My tot scramble plus a potato pancake
    Rachel B.

OH YEAHHHHH this is the place you want. It's all-day breakfast, lunch and dinner, and it's like the upper Midwest on a plate. I came here with my darling children while home visiting my folks. We were seated rapidly and served rapidly too. I had something called the Tot Scrambler and it was basically an homage to poutine: tots, onions, bacon, scrambled egg, gravy. Yes, it's every bit as awesome as it sounds. My daughter had an egg-n-cheese croissant and sweet potato fries and the fries were excellent. My son had an enormous meal with French toast which he caused to disappear with remarkable speed. As is my custom, I give this place 5 stars because it is a perfect avatar of its genre. Being here is like the emotional equivalent of falling into a vat of macaroni and cheese. (Which, if they have it here, is surely perfect.) Parking was fine and handicap access was fine too. If I still lived here in Appleton I would come here every month for sure.

4x4 breakfast - two eggs, bacon, sausage and rye toast

A really solid place for breakfast. I've been there several times and have enjoyed the quality of their food, great service and decent prices. A good sign for any diner is a restaurant with a full parking lot. This place always has a packed lot. While the inside isn't fancy and is a bit dated, it is clean. There is also room for parties having a larger number of guests. The menu is packed full of breakfast items and their lunch offerings always sound appealing (I've always went for breakfast). I really like their coffee and they are always good about refilling your cup. The breakfasts I enjoyed have had ample portions, been properly prepared and are reasonably priced. In my book, those qualities are more rare by the day. I'll definitely continue to return in the future.

American fries were great, but could have been hotter. See through bacon could have been thicker. Don't recommend a frozen puck burger. Why not make the king of sandwiches from fresh ground beef? Prices were fair.

I stopped here for dinner at 6 pm and the place was packed. I was seated right away, and my server took my drink order. When she came back, I ordered the Country Fried Steak along with American Fries. It was served right away, and it was really nothing to look at, but boy did it taste good. The steak was very tender and flavorful. There was plenty of gravy and the American Fries were perfectly cooked. Overall, this was a really good meal for the money and the service was quick and efficient, I will stop here again when I am in town.

Delicious food that was great value for the price! Lovely wait staff that were very quick and helpful.

Avocado benedict; I couldn't choose what was harder: the egg or the muffin

The atmosphere is that of a party ready to break out at any minute. Meet new people at the bar! But the food! Oh my, the food. Everything was wonderful - from the Scotch Egg to the Creme Brulé. A perfect steak, a generous plate of seafood. And an easy smile from our wonderful waitress Sarah, who seemed to be having almost as much fun as we were. Why am I 60 years old and never had a deep-fried sauerkraut ball with horsey sauce? Don't wait, just go. You won't regret it.

They have a dedicated fryer and they make their own (gluten free) breading. I started with Mark's famous French Onion soup (you must have this!), them went on to the Bavarian platter that includes Veiner Schnitzel (oh damn, that was good), Bavarian sausage, smoked pork chop with apple sauce, and gluten free dumplings. My wife had the Reuben sandwich and onion rings. I wish they had a younger clientele. Younger folks would really enjoy their great selections! I didn't know how busy it gets, but they had plenty of tables open, although we came at about 5pm. The ambience was favorable to the dining. The lighting was intimate but not dark. The bathroom was clean and worth a good review by itself.

I'm basing this rating on just my experience...others in my party like their food better than I. Both this and the last time we were there, when you arrive, you check in with the bartender and they give you the menu. Then, once you're ready to order, the server comes out to take your order. A few minutes later, they tell you which table to sit at in the dining room. I really don't like this system. I understand doing this if you're waiting for a table because you're drinking at the bar or a table because they're full. The only time we were offered to order a drink was at the bar...the server never asked. What an easy upsell! I know we could have ordered something, but we all stuck with the water as we had been out touring all day. Has she offered, I would have gotten something. 4/5 of the meals we had came with the salad bar. Which I was really looking forward to. She never directed us up there...we just went. Food was only ok. My tenderloin didn't have a lot of flavor. I couldn't eat all of it because of the fat. The meat used to be better. Other people in our group had haddock, prime rib and a hamburger. They liked theirs. The potato and salad bar were good. When you walk by the kitchen, which is at the end of the salad bar and near the bathroom, it smelled like urine. I don't know if it was one of the older people there or if it was a building issue. I'm done giving them a chance. I live out of state now and I used to look forward to going there. I'm over that, now. I'll drive out of town for a different supper club.

The menu features classic breakfast favorites, with generous portions and solid quality. The French toast was good, although it wasn't the traditional brioche-style French toast I prefer. The scrambled eggs, however, absolutely hit the spot. Service was great, the ambiance was welcoming, and I really had no complaints. I didn't have enough time to explore more of the menu, but I'd definitely come back to try some of their other breakfast options. Great food, great service, and a local favorite--definitely worth checking out!

There is a hostess stand and an area to sit while you wait for a table (it was about a 10 minute wait for a table). Service: They delivered the food and refilled coffee and waters promptly. Food: They can't accommodate any custom requests. I asked for extra crispy bacon on my eggs benedict and they said they would see what they could do. It was really soggy and chewy so I couldn't eat it (texture issue). Do not order the eggs benedict, three of us at the table ordered different variations of this dish and were all disappointed (zero texture, extra soggy, no flavor, too much hollandaise sauce). Do not order the eggs benedict on the potato pancakes if you are hungry, the potato pancakes were as thin as a dime and the size of my hand. I left hungry and went home to eat. The one person who didn't order the eggs benedict loved their food. The rest of the food that was coming out looked great, I think we just ordered the wrong dishes. We'll give this place a try again in the future to try something else off the menu.
