First we ordered the special clams dish. The clams were chewy and fishy tasting. We sent them back and they comped that portion of the meal. Next were our entrees. I got the sea bass dish with veggies. The sea bass was good but the vegetables were extremely bland. The veggies tasted like something you would get in the frozen food aisle doused with a ton of butter. My fiancé got the scallops dish. I think this place is slightly underrated - not sure why. Got a nice seat at the bar, service was great, the food came out fast, and it was delicious. We had the asian wings and the rigatoni bolognese. Both were VERY good. It seems there are a lot of 'regulars' that dine there, everyone was known by the bartender/owner. The menu is pretty limited unfortunately, but it seems as if it is that way so they can focus on making the dishes perfect. The food was delicious don't get me wrong. Not as expensive as cheesecake but definitely the same quality! Interior was adorable and I loved the atmosphere. The only turn off was that we were a group of 8 diners and the waitress totally messed up the checks and how we wanted to split them. Ate here tonight and wasn't sure what to expect. Well let me tell you... AMAZING!! To start, they give you homemade bread and a garlic hummus and it was so tasty!! First time to Bliss, so glad I went. The dining room is small, so a reservation is needed. My wife ordered a salad that she loved and I had the lentil soup that was good. My wife and I enjoy going to Bliss about once or twice a month. The food is always consistently fresh and delicious, and the owner , Ron always makes us feel right at home! I've dined at Bliss on 3 occasions. The first time was great; the second good; and the most recent just ok. Generally the food is good and the service is quick and polite. It's not terribly expensive, just slightly on the higher priced side. I've found that fish is their strong suits and they've had some appealing specials when I've gone. All in all worth a try. I have been a frequent visitor to Setauket and always a bit disappointed about the quality of the restaurants in the area. Bliss is truly a standout for the area, but would rank well in any location. My wife and I spent 10 days in Setauket in connection with the death of a family member. We discovered Bliss on a Sunday evening and then dined with Ron and his team for six straight nights, including other family members along the way. We enjoyed the food, wine and fellowship enormously. The atmosphere is very similar to an Italian or French family restaurant where the owner is host, bartender, waiter and whatever is required, including encourager and comforter in times of trouble. One of our favorite dishes is the macaroni in bolognese. It's very tasty and not your typical bolognese sauce. And a very generous portion. Also recommend the fish dishes. Very favorable and fresh. Went to this place today. Passed a million times always stating we should go there. Had a living social coupon. Been to the other in blue point and it was good. This location was amazing. Granted it was a friday we got a table in the middle of the room in about 10 minutes. The place is set up like a traincar. Small but workable. The hostess was very buce and so was out waiter. There was a girl and guy cover band there. So the atmos was really nice. Low lighting but nice. I got the snapper with cous cous and ny fiance got the pork shank. Both melted in our mouths and were very good. I had the creme brulee moose dessert. Very good. He had the cheesecake. Which he said even for the small portion was enough to finish the night. Came here with my Mother and Father. As much as I would like to give this place 0 stars they make you give at least 1. The appetizers are tiny and while decent they are Beyond over priced. We made a reservation for 8:15pm and arrived 5 min early. We walked in to the restaurant to be greeted by nobody. Finally, one of the bartenders approaches us, we inform him that we have a reservation and he shows us where to wait. Another bartender approaches us to take our drink orders, then returns 10 min later to ask if we're ready to order. We inform her that we're actually still waiting for our table, she goes to clarify with bartender #1. 45 minutes after our intended reservation time, we are finally seated to a table without menus and water. We sat there for about another 10 minutes before our waitress arrives and tells us she will get us menus, which mysteriously took a while to retrieve... I almost wanted to walk out at this point and the only thing that stopped me was the fact that we had already paid for the Living Social deal for this restaurant. I was stuck. Food: I got the hot pot from the fondue selections and it was really bad. However, most of the food in the restaurant smelled delicious and my husband's duck was good. After passing Bliss on Rte. 25A in East Setauket by, hundreds of times, I finally made it there. I am very glad that I did. I can only review the bar menu, as that is where the group that I was with settled. I was there on what turned out to be Taco Tuesday, where you get 2 delicious and decently proportioned short rib beef tacos for just $5.00!! They were great and very filling. Others in my group ordered burgers and fries, and they were equally pleased by their choice. I love how the fries arrived in mini-fry baskets. It was a nice touch. I was also there during Happy Hour. Well drinks, wine,and certain beer are half price. There are a lot of beer brands from which to choose. The bartender was very friendly and helpful, recommending a very lovely Sauvignon Blanc for me to try. It was clean and fresh and I believe the brand was Ferrante or something quite similar. Bliss is small, yet tastefully decorated, which really adds to its ambiance. I did visit there during the holidays, but I think the lighting is that way all year long. The restroom is a private unisex setup, and is pristine. The hot water in the restroom is very hot, so beware when you wash up! I plan on returning to Bliss the next time I am in the area. read more

Not sure where to have dinner on Mother's Day so we resorted to Savored.com looking to make a quick reservation and save some money. We were delighted when we noted Bliss had seating availability and a 20% off coupon. The restaurant was small but cozy, drink specials listed on blackboard so you needed a great memory or needed to run back up to the bar after being seated. Same for burger selection written on a different blackboard.... What the hell is this cross fitness training? Up again to read the board. We decided on drinks (excellent) St. Germaine was a great treat, the cream of spinach soup, also fantastic and a salad with mandarin pieces and tempura zucchini. We requested the salad be plated in two dishes (they forgot) and made no effort to rectify. My daughter ordered a burger only to be told that's a bar item and could not be served in the main dining room. What! That's ridiculous, are hamburgers not French enough for this local establishment? It should be about your customers wants and wishes that brings loyalty. I ordered the short ribs, honestly they were ok.... Definitely fattier than I've had elsewhere, my daughters burger lacked flavor yet the Parmesan fries were the best I've had. My husband ordered the fettuccini with braised pork special and that was ok. Dessert was a vanilla bean cheesecake (very small) and a wonderful large American coffee. I couldn't believe the waitress forgot to use the Savored discount( 1st time that has happened). Discussion over your check is a turnoff too me...after all you make the coupons available for the public, inform your wait staff. This review was difficult to write as my experience wasn't consistent, having the owner on site, walking around was nice, the servers did not have the French flair that this restaurant was trying to achieve. It might work if the hummus was lemony with a hint of garlic; no, this was a very pronounced basil pesto hummus. How does that pair with your before-dinner glass of wine? Not. One star deduction for the poor decor (Bliss tries to be a sports bar and an elegant dining establishment at once and does not succeed). Second star deduction for the disparity between the price of the food and the quality of the food. The red snapper we ordered was watery and under-seasoned, the flavors were not dynamic and the complimentary homemade hummus was missing sesame (hummus without sesame is like cake with no sugar), which makes hummus just plain ol' bean dip. The vegetarian dish, plain noodles with a fairly elegant tomato sauce, was quite good, BUT it was the ONLY vegetarian entree offered, and only on the specials menu. So, the third star deduction is for the lack of vegetarian options. We were offered the opportunity of requesting a custom vegetarian dish from the kitchen, but one goes to a restaurant to sample the creative fare of the chef, not to act the part of one. read more
