Once upon a time, this Faerie Queen met Dear Friends for breakfast here. Cute place with a large menu of delicious options. A bit pricey for sides, but this is a sign of our times right now. The end.

Great place for breakfast! One of my LBC Top choice. We stopped here during the week and it isn't too busy. Service is prompt and the staff is friendly. Great flavors from all the dishes we ordered. The breakfast burritos are big and flavorful. The housemade salsa has great flavor and well balanced amount of heat. We will definitely be coming back here soon!

Blackbird Cafe is a great go-to for a classic breakfast. I stopped by and had some of the staple items, and everything was really solid. The menu has a lot of options, so there's definitely something for everyone, and I like that they also serve lunch if you're in the mood for something beyond breakfast. The hashbrowns were especially good crispy and well-seasoned and the turkey sausage patties were honestly perfect. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, which always makes a difference. Special shoutout to Lydia, who was great and made the experience even better. It's a casual diner with outdoor seating too. Parking is street parking only, but overall it was a really pleasant visit. I'd definitely come back when I'm in the area.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So I decided to stop in here. I heard about the different Benedict's they have to offer . And the world's best cup of coffee . Our server was very welcoming and fast. She let us know the specials and they all sounded great Inside they have very cool art pieces and paintings that are for sale too. I will be back Cheers

Great cozy little spot for breakfast The inside is like a classic little diner with mexican fusion and art on their walls There is no parking lot so find parking on the street The service was A+ she had great feedback, was honest and treated us like family. I ordered their el luchador benedict which was packed with flavor and was different since they used a bolillo bread at the bottom instead of the typical english muffin. Great combo of ingredients all served with hash browns. Also ordered the peanut buttah hunny pancakes which was moist and a very generous size came with 2 and their spicy mexican omellet with tots . Left here 100% satisfied i highly recommend if you're in LB and want something a little different

Very good good and good server. However I think charging us almost $7 on orange juice is a bit ridiculous. Pancake was almost $4 which wasn't bad. Burrito was tasty and salsa was good . Coffee was not so good! Sausage is amazing! Place was pretty empty.

The service is simply excellent! The staff are so attentive and friends, you can't help but to feel special. Their menu has tons of options and they all look great and are a very good value. Wonderful place and I cannot wait to return.

For a brunch spot, Blackbird is decent. I went on a Sunday and it wasn't slammed per se, but they were noticeably a little short staffed. Blackbird is a super cute, kitschy place, with an endless menu that may be a bit too expansive. I ordered a matcha latte and fruity pebbles French toast. My SO had regular French toast, regular coffee, and a plate with bacon and eggs. Portions here are quite large (to the point where sharing is likely ideal). Neither of us could finish our food due to the aforementioned, but the food was delicious. If you order the matcha latte, it's not matcha, it's not a latte. It's a drop of sweet matcha flavoring in a glass of milk - it was really awkward to me and I regret ordering it for the price. Service may be hit or miss. We had to ask for missing food, syrup, etc. It sucked, but it could be due to lack of people that day.

Came for breakfast with a couple of friends Saturday morning. For a table of 4, the wait was about 30 mins. Parking can be hard because it's in a residential area but luckily we found a spot not too far away. They have seating on the inside and outside which is pretty nice. Service was good and she was nice! #7 breakfast burrito: 2/5, I was expecting the hash browns to be crispy but it wasn't at all. The hashbrowns were soft which threw me off. I added avocado and they put a lot in the burrito. I feel like there was barely any bacon which was disappointing. Chicken fried chicken Benedict: 4/5, My boyfriend loved this! The egg was perfectly cooked. It was a fried chicken patty. The chicken and hashbrowns were super crispy.

BREAKFAST BURRITOS This place is a steal when it comes to breakfast burritos. $9.75 for most of them and they sure are filling. Also feature very good Benedict's. I sure enjoy the caballo dorado Benedict. Sopes with poached eggs and chorizo. Cute restaurant with local art displayed on walls. Only drawback is there is only one restroom and if it's occupied it's occupied. Parking on the street.

chicken fried chicken eggs benedict: 4/5. redeemable becuase the fried chicken was AMAZING, however my eggs were overcooked and more like medium boiled so they weren't runny and weren't even soft boiled which was disappointing. the tater tots were nice and crunchy i was happy, but the hash brown pics online didn't look very crispy or anything so even though i prefer the potatoes that way i didn't order that. #4 bacon eggs and hash brown breakfast burrito and #3 pork sausage and egg breakfast burrito: the breakfast burritos were massive and pretty good, but they just had hella beans. very large and could not finish it, maybe 20% left to take home. regular eggs benedict: 3.5/5 egg was also not runny and medium boiled, so nothing bad but nothing standout. service was chill, nothing standout, waters got refilled once. the restaurant was decently full 60% and nice outdoor seating for smaller parties.

    Poutine tots: Sooooo yummy

We had a reservation for six and the hostess greeted us and sat us right away. Our server, Nate, was fantastic. He knew the menu and answered all of our questions. He even explained how some of the drinks were made. Later we found out he was actually one of the bartenders helping out as a server for the night. Which made sense considering how well he knew how the drinks were made. He was attentive and checked on us often to make sure everything was going well. One thing that made him stand out was, he actually conversed with us rather than just asking if we needed anything and then leaving. The Old Fashioned was one of the smoothest and best I've probably ever had. My nephew ordered the Ube Painkiller after Nate described how it was made. I had a sip, and the ube flavor really came through without overpowering the drink and it was perfectly matched with the dark rum, which Nate said came from the Caribbean. The Brussels sprouts had a nice mix of tender and crispy pieces that gave additional texture. The calamari was tender and the pesto style sauce paired real good with it. The Thai curry sea bass was flavorful, flaky, and had the right amount of spice. The cioppino had a rich shellfish flavor in the broth and I appreciated that the tomato base didn't have such an acidic taste. We also shared the tomahawk, which was juicy, cooked perfectly, and had a sprinkle of coarse salt that really brought out the flavor. Overall, we had a great experience. The food was excellent, but Nate's service really made our night special, making us feel right at home.

Trying several items on the menu provided us a nice sampling of what they have to offer. We enjoyed everything we ordered. My favorite was probably the Brussel sprouts as they were cooked to perfection and not sweet like most restaurants serve them. A close 2nd was the chicken parmesan served over zucchini noodles. The final item ordered was a mushroom pasta with shrimp. The shrimp were fantastic with a light char and perfect flavoring. The pasta was good. It was a bit to spicy for me with the chili oil so I only had a small portion. The inside is simple yet inviting with an open layout. They seemed a bit short staffed, but every one was hustling and honestly we were well taken care of. Sad I won't have another opportunity to try more of the menu, but grateful to squeeze in this visit before they close in about a week.

It did look quite busy on the patio when we checked in with the hostess. We were informed that it would prob be about 20 minutes or so for a table and if we wanted to wait at the bar. Exactly what we did. Bar area had maybe 5/6 hi top chairs that look onto the bar. Gabriel and Francisco who were working was knocking the drinks out one by one. Sitting there and just watching them create magic for everyone, it was quite amusing. Seeing how it's made and presented with precise detail, it was an art. While waiting for the table we started off with the raspberry lychee martini and the spicy margaritas. Both were great. The right amount of kick with each sip. Gabriel was knocking them out one by one and man was he busy. Fransisco took are of us while we were eating which we ended up just having our dinner at the bar instead. The last time I remembered the chicken Parmesan which was excellent. So we started off with the grilled prawns as a starters. Five prawns in a skewers and grilled with a delicious sauce accompanied. It was tasty and quite delicious. Decent size and meaty for each bite. Entrees was a little mishap as our meal was mistakenly given to the party next to us which they enjoyed. Honesty mistake but we laughed it off. Kitchen was informed and a rushed was put on our order. We weren't in a rush so it was fine with us. They apologized and graciously offered us a dessert after dinner. Something simple but very graceful for the honest mistake. Entrees, the wild mushrooms pasta which was quite tasty and pretty decent in size. The cream sauce which wasn't too over powering the meal was great. Each bite was very tasty. Then there was the chicken Parmesan which why we were here and expecting. The last visit it was excellent with grilled broccolini, slices of tomatoes on top and mozzarella cheese and onto spaghetti pasta. It was great. Thinking it would be the same this time which it wasn't. This visit, it was just served with squash pasta and buffalo mozzarella on top. Honestly it wasn't what I expected, somewhat of a little disappointed. Chicken was good don't get me wrong. But the hot meat with sauce and then you have literally COLD squash pasta paired with it. It was a little underwhelming. Overall, we still had a nice experience. The place was pretty full and of course the lakers were on so it was fun seeing everyone cheering them on. Bar seating for a meal was great as we had fun conversations with both Gabriel and Francisco. Plus they were cranking them drinks out one by one. Excellent in what they do. The drinks were great, grilled prawns and wild mushrooms pastas were excellent. Chicken parm, this time was a miss. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and cocktails. Also the dessert, highly recommend the Cinnabon with vanilla ice cream. Wow, it went down very well. Hoping next time will outdo this.

The Smoked & Glazed Pork Chop came with a whole show, where staff would bring out the dish in a smoke-infused glass dome and open the dome when presented on the table so we can smell and see all the smoke. I do have to round the block a few times for parking but this place is worth the drive and terrible parking. I am also a person of habit so I will always get the same dish as a precaution. Ellie's is one of the few places where I like every item from their menu. I am lazy to look for other food pics from Ellie's so here are three pics from my most recent visit. My favorite that is not pictured is the gnocchi. I crave it so often, I try to replicate it until I return back to Ellie's For the price, this place is $$$. Especially because when you are having a rich pasta, you MUST get the wine to go with it. Everything from here does add up but it's worth every obstacle (centralizing theme within this review). Servers are amazing and beautiful people. They are always in a genuine great mood that makes the dining experience great. Though the inside of the restaurant is small, there is plenty of tables on its patio. The patio is on the sidewalk, which I normally hate because restaurants typically lack in service and ambience when seated outside. Not for Ellie's, service and ambience is even better outside. I find it too stuffy and crowded inside the restaurant.

We had reservations for 8:00 p.m. When we checked in, the hostess told us that the party at our table had until 8:30 p.m. to finish. This was never communicated to us beforehand which they said was noted they did, the hostesses were very nonchalant about the situation instead of offering a better solution. They eventually seated us, but it was all the way in the back of the restaurant where we had to ask for the candles and fire place to be lit Because of that, it took a while for our server to get to us, and our drinks took longer than expected to arrive. That said, our waitress was absolutely amazing, friendly, attentive, and the highlight of our visit. She provided excellent service despite the circumstances and definitely deserves five stars. As we were getting seated, the hostess asked if we had been informed that they were having issues with their roof and that their barbecue was out of service. We had not been told anything about this prior to arriving. As a result, the menu was extremely limited, with no steaks or burgers available. This was especially frustrating because those were the main reasons our group chose this restaurant. Had we been notified ahead of time, we would have appreciated the opportunity to decide whether we still wanted to dine there or make reservations elsewhere. To make matters even more disappointing, we were there celebrating my birthday. It seemed like the restaurant either forgot or there was a miscommunication, because the birthday dessert wasn't brought out until after we had already received the bill. It made the celebration feel like an afterthought, which was disappointing on what was supposed to be a special occasion. Overall, the service from our waitress was outstanding, but the lack of communication and poor handling of the situation by the host staff really impacted our experience. The fancy pizza was average (3 stars), chicken piccata was great (5 stars), while the appetizers were good (4 stars) and the wines by the glass were very overpriced coming from someone in the wine business. Unfortunately, the disappointing start, limited menu, and overlooked birthday celebration made this visit fall far short of our expectations.
