I was extremely disappointed with my experience. What should have been a straightforward tire change ended up taking almost six hours. There was very little communication about the delay, and I was left waiting far longer than anyone would reasonably expect for such a basic service. Very nice people BUT... I called in advance (more than 2 weeks) to verify that they could do an alignment on a Mercedes. Said they could. Verified again on day of appt that they'd have all they needed to do an alignment for my Mercedes E350 Blue Tec. Was driving out of state for the long weekend the next day. Again, said they could. After waiting for more than an hour while they worked on my car, a very nice man came out and told me I'd have to go to the dealership as they were unable to do the necessary work. No charge but a completely wasted day that could have been scheduled and spent at the dealership getting the work done. Not happy. Gave the 1 star for nice people. read more

After making an appointment two days in advance thinking that would enable me to receive the services I needed, I was disappointed that it took 4+ hours just to inspect the car and give me a quote. As it was later in the day, no parts were going to be ordered and no work was going to be done. In essence, they wasted my day because it was obvious that walk-in business has the priority and someone trying to cooperate and make an appointment receives zero consideration. Fortunately, I retrieved my car and found a much better repair facility who respects their customers. Black's Tire in Southern Pines does not appear to be well organized or well managed. My limited time in the waiting room confirmed others were not pleased and the whole operation appears to be disjointed and confused. I was lucky to not get involved with them other than wasting a day...it could have been worse... I could have wasted a lot of $$$. Probably a good shop if you have a flat tire, but I would not return here otherwise. Recommendation...look elsewhere for quality service. The next week he had a state inspection at another business and his tire pressure was low. The next day the low tire pressure light came on. Let me start that my spouse and I are visiting our son and his family from Texas. I'll spare you the long details .My son did not have the locks for the after market wheels since Truck was pre-owned. Blacks did not have the correct spline socket. (They did try with the sockets they had and even bought a set to see if it would work on these after maker wheels, with no success) My son and I went all over town to look for right socket. As soon as we got the right socket, went back to Black's Tire and they were able to use the socket that we bought and therefore able to install new tires since the truck tires were severely warn... These guys can't do anything right, don't go here, for your own safety. I had a nail in my front right tire, and my car is front wheel drive. I asked that they install a new tire on the front right, and then rotate that wheel to the back right so I had two of the same tire on the front. Instead, they JUST replaced my back right tire, and left the tire with the nail in it on my car. I then drove to Asheville and back, which is about 8 hours on the highway. So, I drove 8 hours at highway speed with a nail in my tire because Black's tire didn't rotate my tires like they said they did. They also threw out my good tire. I brought it back on Monday, when I got back into town. The tire was still leaking air, and I even found the nail in it. I went back in and both the employee and manager that I spoke to tried to deny their mistake. Thankfully, I had tried to get my car inspected at a nearby dealership and they failed it due to the nail in the front right tire, so I had record of it. They did eventually replace the tire at no cost, but it was like pulling teeth to get them to do so. Then, the next day, I take a look at my hubcap and noticed that it's not even put on correctly. It's only halfway on and looks like it's about to come off. They didn't even line up the cutout for the valve stem. As I left, an older mechanic in the bay was yelling at a younger employee for nearly crushing him with the lift. It seems like they hire young, inexperienced employees and are surprised when the results are bad. They're not capable of doing anything correctly and I certainly wouldn't trust them to work on your vehicle. read more

I had 2 services done on my Toyota Camry by BTS. One was a water pump replacement and flush the 2nd was an O2 sensor replacement. The service dates were 3/31/26 (water pump) and 4/15/26 (O2 sensor). After the work was completed the service engine light remained on. I was told AFTER returning to BTS (southern pines ) that i had a code that had to be cleared by the dealership. If I had been told that was a possibility before the work was done I would've just had Toyota do the job. Before taking it to Toyota I disconnected the battery to see if that would clear the code. At that time I noticed my coolant is COMPLETELY EMPTY. I was charged for a gallon of antifreeze by BTS on 3/31. I did not have a coolant leak prior to my services at BTS. After filling the coolant today I will check to see if I have one after the work was done. I suspect they never refilled the coolant after the water pump was replaced and flush was done. I was treated like an idiot when I asked BTS why my service engine light was remaining on after all the work that I was told that was causing the light to be on was completed. Over $1000 spent at this location. Terrible service. read more

With so many other options, I would go elsewhere. Poor service and attention to detail. I needed new tires while visiting the area and went to Blacks since they are walk-in based. The front desk receptionist was anti-social and acted like it was a real labor to speak to people. I was very kind to her nonetheless but it made no difference. I struggle to understand why places hire people for front-facing customer service jobs that seemingly hate dealing with people. The tires were mounted fine but the techs made no effort to clean the mounting surfaces before placing adhesive balancing weights. As a result, two of the four wheels threw their weights within 5 minutes. Now my brand new tires are unbalanced. Total waste of time and money... and it wasn't cheap. read more

This was my 3rd time trying out this shop as I just moved to the area and was looking for a new mechanic shop for regular maintenance, repairs, etc. The first time there was an issue with my air conditioning. I was told it would be over a 1,000 fix with parts, so I decided to think about it but when I searched the price of parts I found that a family member and I were able to fix the problem for $150. The second time I took it in for a tire leaking air. Was told they couldn't find the problem and was sent home. Over the following weeks the tire was still leaking air. I ended up deciding to take it for a second look at my old mechanic which was over an hour away, on the way there the tire started leaking more quickly so decided to try Black's one more time. I turned around and was able to get in the same day, which I did appreciate. After I let them know I was back because my tire was still leaking, I had actually found a screw in my tire this time and let them know I saw one. They took the car back and came back saying they found botha nail and screw. Unfortunately the placement of the nail, it could not be repaired but had to be replaced. They replaced the tire (the guy helping me was very helpful in making sure they had a tire in-stock) I left the shop and began getting warning signals "AWD wrong size" and "AWD High Temp. Stop Vehicle". So I returned to the shop and physically checked the tire myself. I guess I should have checked it before I left the shop. However, when looking for a regular shop to use, one thing I look for is to be able to trust their work and that they would do the repair correctly without me having to double check the work. For me personally because I'm not a mechanic, it is important to trust the people your placing the safety of yourself and your family members when you get behind the wheel. When I looked at the new tire I saw that it was the wrong size so I let them know and they said they would check it out. A little while later they guy came out and said they found the problem and it was a sensor issue but nothing about it being the wrong tire size. They began the work and when they finally finished the work he told me it was the wrong size tire and they had put on a new one in the correct size. The guy helping me was kind, professional, apologized for the inconvenience and try to make it right (by giving me $25 off). I do have to say the front desk guys have always been professional having great customer service however I just don't feel confident in this shop, therefore, I will not be returning, not because and their customer service and willingness to make things right after a mistake but for the inconvenience I have experienced all 3 times. read more

Bought very expensive flat tire insurance. Found out it was extra when I went in with a flat soon after buying a complete set of tires. Every other place I've bought tires, and I've been buying tires for fifty years, that's included with a set of four tires. Had another flat yesterday. Salesman told me I had a "nail in your sidewall." When I looked, there was a screw in the tread about an inch and a half from the edge of the sidewall. I just went to another tire store and paid $20 to have it fixed. Of course, blacks did offer to sell me a$240 tire. They are not the only ones doing this. Alright where to start! The other night coming back from a concert I hit the curb and not only got a flat. I bent my rim on my passenger side and rear passenger wheels. The next morning I was contemplating where to get this fixed and if I should even stop at the Honda dealership since I have Honda. Just had a repair done to my new car at BTS in Southern Pines. They left a huge section of scrapes on my front bumper. It looks like they hit a curb or something while moving it or working on it. They of course didn't tell me about it, I only discovered it when I got home. I have had them do work on my old car in the past and have suspected they have left some new dings and scratches on it but because it was an old car I didn't worry about it too much. They have good customer service for the most part but do not take very good care of the cars they are working on. If you take good car of your car and don't want careless scrapes and dents in it, you might be wise to find another mechanic who is more respectful of their customers cars. read more
