake each time it has not been thick and all and is more like a tasty glass of cold chocolate milk. We understand although she should've written things down to be 100 % accurate . She told us they would be out few minutes, that turned into 20 and still no hash browns .
