The reservation was easily made via Yelp. Al fresco seating filled the sidewalks in front of the dog-friendly eatery, and the open door allows chitchat to move freely in and out, creating a lively yet comfortable vibe. Upon entering as first-timers, the wooden bar commands attention, where my partner, his family, and I were greeted by the staff. The bar top is made from a slab of wood salvaged from a single fallen oak tree on the Rockefeller Preserve. We got a cozy table at the front window inside a bright, airy interior with earthy accent colors. Their menu features rustic New American cuisine with many vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options that change with the seasons. We decided on the Veggie Buffalo "Wings" with a side of fries, the Grass-Fed Cheeseburger, the Mushroom "Cheesesteak," and Maine Mussels. Complimentary vegan banana bread started our meal. I decided on the mushroom risotto as a first course which was outstanding--perfectly creamy risotto topped either mushrooms and a delicate touch of annato oil that brought everything together beautifully. For my main course again, many options that I could've went with, but decided on the eggs Benedict with pork belly, and it was absolutely delicious. The eggs were poached perfectly, and the hollandaise sauce was rich and flavorful. The country, potatoes, sautéed with onions and red peppers, were so tasty, and the side salad with dressing was light and refreshing. I also loved that there were several protein options you could've chose from to go on top of the English muffin beneath the poached eggs. We were too full to enjoy dessert there, but we took it home--an apple cheesecake dress with caramel sauce, and that same homemade whipped cream .
