I have the California burger. It was delicious everything on there was incredible! It comes with Avocado, lettuce, onion, tomato, thousand island dressing, and jack cheese. 10 out of 10 and I highly recommend it. The service was pretty good, our waiter who is also the manager there was sweet and consistently checked in on us to make sure we had everything. The only negative I will say is that the place was dirty. There was more enough people that were walking around as far as employee goes. My friend and I were in there for close to an hour and the front counter was dirty with dishes and food as well as Three tables that were left with dishes, piling up as well as crumbs all over the tables. One employee clean the dishes off of one table and then never did come back to finish cleaning it and left the other table a mess as well. I believe that they are hiring from what the manager said, they may just need more people to be working, but it definitely was weird and there was many people that were coming into the restaurant to eat like big parties. Absolutely DISAPPOINTED with our Family Valentine's Day dinner at Black Bear Yucca Valley!? We usually Love Black Bear Diner in Torrance & in Downey, so I took my Wife & our 2 sons to the Yucca Valley location for V-day since we're visiting Joshua Tree this weekend and could NOT believe how bad it was! We arrived around 7:30pm on Fri Feb 14th and my Wife ordered the NY Steak w/ a Baked Potato, but we were told they had run out of Baked Potatoes (on a Friday night?? On Valentine's Day?? That should NEVER happen!?), so she ordered Sweet Potato Fries and asked for the Corn Bread to come out with her Salad - then our waitress responded with, "We are all out of Corn Bread, too!" Wait, wait, wait!? No Baked Potatoes and NO Corn Bread, TWO of Black Bear Diner's Signature Food Items and you RAN OUT of BOTH on Valentine's Day!? I was so frustrated, I then asked, can you please bring me a Sweet Tea, and was told that the sweet tea machine was broken, all they had was regular Iced Tea!? If not for the fact that we had TWO hungry boys with us, we would've gotten up and walked out at that point, but we bit the bullet and stayed. Did our waitress feel bad, apologize or offer us any thing to make up for these THREE items not being available? Heck no! No Apology, No Free Dessert, not even an "I am really sorry, is there any way I can make it up to you?" NOTHING! Just a "We were really busy earlier and we're out of a lot of things today!" I came by with my friends after KOH and wanted to eat some good breakfast, I've always loved black bear dinner but Beth's customer service was above and beyond, we never had to ask for refills she would come by and refill as soon as we were finished up, she was a great host and will definitely come back just for her, also the fishing rods as decoration was an amazing touch. I came here 3 times and each experience we had was different. First time we went here we were seated and waiting for 45 minutes before a waiter showed up to offer us our drinks. I really wanted to love this place. I visited the original Black Bear Diner long ago. The menu is huge and the food servings are plentiful. The food was good but not great. My friend's sweet potato fries were not fresh and the service was just okay. I was disappointed with the food and service. The ambiance is cute with the bear theme but the restaurant did not live up to the story told in the newspaper menu. By the way I had a burger with fries and my friend had the club with sweet potato fries, both forgettable. read more

The food was great! I got the tri tip full dinner meal, which was amazing. It was cooked just how I requested, the loaded baked potato was great, bacon sliced to perfection as well. Veggies were perfectly salted and tasted great. My friend oredered the chicken fried steak, which was perfect, the white cheddar macaroni and cheese, onion rings, and the garlic parmesan toast, all perfect! Then, our server, Daniel was amazing. Very friendly, even though he was running all over the place the whole night. He made some recommendations for food and drinks and waited on us, along with half of the diner without complaint. He checked in with us at the perfect times without interfering with our conversation or moments of enjoying our meals. The ambiance is cute. I loved all the bears, this was my first time in a black besr diner and I look forward to going back. I'm definitely bringing the kids next time, as they will love it. P.S. cost was not bad at all. i highly recommend this restaurant to everybody. i was greeted with a smile and seated right away. my waitress was Liz and she was just a blessing. she brought me a drink right away and her knowledge of the menu was second to none. She gave me the best customer experience i've had in a very long time and she did this will a full restaurant. my food was bright and colorful and was delicious. i think i found my regular spot. Food is great and the portion is so satisfying! The kids bear pancakes are so cute that even I want one! The waitress is friendly and everyone in the diner seems to be having a good time. It seems they are short on staff, though. We got here on Sunday morning for brunch, there were six parties waiting ahead of us while there were at least five empty tables in the back. Went here for lunch last week, and there were 8 customers in the reception area. Not one employee to be found. We waited for more than 5 minutes and saw no one. The fed ex guy finally went to the kitchen to get his package signed for. Saw 4 employees get sodas and head back to the kitchen without even looking at us. The hostess finally came to the front with a to go order and asked us if we wanted to put our name on the list, seriously? There were 3 customers seated and tons of empty tables. There was no reason she couldn't have seated both us and the ladies ahead of us immediately. All 4 of us left. We got there and ordered at 11:00 30 minutes later we asked a waitress where our food was and she said she would check, she never came back but we saw that everyone that came after us got served their food and so we had to go and told the waitress we had to go at this point, she said here's my manager, we started to explain that we think we were forgotten... with no apology, short and curt attitude he says "Okay.. Bye bye". We couldn't believe how he was acting... arrogant comes to mind... Hamburger was overcooked. It seems like they are precooked and then cooked again. Impossible to get one medium rare. It was 30 minutes from the time I sat down to the time I got my food. I approached the store set to open in Yucca Valley Ca on September 13 2023. There was a sign on the building door so I wanted to check it for an opening date. I was met at the door by someone on a bench who I assume was one of your employees. They were extremely rude, unfriendly, and unwelcoming. I was approached with a very rude, is there something I can help you with? This gentleman acted as if I was trying to break into the building when I simply explained I was walking up to read the sign to see if it was open or when it would be opening. I had pulled up in my vehicle with two other family members one being a child in my car, it wasn't like I appeared out of nowhere. I was laughed at with a rude snark when I tried to inquire about other opening information. I used to live in Northern California and have eaten at many of your locations but you can bet I will NEVER eat at this location. I have a lot of family here in Southern California most specifically near the location of this new restaurant. First impressions are everything as I'm sure your company would agree. I don't know the name of this gentlemen but he had the information I was looking for so I assume he is an employee. I will be passing along my experience to my friends and family so they can save their money and time and avoid an extremely rude individual in your establishment. This business has had months to get their schedule coordinated only to be told they are closing an hour before their posted times on google and their page. Hope they can figure it out. We had never been to a Black Bear Diner and had heard how good it was. This is was not the case of our visit. My husband and I ordered Tri tip with onion rings and green beans. The steak was so tough that we couldn't chew it. When our server came with the bill and asked how it was we politely told her; it was clearly obvious as the steak was still on our plates. She handed us our bill and said she would let the kitchen know. There were a fair number of wait staff and others but we never were given refills on water or drinks, nor did anyone check in with us. Chalk all of this up to new opening, so we may try again and hope they earn their reputation. read more
