I got to the airport early and had about an hour to eat. This was the most appealing restaurant for a sit down meal in this small airport. There was a little bit of a line to see the hostess and get seated. PRO TIP: It is open seating at the bar so if you don't mind that, skip the line and go straight to the bar. After about 10 minutes moving up in the line, I was seated at a table "outside" where you could see others in the airport. From there the service was fast as it is an airport location and they know people need to catch their flights. I got the chicken parmigiana sandwich, which I did not realize was a sandwich until it came out. It was okay as the sauce tasted generic and the sides were just okay. BBS has the best beer selection at Bradley, and their hours are later than the bars by the gates, so definitely choose wisely. This spot can get quite busy, though, so if you're in a rush, be sure to peep in and see what the situation is. I had over an hour to kill, and that was important during their super busy time, which appeared to be around 6pm on this given Friday. I got the Caesar with chicken. I tasted frozen cod fish, batter was hard, chips tasted old, and coleslaw smelled bad like mouthwash. Don't waste your time, just move on to other place if you want fish. I come here on occasion when I'm at BDL waiting for departure. This place typically has slower service which is why I hesitate coming here sometimes. The food here has mostly been underwhelming. The flat breads, appetizers, and sandwiches are just ok. Where they really excel is the salads though! I've had a couple of seasonal salads here (includinga Brussels sprout one) and have been very happy with the meal. It's mostly a very healthy choice to fill up on at a reasonable price. Anyway, there aren't many choices at Bradley, so we went here. The tap list is decent, so we enjoyed a few pints. We chose sandwiches-I had Erin's Blackened Chicken and my sister had the Kodiak. Located in the BDL airport this nice looking restaurant is large and is inside the secure area. I experienced a long wait to be seated which was hard to understand given all of the open tables. I wasn't in a hurry to catch my flight so the long wait to be seated and then to place my order didn't bother me. The burger that I ordered was good but slightly undercooked. My flight to CT is always an overnight flight so I would arrive at Bradley airport at 8-9 in the morning and since this place was already open, I would come here for breakfast and while waiting for time to pass before it's enough time for me to go to my hotel for check in (noon). However they don't really want you to stay too long though. They'll always check on you repeatedly and after a few times asking, they'll go ahead and put check on your table even when you haven't finished your meal yet. The staffs here are always friendly. They would try to accommodate your request if they can. There's a sign "Please wait to be seated" by the entrance but the staff is rarely there so people always look confused waiting for someone to come. Foods are pretty standard and bland, you need to add salt and pepper yourself for flavor. read more

I would give this restaurant 4 stars for the friendly staff and very fast food service......the actual food on the other hand is just regular decent airport food. I ordered the Thai wings and I think I took about three sips of my ice tea and my food was on the table. The wings tasted like processed pre-cooked food that you can buy at your grocery store - but I like eating that type of food once in a while so I can't complain. Yeah these guys really annoy me So on the menu they have a list of beers. Some are "on deck" and some are on tap. So i ordered an on deck one (there is a price and everything). As in many airports that aren't huge, the food options aren't plentiful. It is basically the only sit down restaurant within the particular terminal. For being the only sit down, it wasn't half bad. I started with the french onion soup - ironically, I think it could have used a little more salt. Usually, restaurants will over salt the soup if anything, but this one seemed to be on the opposite end of the spectrum. It was still a good soup, which I ate the whole thing. I ordered the (fried) Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. I subbed the regular fries for sweet potato fries for $1.79 more. The buffalo chicken had shredded gouda and 3 pieces of bacon on top, as well as a small salad with bleu cheese dressing. It all complimented each other VERY well. My only hold back for giving this place 4 stars was the lack of freshness... It was definitely box or cheap bacon, as well as generic cheese. The chicken also tasted/looked like a frozen breaded chicken patty. Luckily, their (homemade) buffalo sauce was a good add. The salad/bleu cheese dressing added to the sandwich, making it more of a star than it would have been without those two things. The sweet potato fries looked almost overcooked, but were delicious! The service was professional, and fast. I wouldn't mind stopping here in the future if I flew through this airport again. Fun fact: they have 12 rotating draughts which sounded fun! read more

Even after for-warning the server, my fries weren't hot, they weren't warm or even luke-warm. they were room temp at best. My roast beef sandwich (albeit moderately processed) was good though. Why not cook fries to order? I know it's easy to do, i did it as a young cook. Cook for the love of cooking. Serve hot food hot and cold food cold. It's all about the details. I'm compelled to write this review because the manager or bartender at 6pm close on 3/27/22 was extremely rude to my wife and I without any reason at all to be. We walked in and sat down even though there was a closed sign because the restaurant was almost completely full and looked very much opened. We thought that the sign was just part of the hosted sign and didn't think a bar/restaurant would actually close at 6pm. We were told, in a very sour tone, by this individual that we had missed the boat and had to leave. We had no single instance of interaction with anyone there, employee or patron, before this. I made no reply, but simply left. I was taken aback by this rudeness and accidentally left my boarding pass on the bar upon leaving as I collected my luggage. As we walked away we heard the same individual loudly say, "don't they know how to read?" I found a wonderful place to sit and have a drink with my wife at The Two Roads Taproom. The bartender was making last call and let us and two others join her for the end of her shift. We had a good conversation and bought a drink or one of the others who sat down at the same time since it was her birthday. I returned to Black Bear Saloon to recover my boarding pass. I was engaged rudely again by the same individual and told that I should learn to read. I was very annoyed and replied simply by asking if a boarding pass had been found at the bar and indicated where I had briefly sat down by pointing. I don't know what was wrong, but in my years in hospitality I can't think of a good reason for the way that I was treated. I know that an airport restaurant does not rely on a reputation or repeat business, but I can say that this absolutely would not be the way that I would want my business to be represented. The wonderful and polite American Airlines staff at the gate were able to quickly and politely solved my small problem of needing new boarding passes in less than one minute. We were really annoyed by our experience at Black Bear Saloon and it seemed as if other diners were also. Unfortunately for this airport restaurant, I bet that patrons are either killing time or in a rush. We were rushing. The restaurant is divided into two sections. One section protrudes into the walkway and is separated by a low railing. This section is presumably the "outdoor" or "sidewalk" seating area. This area was dominated by two-seater tables. Conversely, the other section is "inside" and is separated by walls and a lowering gate. This area had a bar and booths. Some of the booths had individual flat-screen televisions. There were flat-screen televisions mounted in highly visible areas throughout the restaurant. We were seated in the outdoor area; however, we asked to move to a booth that had an electrical outlet. They never brought us water. We ordered only one thing: chicken breast sliders. When ordering, M handed the server her credit card and told her that she wanted to pay immediately. Although we told both the hostess and our server that we were in a hurry and only wanted to get food to go, each interaction was segmented by languid periods of time. In fact, it was largely due to this fact that I am giving them two stars. Black Bear Saloon should be better able to accommodate the two kinds of travelers mentioned earlier: those with ample time and those with none. I saw a man impatiently stand in the middle of the outdoor seating area, cash in hand, waiting to pay for his food and dash off. It was painful to watch and nearly mirrored my own anxiety to get to my plane that was already boarding. The food itself was tasty. The mini buns were perfectly buttered and toasted. The guacamole sauce was fresh and had an agreeable kick of spice. The chicken was well trimmed and cooked. My only complaint about the food was that each slider had only a small piece of chicken breast on it. The chicken was definitely dwarfed by the bun. Lots of celeb sightings here!! This is my go to place at BDL airport. Great bar, reasonably priced food...this place is the best to kill time before a flight. I've had a couple of their sandwiches here. Pretty standard bar food. French dip was pretty good. I bumped into Tim Leger, last time I was here. I went up to him and told him I watched him growing up and was a big fan. He laughed and said he doesn't meet many Washington Wizards fans. The bartender said she sees a lot of athletes that come through because of ESPN. I hope I can meet Hope Solo someday. A little about my credentials: I first got into cooking & food when I was in college. After being rejected by numerous girls and getting zero action, I decided it was time for a change.
