Burnt burgers, forgotten sides, bland food. You really have to try to screw up a cheese burger, but forgetting the cheese is the first step and over cooking it is the second. Having to be reminded that someone ordered a shake three times doesn't get you a good tip and completely forgetting the side salad topped off the unforgettable service we recieved. Place was slow on our Sunday afternoon visit, service was slow and very poor. How you screw up three of the four orders is beyond me but you guys did it! Won't be returning!! read more

I used to be in the restaurant business, not anymore but I did for almost 8 years. Most of which was spent as a General Manager, Assistant Manager or Training Manager. I know resteraunts, I know customer service and this place obviously does not. I received food that was ordered by myself and a group of co-workers. We work at a close by Dental Office and ordered some brunch for pick up like we do from time to time. My co-worker places the large order while I was with a patient. Somewhere along the line a mistake was made. The order may have been placed wrong or it was taken wrong, I have know way of really knowing because no one knows how to admit they make mistakes anymore. So here is where I became upset, not so much in the mistake itself because that happens. Lord I know how much it happens. My distaste for this restaurant came after I called to get the mistake fixed. I explained that I ordered a meal and specifically asked for the scramble to not have sausage in it. I believe it was Titled as a "Sausage" scramble on the menu but I didn't want the sausage I just wanted everything else. No big deal right? Wrong. I was spoken to very disrespectfully. Employee- Why would you order the Chicken Sausage scramble and not want Sausage? **Not really you business why I order my food the way I do, that's irrelevant. But what the hell.** Me- I'm a vegetarian. That's why. I wanted the Fit Scramble without the sausage, I don't see the problem? Employee- Well I made that order myself and it did not say anything about no sausage. **Did I mention how rude this person was?** Me- Ok well I'm not sure why it didn't say that on the order but that's the way I asked for my food to be made. Employee- Well I made it myself and it didn't say that so you did your order wrong. That's not our fault. Me- Excuse me? Can I please speak to you manager? Employee- I am the manager. Me- Wow. I ordered food that was made incorrectly and your telling me that it's my fault? Manager- I don't see why we should take a hit just because you did the order wrong. Me- I didn't make the order, a different employee made everyones order. Even if my co-worker mistakingly left out the no sausage part of my order you are handling this horribly. Usually the problem is fixed without question in these type of situations because the couple of dollars it costs to re make the food is nothing compared to permanently loosing a customer or the bad rap you will get when said customer tells all their family and friends about their experience. Manager- Well I'll remake it for you but I still don't see how it's fair that we have to take a hit because of a mistake that wasn't our fault. Me- You know, I've worked in restaurants for most of my adult life and I have always lived by the customers always right saying even when the customer is wrong. Because customer service goes a long way. Regardless of who's fault it is it boils down to my food being made wrong and now we've spent most my lunch debating why you should take "the hit" for a mistake you see as mine. Manager- Like I said we will remake the food for you...... Me- I've lost my appetite and I'd like a refund. Manager- We can't offer refunds. Me- Well that's a downright lie, I know for a fact you can. Manager- Youll have to come back to the restaurant. Me- I've spent the better part if my break arguing with you so I have no time to return to the restaurant. My next patient is already here. So I'm gonna need you to refund my money please. Manager- *Sigh* Ok I can do this for you this one time but I won't again. Like I said before it makes no sense that we take a hit because you made your order wrong. Me- Thank you for refunding my money. I have to go now. Click. Really? I mean really? Whoever is the so called manager has horrible customer service and whoever is her higher up should seriously consider having a discussion with her about how to address customer concerns. This restaurant is fantastic and one of my favorites however this location has a few female employees that like to hang out in the bathroom ( this bathroom has 2 stalls) neither of the girls was actually using the bathroom in any way except for a place to chat. That is so weird. As someone with anxiety this was horrible for me and made it so I couldn't use the restroom. One of the girls literally said, " I'm taking my break in here" I would've understood that statement if she was using the restroom or fixing something in the mirror. She was not, she was just sitting there talking to another girl. Overall all I have to say is, employees that work at this restaurant please do not hang out in the bathrooms it's just weird. read more

I've been here 4-5 times and have never really been impressed. They do have decent hash browns. It's hard to explain how much I hated this place. I have never had a worse waffle. You know those waffles that you sometimes get at free breakfast bars at hotels? The orange juice here is really good, not that canned crap that tastes like chalk. The servings are enormous and very good! The service is more like a three star but this place gets a 4 stars because of the food and the orange juice... you really gotta try it (even though some days is not the best but amazing most of the time!). We stopped here tonight for chicken fried steak. The restaurant was an absolute wreck, which should have been our first clue. The salads were iffy with grated carrots that looked pale and dry. They'd definitely seen better days along with the limp cucumbers. To the side was a concrete muffin that was dry and hard as a rock. Every part of the edge (muffin top) was broken off in pieces and resting in the paper muffin wrapper that it was delivered in. Nothing could have saved that rock and nothing would have made it edible. The "meal" came out in just as bad form. The vegetable medley was discolored carrots that were brown and looking pretty sorry and broccoli that had some sort of scum and discoloration on the cut stem. It was absolutely disgusting. A couple of bites in and some mystery pieces in my meal and I was done. Our fountain drinks were in need of a refill when the server dropped off the food and, although she passed by our table a dozen times, she never once considered refilling them or asking if we needed anything, or how the food was, etc. My guess is that she was very well aware of the situation. When she finally appeared to drop off the check, I asked to speak with a manager. Ericka replied that there was not a manager on duty and she was acting as the manager. She did not ask anything else and did not seem equipped or interested to hear what I might want to say to said manager. I felt it was fruitless to complain to a server who saw nothing wrong with delivering the worst meal on the planet to our table. Shame on you, Black Bear Diner. Not sure where to even start. We decided to go to Black Bear Diner to celebrate my Mothers birthday. I sure wish we had not chosen Black Bear. There's was only one server for the entire restaurant. We started to order our meal and two of us chose the prime rib dinner. It clearly stated in the menu that the meal came with cornbread muffin, soup or salad, and choice of potato and vegetable. We pointed this out to the server and she was sure that the meal did not come with cornbread and a soup or salad. We finished ordering and the server went to enter the order into the computer. The server came back and did say that the prime rib dinner came with a salad. I asked what the soup of the day was and was told that while it was chicken noodle there was not enough left for a serving. This is the middle of dinner time on a Saturday and you are already out of soup. We then ordered a salad and waited for our food. We were served our salads without the cornbread but figured it was still coming. We were then served our food. We had ordered two tri-tip dip deluxe, one without the mushrooms, both prime ribs were to be prepared medium rare, a crispy chicken, bacon, ranch wrap tossed in the hot sauce, and a Volcano breakfast. The one tri-tip dip had mushrooms on it and neither one was served with the au jus to dip the sandwich in. One of the prime rib dinners was well done, not close to medium rare, the other prime rib dinner was so tough you could hardly cut it into bite size pieces and the wrap did not have the hot sauce on it. We asked for the au jus for the sandwiches and sent back the overcooked prime rib. It took over 20 minutes to finally get the Au jus and took us asking three times to get it. By the time it finally came the sandwiches were cold. The prime rib that was sent back came out again and was still well done. The sides came with this prime rib dinner were now cold as the server took the entire meal back when she went back. We asked to speak with a manager only to be told there was none on shift. Even after all this we decided to purchase a chocolate pie to go. When we got home we went to enjoy the pie only to find out that it was rotten. The crust was totally liquified and the pie itself tasted like sour milk. During our dining experience we all had run out of water and when I asked for more water the server brought one glass. We had to ask for every little thing it seemed like. After we were done with the meal, and realized we were not going to get our cornbread without asking we asked for that as well. The server did bring that to us to go, as we had asked, but it honestly looked like someone had taken a bite out of one of the cornbreads. The tri-tip French dips were also really tough, had very little meat, and looked like a pre-schooler had put them together. The only meal that was semi-decent was the breakfast. However he had to ask several times for more syrup, and ice water. This is the most disappointing dinning experience any of us have ever had. Black Bear used to be good, but I won't recommend it ever again. read more

All the servers had passed us at least 5 times within 5 minutes and no one greeted us or offered water. We've been waiting for 10 almost 15 minutes before our server noticed us. It being our first time there we didn't know the menu was in a form of a newspaper we waited patiently to be to be asked what we wanted. Our server had no type of customer service and gave us attitude when we asked for more time. We noticed another couple coming in and seconds after they sat down they were greeted and asked what they wanted from the same server we had. Since I ordered online on bbds website I called the restaurant directly. I was told that since the food left the restaurant with the Door Dash driver that I couldn't be helped. I contacted Door dash and they said since it was ordered on the restaurants website that they couldn't help me. I paid 22 bucks for food and did not receive any food. This place was already mediocre.. service was ok and order was missed on extras that were asked for. The food was I'd say decent to good. Where it gets the one star is that 30-45 minutest after eating there all three of us roommates came down with severe gastrointestinal distress which reminded one roomie that his mom had mentioned same thing. That would have brought it to two stars but then when I called the manager didn't seem to care. Both myself and one of my roommates are trained chefs and so if someone calls in about multiple GI issues from different plates then you should spring into action and they didn't care. Not great coffee, but hey, it's a diner. So, good diner coffee. - Chicken Apple Sausage: so yummy, you'll want to slap Johnny Appleseed's Mom. - Huge 3-egg omelettes with great ingredient choices. Plenty of mention has been made of their Sweet Cream Pancakes. I found them way too sweet. I'm sure this appeals to most people who can appreciate the intense sweet, but not I. I want my pancakes to taste like pancakes, not a sweet roll. I now opt for their Seven-Grain Granola cakes. Hubby orders the Turkey Dinner, no matter what time of day we're here. He says it's "awesome," which, for him, is a whole lotta description of delicious. It's piled on the plate, looks like Thanksgiving, and his plate is licked clean within 6 minutes. He's a big fan. They offer a wide menu with lots of selection (5 different varieties of sausage, people!). Creative omelette choices, smaller portion options, Bacon Benedict, and something called The Volcano! Everything is reasonably priced, so you can bring the fam. We've been on Saturday and Sunday, early and late for the breakfast hour, and never waited longer than 10 minutes to be seated. We've never had inadequate or subpar service, either. Coffee is refilled regularly, delicious food is delivered promptly to our table, and we haven't been made to wait extensively for anything.
