I booked this restaurant for a birthday dinner and overall my experience fell short and it's unfortunate because I was looking forward it. The only positive was the food, everyone at the table did enjoy the food. The cons is what made me write this review, it was the service particularly our server/host of the night. I feel if you are spending close to $1k there's a level of service that should come with it. To start, I requested if we could be accommodated at a booth instead not the tables in the entrance, host said they couldn't do that for our party size of 8, which I understood completely at first. But when I went to the bathroom which is in the back of the restaurant, there was a similar group size in the booth area, so that threw me off. Second, we had ordered appetizers, two different salads. When I asked where was the other salad since we only received one, the server said that I didn't order it, I was talking to my friends about the salad not to them, but if I wanted to order it now, they would put the order in. Several people at my table had to process the bizarre response. My demeanor did change completely after that.I got a "bday shot" moments after that incident, it felt like a save face moment. If it wasn't for my friends and honestly placing our food orders I would have left after the appetizers were brought out. I think I would have had a different experience and review with another server. I'm hesitant to give this place another chance. It is a restaurant on the pricier side which is fine, but that means there should be a higher quality of service provided than other less expensive restaurants. read more

The martini was good, you can never go wrong with an espresso martini. The Mac and cheese was just okay, nothing crazy. The filet mignon was good. It was cooked to a perfect mid rare and I liked how they plated the seasonings on the side. This restaurant is very nicely decorated. So I came here on a Memorial Day night. I've been here a few times before but tonight was very loud, almost as if it was a club atmosphere. Besides that the people here are friendly and my waiter was super nice and attentive to us and always came to our table with a huge smile (thank you to you). I had the rib eye steak and as usual it was a nice tasty steak with enough fat on it to make it juicer and hearty. I had it med. Rare so it was super juicy and tender. The Blind Butcher.. Man, this place is a must when visiting San Francisco. Parking can be a little intimidating, but it's worth driving around until you find a spot. The restaurant ambiance is nice -- reddish tones with the lights dimmed a bit, giving it a really good vibe. It gets very busy, so I definitely recommend making a reservation to secure a seat. As for the food... the 16oz prime ribeye steak was $76 and worth every penny. Huge portion and definitely shareable. Wagyu beef burger was alright. I should've read that it was on a ciabatta bun which I don't like especially for a burger. It was quite dry. Because it was just a shmear of the aioli. I finally checked out Blind Butcher after seeing it all over TikTok and hearing so many good things. The ambiance is nice, dim lighting, cozy, and perfect for a night out. I ordered the 16 oz prime ribeye which was cooked well with a nice sear and good seasoning. It was tender and flavorful, and overall a solid steak. I also tried the lobster truffle mac and cheese which was good but didn't stand out as much as I expected. The Caesar salad was actually really great fresh, well-balanced and one of my favorite parts of the meal. The highlight for me was the Butcher's Old Fashioned super well-balanced and easily my favorite thing I had. Service was alright friendly and smooth overall just not especially standout. Overall, I enjoyed my experience. While it didn't completely exceed expectations it's still a beautiful spot with good food and drinks and definitely worth trying for a nice, low-lit date night vibe. read more

I've walked by this place for years and finally recently dined here. From the low quality food to poor service, my overall experience was a complete disappointment! For two people, we ordered the grilled prosciutto burrata, 16oz prime ribeye steak, and brussels sprouts. The grilled prosciutto burrata was disgusting, and we struggled to finish it. The prosciutto tasted like a drier and worse version of a piece of overcooked bacon. The burrata was low quality - dry and lacked flavor. The dish was drenched in dressings that didn't complement the ingredients. The ribeye was cooked alright but lacked flavor (and this is coming from someone who prefers less salty foods). For a restaurant that's supposedly known for steak, I was disappointed because I could've made a better steak myself. The cut of steak was low quality too, and some parts were difficult to chew. I would've expected a more tender piece of steak. The bathroom was a bit of a disaster too. The toilet seat wasn't even nailed into the toilet! I almost fell off while using it. Service was inattentive and bizarre. At the end of the meal, the server asked if we wanted another round of drinks even after we had already kindly asked for the bill twice. I came here this past Saturday right at opening and I have to say I'm very pleased with Blind Butcher. We just walked in, so we didn't get the best seating and got sat at a two person high top. It was a bit squishy and it is very toasty inside, but no complaints. It's cute for a date night or celebration with friends. The staff was so kind and accommodating. The noodles in the stroganoff were perfectly al dente, the meat was tender, and the whole dish was perfectly seasoned. My fiancé saw this restauraunt on tik tok and decided to give it a try! The picture of the blind board speaks for itself. As someone who loves to try a little bit of everything, this was perfect! 2 different types of meat, calamari, perfectly roasted potatoes, lobster mac and mushrooms. We got 2 cocktails, we don't like the taste of alcohol, I got the espresso martini, tasted great at first then the more I drank it the alcohol seeped in more and more so we couldn't finish it. My girlfriend got the pina cola-do, it didn't really taste like pineapple or coconut, tasted more like orange juice with a hint of coconut. The host was nice and let us know it would be a 5-10 mins wait. We got a booth in the back 20 mins later. The restaurant is very loud and dark with dim lighting. There is only 1 bathroom so sometimes there's a wait. We ordered the following: Truffled Lobster Mac and cheese - 2/5 - pasta was Al dente but the lobster meat was as small as the macaroni. It also had a strong taste of cast iron. They also had a tray of salad, hummus, and a very fragrant rice to make for a complete meal. I was so impressed with their operation that I would demand that we utilize them every year. The staff at Blind Butcher are friendly and so hospitable. Wow, I couldn't believe the number of low star ratings... On a whim, we were in the city and decided to finally try Blind Butcher, since it's been on our list for a while. They didn't have anything available online, but I called and was able to snag a table for 5. We started with a bottle of sparkling rosé, oysters, baked goat cheese, wagyu meatballs, lamb lollipops, creamy mushrooms, lobster mac and cheese, and burgers. The two standouts? The burger and the lamb lollipops. The lamb was so good, we ordered a second round. Our least favorite was the lobster mac and cheese. For the price, I was expecting big chunks of lobster and gooey, cheesy richness, but it fell short with small bits of lobster and not enough cheese. The baked goat cheese was fine, but not a standout. Everything else was solid, not mind-blowing, but definitely not bad. For dessert, we had the Coppa 3 Cioccolati. The menu description really didn't do it justice and didn't even mention the hazelnut element. I've been to Blind Butcher a couple times now, and I can say that I'm truly a fan of this spot! The first time we came for a work dinner, so we tried the butcher board which comes with all types of meats and sides. Definitely a solid and easy choice if you have fellow meat lovers to dine with. The second time was for a celebratory dinner with my significant other, and we tried the truffle lobster Mac n cheese, the lamb lollipops, and the short rib. The short rib was tender fall off the bone. The lamb was charred on the outside, juicy on the inside. And the lobster Mac had lobster in almost every bite. I think this is one of the few restaurants where the pricing matches the quality and portion size. Great value here and it's hard not to leave stuffed. We made an online reservation and they accommodated even though we were 15 minutes late. The vibes inside make it perfect for a date night and the service was attentive and gracious. I've finally brought my husband here to try it out. I promised him that it will be worth the try. We called ahead for a table and were seated right away when we got there. I told my husband that I haven't tasted anything bad here and was craving a steak so I wanted to get the rib eye again like I did prior. My husband and I were hungry so we got 5 different sides to try with our steaks. When the food came out, we dug in. You can say my husband was shock, he kept on saying," this is fire." With every bite he took of all the sides. I was happy that he enjoyed the place as much as I do! I love also how the booths look like in the restaurant. I love the bar lounge feel of the restaurant. Good notes: Reservation was very communicative and attentive (thank u 3rd party apps), we were sat in a good spot for a reservation, 2/3 of the food was well made and validated the price excluding 1 item, Ambiance was dark but well lit. Our 'server' soured the whole experience unfortunately. They didn't check in or even ask us how anything was until I had to ask for more water (our meal was pretty much finished). Having to ask for more water while hearing them provide refills and check ins with his other 2 tops validated that he was being selective with his service so there's that. You'd think at a higher end / priced establishment your server would check in once at least when the food comes in but they didn't even feel like doing that. My partner's Espresso Martini was 5/5 while my Zinfandel was just fine. Can't knock a wine choice since it's never really the wines fault when paired slightly off. Food was good except for the Potatoes, ~$1.50 per baby potato with ingredients that are just about the same as home made. The Lobster Mac & Cheese and the Wagyu Burger + Truffle Fries worth the price point since it tasted great. Still tipped 15% cause our food runner / busser boxed up our food for us and the door host that sat us helped feel like it was only our server that was having a bad shift / not in the mood for people that might not have looked like their usual customer base.
