1/5 Stars - Complete Nightmare I brought my truck in for a check engine light, though it was running perfectly fine at the time. After their diagnostic, I approved $700 in repairs for a purge valve and vapor canister. I was asked to pick it up at 3:00 PM, but when I arrived, the truck wasn't ready and clearly wasn't running right. I had to come back the next day, and it has been a disaster ever since. The truck is now undriveable. I nearly got into a serious accident trying to merge into traffic because the vehicle just wouldn't accelerate. I am currently having it towed to another shop to figure out what they did. To make matters worse, they tried to claim it might be the oil pump--an issue that wouldn't even cause these symptoms and was already replaced recently. Avoid this shop. I paid $700 to have a functional vehicle turned into a safety hazard. Review will be deleted with a refund. read more

Edwin went above and beyond to make sure to fix my vehicle after having to do an insurance claim and he was able to work with my insurance and warranties to then have me paying less out of pocket. He was responsive, quick, and followed up regularly with me until everything was resolved. read more

Friendly service with a smile is what you can expect from "Not your average automotive repair shop". Range Rovers HyBrid Camry's Audi A-8's "Oh My!" They can literally service ANYTHING on 4-wheels and even have the decency to offer a cold beverage to beat the heat whilst you wait to see what is really going on with that sweet ride you just drove in... Even if it where a jalopy that the "Beverly Hillbilly's" drove; my guess is they could fix-n-adjust it for optimal efficiency! - Give 'em a shot next time you need service and your in the Bay Area! read more

Yknow i had good faith in these guys for a while, but after the amounts of problems I've had with my car even after them fixing it, it's just not worth going to them anymore. Had to have spark plugs replaced, and not even a year later they go out again. And the cherry on top of it all, they just flat out told me "wow, you must love this car if you keep taking it in so much" Maybe I wouldn't have to take my car in so often if they would just fix it right the first time... read more

My second time there, and pleased both times. They are professional, honest, and work in a timely fashion. My first visit required that I come back because the alignment was not correct, but they worked it back in, and fix it right. This visit I had new tires put on and balanced, and an oil change - the did both at a very reasonable price and picked me up and dropped me off. I'd come back again - and that is the highest compliment I can give to an auto repair shop. read more

I am a master technician, so I normally perform repairs on my personal vehicles at my facility. In this case, I was visiting friends and was about 200 miles from home when the starter failed on my Mercedes. My friend provided me with Blackbear's information, I called and explained my issue and the service writer worked me into the schedule right away. The staff is friendly, keeps you updated throughout the repair and the facility is very clean. There is a waiting room, drinks and television for those who are waiting for an estimate or completion of repairs. My Jeep Wrangler first came into this shop December 1st 2023 and I had been in and out until January 17th. I had an engine light for a misfire/spark plug issue and also a oil leak so I paid $950+ for that to be fixed but as soon as I picked it up my vehicle started experiencing over heading issues when I drove so the men in the front advised me to replace the thermostat and if it didn't work then come back and they will diagnose it for me so I did just that and installed a Mopar thermostat and still no fix PLUS my vehicular was still leaking oil and engine light. I returned and had to pay $150 for a diagnostic because my engine light was still on, leaking oil and overheating. I was then told my fan wasn't working and my engine light was on because of it and the oil leak was from the part they originally fixed so they had to redo the job so I let them redo the part they already did and did informed them I'll do the fan work myself (they never mentioned anything about my engine light on the spark plugs ) . After I picked my vehicle up I open my hood to install the new fan I apparently needed and when I look at my fan it wasn't even connected. They had unplugged it for testing I assume and then never plugged it back in and then saw the engine light and ran with the first code that popped up. But still I gave them the benefit of the doubt and replaced the fan myself and STILL no fix. I informed them AGAIN that it is still over heating, it is still having an engine light for the spark plugs and leaking oil, they then Inform me to drop it off again so I did and they took it in to there shop on Wednesday 1/10/24 at 10a.m and then called me to come get it Monday 1/15/25 at 5:00pm. So I was without a vehicle for over 5 days and when I went to get it the said that it shouldn't do what it used to do and that they cleaned all the oils and it shouldn't leak oil and that if after all this it still over heats or leaks oil or anything ima have to possibly pay again to be looked at and at a different time. So I took it home and the next morning I drove it and sure enough IT IS STILL LEAKING OIL, ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON AND OVER HEATING WHEN I DRIVE... I then open my hood and find my tubes on top of the motor are not in there assigned brackets as if after putting it back together they just slapped it together not caring about it and then I check the oil leak under the vehicle to and I see my access rubber plugs that are on the transmission and engine are missing. I drive up to the shop to tell them face to face about the issues it's still having and they informed me that I have to replace the parts I already replaced with original parts because if not they are never gonna figure it out and after that if I still can't get it figured out they will take a look at it.. They then tell me they can't tell me why it's still leaking and never mention why my engine light is still on. They replaced the plugs under my engine/ transmission and said they removed the originals for inspection and then threw them away? The point is I wasted a month and a half going to this shop, paid over $1,000+ for service and diagnostic, went without a vehicle for over 5 days, didn't take the time and especially the attention to put my vehicle back together properly multiple times and STILL NO ANSWERS ON ANYTHING & STILL HAS ALL ORIGINAL ISSUES. read more

they deleted my first review about them treating me and my car like garbage and never even reached out to me to make amends. they are unprofessional and seem to have no idea what they are doing. i brought my car in for a starter replacement and filled them in on its pre-worked on status. they said nothing about a fee for piecing what i had done back together but slapped us with a $100 fee when we came in to pick it up. after coming back in and arguing with them they refunded the undisclosed $100 fee. i dont recommend this place if you care about your car. wouldnt even recommend this place to someone i hate. read more

I called ahead to schedule my first appointment going to BlackBear. The owner remembered I'd spoken with him earlier that day, and was very courteous. The waiting areas of the shop were very clean and spacious for those concerned about waiting inside with COVID. The price for a conventional oil change was extremely reasonable, and it was pleasant not to be bombarded with sales pitches for air filters and such. The owner even left a small handwritten note thanking me for my business in my car. All in all, I was extremely pleased with my visit and would definitely recommend BlackBear to anyone who is so over Jiffy Lube and other big brand auto shops. read more

I stopped in to get my oil changed and car inspected. The staff were very polite and the inside was comfortable for waiting. They brought me home when my car was going to be delayed and then dropped my car off at my house when it was complete. My first experience was definitely a good one! read more

Had a problem with our coolant and radiator. Talked to them and said it was the Thermostat and relay on the radiator. They told us one price after they fix the issue they told us a completely different price of several hundred $ more. We talked them back down to the price they had originally told us. But a month later we were having the same problem with the radiator and the car overheating. We took it down the street somewhere else and they told us that the thermostat that was just replaced was out again And that the problem was actually the water pump. So now we're having to replace the water pump and thermostat again. Water pump being the issue messed up the thermostat. Also this new place told us when they opened up the radiator coolant that it was mostly water no coolant hardly. So that means blackbear after they finish the Job with the radiator and told us that they had flushed it out and filled it back up, this means they probably didn't actually flush it out correctly and just add water back into it. They might have some of the best pricing around but you get what you pay for. read more

Modern, courteous, quick, reasonable price, clean shop, very professional, no up-sale, seemed honest...this is hands down the best customer service I have ever received from a mechanic! And my car is still running well 2 weeks later, so as far as I can tell they did a good job. I had my car towed here and left it on a Sunday night after my serpentine belt broke. I had never used them before. They contacted me the next morning and let me explain what happened. I drive an 18 year old car, so I asked them to do a full inspection and tell me everything that may need to be done in the next year, before they worked on it. They texted me a link to an app/website where I could view a description of each recommendation with pictures of each item on my car and also an electronic estimate where I could individually approve or decline each recommendation. Costs and totals were listed. It was very convenient and low pressure. I still ended up calling with more questions and concerns and they were very patient and explained. I was concerned about vibrations I had felt and asked for an alignment. The mechanic took the car out and drove it and looked and said I didn't need an alignment, but rotated and balanced tires instead, at my request. They could've easily just done the alignment and made the $. I was also concerned about some wiring that a AAA roadside service tech had told me might need to be replaced. They looked and said it was best to leave it as is (they could've easily sold me on more work), but the battery needed to be replaced. It was still under AAA warranty, so the tech emailed me a report that I could submit to AAA. He didn't seem annoyed that I didn't want to have it replaced there, even though he went through the trouble of testing it and checking wiring. They didn't charge me for the inspection or labor for checking the various concerns I had. And the final nice touch is that they left a thank you note on my dash. Overall, they seemed to be honest and tell me what truly did and did not need to be done immediately and what should be done in the next 50,000 miles or so. They had the car 2 days (b/c I asked them to check something else at the end of the first day), and repaired several things, but the cost seemed reasonable. My Dad even said it seemed fair...and he has dealt with a lot of car repairs. Overall, just a good experience. This is definitely my new go-to mechanic! read more
