It's 1 o'clock on a weekday afternoon and they are out of the chicken caldo so I got chicken tortilla soup. It was good, just enough cheese with thinly sliced tortilla strips and lots of chicken. Although the caldo is a more generous serving. Still it was good.

The wait to be seated was a little long. There's a sign that says "short staffed", so I was patient. The food came out quickly after I ordered. It was basically good. The menu prices must have recently changed because the pictures of the menu from 2 months ago are lower than the actual current prices. The corn tortillas are thick and have that "homemade" feel and taste. It was a very busy lunch time but the server checked in on me anyway. Moderate noise level considering how busy it was. The inside is plain, no frills.

This place is the best blanco cafe. It's clean, fast and be nice to the staff because it's busy. I always get the cheese enchiladas and my dude got the ham and egg plate the eggs were fluffy. The price is a little high, but it's worth it. I like this place more than the one on Blanco, because it has good parking. Don't worry it's the same food, you're not missing out.

Had their steak fajita taco and I thought the meat was seasoned well. I had it to go so it was still pretty fresh and tasty when I brought it back. The portion size of the tacos are pretty good and I usually can eat one or two for lunch. The tortillas are soft but a little thick. If you can't finish the tacos they also microwave really well the next day.

    Kinda stingy with the asada???

First and last visit. Unfortunately, my experience here was disappointing from the moment I walked in. The staff was unwelcoming and didn't acknowledge guests as they entered, which immediately set a negative tone. I place a lot of value on ambiance, and when a place doesn't feel inviting, it's not somewhere I want to spend time. While the restaurant was busy--likely due to its popularity with some--I personally found the food to be bland and underwhelming. There are definitely other local mom-and-pop taco spots in the Medical Center area that are more worth exploring.

After finishing up an appointment earlier than expected, I had some to kill before heading to work. I stopped here to get some breakfast tacos. I don't believe I had visited this location before. The parking lot was semi full which I thought was a good sign. I entered the building and a gentleman said I could sit anywhere. I found a table easily due to their large dining room. Place seemed about half full with patrons. My waitress dropped by with the menu, and to take my drink order. I opted for the carne guisada and barbacoa taco. My food arrived soon after along with a bowl of hot sauce. The carne guisada taco had several large pieces of meat, which were tender. However, the gravy was bland. The hot sauce was added but didn't bring much heat. The barbacoa taco was served with cilantro and onion. However, I found it to be bland as well. The tortillas were pretty good. After paying my bill, I left to head to work. Not sure if I will come back to this location unless it is for enchiladas.

I have been eating here forever. There is a reason why they are always one of the top spots of Tex-Mex style enchiladas. Their tortillas are made fresh and served warm, I suggest slathering them with butter or just load them up with the contents of this plate.. a beef fajita, enchilada, rice and bean taco.. Yes Please!! Expect to wait for a table when they are busy, but know that the food will come out hot and fresh.

This was the first time I was in Blanco Café, and it was very inviting and the wait staff there was inviting as well. The presentation of my order was outstanding. It was a chicken fried steak and as all chicken fried steaks go it was a little bit tough other than that. It tasted good. I would go back again. They do not offer a military discount!

Beef Enchiladas but it was Chicken Enchiladas

When I was ask what I wanted to drink, I told her, I just wanted water with 3 lemons, I was told my limit was Only 1 lemon, and I if wanted more, they would charge me 4 for $1.29. Ok, I will buy the extra lemons. So then my husband and I gave our ordered to the waitress, which I wanted chicken enchiladas and my husband wanted the beef enchiladas. When we got our food, the plates had a little bit of chicken on top of the enchiladas and little bit of beef on his, so we would get the right plates. Well, when I cut my chicken enchiladas, I had the beef and my husband had my chicken enchiladas! I was so mad! I tasted the chicken enchiladas and they were nasty. He said he will eat them. Other thing I noticed, we asked don't you all serve chips and salsa while we are waiting for your food? Yes we can, but we will charge you $5.00 for them. I was so upset, with everything. I just left it alone. My husband said, we just won't Ever come here again! So my suggestion. I don't recommend anyone going there. My first and last time to Blanco Cafe! Bad experience! Needs Better Service!!!

Great food and service as always! Parking lot is always crowded. Good sign of a good restaurant! Very clean inside! Sometimes the parking lot is full, especially at noon time! Popular with patients and medical staff near the hospital!

The CFS PLATE! ONLY ON TUESDAY!
    Timothy M.

I love this place! Tuesday is chicken fried steak special! Excellent! Real steak and not a gross amount of batter. Cream gravy!

gravy for the enchiladas it tasted like it was flower, chili powder with microscopic minced beef of some sort with zero spices
    Martin R.

Food quality has gone down so much the once delicious enchiladas are Gone! Their Cheese Enchiladas barely come with any cheese any more and the once delicious gravy is Gone as well - (Gravy) there is hardly any meat and poorly seasoned to the point of just flower and chili powder with tiny mincemeat that is placed on the side of the enchiladas but wait if you want more of this stuff you can buy it for 3.00. Mr San Miguel would be so disappointed to what has happened to the quality of food at the Blanco Cafe, this will be our last meal at this restaurant

House made fluffy flour tortillas were great.

Electronic dance music pulsed quietly in the background. The toilets were all individual unisex stalls that were classy, mine had run out of hand towels. Also, the entire restaurant is very dimly lit. I had to use the flashlight on my phone to read the menu, but I have poor eyesight so there's that, but it might explain the quality of the photos I took. The Paloma drink was amazing. It had a great spicy zing in the back of the throat after every sip. Queso was... kinda plain. It might have been better with the add chorizo option. It was very thick. Shrimp cocktail was big, but we started fighting over the shrimp pieces. There was plenty of onion and tomato left over after the batttle. Pollo Asado was a great flavor and the chicken was juicy. Grilled squash that was on the side was good. Chicken enchiladas were good and had freshly sliced jalapeños, which is always a welcome detail. I wasn't able to taste the quesadilla but my daoughter said it was "really good". Fried Chicken sandwich had a great flavor and the bacon was actually pork belly if I'm not mistaken. Sadly there was more batter than chicken. The seasoned fries were delicious and crispy.

Our server was very friendly, attentive, and made sure to check on us throughout the meal. The drinks were definitely generous with the alcohol, which we appreciated. However, my piña colada was not quite what I expected. It had more of a milky consistency rather than the icy, blended texture I usually associate with a piña colada. As for the food, it was decent but nothing particularly memorable. I was especially looking forward to the paella, but unfortunately the rice tasted a bit sour, which was disappointing. Overall, the service and atmosphere were the highlights of the experience, while the food left some room for improvement.

It was delicious! The concha was soft, buttery and flaky, with just the right sweetness. We took home the majority of it and it stayed nice and soft instead of turning hard like so many others. We decided to try several appetizers to go along with our concha to get a wider taste of their food than we would by just ordering a couple entrees. Let me tell you, this was a great idea! We ordered the Tosti-Ceviche Verde, Panela Asado, Mexican Street Corn, and their Spicy Bean Dip. The Ceviche Verde was excellent, the freshness of the fish and shrimp was wonderful with the chipotle mayo and avocado. We chose to have it on the salsa Verde Tostitos and it was all great combination. The Panelo Asado was a completely new dish for us and was extremely good with a savory flavor from the salsa Tlaquepaque that mixed well with the Panela cheese. Their tortillas though not made in house, are made for them and taste like mom made them. The Mexican Street Corn was great and had the perfect bit of char taste from the corn. It was creamy and flavorful, we did think it could use just a tad more lime juice though. The Spicy Bean Dip was very good. You can't go wrong with Oaxaca, Chorizo, and pieces of pork mixed with some mildly spicy beans. Our server was fantastic. She had great recommendations for us, and was quick with checking on our drinks and generally helping us throughout our dinner. The food was prepared quickly, was hot, tasteful and refreshing. Not sure if the Italian side and the cantina side share the same kitchen, but we will remember to come back and try that side as well. If the Italian menu and preparation is as unique as the cantina's, it will be a worthy adventure. For our appetizer we got the cheese dish pictured. I can not recall the name, but the cheese is a cool light cheese served in a warm tomato-based sauce, topped with slices of fresh avocados and chicharones and was served with flour and corn tortillas. Very delicious! As mentioned in the opening...the menu, preparation, and presentation at Panfila is unique. For our entrees my wife got the chile Relleno and I got the Milanese con Mole. The chile Relleno was served in a bowl with just an absolutely fabulous sauce and stuffed and covered with nicely melted cheese. The Milanese con Mole was absolutely decadent! The tender pork was lightly fried and covered in the most delicious mole that I have ever eaten. The chocolate was a little more prominent in the flavor profile than I am used to; and I wouldn't think that I would like that, but it was perfect! I enjoyed every bite and used the extra tortillas from our appetizer to finish off the mole. Highly recommend anything on the menu that incorporates that mole!! Fantastic place!
