Create Your Own Rustique Bistro Burger

We found Blades years ago and anytime we are in Placitas or get a calling for a cozy setting and a delicious meal we head over. The quality of the service and food is still top notch after all of these years. The menu is still priced right and earlier in the week they have a few simpler options that come with a great price. On this visit we had an order of fish and chips along with a Bistro burger. The fries on both plates were super crispy. The fish and burger were on point for how they were prepared. They really do a great job here and it's worth a trip. They often have space for walk ins.

We had a wonderful Valentine dinner. We loved the Brussels sprouts appetizer. I had the strip special and hubby had the chicken and both were phenomenal! The best was dessert-I had the bread pudding and hubs had the cheesecake. Our server was attentive and great. Loved the bistro atmosphere.

Tuna, appetizer, and old-fashioned

My wife and I went here on a Saturday evening and were promptly seated. I ordered the tuna appetizer and a wedge salad. My wife got a lemon chicken dish. All entrées and appetizers were delicious. In addition. The apple strudel was fantastic. I ordered an old-fashioned and my wife got some white wine which were equally delicious. the only reason for not giving five stars Were the mashed potatoes. They had absolutely no flavor. I'm not sure what they were going for but compared to everything else. It was definitely a needs improvement. However, the rest of the mail was fantastic. I would definitely go back.

Lemonade (they give you a small pitcher along with your glass!)

I visited this place on a road trip from Colorado to New Mexico to hang out with my girlfriend's parents. They took us here and I'm not going to lie, I was skeptical since it was a seafood heavy restaurant and kind of in the middle of nowhere in New Mexico. Boy, was I surprised. The first thing that I was really happy about was that when ordering a lemonade, they also provided a pitcher along with it. The waitress said it was to make her life easier but it made my day as well. The appetizers were really tasty but I would like to specifically point out the brussels sprouts. Perfect roast and distribution of ingredients! The entrees were all really tasty as well. I had the Con Frutti de Mare and everything tasted great. I wished there was a bit more pasta but not a big deal. To top things off, service was great! I don't remember what our waitress's name is but she nailed everything!

Excellent food and service. I'm so glad this restaurant is nearby. And very consistent in both food and service quality.

Overall good but the prices are higher than one would suspect. The service is good and lots of locals eat there

I will admit I had some reservations about this place from previous posts and pictures that I saw online, however, definitely don't knock this place till you try it. We showed up for dinner and immediately noticed a smaller restaurant with the vibe of France. Our server immediately greeted us with warm smiles and sat us down near the front window. He was extremely knowledgeable about the foods and type of wines they had available. Food- WAS AMAZING. We ordered an appetizer and 2 entrees; everything came out in a timely manner. We never felt rushed even when we noticed that the restaurant started to get packed. We will admit there is one guy running the entire front of house, but he did an amazing job catering to everyone. We ordered the Onglet Shallots Hanger Steak and Fruit De Mer. Everything was cooked perfectly and we were informed that everything was made by hand!! Plus we were able to take the flowers home with us! Our server informed us that the vase was from a local shop nearby as well as the flowers! Definitely will be returning to try more on the menu!

I loved all the French decor idea, but I do think they could revamp a few details in that department. The food was outstanding! We ordered the French Onion soup which, from the photos, you can tell was excellent. Cheese pull galore on that Gruyère! We also shared the escargot, because where else can you jump on that opportunity.... The snails were buttery and divine. Very happy with that choice. For the main we shared the beef tenderloin wrapped in pastry, or beef Wellington. This was my favorite part of the meal. It was cooked beautifully, nice rare in the middle. The reduction sauce paired beautifully with the melt in your mouth tenderloin. I wish they had more beer selection, all they had was Heineken and Guinness. But many wines to choose from. It was definitely an experience coming here. Would recommend, but don't forget to make a reservation.

The goodness began with Naomi, who helped me fix an error in my reservation and get a table at a good time tonight. The goodness continued with our server Mitzi, who should be teaching graduate classes in hospitality in every big city. She was friendly without being overbearing, informative without being pedantic, subtle and gracious. Now, the food! My wife chose the vegetarian tasting menu and I had some of each dish: so very flavorful (a green salad with pears, a life-changing mushroom bisque [and I don't like mushrooms!], a chickpea croquette with pickled artichoke hearts and ratatouille, and a substitution of the lemon crepe for three yummy scoops of sorbet and gelato. I chose the scallops, perfectly cooked and moist, over couscous, and a dish of tasty sauteed baby spinach. A wonderful experience, and not overpriced, and everyone treated us sweetly. The musical soundtrack was swinging, and at a compassionate volume. Our first trip to Santa Fe, and we found a gem. Hooray! And thank you, Mitzi!

The interior is classy and very comfortable. We were seated at a nice comfy corner booth. The soft music in the background was soothing and just noticeable enough without being a distraction. We were served complimentary flutes of local sparking wine and a fresh baked bread basket and butter to start. We then ordered cocktails and three starters. First was a split plate of the endive smoked duck salad with a warm bacon vinegarette. Wow...this was nice and refreshing. This was followed by the crab dumplings with fresh corn and peas and lobster sauce. Delicious! The final small plate was seared foie gras on top of banana bread toast. This was very good. I miss foie gras. Unfortunately, it's banned in California. They had a 2023 Sea Smoke "Ten"Pi ot Noir on the wine list. This is one of the best Pinot Noirs produced in California and not easy to find. This was a no doubter and we ordered a bottle to pair with our entrees. My wife ordered their signature elk tenderloin for redemption because the restaurant the night before failed at executing this. I ordered the tomahawk pork chop. This was cooked to perfection with a nice thin crust on the outside and a perfect very light pink juicy center. We ordered a side of brocolini that was pan roasted with shallots and butter. Everything was very good and Michelin grade in our opinion. Lastly we ended the evening and split the tiramasu type of desert. My wife had the expresso martini and I had an 18 year old Glen Morangie scotch neat. The service was excellent and worth the splurge. This is a must when visiting Santa Fe.

I just wish the inside was a little fluffier and layered. The pain au chocolate was excellent and had good chocolate inside of it. Quiche Champignon: I love that they make individual sized quiches instead of selling slices. I wish there was a little more mushroom but otherwise delicious. Chicken Salad Croissant: This was the unanimous favorite of the table. The chicken salad was creamy but wasn't too heavy because of the acidity. Frenchy: This French dip was simple and contained just roast beef and mustard. The baguette was crispy but not hard. Service: 4.5 Our sever was very patient with our requests. Food did not take too long to come out. My main gripe is that it took awhile to get seated but that is not the servers fault. It was just packed and they need more help! Ambiance: 5 The bistro is tucked inside an unassuming plaza. It is actually quite nice inside and is good for a casual brunch with friends.

I stopped in last week and ordered a black forest cake slice to go. I was thinking that a little sugar with coffee in the morning was good. I also knew that Gayle wouldn't snack on it as she doesn't like fruit and chocolate mixed together in a dessert. The "to-go" line was a little slow, mostly due to a combination of chatter and specialty coffee drink preparation. But I wasn't much in a hurry.
