I've been here countless times and I've had incredible experiences as of yesterday. I believe they don't allow you to do extra strawberry syrup if you order strawberry shortcake Matcha I had asked if I didn't taste a strawberry or if I didn't like it would I be OK to just get a refund this man who was not even the one making the drinks or taking my order gets very upset and his whispering things under his breath and making little faces and being chaotic and starting a scene. The one who took my order, said that he understood what I was saying, and it would be fine, when the matcha came out, the kind worker asked how it was & it was perfect. I thanked them and i told the guy who was rude .. that like I said I wasn't going to refund it automatically.. I was obviously hoping it would be what I wanted because if not I'd rather just not even follow through with the transaction.. then I walked out. When I was outside I took a photo of the guy who was condescending & rude so that I can post it on yelp. He came out of the store when I was walking away took a photo of me. I told him that I was just taking a photo for yelp, he proceeded to start yelling, he also said he was taking a photo of me for Instagram. I've been waiting to try Blank Street and today I was close by so I stopped in. I saw the Carrot Cake matcha on the menu so I was intrigued. I ordered it with oat milk and it was such a pleasant taste. The carrot taste came through along with the autumnal spices and the matcha. It was like a warm fall hug yet refreshing. i've seen blank street coffee shops popping up and sprawled all throughout the city so was curious what the hype was all about. this location is probably one of the smaller ones with a tiny barista station, narrow register, and an equally narrow barstool countertop along its storefront window. BUT because it wasn't busy when i went (end of workday), it didn't feel cramped at all. instead it actually felt quite cozy. on the menu, there were several matcha flavors that all honestly sounded interesting and tasty (eg. strawberry shortcake matcha, daydream matcha, pb&j matcha aka its spring special). ultimately i ordered a large blueberry matcha ($6.65 price, $7.29 after tax) and unfortunately, despite its promising vibrant green color, not only did they make me the wrong size but i could neither taste blueberry nor matcha in the drink. so quite disappointed in the quality. perhaps it was just this location and hoping for better luck at another one... read more

Blank Street Coffee has a new location on Lexington Avenue. It just opened recently. Coffee is reasonably priced and they offer breakfast pastries and breakfast tacos. I like the outside seating but it fills up with customers quickly during the week! It's a very basic operation. Two employees working the counter provide speedy service. $2.50 for a small brew was reasonable so I gave it a try for my morning coffee. It's a different tasting coffee and it's not bad, just a different taste. I did use two Sweet n Lows. I tried to pay cash but he said for now credit card only. At least they have the ability to email or text you your receipt! They mentioned on the internet that Blank Street is the new coffee cart trend. This one is a coffee shop. I personally hope they don't replace my NYC coffee carts! I'm recommending you visit on a Sunday Morning. It's very cool outside today so I'm enjoying my coffee sitting out front. Great shop for a hot drink. It was so cold outside so went there and got a chai latte. Quick and friendly service and the hot drink warmed me up. The small cut is pretty small but it was just the right amount for me to drink on the go. Try this place out. The pasties look yummy too. read more

I walked into this location and stood in an area where there was room because a few people were already in there and the trap door was left open in the middle of the room. The woman at the register (this was around 12:45pm on 9/5) said something to me and I couldn't hear her. She said it again at the same level and I said sorry? And she screamed DID YOU ORDER ONLINE?. It was very rude and uncalled for. I said no, I ordered online and that's why I didn't walk up to order. She said something to me again at a low voice and I said excuse me I can't hear you. She screamed YOU CANT STAND THERE. She was referring to the trap door and honestly there was not enough space to stand without being on top of other people. I don't think that door should have been open during a busy period since the standing room is so limited and the door is in the middle of the space. read more

I dont recommend this place at all. The coffee shop is relatively new and a replacement for the old Oren's i think. They have these dirty fake grass patches that they layout on the sidewalk. They don't take cash. They don't accept cash tips. They dont have regular black iced tea. They have a basement door that is in the middle of the store that I almost fell in. The baristas are unkempt and have bad attitudes. Like..not even a hello or how are you? Shoddy latte art. Sticky counters. NAH. Id say skip this one because they seem like a novice start up coffee chain (they have 20 other locations) with too many problems this early on. I had never heard of this cafe till I saw a post yesterday on social media that it was coming to the UES and that there'd be free drinks. So, I walked over during lunch to check it out. I figured they'd be handing out cold brew or a hot drip coffee, which I would've liked too, but I was pleasantly surprised I could order whatever I wanted. I was craving a cold coffee, but since many people in line before me were ordering something matcha, and as per the cashier's suggestion, I decided to try the iced matcha latte, which doesn't come sweetened, though they can sweeten it for you, as well as the espresso rocks, of which I had never heard but was instantly intrigued. Excellent idea for both. Truly. The espresso rocks comes shaken with milk (I got oat) and sugar, and though I usually prefer my espresso or coffee black, this was a treat! The matcha latte was also tasty, and frankly, did not need sugar, so good call on that, sir. If you're going today, the line took about 20-25 mins, which wasn't too bad, and was worth it, honestly. I love exploring new coffee shops in New York and this one was on my way to work so I had to check it out. They have an app that you can download on the App Store (just search Blank Street) which you can use to redeem your first drink free. The app serves as helping you order ahead for pickup in the store (you can also make customizations) and as a point system for rewards when you purchase. The app works smoothly and is very easy to navigate. I tried the s'mores ice latte (which was a seasonal drink) - It was a interesting flavor but certainly one I would not order again. I also asked for less ice, and it seems like there were literally no ice in there. Overall, I was able to order ahead and have the drink ready as soon as I got there!
