Staying on this side of the water from The Garden and wanting to find some food and drinks before a show this spot popped up as a great looking option. It avoided the large crowds from the other side. We were promptly sat at a couple tables near the bar. The overall vibe is what you'd expect of a gastropub with a long bar and plenty of other seating too. Staff were friendly and our waiter did a great job overall. Drink wise they have a full bar, beers on draft, and plenty of speciality cocktails too. Our party of five sampled a good amount of these cocktails including the Heavens to Lemons, Smoke n Mirrors, Hot Damn Margarita, and more. All of them were well made with plenty of flavor. Secondly, onto food our party tried a variety of food as well. One person got Skillet Nachos, another Street Corn Quesadilla with Carne Asada, another Salt & Pepper Calamari. While my wife and I got their Short Rib Melt with kettle chips. My wife substituted the horseradish mayo to normal mayo and they had no issues doing this change for her. The short rib was so tender, cooked to perfection. They did a great job with all the food and me and my wife would gladly return for the sandwich again! Awful experience for my birthday gathering at Blackmoor today! I made a reservation for 15 people and when we all arrived, we were informed very rudely by the host that we would need to wait 25-35 minutes to be seated. When I explained that I had made a reservation ahead of time, his response was "and we're very busy today, there's nothing we can do about your reservation". I asked a few follow up questions and he continued to be extremely rude and condescending explaining that we should be more understanding of the circumstances given it's a weekend in Boston. His attitude alone should 100% disqualify him from being a point person at a restaurant, he's certainly not the first person I'd want to interact with. read more

Nice festive ambience here when I visited for the first time as part of a small private event last week. Clearly seems to be a neighborhood place that is on many individual's regular destination lists. I did find the brunch food offered to be (too) heavy on the portions, seasonings and ingredients. Would welcome another opportunity to try a different segment of their menu such as a fish and chips or more standardized bar experience. We wouldn't normally try a restaurant with a 3.7 star rating, but Blackmoor was right next to our hotel and we were tired. Last time we make that mistake. Not much positive to say. The service was excruciatingly slow, waiters literally went table to table trying to find the patron who ordered the food that they were carrying, it took over an hour from ordering to get our food and as a result items (like a Mac and cheese as well as chicken tenders) were stone cold when they arrived. The one item we wanted to be cooked well was a steak that bled red. The waitress was brand new and we didn't blame her but we did blame the total absence of managerial supervision. When we asked to see the manager after 2 painful hours, it was the chef. He apologized but made no attempt to rectify the situation with a discount on our bill. Offered a discount on a future visit, but as tourists he knew that it was a hollow gesture. He had the gall to blame his restaurant's pathetic performance on the fact that he was "slammed" by 200 in the back...which was a beer hall of some type that he runs everyday and is by no means an extraordinary event. If faced with the same choice, we would rather pass on eating. It was that bad. read more

If I could give zero stars I would! First off we made a reservation a few weeks in advance for my daughter's birthday for Saturday night, there were only two of us. We arrived 5 minutes early and went to the hostess and she saw our reservation, but she said she would have to get her manager. After a few minutes a gentleman came to the hostess stand and said he doesn't know how we had a confirmed reservation but he couldn't seat us because he has 5 parties going on and the only open space was at the bar. We saw some open tables, but he said that the parties were taking those (they were never used) and he couldn't seat us there. We showed him the confirmed reservation and the multiple text messages we were sent telling us that we had a reservation, but he just shrugged his shoulders and said he had too many parties and he couldn't seat us so we could be seated at the bar. The table was in between loud parties, everyone watching the basketball and baseball games and it was sooo loud we couldn't even hear the waiters. Our waiter was awful, he looked like he didn't want to be there and was very soft-spoken so we couldn't even hear him in all the loud noise. Lastly, the food was awful! We both had fish and chips because it was recommended by several people. The fish was inedible because it was burned and very dry, the fries were decent but soggy and my side of baked beans was so thick and chewy because they were overcooked and dry. We had to ask for refills of our water and our waiter never asked if we wanted another drink, guess he didn't care. Overall, it was terrible service, terrible food and we will not waste our vacation to go back again when there are many other places we can try over the next few weeks we are in town. read more

We went here for Saturday brunch! Parking was tight so if you go plan ahead, especially in the snow! We were very satisfied with our meals and what we paid for them, we got the Diner Breakfast and for the price we were very impressed with the portion sizes. The service was also great, we sat at the bar and the bartenders were friendly and conversational. It was very nice to see some regulars also in there, sometimes it just makes everything a little bit more real when someone who is there all the time steps in. Server seemed to be flustered and the dining room was about 20% full. We had trouble getting orders taken, drinks delivered, food delivered. Went up and got the check. Food was fine but not great. Clam chowder was heavy and too thick, could taste the flour in the soup. Quesadilla and nachos were good. This is one of the worst resturant experiences I have ever had! We were seated that waited forever to place our order. Then waited even longer to get our food (a burger, wings, and a pretzel -- nothign complicated.) When the food came, it was obvious they'd put them under heat lamps and just forgotten about them. The pretzel arrived dried out, and the conidments crusted over from the heat lamp, and the wings, in addition to not haveing any flavor has been overcooked AND sat under a heat lamp. They were dry and flavorless. Then another very long wait for anyone to come check on us, and then another huge wait for the check to be brought. The bar was slammed, but the dining room was empty. There's no excuse for such bad service and bland food made worse by sitting and drying out under the heat lamp. Left a 10% tip and a note expalning why. Just. Terrible. read more

I have been to Blackmore a lot over the years and always have a great time when I stop in for a drink after work or a quick dinner at the bar. The vibe at the bar is great, they have a good beer selection and I love the apps. I will continue to come back for post-work drinks! Unfortunately, the lunch experience is consistently bad. They are typically slow at lunch, which is fine but the place is uncomfortably quiet and boring in the dining room. The service is also typically slow, and I haven't enjoyed any of the lunch options on the menu. Everything I try has been dry or bland. read more

We only wanted a few appetizers so we started with the New England Clam Chowder, the spinach and artichoke dip and an order of chicken dumplings. The clam chowder was excellent. It was thick and hearty, it tasted so good. The dip was served with nacho chips and pita bread. It tasted very good. Last but not least were the chicken dumplings, they were good but not great. Then our food took roughly 1-1.5 hours to come out and yes we were a large group of 16 people but we arrived at opening time. I will not go into everything but I will give you 3 main takeaways. 1- none of us got fruit that was included with our order 2- I ordered avocado toast and my order came out with no avocado on it at all. They tried to fix it by placing cut up avocado on top but that's not avocado toast. The waiter said that's how we do it here and I politely said ma'am avocado toast is smashed avocado. So I completely changed my order 3-food was cold, dry and greasy. read more

Whenever my wife and I travel, we always find a spot that is our "home base", our "old faithful" spot to where we know we can depend on for that "night cap" of "if all else fails". During our trip to Boston (beginning of November 2020), it was less than a 3 minute walk from the hotel (Residence Inn in Charlestown) and fit perfectly for what we needed. First, we were very impressed with how Covid clean they were and how spread out it felt. It had a very comfortable feeling that made it even more secure. It wasn't busy at all and we had some excellent bartenders the entire time. The food was perfect for each occasion we. We had snacks dinner, appetizers, beverages...no matter what we had, it was solid. They also have a great variety that could fit many taste profiles from smoked wings, to the "chowda", a fantastic burger, brunch, real sides other than fries including collards.... just a good spread and worked well for how many times we came here. It truly became our "go to" for the 4 days we were there. The mac and cheese was a bit suspect and the wife loves mac and cheese so I would caution that but worth tasting for yourself. I do wish they had more of the tv's on to give it that "sports bar feel" as they only fired off a few tv's but I bet this is a cool place with a great layout for sports events and when covid is lifted. To us, and if we are back in this area, we will come back to "home" just because of how solid it was for an overall day to day feeling that made us feel welcomed. This was a fantastic and pretty large spot in Charleston. Perfect for grabbing dinner before a concert at TD garden without all the crowds. I hosted a happy hour reception here recently with my work colleagues and it went really well. We had a nice area to the left of the bar. The bartenders and staff were great. Very quick with drinks. We did a bunch of appetizer foods and it was all very tasty. Pretzel bites - these came with a truffle cheese sauce. So good! Chicken tenders - nice size pieces, not too big, crunchy crust, soft inside Margherita pizza - their pizzas are thick like a Detroit style. Very tasty. Lots of cheese on top. BBQ chicken pizza Spinach artichoke dip - yummy, had nice chunks in it, good with their chips Crudite - always good to get some veggies in. It had a nice dipping sauce. We had to flag another server to take our order. We would ask our server specific menu item questions and she would tell us that she would get back to us with an answer and would again, run off for another 15 minutes before seeing her again. I booked this location for a reception after an event on the USS Constitution, and it didn't disappoint. The food was delicious and plentiful, the ambiance was perfect and everyone had a fantastic time. And the freshly baked cookies are epic! Stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday in July. Pretty quiet. Hostess was our waitress and was friendly. Menu is much more limited than what shows up on Yelp. Waitress said due to COVID they scaled back the menu and clearly have not returned to normal. Very limited vegetarian options which was challenging. 3 of 4 of us got the spinach salad which was "fine". I ordered a cup of chowder and a veggie burger. Chowder was good but not great. A little thin for my taste. The veggie burger was not good. Edible but I'd pass in the future. We could overhear the waitress talking to the cooking staff about us so that was not great either.
