Hadn't been here in quite some time... no particular reason per se, but as part of my activity on Yelp I decided to come here once again for a re-discovery of sorts. For the pizzas there are a lot of really good options for toppings... the basic combinations are great, but you can custom make your toppings, which is a really nice touch. As I did on my very first visit a few years back, I went with the BBQ Chicken Pizza which has mozzarella and gorgonzola cheese, chicken, red onion, banana peppers and BBQ drizzle. I added some oregano to it, because I love oregano. They even wound up putting more of the BBQ sauce than I had previously remembered... not necessarily a good or bad thing, but I was pleasantly surprised. As remembered, the pizza was excellent. It's a thin style pizza which is similar to a classic neopolitan style pie, and is more than enough to satisfy my hungry appetite. Each time previously, my pizzas from here had been cooked perfectly, and today was no exception. In spite of being a really thin pizza, they still manage to have it where the bottom and crust are crispy, but with just enough of the chewy inside and top. I'm a big fan of these craft your own pizza places that have been popping up lately . They are not as heavy and greasy as your run of the mill pizzeria and it's cheaper too. My favorite one of these establishments is Pie-o-mine greens, but Blaze pizza is a close second. What I do like about Blaze is that if you choose the $9.99 pizza, you can add whatever toppings you want (no limit) . I have learned not to add too many toppings though.... the pizza gets weighed down and doesn't get as crispy that way. I went through this few year gap in my life where I didn't eat pizza, and looking back now, I ask myself why I deprived myself of the gooey pleasure. If I recall correctly, it was because everyone slathered it in grease and pepperoni and called it a day. I now make my own pizzas usually, but honestly this week I am too dang tired, and went so far as to pre-order my pizza the day prior for pickup Friday afternoon as a treat for surviving working week of retail during the Covid apocalypse. A friend suggested that I try here, which I avoided for a while because I hate their parking lot, which is why I sent my mate (as delivery has a minimum of ten dollars, with me mere pennies short), with hopes that I could come home and blanket myself with goat cheese and veggies. And white sauce. Gotta get the white sauce. I tinkered around with their nutrition calculator for a bit. It told me that my 11" would come in six slices, which they consider personal, but I'm sharing with my mate, because we're trapped together in the apartment (in front of the tv, instead of staring at the parking lot, ambiance upgrade!). I went for a medley of toppings, as it's a buck forty more to get unlimited compared to a two topper. We have red onion, spinach, both kinds of olives, roasted garlic and mushroom. He recounted his tale to me as I let my half get cold, a personal choice, of how half the restaurant was barricaded by chairs, and how he shoved them aside, having not seen a sign, to find a sole employee making a pizza before taking off his gloves and swapping them for a fresh pair, approaching the register. Kudos to you for keeping the cooties at bay sir, and thank you for the perfect respite to my horrid week. The warm pizza had looked gooey and oozed an oniony, garlic aroma, no surprise. There were a fair proportion of toppings, balanced and spaced as to not overwhelm any slice with a dominant flavor. By the time I had gotten to it, about half an hour later, I was surprised to find it stick had a nice pull to it. The crust was thin and chewy, with a crunchy outer ring, and with no definitive burnt spots, for something that had been cooking at such a high temperature. Using the box lid as a plate (it easily divided in half), I held my slice up, beaming as I announced "it does the flop!" without any of the ingredients slipping off. It wasn't greasy, and the white sauce was mellow and creamy. The cheese was apparent without being overwhelming. And the vegetables weren't soggy, because somebody clearly knows what they're doing there, so thank you to the kind soul manning the restaurant during these hard times. Before starting she asked if I needed them to change gloves to build my pizza - not necessary but how thoughtful of them! This Blaze location (the only in Western New York) is the best one I've ever been to! The staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean, all drinks are always available, and the service is (almost) always on point. I've been to a handful of other locations in California and Florida and I am so happy this is my local Blaze. Whenever I need a quick meal, Blaze is one of the first options that comes to mind. A build your own personal pizza is just over $10 after tax. You can always skip the drink and get a cup for water too if you don't want to add a few more bucks to that! Try the Green Stripe pizza at least once; it is amazing! It has grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, chopped garlic, mozzarella cheese with fresh arugula topped after coming out of the oven as well as a pesto drizzle. Blaze kills it, just to start off live the concept of it being like a subway line, where you can build your own pizza. Their topping selection is amazing! So many choices to choose from, and the fact that it is a delicious thin crust pizza that they throw into a brick oven it cooks a little quicker. While I was there I ordered a Take 2 which is a half of a pizza with a salad. I had a spicy red marinara on it with sausage, chicken, peppers, olives and suckle on my pizza. The people that work there are so sweet and let him put as much cheese as he wants on his pizza. For the first time ever I got a cauliflower crust. It was absolutely amazing. Blaze Pizza opened up earlier this year. I've heard many good things about Blaze and was excited to finally try it. I ordered the "Build your own pizza" which I believe was worth the price. I started off my pizza by adding the classic red sauce, proceeding by adding mozzarella cheese with a selection of Italian sausage and pepperoni. Once I chose my protein, the next staff proceeded with the additional toppings. I added red cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, and basil. The reason why I'm giving this review a 4 star instead of a 5 is because of organization of the toppings. Multiple different toppings were mixed in with other toppings which gladly for me, I didn't have any food allergies. The service was okay. The staff friendly and went in depth to describe the products. However, when I got to the wait station, I noticed that the pizzas came out of order. Few people who ordered after me got their order before I did. When my pizza finally came out, the staff member called out the wrong name although my name was clearly written. When I got there and asked if my pizza was ready, the staff just shrugged and assumed that the pizza he held out was mine. Would I come again? Probably read more
