Disappointed on our dinner. Salad had a moldy tomato in it. We were given the soup instead and it was very bland. The pot roast was ok but the mashed potatoes and side veggies were not good. We also had the chicken fried steak and it was so-so. If you go....try their breakfast items, they seem much better. read more

Went to the Black Bear Diner twice within opening week with high expectation for breakfast. Came away both times thinking it was OK but nothing to really make me want to go back. First time had Sweet Cream Pancakes with scrambled eggs & bacon. Bacon was excellent, crisp but not over done and not too fatty. Eggs were okay, but not killer & pancakes were bit, you get 2 but nothing that screamed eat me again. They give you a little plastic container of sryup which would be enough for a dollar size pancake but not these. Was disappointed this combo didn't come with potatoes, especially for the price which I think is pricey for breakfast $8-9. Then went back later in the week & had french toast combo, again with no potatoes, what's up with that? French toast was okay but nothing spectacular. Fresh squeezed orange juice was great. Anyways if you want a good breakfast I suggest the original pancake house or Eggs in the City. read more

Had breakfast here three weeks ago and ended up racing my wife to the bathroom when we got home. Discounting the fact that we both got sick, the food wasn't that tasty, hmm... This is a hit or miss type of restaurant. The prices are fair and the portion size will fill you up. The service has always been great for me. The hit or miss in this place is in the quality of the food. I have gone here twice and ordered the fish and chips. The first time I ordered the dish, it was really good. The second time was completely the opposite. The fish was cold and the tarter sauce was more mayonnaise then anything. This is just one example I can think of, but there are loads of other dishes where one visit they are good and in another visit they are bad and visa versa. This could be a really great restaurant if they start having some consistency with the quality of their food. The restaurant cooks need to make sure they make the same recipe, for the dishes to the condiments. I hope they do start to move in this direction, because like I said, this restaurant has the potential to be a whole lot better then it is. read more

The food is good but the service leaves a lot to be desired. It seems like it takes forever for the food to be served. You would think that a restaurant that sees a lot of kids would be smart enough to make sure that the kids get served first. Not so. Perhaps it is part of a management decision to discourage families from dining. Whatever, the problems appear to be systemic, so the blame must go to the management. read more

The food that I ordered was delicious however I am leaving a one star review because of witnessing how they treated another customer. A lady sat down with a service dog and was immediately yelled at by an employee. I could over hear their conversation and the following conversation with the manager. The lady needed the service dog because she would randomly pass out and he was trained to help. Very, very slow and poor service. Poor management with "Tam" at AF, UT location. Always dirty with sloppy debris under tables and aisles. Waited over 45 minutes for simple Eggs Benedict and an omelette, so after our prolonged sipping of the water (we arrived at 8:45 pm - almost NO ONE there), we had to leave... Manager said, "wait, your food is coming now - we were waiting on your hashbrowns..." We didn't have time to wait for the potatoes to grow! Came here after hearing how phenomenal it was and I was not disappointed. I got the Vegetarian Omelette, strip hashbrowns and sourdough toast. I was really hungry and hoping that I would feel full after I ate. The vegetarian omelette was HUGE and they did not cheat you on the veggies. Fresh spinach, mushroom, bell pepper, onions... It tasted very fresh. The toast was really thick cut and I could actually tell it was sourdough. I definitely will be coming here again. Very satisfied !! read more

Nice atmosphere and a smiling waitress were great. Baked beans were good. Baby red mashed potatoes w/ gravy were fine. However, bacon-wrapped stuffed chicken was terrible!! First, it wasn't bacon-wrapped; it was bacon-topped. And the cheese was awful!! The chicken was tasteless and colorless on its own. Also, the medium T-bone steak was medium well. And lastly, the timing of courses needed improvement. We weren't even close to finishing our salads when our entrees arrived. (And the lite honey mustard dressing was very good.) And although our waitress was smiling, I saw several other servers who weren't. read more

Another server per shift or a drink helper, etc. would really do wonders for this place. Also, they really don't have a ton of seating, so if you are looking to do brunch on a Saturday or Sunday, you'd better go EARLY. Terrible service. Food was okay though. The waitress we had molly was horrible. And obviously did not want to be there. She was less than polite. Never said your welcome when we thanked her. Seemed irritated with questions and lost our ticket so our food took 45 min to get. It was about 2 pm and was not packed so the long ticket time was just that. We had to ask another server for silverware and never saw her once we did have our food finally. She was bust talking. We had t9 ask for a check from the manager that was at the register. Don't bother eating here! First, the waitress brought a an extra plate for the two people in our group who were sharing one item. The plate was clearly dirty. It had a big glob of something that looked sticky, like icing. We gave it back to the waitress, said it was dirty and asked for a clean one. She brought us a clean one and said that their plate aren't dirty, they're just old and worn. She had carried that first plate (the dirty one) from the kitchen to our table and then back and didn't seem to see it was dirty. No, she wasn't old. She looked like she was in her early 20s. If she'd casually glanced at the plate, she would have seen the sticky glob on it! Second, we ordered a tri-tip dip sandwich. The meat had lots of big globs of fat on it. We cut all the fat off before eating it, and it was about one third fat! Third, we had biscuits and gravy. After eating more than half of it, we noticed several black, furry spots in the biscuits. We aren't sure what it was, but it looked like mold or some kind of fungus. read more

Unless you want religion shoved down your throat at 9 AM I suggest you go somewhere a little less self righteous.
