Luckily, Blaze Pizza opened up near by and wifey and I would come here on one of those nights. This place makes pizza fresh to order. They have an assembly line of college kids running this joint, so the food comes out incredibly fast (literally start to finish 8 minutes and 42 seconds). The ingredients are fresh and there's a wide variety of toppings. The wifey likes to get the White Top pizza with mushrooms and I typically just create my own. The best part is this place is really cheap. 6.95 for you're own pizza is totally worth it. A little about my credentials: I first got into cooking & food when I was in college. After being rejected by numerous girls and getting zero action, I decided it was time for a change. I needed a new makeover to boost my geeky image. I applied for a cooking position at a Mediterranean-Italian Restaurant near my home and learned to cook all sorts of dishes. I really, really like this place. Every time I am near UCI, I pop in for a little treat. Every time I have some, the staff has always been friendly. I appreciate that if you haven't been there before, they take the time to explain the process, versus letting you stand there like a deer in headlights. I usually do the one-topping or if I'm feeling slightly adventurous (and I'm a pretty boring eater) the create your own. One topping gives you, as it says, one topping, where as the CYO gives you as many toppings as you want for a fixed price (just over $8 with tax, I believe). - Ask for a water cup, as the pepperoni can be a wee bit salty, but it's still tasty. - There are mini boxes to the right of the soda machines if your mind is bigger than your stomach and you have leftovers, - The only downside is that the lines can get pretty long, only because 1) there are a lot of people in line and 2) some people take FOREVER. Join the line with some line of what you're craving; it'll make everyone's life easier. - Parking can be a nightmare. They really need a garage or something at University Center. read more

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much... Just a pieology wannabe or 800 degree wannabe. I am impressed. The workers here are very friendly (for being mostly college kids) so far and make a pretty good pizza. I don't like how you're restricted to 3 total meats or cheeses, but basically it becomes a one cheese, two meat pizza. Obviously, don't get parmesian as a cheese... they have jars of that stuff on the side. The vegetables are good and if you ask for a lot they'll hook it up for the specific one you like. Garlic on your pizza is a must! the roasted red peppers are good as well and you can't go wrong with mushroom. Jalapenos don't taste pickled too well, but the pepperochinis are nice. Crust is crispy and doesn't droop even with my million toppings! Also, at the end you can ask for pesto to be squirted onto your pizza and you can add arugula and basil. Not a fan of arugula, but basil and pesto on your pizza tastes great! Surprisingly filling... Siimilar price to Chipotle, and their blood orange lemonade and lemonade are fresh and really good! I was pleasantly surprised to find that this place is open late till 1am. After a late night event on the UCI campus, my friend and I was tired and just wanted to eat in the area. So we found Blaze Pizza! It is affordable, tasty and fresh, if I was a Student at UCI I could see myself making weekly visits. I've been to Pieology in Fullerton and saw that Blaze is set up exactly the same way. Build your own pizza by pointing at all the various ingredients, assembly line style and within minutes you pie is ready hot from the oven! I love thin crust pizza and when you build your own pizza, there is considerable less grease than pizza from one of those delivery chains. I'm impressed with their business model and wish that more joints would open up all over SoCal, this place kicks Subway's butt. Despite walking past Blaze almost every day on my way to campus, I don't actually eat here very often! If I have to eat near campus, I usually go to one of the cheaper, more convenient options like In-n-out or wendy's--but honestly, blaze is a great deal for what you get! A make your own custom pizza is only a little over 8 bucks, and you can pile as many toppings as you want! The servers here are friendly and helpful. They move you through the line quickly, and your pizza is baked fresh really quickly. I came in today and my pizza was baked in about five minutes! If you don't like customization, they have lots of tasty pre-made pizza selections! I personally love the white top pizza (but you can customize your own pizza with white sauce and you can also get fresh arugula on any pizza after its baked). It's also a great place for groups since they have a lot of seating and it's not like chipotle where the line is super long (although around dinner time it CAN get long). It's supposed to be for one person but honestly I can never finish a whole pizza by myself. They make the pizza right there for you so it is ALWAYS fresh. The manager came and gave that dude a lot of grief even though the Postmates dude verified both orders and showed him the orders on his phone. Postmates dude was a person of color, by the way, and he looked offended that the manager right off the bat accused him of being a their.....even though he was carrying a Postmates pizza bag into the store. A couple of customers next to me were like "Are you serious?" My buddy and I split the White Top and the Link In pizzas from the Signature Pizzas portion of the Blaze menu. The White comes with a cream sauce, mozzarella, bacon, garlic and oregano, plus arugula (post oven). The Link In has roasted red peppers, sautéed onions, mozzarella and red sauce. I love the assembly line Chipotle-style concept, although it took a bit longer than we expected for the pizzas to come up. Both tasted great, and from the line it appeared Blaze is a popular place. I really can't tell the difference between all of these build-your-own pizza places. I guess the only things that set them apart are the prices and the toppings they offer; when it comes to both, Blaze doesn't disappoint. Each pizza is $8.65 and you can find all of the usual pizza ingredients (sausage, pepperoni, bacon, chicken, peppers, jalapenos, mushrooms, the list goes on and on). They do a thin crust pizza so it's ready in minutes. Service is fast and pleasant. However, this location does get busy since it's at the University Center (across from UCI), next to Target and Chipotle. Overall, it's good stuff. Always great coming to Blaze. My order always comes out great and quick. I've been coming to this Blaze since my first days at UC Irvine and never a dull taste. I always build my own pizza and put a bus load of toppings on top of my pizza. Sometimes if I want something extra, I'd get the thicker crust they have and put a drizzle of buffalo sauce cause I love somewhat of a spice on my food. There's a reason most of UCI goes to Blaze and not just the taste. The portions of food you receive are worth the price of food in my opinion. Much better than neighboring Chipotle and Slapfish. I used to love Blaze - I love the build-your-own concept, vegan cheese option & gluten free crust option. Unfortunately I do feel like the quality of the pizzas is going downhill. I stopped going to Blaze for a few months but figured I'd give it another chance, so I ordered a gluten free pizza with vegan cheese, red sauce, chicken, spinach, pineapples, and mushrooms for lunch today via Postmates. I understand that having it delivered it might not be as hot as it is when you dine in, so I was fine with it being a little cold upon arrival. However, when I opened up the box I saw there was a big chunk missing from the middle of my pizza for some reason, several spots were burnt black, there was barely any chicken on it, and about 7 leaves of spinach. It was hard to chew through a lot of the pizza because it was sooo tough and overcooked. The crust was so hard it was nearly impossible to eat. And overall it just had a burnt taste. Kinda just seems like they quickly slapped on toppings, threw it in the oven, and forgot about it. Bummed that I wasted $14 on this and I feel like I've given Blaze enough chances to see if things would improve but they haven't. My husband and I went to this Blaze pizza tonight and it was a complete fiasco. When we got in there there was only two people ahead of us and it looked like it was going to be a good night, but then the evening took a turn for the worse. I of course asked for more, but I thought it was weird that they were all giving the tiniest bit of portions. As I got closer to the front I could see that the oven was burning really hot and the pizzas they were taking out were all burnt. One of the employees was scraping off the bottom part of the charred pizza and serving it to guests! After my husband and I paid for our pizzas and garlic knots we sat down and waited about ten minutes for his name to be called. He asked the worker where my pizza was and they said they were remaking the garlic knots and the pizza because big surprise they were super burnt. After about another 10 to 15 minutes they call my name and I grab my pizza. I ask the worker where the garlic knots are and he says they are in the oven. Well I sit down and start pulling apart my pizza and as it turns out they remade my pizza completely wrong! My husband goes up there a couple of minutes later to talk to the manager and we are able to get a refund on my pizza. While up there my husband asks where the garlic knots are and the worker says oh yeah it's still in the oven. While my husband comes back to the table and tells me that he got it refunded and that the garlic knots are in the oven they call up a guy who ordered way later than us and give him his garlic knots! My husband the. goes up there again and asks them where our garlic knots are and they say they are still in the oven! Then one of the workers says just give him these knots! They gave us someone else's order and I know this cause it still has the poor girls name in it! By the end of the night there was a line to talk to the manger and it seemed like the manager was handing out free pizzas left and right! I gave two stars only because we were refunded. read more

Being QA/QC in food industry and management positions, put me in the position to write this review. Besides their unprofessional shift manager Claudia, the staff who made my pizza was sloppy and splashing toppings, not clean at all.! They have gloves but it seems like they are not trained and aware of its purpose! They use hand with gloves to do other tasks then touch vegetables and other toppings! If you wear gloves you have to touch food with it not doing other tasks, opening door of refrigerator, touch boxes and then touch toppings. You should not put back the left toppings at desk areas on pizza again! Its not clean! You should be careful your arm is not touched with food while working. I brought up the matter with shift manager Claudia who was at register that night but he did not care at all! I asked for my receipt since he didn't give it to me and cause of my comment and his unprofessional reaction. You need to ask if customer wants its receipt!
