I made a reservation at Blind Butcher for 5:00 p.m. for a Saturday evening. Upon arrival, our party was seated near the entrance even though the restaurant had just opened. It was uncomfortably warm in that area, and we were served lukewarm water, which made for a disappointing first impression. After being seated, it took about 15-20 minutes before our order was taken so it felt like we were maybe forgotten. Since there were seven of us, we decided to order family-style. We ordered the Butcher Board, braised short ribs, Brussels sprouts, truffle Mac and cheese, and the Salmon Provençal after learning they were already out of the branzino. Considering the restaurant had just opened for service, it was surprising that this menu item was unavailable. The food arrived much faster than expected, which initially seemed like a positive. However, after tasting everything, I questioned whether some items had been freshly prepared. The fried calamari on the Butcher Board was cold, and several cuts of meat were cooked closer to rare than the requested medium-rare. The other items were ok and didn't really impress the table. The Salmon Provençal was unfortunately overcooked, leaving the fish dry and dense. It ended up being the least enjoyed dish at the table and was barely touched until the end of the meal. The highlights of the evening were the truffle lobster mac and cheese and the braised short ribs both were well-seasoned, served piping hot, and easily the best dishes we ordered. The service was another disappointment. It was difficult to get a server's attention for water refills, additional orders, or even to request the check. While I appreciated that our waitress comped the birthday dessert, the overall level of attentiveness fell short, especially considering the restaurant appeared to be adequately staffed. Overall, both the food and service left my boyfriend and me disappointed. The only positive was the food, everyone at the table did enjoy the food. The cons is what made me write this review, it was the service particularly our server/host of the night. I feel if you are spending close to $1k there's a level of service that should come with it. To start, I requested if we could be accommodated at a booth instead not the tables in the entrance, host said they couldn't do that for our party size of 8, which I understood completely at first. But when I went to the bathroom which is in the back of the restaurant, there was a similar group size in the booth area, so that threw me off. Second, we had ordered appetizers, two different salads. When I asked where was the other salad since we only received one, the server said that I didn't order it, I was talking to my friends about the salad not to them, but if I wanted to order it now, they would put the order in. Several people at my table had to process the bizarre response. My demeanor did change completely after that.I got a "bday shot" moments after that incident, it felt like a save face moment. If it wasn't for my friends and honestly placing our food orders I would have left after the appetizers were brought out. I think I would have had a different experience and review with another server. I'm hesitant to give this place another chance. So I came here on a Memorial Day night. I've been here a few times before but tonight was very loud, almost as if it was a club atmosphere. Besides that the people here are friendly and my waiter was super nice and attentive to us and always came to our table with a huge smile (thank you to you). I finally checked out Blind Butcher after seeing it all over TikTok and hearing so many good things. The ambiance is nice, dim lighting, cozy, and perfect for a night out. I ordered the 16 oz prime ribeye which was cooked well with a nice sear and good seasoning. It was tender and flavorful, and overall a solid steak. I also tried the lobster truffle mac and cheese which was good but didn't stand out as much as I expected. The Caesar salad was actually really great fresh, well-balanced and one of my favorite parts of the meal. The highlight for me was the Butcher's Old Fashioned super well-balanced and easily my favorite thing I had. Service was alright friendly and smooth overall just not especially standout. I've walked by this place for years and finally recently dined here. From the low quality food to poor service, my overall experience was a complete disappointment! For two people, we ordered the grilled prosciutto burrata, 16oz prime ribeye steak, and brussels sprouts. The grilled prosciutto burrata was disgusting, and we struggled to finish it. The prosciutto tasted like a drier and worse version of a piece of overcooked bacon. The burrata was low quality - dry and lacked flavor. The dish was drenched in dressings that didn't complement the ingredients. The ribeye was cooked alright but lacked flavor (and this is coming from someone who prefers less salty foods). For a restaurant that's supposedly known for steak, I was disappointed because I could've made a better steak myself. The cut of steak was low quality too, and some parts were difficult to chew. I would've expected a more tender piece of steak. The bathroom was a bit of a disaster too. The toilet seat wasn't even nailed into the toilet! I almost fell off while using it. Service was inattentive and bizarre. At the end of the meal, the server asked if we wanted another round of drinks even after we had already kindly asked for the bill twice. My girlfriend got the pina cola-do, it didn't really taste like pineapple or coconut, tasted more like orange juice with a hint of coconut. I was excited to try this place out. The staff and ambience were great. We were greeted as we arrived by our very sweet waitress. The ambience was cool and moody which I loved. After that everything began to go downhill. We ordered the oysters which did not taste fresh, with a sauce that did not improve their flavor at all. The olives weren't anything special and the meatballs were overly seasoned with herbs and a little dry. My friend and I both had the filet; the meat seemed to be fairly high quality. We asked for medium rare but both came out blood rare. The meat was good so we ate them anyway; they had a nice sauce. We shared a bottle of Montepulciano that was subpar. The meal was $250 so it was disappointing that our dinner plates kept sliding across the glass tabletop. We solved this by resting our plates on top of the paper napkins.
