Cute, clean and professional nail shop (and adjacent salon.) Its not well marked, but take the elevator upstairs to the third floor for a relaxed and friendly nail salon about a block away from Saks Fifth Avenue, but with terrific bargain prices (particularly, given this is Union Square!) My daughter was itching for a manicure and for $14, she got a great one. She's got her own flair, so she opted to layer white polish with silver glitter to create her signature look. I was happy with a terrific gel manicure that will last me a couple of weeks. Nice magazines and a friendly crew. Call first, as its a pretty small space with 4 pedicure chairs, four manicure tables and when we were there, just two technicians. We came mid-day and mid-week, and we were asked to come back in 30 minutes, but I'm sure if you book ahead, you'll sail right in. read more

So honestly this is not the place I wanted to go to but the location I was planning on going to was busy. I was willing to wait but once I stepped out of that other establishment I saw this place and I we like "wow let's check them out! Hopefully they're not busy" Anyway I was the first person there since it was a bit early. They confirmed they could service me and I was offered something to drink.. so I was beginning to feel satisfied and hopeful that I found my new go to salon! Long story short, I think I had higher expectations of this place due to the location and 1st impression upon walking in because it is pretty nice/organized. However, the results and price did not live up to my expectations. No cuticle oil or even hand lotion, crooked pinky extension placement and my entire nails are not covered with the gel polish which is kind of annoying. I'm very detail oriented and have been getting my nail fills regularly (elsewhere), so these *little things* are just ugh.. look at my cuticles in the picture, like eww, looking so crusty! I came to this place in February to get my nails done for my two year anniversary. I got a male named Kevin I think and he was so nice. Don't expect to be seated immediately when you do a walk in appointment but perhaps in maybe 15 minutes, which is not at all bad. He cut my finger with the drill but he apologized immediately and even gave me a $5 discount. So after two solid cray weeks at work, i found myself getting on a plane for my first business trip of the fall season with nasty chipped toes. Unacceptable. Boogied to the closest salon to my hotel in San Francisco's Union Square and wasn't disappointed. Great selection of nail colors- OPI, Essie, and Zoya are my favorites and practically every color accounted for. There were other brands but these are the ones i know and trust. Forgot to get my nail technician's name but the work is done by the nicest Asian ladies. While I was getting my feet done, the woman in the chair next to mine had come in with really bad/painful ingrown nails. I thought she was going to be a screamer but her nail tech was just as good and attentive as mine. Chair is on point. Salon is clean. They even do hair upstairs. I've never been to Blend salon but decided to call in for an appointment, Kevin picked up my call and we made an appointment for me to come in for a full set of acrylic nails. He did a great job, he was meticulous, and extremely detailed which is so important especially when it comes to acrylic. I've had my own shares of nasty experiences in the past so I was wary of going to a new nail salon but seeing all these yelpers rave about Kevin put my heart at ease. I had initially asked for ombré acrylic which he did but I wasn't satisfied. In the end we worked out a solution and I was so impressed because he didn't have to, he could've just said no and left me disappointed. I have found my new go-to nail salon in the downtown/Union Square area!! I have always had a love/hate relationship with my nails, which are always so thin and brittle. I finally decided to stop getting gel manicures and make the switch back to acrylic nails and after a lot of research on Yelp, Blend Salon looked promising. My appointment was for 3:00pm, however they were able to take me much earlier, at 12:30! As soon as I walked in they had me settled into a comfy chair for a pedicure, and offered water & tea. They have over 500 different colors for gel!! I was so overwhelmed, I chose the first pretty pink that I liked but it's great to know there are a ton of choices to select from. They did a great job on my toes, however Kevin took his time with my new full-set. I could tell his attention to detail, and I left feeling fabulous! If you ever need a mani/pedi downtown, look no further than here. The staff are very nice and their location can't be beat. Treat yourself to a relaxing fresh new coat after some shopping. The second time I came here, I had an appointment at 1:00pm, they said the tech was on their way. I first and foremost need to say that the staff is incredibly nice and friendly. I went there for a second time recently and decided it was time to write this review. The first time I went in was about two weeks ago. Gel manicure, one color. Everything was pretty on point except for the fact that I left there with more cuticles bleeding than not. It's fine. I'm a big girl and can handle some bleeding cuticles. Knowing that sometimes it happens, I went back to get my nails re done. This time I wanted a color that needed white first. It's worth noting I always get my nails square as well. Because the color I picked was so bright, I didn't notice anything until about an hour later. Not ONE of my nails is squared. Most have these weird bumps and ridges at the tips. Most are bumpy. Two have air bubbles. And the white first layer shows through on 7 of 10 nails. Honestly, after two tries, it's not worth it for me to go back. This second time I definitely feel like I've wasted money unfortunately and I'm pretty disappointed. I really wanted to like this place because like I said the staff is incredible sweet and kind. But I'm not paying for their niceness unfortunately. read more

I went there to get a french gel manicure. On Sunday morning there was just a guy and no other staff or any other clients there, which was wierd but safe regarding corona concerns. He simply did not have enough experience to do that. He was not able to make the white tip and I had like 40% of my nails white. I asked him few times to fix it, after 1.5 hrs I gave up and just asked him to remove the gel and I walked out the salon. It was my worst experience ever with a nail salon. read more

1. A nail technician sneezed in her bare hand then put that hand back on me during a manicure. 2. A technician at another table was eating while doing a manicure. 3. The place was loud with a TV and radio on simultaneously, plus people talking in the upstairs room. Furthermore, the TV was playing a Mr. Beans movie that included scenes with babies crying and women screaming. No serene, soothing atmosphere you'd hope for at a salon. In an effort to give constructive feedback, I asked my nail tech if she could turn off the TV audio, especially since no one in the venue was paying attention to the movie. She paused, looked at me with irritation and replied with "I don't know" before hastily resuming the manicure. She clearly didn't care at all about the customer's needs or satisfaction. 4. Instead of professional grade nail supplies, they used a pile of cut up paper towels to groom my nails and a bowl that looked like it was borrowed from someone's dining room table to soak my hands. 5. Traces of old polish were left on my nails as the new polish was applied. 6. A man-- who seemed to work there or just hanging around-- rudely shoved a platter of homemade dessert concoction in my face while getting my manicure. He asked if I wanted a piece, to which I declined. Then this guy insisted, "IT'S GOOD! ARE YOU SURE?" Is this a cookout or a nail salon? I wanted to list the ways in which this business was ghetto and unprofessional beyond belief. No one seemed to have home training nor regard for creating a relaxing, welcoming ambiance catering to the customer. When I tried to give helpful feedback, I was met with a dismissive attitude. I don't like to write bad reviews, but my experience at Blend Salon was unacceptable. This is my first and last time visiting the establishment. read more

Maybe one of the worst manicures I've ever gotten in my entire life. The lady used an acrylic wand to remove my cuticles and cut so deep into my nails they are now paper thin. I had a pinkie nail that was cracked on top, but still stuck to the nail bed. When I walked in, I felt very unwelcome. I asked the man if he could fix a broken nail and he pointed for me to sit down. When he held my pinkie to have a look at it, the next thing I know...I take a look at my nail and the whole thing was now loose and bleeding. He said something along the lines of I'll put it back together and continued to apply GLUE IN MY BLEEDING NAIL. It made a nasty reaction with my blood. I now need to go to the hospital because I feel dizzy and nauseous. If you don't know what you're doing please say so from the start. All I got after was a "yeah I don't know, go next door". I did not hear an apology or anything. If I walk into your salon, it means I trust you, so you should let me know if you can't do something from the start. The people are super nice and sweet. Love the aurora of the place. However, the work done on my nails was not so great. It's very thick and clumpy. Uneven polish, the lady didn't get the side of my nails. When she filed them "square" they weren't filed right. Also, one of the nails had started peeling within 5 days. I got them done Monday and Friday it was peeling. The rest have been on for a couple of days now. Overall customer service was great. But she needs to work on her application and filling. Firstly was given a completely different price than the sign outside suggested: the male manager / owner who doesn't wear a mask is completely inconsistent with pricing. Second: not hygienic: lots of tools are reused and unwashed. Third: sloppy, got a fill and the result was not nice at all. Nothing done to cuticles and uneven texture. I was in desperate need of a manicure after a pretty intense hiking trip and I was happy to snag a walk in appointment at Blend Salon. It was close to the hotel I was staying and had good reviews. They sold me on a really good no chip mani/ pedi deal. Since they knew I was in a time crunch they even offered to do the mani/pedi at the same time! The experience and price was great but within a few days my nails had started to yellow slightly (I got them painted pink) which I've never experienced before. They didn't chip but it looked as if I had done a bad job putting on a top coat. read more

It was awkward getting a hand massage while facing my manicurist. If I had been laying down on a massage table with my face in the hole, I could have just made the "o face" as waves of pleasure radiated up my arm. But sitting up, staring directly at my sweet, gentle manicurist... the last thing I wanted to do is let my face contort itself into an expression of primal pleasure as she gave me the best hand massage ever. The lady in question was Chau, and she not only gives the best hand massages, she gave me the best manicure I've ever had. Someone else complained about the price, but I think that $15 is a pittance considering that Chau spent almost a full hour soaking, scrubbing, filing, trimming, buffing, steaming, rubbing, and polishing my nails. Chau was meticulous, and her technique with the lacquer was captivating to watch. I had picked out a color with a lot of reflectivity. That kind of polish tends to show streaks. But Chau's work was masterful, and the results were flawless. The staff were all very friendly and kind. It was the opposite of the clichéd experience with manicurists gossiping about you in another language. Everyone was extremely complimentary and I never once felt like my dry skin and enormous hands (pretty!) were being made fun of. This is definitely where I'll be going for manicures from now on. Feeling super guilty about my first 1 star review but it has to be done. I know no one ever reads the long ones, but a week later I'm still so bothered that I have to let it out. I would have been TOLERANT about my experience, except with the terrible customer service and mediocrity of their work, I won't. Made an appointment, and went in with my cousin. Asked for a gel mani and basic pedicure and a simple design/a couple stones but came to the conclusion that they couldn't, but it was too late when we realized this. (Btw, all this is while my cousin and the owner exchange numbers so that my cousin could do henna for the owner's daughter and etc ((to set the tone that we were super friendly after enjoying a beautiful SF day while my cousin visited from LA)). After we all finished up and my nails looked nothing like what I wanted, I felt bad because of the pressure of us being the last people in and I didn't want to complain. She did a painted design on ONE nail that isn't even visible because they don't have anything to work with (isn't painted designs a total must at salons now?), and I ended up paying $100. $100 for a gel mani, with one wack painted design on one finger, a few stones and a BASIC pedicure. And even at that point I didn't care, I got mad when my cousin and I decided we were unhappy with our nails the next day because we could see in actual day light that they did a legitimately bad job. I decided that I will get my ONE nail fixed because if I spent that much for reasons that I'm still trying to figure out, I should be able to get ONE nail fixed. So when we called, she told my cousin yes to her nails but NO to mine. She said that she asked me if I was happy with my nails, and I gave her approval so for that reason alone she wasn't going to. And I told her, we felt the pressure of being her last clients there so we felt really bad because we knew she had to leave to her family. I explained that all I want is one nail fixed and made plain, and she wouldn't budge. I didn't fuss with her, the money wasn't the problem, but their customer service is so cheap and old school mom and pop business style. I'm not even exaggerating when I say I've seen better customer on the streets of 3rd world countries. I let her know I was going to review on yelp and she didn't care at all. Aside from this finger fixing thing, my gel mani was crap too. She didn't sand down the edges of the gel around my cuticles, and I've had to file it down MYSELF because my hair could get caught in it AND it still looks bad, and one of the 3 little stones I had fell out after 5 days. Lol. It's a week later and I don't think I've ever been so bothered by customer service because of my mellow attitude. This all makes me miss my nail lady at home so much. I'm from LA, and living the beach has produced a mellow mindset that I have, but I'm still not over it a week later. I didn't know there was even a such thing as a nail salon who would say no to fixing a client's nail??? I hope the owner actually makes some changes soon because this is the only 1 star review I've ever left.
