I had to opportunity to ride on one of their mini-buses on a wine tour to Napa and was very pleased with the professionalism and how nice the experience was. Eight hours with a rowdy group of tipsy adults can be trying for the most professional of chauffeurs but everything was superb. We were picked up in downtown San Francisco and went to three vineyards in Napa and even stopped at a restaurant on our way back before being dropped off at our hotel. There was a cooler with ice on the bus we were allowed to put our drinks in, or course we brought alcohol! We were allowed to play the music we enjoyed and connect to the bus speaker system. From the first phone call my requests were handled professionally and they gave me options which is so much fun for planning a special occasion. My fiancé reserved a bmw with champagne and he proposed that night!! Another time we picked up our in-laws at the airport and it made them feel so special and my husband and I didn't have to lap around sfo so many times and fight traffic. We rented a shuttle for our corporate group in an Escalade and the driver Matthew was so kind and knew us by first name which was so personal. We called Black Tie 5 days before a Celebration of Life at our home. We were hoping they could accommodate our needs given the short notice. From the first call to the last shuttle drop off, Black Tie made this is a seamless process for us. The 13 passenger van was spotless inside and out. Our chauffeur, Roger, showed up right on time and when I met him he already knew exactly what we wanted him to do which was shuttle guests from the bottom of our street to our home at the top of a hill. For four hours Roger shuttled our guests and in between when there was some downtime he was so gracious in giving some of the kids a ride up and down the hill just for fun! We could not have asked for better for the transportation for our wedding. We had a full bus load of international guests who were nervous about driving out here, so a bus was essential, and Black Tie made everything easy. Despite picking two venues that weren't easy to get to, and having different numbers using the bus at each stage, Black Tie ensured everything went perfectly. Have consistently booked this company for airport transfers for years and years. Never again. Rude when I called, obnoxious actually, had the audacity to tell me "I should have booked earlier." Really?! Service has taken a nosedive here their staff should never address customers this way. I used black tie transportation for a fourth grade field trip to the San Jose Tech Museum. Being in charge of 50 students is a task in itself so having an organized transportation service is a necessity. Our driver was amazing. He was more than punctual and his personable demeanor kept the students at ease. The community bus is equipped with a stereo system and he accommodated student requests to turn on the radio during the long ride. Scheduling is a breeze but keep in mind that the company does not accept invoices. You must pay in cash/check/credit to reserve your date. I am recommending Black Tie Transportation for every field trip my school takes. DON'T DO IT!!! We were looking for a limo ride to and from a restaurant less than 20 miles away and their quote was $849. WHAT??? What made me realize they were crooks is that their website promoted a $640 Party Bus Package which we were willing to pay. But, when all the other hidden fees got added on the total came to over $849. Suzette was horrible and has absolutely no customer service skills. Her written email to me had so many errors and the chat session I had with her was even worse. A complete rip off! We ended up selecting Nationwide Limo Service. We hired a car for a day of scheduled tastings in the Wine Country. The car was comfortable and clean, and our driver, Brad really added value to the experience. He was very professional but friendly, and got us to our tastings on time. Before we even left the hotel to begin our day, the car was hit by another guest and rendered unusable. No problem! Black Tie provided a shuttle bus for my recent wedding at the Brazilian Room in Tilden Park. I was initially going to only book an SUV for my bride and I but it wound up not being substantially more expensive to book a 19-passenger shuttle bus to move the whole wedding party. Joslyn helped us with booking everything. I only booked it 2 weeks prior to the event but there were no issues. I had my (at the time) fiancee call in to pay with my card and they did not give her any trouble. Our driver, David, was there on-time (actually a little early) and was very good at communicating with me. He offered us chilled water bottles when we boarded, and after a stressful day and hours of photos, it was a welcome treat. The bus itself was very nice, it looked to be a year or less old. David was very flexible and gave me his cell phone number to summon him whenever we needed a ride. At the end of the night, he didn't seem to mind me and my rowdy friends heading back to our hotel. I've been using black tie for over a year now to get to work in mountain view. It's been a great experience, always on time, always reliable, and a comfortable ride. I need to give a shout out to James on route 49. He's the man. Super friendly and a great driver. He's been nice enough to drop us off wherever as we're the last ones on the bus. He always has a smile and makes sure his pass angers are comfortable. The wifi is usually pretty good. A year ago is was pretty bad but they fixed it. I used Black Tie on 4 different occassions this past weekend and I am glad I did. We had requested their 21 seat bus but were upgraded to their new 30 seater. Everyone on the ride said this was possibly the best bus they've ever been on. It even had complimentary wifi. Roger was our driver and he was great. Very professional. My hubby surprised me with a limo to pick us up for dinner to celebrate our 10 yr wedding anniversary in SF. Our driver, Chuck, came at exactly 5 pm (Love when people are punctual!). I was calling around to shop prices for a party bus for 2 consecutive days. The person that originally answered the phone was nice and cordial. He took my information and quoted me a price- seems to be in the mid high range for all of the transportation companies I called- and told me he would have the wedding coordinator call me back. The coordinator, Jeanette, calls me the following day. The only words I have to describe are rude and completely self centered. The service failure here is because she did not listen to what I wanted, where I had shopped, and continued to cut me off so she could talk more. I happened to get great pricing for comparable party buses, and was curious if they price match or for her to explain what the competitive advantage is to book with them. She became combative and said- "book with who you want, go look at the cars." Ummmm- excuse me, but if you are trying to sell me your company, start by listening and relating to the clients needs. Stop talking over me. And she handles weddings? 3 stars because when I did call they answered quickly and got me the information I was seeking professionally. read more

So what do you look for in a limousine service? Clean cars, on time pick up and good service? (complimentary booze optional) I've used Black Tie 3 times now and have been happy Happy HAPPY each time. Once was for a Big Night Out, and twice as an airport car service. They were on time, drivers were great (even for a 4am pick up-- Yeow!), and extremely helpful. Nice clean limo, and nice clean vans (for airport service for our large group). Their price is a bit higher than some others. But I got the impression when talking to the cheaper companies that the person was on their cell phone while grocery shopping or picking up kids at school. I didn't want to take a chance on a kitchen-table run company for any of my trips. (Not bashing the mom and pop places - I just felt more comfie after a 6 hour flight entrusting my pick up to a known entity that has an office in P-town) I will use Black Tie again and recommend them highly. read more

Two of my girlfriends and I took advantage of the Napa Shuttle which picks you up in Pleasanton and takes you to 3 wineries in Napa for tasting and lunch. It was great to not have to worry about having a designated driver, so everyone can drink up and enjoy the views to the next winery. We had a private tasting at each winery, and V. Sattui even provided a private sit down tasting and lunch so we didn't have to deal with the crowds. If your a fan of V. Sattui, you know that's a major bonus in itself. I hired Black Tie's 26 seater party bus for my birthday party this year... What an amazing experience! May is always a busy season with proms and weddings and other seasonal parties so I had a limited selection of vehicles on my chosen night. However, I talked to the reservation desk about my options and felt confident in the choice I made. They even gave me a discount because my options of vehicles and times were so limited. I had a general itineracy for an evening trip into SF for sightseeing and bar or club hopping. Our driver Jeff was great at getting us to all the places we wanted to go (and staying around for the many bathroom breaks people took). The only thing I wish is that there was a bathroom on the bus but jumping off at random street corners, when the bus stopped, to run into a hotel or restaurant was also part of the fun experience! We stopped to look at the Bay Bridge lights, picked up an extra person in SF (we started in Pleasanton) and drove around to different bars and clubs before going into Sausalito to get a view of the Golden Gate as well. Jeff was awesome and so was Black Tie Transportation. Thank you for a great night! When you compare the cost of fuel and reserve parking off site.... waiting for the shuttle and free for all on both ends, FORGET IT! Wish I could give them 2.5 stars Disappointing wait time, waited 20minutes outside the terminal after calling and texting updating them on our status (landed, in baggage terminal, ready to go) not to mention the waiting area we were directed to was right next to the designated smoking area. They should be realistic with with customer about the time it takes them to get from their 'waiting zone' to the airport, even when I called again I was told 2-3min, it took them another 7min. They were able to transport our guests and the wedding party from the Courtyard Marriott in Livermore to the Palm Event Center for the wedding ceremony, and then back to the hotel after the reception ended. All of our guests kept saying how great it was to have a shuttle take them back and forth without have to worry about drinking and driving (our wedding was open bar!). Despite being referred to another company by friends/colleagues, I decided to choose Black Tie for car service to transport me from the airport on a recent international trip simply based on their Yelp reviews and proximity to my home. A few weeks prior to my trip, I did have some trouble contacting Black Tie and was not able to get a hold of them. I ended up getting to the airport by other means, but knew I wanted to call Black Tie for my return flight after I got very sick on my departure flight. I wanted to have plans in place for a ride home and make it home safe and easy without inconveniencing anyone to come all the way to SFO late at night on a weeknight. I opted to call Black Tie while I was still overseas and a dispatcher quickly got me set up for a pick up and sent me an email confirmation the day before since I was overseas. I actually forgot to call Black Tie until the day before I was scheduled to fly out and they accommodated that with no problem at all. All of the details in my confirmation were correct so I crossed my fingers and hoped that someone would be there to get us when we landed. I was heavily medicated for my flight home and slept the majority of the way. When I woke up, there were only two hours left on my flight and the captain announced that we were making great time and would actually land an hour earlier than expected. Since I was in the air, I wasn't able to contact Black Tie to let them know I would be arriving earlier. I figured I would just have to wait when I landed for the car to arrive. We got through customs and got our luggage very quickly upon arrival, and to my surprise, our driver was already there waiting for us! I was so pleased to see him! He was very kind and professional. The ride was comfortable and he drove very safe the entire way home. After we arrived, I gave him a cash tip even though gratuity was included in the price because I wanted to give him a little extra. When I received the invoice, our cash tip was subtracted from the total - this was really honest of him and the company and I appreciated the honesty (but wish he was able to keep the little extra!). I am only deducting one star because they are quite expensive. They are pricier than others and they charge additional fees for things such as picking up from the international terminal etc. On top of their already high base price, these things add up. I would recommend Black Tie Transportation to anyone who wants professional, reliable and safe service. I was very pleased with the service and I couldn't have asked for a better driver. Let me just say that if you have ever gotten very sick on a flight, the last thing you want to do is worry about making arrangements or taking public transportation to get home. They also make it really convenient and easy for you because the gratuity is built in to the price and you provide your credit card info in advance so that you don't have to worry about anything when you arrive, you just have to get in the car and go. If you are on a flight alone and it's late at night or very early in the morning, this kind of service is appreciated for peace of mind. read more

Wow. Just called and the lady was incredibly rude and condescending as if I was wasting her time. The woman told me it would be over $300 to book an SUV from Pleasanton to Concord. She said it very rudely and as though she didn't want to do the work of perhaps finding drivers. What got to me was she said it in a "oh you don't want to book this it's too expensive" sort of way. I mean if she hadn't said it that way I wouldn't have even questioned it or looked up what I had previously paid. I would've just booked the SUVs and been done with it no problem. Matter fact when we usually book, we don't even ask for a price we just book and they send a confirmation. I looked at some previous bookings and it was much less than what she was trying to charge us. And that time, they took us to San Jose. She told me that they give discounts for airport transfers. But they also charged us much less when they took us to my husband's speaking engagements in San Francisco. I mean if she had at least said something like our prices have gone up because of this or that, I would have understood. It was just her condescending attitude. And you would think she would at least suggest perhaps a different vehicle, or something . Nope. It's perplexing that they're able to run a business like that. Especially with all sorts of companies going out of business you would think that they would be at least nice. Every other person I had ever talk to there was incredibly nice but this lady just had a bad attitude. And to be honest , if she didn't have such a terrible attitude and pretty much do everything she could to deter me from booking the SUVs, I would have just booked the freaking reservations. Excellent service for airport transportation. They always show up early, help with luggage, cars are clean, and drivers are polite. They even offer you cold water for the drive home. I have never used them for Limo service, tours, etc. They are pricier than many of their competitors, but you are getting premium service.
