This is one of my favorites in the East Bay & has been for many years. They had a few bad years a few years back & I stayed away, but recently returned & was very pleasantly surprised. Back to the old days of excellent food & service. We had been on a run of bad dining so this Saturday night for dinner was a very welcomed experience. If you are open to a high top table, you can be seated quickly without a reservation. I dream about the crab cakes & the Jambalaya is a classic here. My friend had the steak & t was cooked perfectly. Even the staff Seemed to up there game. Very friendly & efficient. I'd also recommend this place to swing in for drinks & apps after work. The bar is always poppin' with frequent patrons. The food at Chardonnay's is always amazing. I ordered the orange ginger salmon, which was perfectly cooked. My son ordered the braised short ribs, which were so tender and flavorful. We went in December and the ambiance was really cozy and is decorated beautifully for Christmas. The reason for marking them down to four stars is that they now charge a fee when you pay with a credit card. I've never heard of this at a restaurant and was quite surprised when the amount I was charged was higher than the bill. read more

Went by Chardonnays for an anniversary dinner. We had reservations so we were seated right away without any wait. Our Server was very attentive and friendly. Our meals came out in a timely manner, nicely spaced out. All of the food was cooked perfect. Although they were fairly busy it wasn't noisy and the temp wasn't too cold. I was really disappointed with my visit to Chardonnays in Seekonk. I ordered the filet mignon medium-well, but it came out pretty bloody. Our waiter didn't check on us until about 15-20 minutes after we got our meals, and when I mentioned it, he offered to re-cook it or give us dessert. We declined since we'd already been waiting a while. Before we got the check, a manager came over and again offered dessert or an espresso martini to make up for it, which we appreciated but turned down. At that point, the meal was already a letdown. I didn't eat my steak and ended up bringing it home for my dogs -- and even they wouldn't eat it. To make things worse, when it came time to pay, I found out they charge a 3% fee for credit cards, so I used my debit card to avoid that. But I was still charged extra -- about $2 and some change. When I asked why, I was told the waiter didn't realize it was a debit card. So, not only did I pay for a meal I couldn't eat (and neither could my dogs), but I also got overcharged. Every time I come here everything has been on point! There is plenty of parking, the staff and servers are attentive and try to accommodate your request. Several times I have altered a pasta dish and it has been no problem. The menu has many options for food and drinks. There are only two bathrooms, no multiple stalls, so a line can form. Went on a Monday night and was blown away with how busy it was! Every spot in the (very spacious) parking lot were full and cars were waiting around for others to leave to get a spot. But I can understand why! My pomegranate martini was great, the lobster ravioli was great, and my friend loved her steak and dessert pizza! My favorite local place as a Seekonk restaurant. It's got a fancier vibe than other places and extensive specials (though I actually have never done a happy hour or weekday special!). The waiters are nice and usually pretty attentive though since we go often, sometimes we get an odd night here or there where it's slow as heck. Food options are plentiful and a price point for everyone. There have been same nights where my meal doesn't really meet the standard I have had before. For example, my pasta and red sauce this week was absolutely drowning in red sauce. I ended up only eating a little it was almost inedible and I've never had the dish served to me like that before. They have a frequent diners program but I do find the date period a little to quick and they expire usually, every $200 you get a reward but you can't use Fridays or Saturday and usually it's only a 2 week expiration. I'd prefer longer especially with the night limits in place. I always feel comfortable, they always have a table open. Even thought every 1/6 visits will be less than, we will always be return customers. read more

Calamari, fig jam & arugula grilled pizza, shrimp cocktail, salmon, veal saltimboca, short ribs, brownie sundae, ice cream. Plus we enjoyed our drinks as well! Went there off the cuff for pizza and a salad. The pizza rustico was not good at all. This was a saturday night at 6PM...disappointing. We sat at the bar, however, our bartender was more interested in her friends who were sitting to the right of us. Refilled my wine glass, but we had to ask for another beer for my husband whose glass was empty...she was not focused...running around the bar to take photos with her friends as well. We had a reservation at 6:00p.m The host informed us that our reservation was 6:30pm. So we waited at the bar. At 6:25 p.m. my boyfriend went to check to see if our table was ready. The host said that we did not have a reservation at all. The reservation was under the name of Steve. The female hostess said they had three reservations under the name of Steve. She did not ask for a phone number, last name or email. She just said there was no reservation. My boyfriend presented the email confirmation. The hostess said that he was out of luck. My boyfriend said that's not my problem. The host a young male, tossed the phone on the desk. He then said don't raise your voice at me. The host stated Don't pay for your drinks just get the f*** out. My boyfriend came back to the bar where I was sitting and said we were just thrown out we have to leave. I thought he was joking. So I asked the bartender do we pay here or bring the tab to the table? My boyfriend stated we are not paying the tab. So the bartender asked what the host said. She then asked us to wait a moment while she spoke to the manager. The manager Clayton was extremely apologetic, he seated us right away. Our drinks were comped, a free appetizer and dessert. He was stunned and shocked at the lack of service, courtesy, and unprofessional behavior. We appreciated his efforts. Our waitress Remy was also lovely. Now I have been in Customer Support for over twenty years. If one of my employees EVER directed profanity at a customer, they would lose their jobs on the spot. They would pack up their belongings and be escorted out of the building. End of story. Despite the valiant efforts of Clayton and Remy, we will never go to Chardonnays again. When you make a mistake own it and make it right by your customer. HOWEVER, when an employee goes out of their way to place the reputation of an establishment by treating a customer with such dismissive disrespect, there needs to accountability. I thought this place was a sure thing after multiple times of being there. We had a table for 8 for my mothers birthday. Service was terrible. Drinks were terrible. Food was terrible as well. But the service trumped ALL! Then the nerve to throw the bill on the table at the end and say tip is included, she never even asked how was everything was, nor an apology. Ate here for my birthday 4 days ago (11/4/23) and I definitely won't be a return customer. At first everything seemed great, I liked where I was seated and the hostess was very nice but it all went down hill from there. My server was so rude to me the entire night for no reason. Never wished me a happy birthday which isn't necessary but it's a nice gesture at least. Anything I asked he responded with the worst attitude. He even went as far as telling me they couldn't give me a different sauce one that I am allergic to that came with my dish that it would "piss off the cook" if he asked for a substitute. Not my fault I can't consume what my dish came with. My drink came out about 15 minutes after the rest of my party's drinks, the bread was hard as a rock. The continued rude service at one point had me so upset I wanted to leave. This guy should not be serving the public he pretty much ruined my birthday dinner. I've given so much business to Meritage I did not expect this from one of their restaurants. I'm done supporting this company. read more

We have been to Chardonnay's several times over the last years. Usually the food and service is good and worthy of 4-5 stars. Not so last two Sunday nights! Previous Sunday dined at regular dining area and ordered beet salad which was excellent and pesto shrimp with pasta. Something was off in the sauce! Excessive creamy base with a sour taste. Usually an excellent choice but not this time! Very disappointed. This Sunday sat at the bar and ordered a pizza, very salty with soggy crust. Kale soup decent but again heavily salted and appetizers with drinks. Brussel sprouts were good but a little too sweet. Calamari overcooked and Portuguese little necks which were fresh but not seasoned well and not the best we have had. Our bar bartender and overall service was excellent. Ambience nicely appointed and a little loud but to be expected at this lively restaurant. Won't be back on Sundays but may try again on Thursdays or Fridays as was also mentioned in the reviews! And 3% added for credit card use?? Hopefully some improvements will be made on Sunday dining in the future! read more

Hit up Happy Hour. Huge portion of calamari for $8.25. I didn't get one tough piece and they were very crispy. The Nachos ($8.25) weren't as great however. There wasn't enough of their amazing white sauce and not enough toppings. I had a lot of plain chips at the end. I was going to add chicken, but last time I did they put barely any on. My parent's meals were good which included thei fig-jam pizza and a burger. read more

Great unassuming place! Came for a family dinner, and from the service to the atmosphere to the food it was five stars. Our age range varied from 14 to 83, and everyone was very happy. I forgot to take pics of the calamari, but I'd get it again. Very plump but also crispy. We had pizza and the beet salad and the Kabob Trio. The latter comes with rice, but we asked for mashed potatoes instead, and it was the right decision!!! Outstanding! The pizza was nice and crispy as well. We also had the PB&C Cake and the brownie Sundae, too. Not much was left of anything! You should try this little gem. read more

I went there last night for dinner. we ordered appetizers and dinner/drinks. i told the waiter the nachos were burnt, he said he would let the owner know. And that was it. Noone came over to look at it and it wasn't even taken off the bill. Ohh and also a credit card surcharge. My boyfriend asked for no tomatoes on his meal and was told it has to be the way it is. This was our first time here, we came to celebrate my husband's birthday. We ordered the Blood Orange Cosmo, which was fantastic! We Shared the Fig & arugula flatbread appetizer, it was soo tasty! For the entrees my husband got the pasta with lobster, scallop & shrimp in a cognac cream sauce, it was excellent. I got the filet with mashed & sautéed veggies. The steak was so tender, delicious & cooked perfectly. For desert we shared the Banana cream pie, it was outstanding! Our sever, Rubin was friendly, very accommodating, knowledgeable of the menu & professional. Julie, the hostess, greeted us with a smile & seated us promptly & even returned to our table several times, to make sure our first time at Chardonay was great. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Went to the restaurant for my friend's birthday Thursday. When we arrived it was surprisingly busy but we were seated at our table right away before our reservation time. Our waitress was super nice and very attentive confirming we made great choices. For an appetizer we had the small plate chicken parmesan meatballs. They were delicious and I would definitely order them again. My friend had the beef special with risotto and I had blackened chicken and broccoli pasta in a creamy mascarpone, pancetta sauce that was so good. We both had a couple drinks with our meals. She really liked her lemon blackberry martini and I had the seasonal apple cider margarita. I did not care for the drink. It was not because of the restaurant but more of my taste. I didn't feel the apple cider blended well with tequila. It gave off a bitter flavor on my pallet. I should have gone with my first instinct to order the apple cider sangria instead. We finished our meal with dessert. She had the flourless chocolate torte and I had the banana cream pie. The bananas were flambéd right at the table. It was amazing. The restaurant is always neat and clean with a very friendly atmosphere. I highly recommend Chardonnay's especially for special occasions. read more

Not much to brag about here. To be honest, the place was packed. So maybe that's why our server forgot to bring us dinner rolls and water (we were starved). The hostess DID seat us as quickly as she could. She was great. One of my party ordered a beer, and got served a measly 6 oz. glass. I don't know why they won't tell you that since it's a higher alcohol content beer they will only serve you a dinky portion. And I think to limit you to a half portion is bull, since my cocktail certainly had a higher alcohol content than his. I think it's only for profit. My meal was the special (pictured here). Jumbo shrimp scampi over capellini noodles. Do those look like jumbo to you? Not really. Not even large. Medium more like it. It did taste good though. Just not worth the $27 price tag. The other party members' meals were fine. Overall had it not been for our moderately attentive server, and both the small portioned beer and entree, I might've given it another star. When you drive by this place on a dark Saturday evening, you don't really notice that it is there. You have to rely on your GPS on your phone to show you where it is. It is not like in a restaurant row or some other places that are well lit and well marked. Anyways, you get there on a Saturday evening, you see the parking lot almost completely full. Found a spot in the back side of the building. It looks obvious that the place is doing great business. We go inside, and the waiting area is packed. We were a bit early so we wait. We had to wait additional 15 minutes beyond the time we were promised. That is not too bad considering how crowded this place is. Were were seated at the bar area with high chairs. Nice view of the bar and the dining area. The wait staff is very busy but keeping it together. No huge issues. Started with golden crispy calamari. Perfectly done. Then moved on to the main dishes. We had the $45 surf and turf special - 8 oz filet mignon, stuffed shrimp and scallops to split between two of us, plus the $28 14 oz grilled rib eye steak for the kid. Glasses of Kendall-Jackson chardonnay for her and craft beer for me. Both of us are completely satisfied with the quality of drinks, food and the desert. Everyone walks away happy and full. We will be back again when it is not too busy. This place will get a 5 star if the service was a bit faster. read more

Plenty of parking. As soon as you walk in the aroma is intoxicating. The service is phenomenal. The drinks are really good. Big glasses. The patron margarita or the red sangria is what I would recommend. Ask for the bread. It is so soft on the inside with a crust outside and is served warm with whipped salted butter. We had the lobster ravioli in a lemon cream sauce that was to die for. We also got the braised short rib special in red sauce and homemade pasta with lemon ricotta on top, so yummy. Then to finish the night we got dessert. Vanilla Creme brulee, banana cream pie is torched right at the table to brulee the sugar on the bananas, and PB&C that is chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse with a chocolate ganache over the whole slice. read more

I was really disappointed with the filet mignon I ordered. I asked for a temperature of medium rare to medium. The rest of the party ordered the happy hour appetizers. My meal came out a little later than all the appetizers (that was their meal). The filet was rare and barely cooked, which made me think that they forgot to make my meal with all the other appetizers. I asked for it to be cooked more. It came back again and it was charred on the outside and STILL rare inside. The manager agreed it was rare and that if it were his meal, he would send it back. They "re-plated" the sides with the 3rd go-around attempt, and they were cold. The filet was now cooked to my liking on the inside but all I could taste was the burnt char from the outside. We've driven by Chardonnay's several times and never thought to go, but finally decided to try it out. Our server was attentive and kind. The food was pretty good! The bread to start came out warm with some butter. I had the major flirt drink and it was refreshing and sweet. The entrees were all enjoyed. We had the kabob trio, penne jambalaya, fresh cod and the salmon special. The only thing we didn't love was the s'mores pie. It was hard as a rock and the marshmallows had this weird taste probably because it was super frozen. The crème brûlée was good tho. Would definitely get the Melba dessert pizza in our next visit. Our server, Remy, was amazing! She was so attentive, helpful, and friendly. The restaurant seems to need a bit of updating. We hadn't been there for several years but it seems gloomy and dark, not in a cozy way. I seem to remember it being nicer inside. However, the food was very good. Some of our dishes were served piping hour while others were only like warm. But, overall, the taste of the food was excellent. Be advised, however, if paying with a credit card they charge a 3% fee. For an expensive restaurant (entrees averaging about $30 per person), this fee can be substantial. This policy is not poted on their website or on the menu. It's in very fine print on the bill. If you do not know this in advance though, you wouldn't have enough cash on hand. I just think it's a bit gauche to charge a credit card fee at what is considered a "fine dining" establishment. read more

There was a bug in my friends drink and they replaced it and charged us. When we mentioned it they say no, you had an extra drink? I got the short rib and it was a massive long bone with about 5 bites of meat and a ton of fat. Everyone complained that the portion sizes were not what they used to be. My friend got the chicken Marsala and left 70% of it behind because it was so hard and chewy. We just chalked it up to a busy night. They charge 3% if you use a credit card. I hate that businesses up charge you for a service that they provide. Very greedy vibes. read more
