Stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday in July. Pretty quiet. Hostess was our waitress and was friendly. Menu is much more limited than what shows up on Yelp. Waitress said due to COVID they scaled back the menu and clearly have not returned to normal. Very limited vegetarian options which was challenging. 3 of 4 of us got the spinach salad which was "fine". I ordered a cup of chowder and a veggie burger. Chowder was good but not great. A little thin for my taste. The veggie burger was not good. Edible but I'd pass in the future. We could overhear the waitress talking to the cooking staff about us so that was not great either. We enjoyed a hearty dinner here! My husband had the Shepherd's Pie and I had the Short Rib Poutine. Both were excellent and perfect for a chilly Boston night. The Shepherd's Pie was delicious, although I only had one bite. It was just the right size, seasoned perfectly, wasn't overpowered by potatoes, browned nicely, and had the perfect balance of meat and potatoes. The dish was extremely hot when served. Short Rib Poutine. What a combo. First of all, ANYTHING with short ribs is delicious! Combine that with poutine and I'm all in. It was awesome. When the plate was first brought to the table, I almost asked if they'd forgotten to put gravy on it. Turned out it was hidden by all the ingredients and I was glad by the end of the poutine that it hadn't been soaked in too much gravy. This is a ridiculously rich, comforting dish of food that could've been overwhelming. If I'd shared it as an appetizer and then had dinner, I doubt I could've finished dinner. The appetizer portion was a perfect dinner portion, even though I didn't quite finish it. Left fries behind as they had to be sacrificed for the enjoyment of the short ribs, which were amazing. Came for brunch. Super cute place. It wasn't busy so we were seated right away. I had the huevos rancheros ($15) and my friend had the chicken quesadilla ($12) . Both were very good. Mine came with a nice portion of steak + 3 eggs and refried beans! My friend had lime crema with her quesadilla which was delicious. It's a little pricey for the area. It took a while to make it to Charlestown and I don't typically travel there for noms. I will come back and see what it's like at night + maybe try the Bangkok wings. read more

Food ok. Drinks ok. Customers are MONSTERS. I went early Saturday by myself and bar was full except for one empty chair. The inconsiderate staff told me that I needed to squeeze in. They were "too busy" to help. First place a 50 year old man told me "I'm not moving a Fxcking inch". What a charmer. Next spot 2 gals moved over but a 43 year old man WITH HIS WIFE called me a piece of shxt and to get out. Management did NOTHING. I'd been the night before spent about $80 Inc a great tip. I held my ground and said you Bostonians hate visitors, huh? I'm from Chicago where we know tourists keep us going. Ditto here but my of my what horrible people. I've traveled to 40 countries and NEVER been spoken like this. The place is a two minute walk from a big hotel. They get tons of tourists. I actually bought a double shot of Jameson for the second idiot. Anonymously. He left and his wife was still there. He was gone a long time. She was lovely. I'm a 50 white female. Do NOT go there is you are any minority. I can't even imagine the abuse you might get. Shame on them. Shame on Boston. I stayed because I wasn't going to let a bunch of misogynistic men run me off. Atmosphere: I am so glad that my friends and I tried this place out after moving to Charlestown! Our server, Jennifer was the sweetest and was so apologetic since they had been understaffed and fairly busy. Pre-covid this restaurant seems like it had been a fantastic place for a date or drinks with friends at the bar. The bathrooms were spacious and clean. The bartenders were attentive and friendly. Food: I wish I had taken picture of the nacho appetizer because it was amazing! The crisp chips were covered with a great seasoning and smothered with warm cheese, onions, scallions and jalapeños. We shared amount 5 and almost got another order. I ordered the salmon sandwich with sweet potato fries. The salmon was moist and had a great flavor. The fries were fresh and crisp. I'd order it again! My friends ordered the chicken sandwich and would order again but i wouldn't recommend the side of cole slaw and opt for fries or other options. The pick 2 order for pork and Mac and cheese was ok and the corn bread was flavorless. I wouldn't recommend. Overall I'd definitely recommend coming for drinks, appetizers and the sandwiches so far. The food was very average and the service was poor. The restaurant was nearly empty when we sat down, so that was not the issue. Our appetizers came out only a minute before our entrees - or I should say, half of our table's entrees. Our server came over to ask how everything was, as two people clearly had no food in front of them, but did not even notice. It was only several minutes later when we asked where the other entrees were, that she realized we never received them (and it seems, she never put them in). One entree came about 5 minutes later, and the last entree came about 10 minutes later when the rest of the table was finished eating. And yes, they still charged us for those meals. Ultimately, the food we received was not even worth the wait. I will not be returning to this restaurant. read more

Such amazing service from Kay today on the outdoor patio. Child seat, Mac and cheese for kids, and mimosas and snacks for adults. Everything was delicious and the service (and speed!) were just phenomenal today. I selected the Blackmoor for a large group dinner in November and was blown away by the exceptional service, quality of food and atmosphere. I would rate the Blackmoor as the best restaurant in the entire Boston, Charlestown area. I came back today with my daughters for brunch so they could experience the Blackmoor as well and were even more impressed than before. Our server, Caroline, was graciously, friendly and attentive. She made the meal all the better for her presence. The portions are generous, the quality is exceptional! We'll be back! read more

I would imagine this place won't last. The food is horrible, I couldn't believe I got a salad w/ yellow & wilted greens (seriously), maybe 3 small tomatoes on it. Simply pathetic. After just arriving at our hotel and very hungry after a long day of traveling, Blackmoor was recommended by the hotel staff so we made the short 5 minute walk to the restaurant to check it out. We were greeted and seated immediately as we were they before the dinner rush and were given a run down of the menu. I started off ordering the New England clam chowder (local clams, potatoes, celery, carrots, bacon, and cream) and Flemish Red Ale. The chowder was really good with large chunks of clams, potatoes and a very cream sauce that really hit the spot on a cold day. The Flemish red ale was also really good so much so that I ordered a second one. Red Ale's are not always readily available in my home town so this was a nice surprise. For my main course, I decided to go with the Seafood Stew (fennel, onion, tomato, local clams, shrimp, fresh PEI mussels, Spanish chorizo) served with a Baguette. The addition of Spanish chorizo to a seafood dish really peaked my interest so I decided to give it a try. When it came out, it looked and smelled delicious. All the ingredients were fresh and the zesty, lemony broth brought it all together. It was a no brainer to use the baguettes to soak up all the broth and not waste any of it and I didn't. All that was left were empty clam/mussel shells. Overall, this is a great neighborhood type restaurant/pub to come relax and have good drinks/food with friends and I look forward to coming back. read more

Overall, the food was fair and service was a bit slow. We came for dinner on a weeknight and the restaurant wasn't too busy but the bar was fairly full. We waited for a while before a server came to greet and seat us. It also took a bit for our server to come over with water and menus. I chose a regular burger with fries-nothing to write home about. We shared the spinach and artichoke rangoons. Tasty filling, a tad over cooked, delish aioli for dipping. My husband got the Guinness stew which he enjoyed and had leftovers. Some good things up front. Overall the food was solid. The burgers were very good with quality ingredients. However the patty, cheese and bun ratio was off. Full disclosure I did get the tavern burger which included an egg. But the aged cheddar was scant. The fries were excellent. One of our party had the schnitzel and it was good. The spaetzle was good but the plate was like 85% cabbage. Lastly my wife ordered the ahi tuna sandwich and they drowned it in sauce because it was not high quality tuna. Overall this place is great for bar food. The staff was friendly but the service was disappointing. Slow and disengaged. I'll be it is a fun place to drink and have some bar food. A friend and I decided on Blackmoor when looking for a place to grab dinner and catch up in Charlestown. When we walked in there was a woman wiping down the glass door. No big deal in itself; however, as we tried to walk in she extremely rudely asked us to try a different door (that we had no idea existed). A very nice hostess (manager??) salvaged my opinion of the service when she scooped us at door and offered not one, but three (!!!) booth options. Upon being seated our waitress informed us that it was $3 taco night. I took advantage of discounted prices and ordered a Blueberry Margarita. The drink came to $8 and although I am not sure if was entirely a deal, it was very tasty and I would order again. I was unfortunately less impressed with my food. I ordered the Pit Boss Brick Oven Flatbread. It was all pickled cabbage and jalapeños and no barbecue sauce or pulled pork. The flatbread was also more of a traditional crust as opposed to the flatbread advertised. My dining companion ordered a burger and reviewed it as good, but nothing special. At first visit this place was not quite a disappointment, but nothing to rave about. Great place to get drinks and catch up, but to-be-determined if worth more than an app. I will be back to try some of the other food specials - they do then nightly. read more

On a visit to Boston, saw this place and decided to give it a try. The place is trying very hard to be trendy, has the usual chalk board menus, big bar selection and some quasi industrial architecture. The bar service and drinks were good. The food was not. Foolishly my buddy and I both decided to try the Barbecue. I ordered the combo plate with brisket, pulled pork and bacon and ribs. It was all very dry, tough and not very good at all. Buddy ordered the wings and ribs. Same issue, dry tough chewy. I tried one of his wings and left it after one bite. Probably our fault for thinking Barbecue whilst in Boston. Can't speak to other menu items, but since we were the only customers there on a sunny Sunday afternoon, I'd guess not great. read more

Okay the food is actually really bad here, flavorless and uninspiring. The tenders were sprinkled with pepper and served on a soggy slice of white bread. We also ordered the Florentine Benny. First the hollandaise sauce again had no flavor, not sure how that's possible when hollandaise is literally BUTTER!! Second, there was a hair mixed into the dish, you can see the hair's shadow at the far right corner. Third, while they have an expansive menu, most of it is not served outside (including many of the cocktails or even iced coffee). Probably won't return here, even for the nice view. read more

Blackmoor Bar and Kitchen is a large restaurant located right off the freedom trail near the USS Constitution. It is connected to the Residence Inn nearby so was a logical choice after a long day of sightseeing. Temperature inside was uncomfortable - AC may have been broken that day. We decided to stay and try our luck with the food. Server was pretty overwhelmed and spent the majority of our visit setting up and serving a large group. We ordered the fried cauliflower to start and it didn't arrive until our entrees came out. The waitress seemed put off that we didn't want them with our main dishes. I ordered the all American burger. It was decent but was sitting in the back for a while before being served. As a result it was dried out (even the pickles/tomatoes were hot from the heat lamp). My wife had a salad and it didn't look very fresh. The highlight of the meal was a kids pizza. Between the bad temp, long wait for service and mediocre food this place is a pass for me. read more

Went in for some drinks and appetizers. I split Linda's nachos with my fiancé, my friends split the salmon BLT. I loved the nachos and my friends like the BLT. What we were most impressed with, though, was our server, Patrick. He was very friendly and quick with topping off our drinks. I loved the atmosphere and it was is a pretty great location; next to the USS Constitution. I'm not a fries girl but order sweet potato fries whenever I see them on the menu. Some of the best I've had! The steak tips and lettuce wraps were nothing special. Steak was well done but a little too well. They were smothered in too much sauce that didn't compliment the tips. The lettuce wraps weren't what I expected at all. Not traditional wraps at all. Shrimp was grilled and tasty but on a half strip of Romaine with canned mini corns and canned palm of hearts. No peanut sauce. Wouldn't come back for the food. read more

The food was very good. I had the Angry Pizza, great mix of traditional pie and heat. My wife had brisket Mac-n-cheese, which was also delicious. My son at 11 years old, had the fish & chips. It was a massive piece of fish and huge amount of fries. I dipped into both his fish & fries and wished I had ordered that myself. Went here for brunch this Saturday morning. Walked in around 11:30, no crowd at all. Only a few tables were taken. It did get progressively busier as we were there. Took about a minute did someone to show us to our table, we could pick anywhere to eat. They were extremely understaffed, only one waitress doing the tables and the bartender for the bar side. Our party of 4 ordered the nachos, Florentine Benedict, chicken and waffles, and a cheeseburger. The food was all delicious, the only negative was a ow service, but that wasn't our waitress' fault, since she was the only one of two working. We visited around 9PM on a somewhat quite Wednesday after a bit of a flightmare that arrived (and late luggage) by some 4 hours. We were pleasantly greeted and quickly seated. Although were kinda hungry after a day of crap airplane food, it was running late so we didn't want to stuff ourselves. Just had to order a bowl of clam "chowda" and the app calamari and an IPA. The soup was pretty good even tho they "cheated" by adding bacon (I do that too). I was skeptical due to the other reviews, but I think the best benedict I've ever had was here. Order the Blue Ribbon benedict and you won't be disappointed. I came here around 10 AM on a Saturday after attending a self defense class in Charlestown and the restaurant was totally empty. Service was a little slow but the food was so good I can't make myself care. I will be coming back soon for the pulled pork/cornbread/hollandaise deliciousness. read more

For the past several years I have been stopping into the Blackmoor for pregame food and beverage before attending the Bruins game. The food is good but not great, the Beer selection is great. Usually if the staff is aware that you are attending an event at the garden they have been good about getting you through quickly.... However on Mothers day May 8th we had an 11 AM brunch reservation that would give us plenty of time to attend a 12:30 Bruins game. The service was unbelievably slow, though courteous! My wife and son ordered eggs benedict and the eggs were cooked solid. By the time we got them and had anyone check on us we would have missed the beginning of the game if we allowed them to fix this. After an hour of being in the restaurant we finally got our check, however no one came back to get payment. I emptied the cash in my wallet to pay the bill and rushed to the garden just in time to see the teams take the ice. This was disappointing because there is so much ceremony before a playoff game. We missed the passing of the banner and they were out of playoff towels. I have been coming in to the Blackmoor for several years and this has not been typical. I hope someone from management sees this review and works out these kinks. read more
