The staff was polite, nothing out of the ordinary with the interaction, they took my order and I waited. I ordered the #1 Garden Goat grilled cheese and the tomato cup, it took quite some time but within reason as they are grilled to order. Now to the grilled sandwich, for a sandwich without meat; it was sweet, savory, and tangy, the flavors just worked together pretty well! The size of the sandwich bread isn't the same as what you'd typically grab from the grocery, they're big that you can potentially save the other half for later if you aren't very hungry. The tomato cup is good, but I think it pairs better with certain grilled cheese sandwiches (not with the Garden Goat as I enjoyed that without the soup). But, I didn't want to enjoy the tomato cup alone so I ordereded just simple side toast of sourdough from an adjacent vendor. We were at the Anaheim Packing District for a reservation at the Blind Rabbit and thought we would eat before from some of the various food places there. My girlfriend loves grilled cheese sandwiches so she chose the Black Sheep grilled cheese bar for her food. They are located upstairs and are the first food place to the right when you walk in the main front entrance. Their menu has ten different versions of a grilled cheese sandwich with various ingredients, but you can also configure your own which is what she went for. She ordered rye bread, with swiss and pepper jack cheeses, arugula pesto, and onions. They give you a vibrating pager to let you know when your order is ready. I ordered from another place and we ate our food at the Black Sheep counter. Her sandwich was ready pretty quick. It is a good sized sandwich and it comes with a slice of dill pickle. My husband and I stopped by the Anaheim Packing House on a weekday for an early dinner a few weeks ago. Although we have our favorite spots within the Packing House, we wanted to try something different and decided to order from Black Sheep GCB. We were warmly greeted upon approaching their stall. The staff member serving as the cashier was friendly and very patient with our questions as we sorted out what we wanted to eat. My hubby and I eventually decided on splitting the Pork of July. The wait time was reasonable as there were a few orders ahead of us. The product was worth the wait; a picture perfect grilled cheese sandwich that tasted just as good as it looked. The ratio of ingredients within the grilled cheese was good and complemented each other well. The sandwich was a little spicy for me. It wasn't a bad thing, it was just unexpected. My husband loved it. The cheese was a great texture without it making the whole sandwich too gooey. I'm usually not a fan of swiss cheese, but it worked perfectly with the components of this sandwich. Overall, we were pleased with our first experience with Black Sheep GCB. There were a handful of other sandwiches we wanted to try off of their menu and we look forward to doing so upon our next visit to the Anaheim Packing House. read more

This is one of the more appealing stands at the Anaheim Packing District complex, and it had one of the longest lines when I visited on a Saturday morning. It's basically an overpriced grilled cheese restaurant, but everybody loves that sandwich so you can't really go wrong. You'll pay around $10-$15 for a basic grilled cheese, with a little bit of chef-driven flair to the menu. I was disappointed at the limited options, and it would be so much better if they offered custom grilled cheeses. Like, pick your bread, cheese, and toppings, instead of a set menu. I didn't find a lot o the options that appealing, so I had to ask for a modification and it really seemed to annoy the lady working behind the counter. (I've noticed they may have added a custom option since but when I was there, they did not offer that option). When I am paying $14.00 for two slices of bread and some melted cheese, it had better be crafted of the best gourmet ingredients possible. While I did like the quality and creaminess of the cheese, I thought the bread was lacking. It didn't taste like freshly baked bread, and they really should use better bread. It crisped up nicely (oh, that crunch is addictive!!), but it wasn't hefty enough. I wanted more sourdough flavor that just wasn't there. The cheese was thick and gooey, but I needed more of it. I found them to be very stingy with the ingredients, including a pathetic pickle spear on the side (c'mon, give me a BIG OL' PICKLE)! I probably wouldn't return to Black Sheep, but I didn't hate my sandwich. It's a little too basic to justify the aloof and annoyed service and the high prices for bread and cheese. read more

I don't think I've ever gone to Anaheim Packing house and not get a grilled cheese from Black Sheep. This place is the OG! It's been here since the opening of this stand alone food court, survived the pandemic and I'm so glad to see it's still thriving. My go to sandwich is the Garden Goat (#1 on the menu). A MUST TRY for first timers. The bread is warm and crunchy, the cheese is always cheesing, and the caramelized onions and tomato add the perfect balance to this hearty sandwich. Today we also tried the Caprese (#9) and it was so good we got a second one to go. I always get a side of the pickle and a tomato soup! The owner and workers are genuinely so so nice and happy. There are seats right on the side so you can watch them make your food. It's a small place right by the main entrance. I usually go on a weekday to avoid the crowds, but on weekends they have live music. read more

Every time I stop by the Anaheim Packing House, I make my rounds through the place but always end up back here. You can't beat their grilled cheese toasted to absolute crispy perfection. The Garden Goat is my go-to, because it somehow makes an otherwise greasy grilled cheese feel somehow healthy. I'm especially impressed by how clean the workspace is, and how dedicated they seem to be to their craft. The service is also always friendly, too! I ordered the Pork of July which is described has having a harissa garlic aioli, Italy imported porchetta, and a balsamic onion jam. This was more of an elevated ham and cheese sandwich and there's nothing wrong with that. When I think of porchetta, I imagine that massive spiral roasted pork with crackly skin. The meat in this sandwich was basically a kind of cured meat or ham. This grilled cheese would have been next level if it was what I imagined. They sell a porchetta sandwich at The Kroft on the lower level, and it's closer to what I picture. Nevertheless, this was a solid sandwich with golden brown and perfectly toasted bread, melty cheese, savory meat, and a sweet onion jam. It had an extremely potent raw garlic flavor which I imagine comes from the aioli. If you're sensitive to garlic, this is not for you because it was overpowering and left my mouth numb with raw garlic for the rest of the day. Grilled cheese definitely could have used more depth as it became very one note after a few bites. Honestly, I don't find myself craving grilled cheese ever, but I would come here in the future if I did. I am interested in trying the K-Melt next. Service was fine but not friendly.
