It was passing through Nebraska to decided to spend a night in Omaha and check out the city. Aside from the beautiful scenery, Block 16 surprised me quite a bit! They have VERY interesting items and combinations on their menu. I ordered their vegetarian poutine burrito! It was made with vegetarian meat, gyro-texture, mac n' cheese, and a very juicy sauce! It was a lot of food, and I enjoyed every bite of that burrito! One very cool thing about most of their menu items is that you can get pretty much and item as vegetarian! They don't just remove the meant; they actually add vegetarian meant instead! I really think other restaurants should start doing that. I must warn you it's very casual place, and it can get pretty loud! But the overall vibe is pretty cool and fun! read more

Finally got to check this place out after hearing so much positive feedback about it. Got the Croque Garçon Burger and the Duck Duck Goose Fries with extra gooseberry sauce on the side. The Croque Garçon is definitely worth the trip. It was well cooked and seasoned, still juice and tender. The cheese was nicely melted and blended into the burger and ham. The sauces all worked really nicely together and made this one memorable burger. The Duck Duck Goose Fries were really good as well. The fries themselves aren't amazing, but with the toppings they're great. It's topped with duck skin, duck confit, duck-fat mayo, gooseberry sauce, and cheese. Probably more calories than you need in a week, but it's worth it. For two burgers and one side of specialty fries, the bill came out to about $25. I heard great things about this place! Stayed at Magnolia downtown and block 16 was within walking distance. You order at the counter and then find seating - since they're good, it's often pretty busy so be ready to get comfortable with other people. I ordered the standard block burger and rangoon fries. The rangoon fries were super interesting, I think they were a little heavy to go along with a burger, but they were good! The burger is a bit smaller, but man, it was phenomenal. Ahhh, good old Block 16. What can I say about Block 16? It's AMAZING!! One of the main things that attracts me to Block 16 is their daily specials. They list a special for every day on their Facebook and their Twitter accounts. Every special I see and have tried, is creative, unique and delicious. Block 16 is a small place located at the 16th block. They have a normal menu as well as their daily specials, as I mentioned earlier. I've tried their sandwiches, duck, and their specials and every single one is amazing. However, their burger is just a burger to me. For a burger to be amazing, it has to WOW me, and I rarely see that. They use local ingredients when they can and they cook everything to order. The prices are a tad high but its one of the only places to me, where I don't pay attention to the price and I get what I want, which is usually their daily special. Our first time here and at 6:30 in the evening ok a Saturday night to be told our food will be ready in 15-20 minutes was a pleasant thing to hear I really really wanted to give Block 16 a 5 star review, but couldn't bring myself to do just that. The Good: Our order was ready on time in great packaging that is eco friendly and smelled so very delicious!!! When taking our order the person was nice and explained what is on their burgers which is helpful. The Bad: It was very hard to understand them as the background noise was extremely loud! When I mentioned that to her she said yes I know it is always loud here and our phones are not good. For a first class, nationwide known burger place this should have been corrected a Long time ago. The Nash Fries, although extremely delicious, had a shell noodle Mac and cheese kind of thing on them that was very blah and to put it in my wife's words "has a lot to be desired". The Ugly Truth: Overall our food was absolutely amazing and we found a new favorite place for burgers!!! The 3 Happiness Burger with side sauces was an explosion of flavors in our mouths and is a definite staple in our burger selection from now on, the Crab Rangoon Fries that we ordered with it had a combination of foods I would never have put in the same dish but it was a total winner as well and surprised us with it's subtle change in flavors with every bite. Yep you guessed it also a must have! The Poutine Burrito was our second selection of the menu and came in second favorite to the 3 Happinesses Burger. It definitely was delicious and that says a lot coming from me who is a total nay-sayer to potatoes, however they fit into the burritos flavor very well! Last here are the Nash Fries which with extra Sauce we're also very good just the Mac and cheese stuff was, as I mentioned above, very blah. Though the combination with the fries, melted and lightly burnt cheese and scallions was a winner all together. They offered us plastic ware and napkins to take along which we gladly accepted as we drive to the Bob Kerry Bridge to have a peaceful river view to enjoy our meal. To sum it up if you can get over the rough phone ordering process you will enjoy a very delicious meal. As well as being disappointed that the spicy a** rodeo burger that was said to be the special for the day is infact only a lunch special, hoping to try that next time. I went into Block 16 for lunch on a Friday. The line was out the door, but moved pretty quickly .... we timed it and it was 28 minutes from when we got in line to when our food was brought out. At this restaurant you order at the counter, pay, choose a seat, and they bring out your food. We ordered the duck fun fries, 2 of the Block Burgers, and a few sides of fries. We also tried the truffle mayo and the dragon sauce. Everything we had was yummy but messy. It's greasy, fatty food that leaves you feeling full. Edit: of course got a nasty message from the pathetic owner. ANYWAYS I heard a lot of talk about Block 16. Here's my first experience. They need a better sign, I've driven by so many times and never noticed it until I put it in my maps. It was really hard to find. Asked for cutlery and napkins which weren't there. I don't care but you will need them for the loaded fries. I also had to call 3 times to place my order because the phone kept going straight to voicemail. Was then put on hold several other times for a small order. They need better planning, they only let people pick up food in 30 minute intervals instead of when it's actually done. I think the food is at BEST mediocre. It's good for photos, but the flavor wasn't all there for me. I ordered the block burger with no mustard and no tomato and the nash fries. The burger.. let's just say the lettuce was the best part. The meat was mediocre-poor. i guess fine for $6.50. The nash fries were cold and not good. Very underwhelming. The staff I dealt with was amazing and friendly. However.. I've seen the owner going around throwing a fit regarding people leaving negative reviews which makes me not really wanna come back. One of the best restaurants in Omaha, in my opinion. This is clearly reflected with almost a 5 star average review and close to 1000 reviews on Yelp. This is a great restaurant choice if you're having a hard time deciding what to get to eat amongst a group- there's so many options that fit multiple tastes. One of my favorite items I get quite frequently is the poutine burrito. This burrito is packed with flavor. The steak is tender and there's also bites of curds and tots which add a unique twist to the burrito. Another great item on their menu is the red knight. It's a fried chicken sandwich mixed with hot sauce and Mac and cheese. The chicken is super tender. You can't go wrong with any menu choice at this establishment. read more

Block 16 is the restaurant that I crave the most in Omaha. This is the place to eat the burger of your dreams or a sandwich with a unique and tasty twist. I am not usually the veggie burger type of gal but the block veggie burger has my heart. To pair with anything you need to try ALL the fries. The sweet potato fries and regular fries are a good addition but the elote speciality fries are my favorite on the menu. This is a great place to order take out because the space is smaller so at peak times it can be difficult to get a table. WOW this was incredible. My girlfriend and I were driving cross country and heard from my brother that this is the spot to check out in Omaha. We called it in ahead of time and food was ready when we got there. Staff was very friendly and gave great customer service. We both ordered the Croque Garcon Burger consisting of: burger, cheese, ham, egg, mustard and truffle oil on a ciabatta roll. This was as good of a burger as I've had for under 10 dollars. The Truffle Oil complimented the burger so well as did the runny egg as the yolk broke. We also got an order of fries to share which were just ok, but the fry sauce they had was legit. My first time to Block 16 was for a macaroni & cheese pop up. I was definitely not prepared for the masses that flocked there that evening nor the wait (an hour to place our order and an hour waiting for our food). Still, I was impressed by the creativity shown in the ingredients. I selected the vegetarian version of the Fancy Mac, which simply removed the ox tail. It was delicious, although quite rich. I was only able to eat half of my meal, which was fine as it provided for left overs the next day. I found the onion rings to be wonderful with the white cheddar mac. I may do something similar at home! I would probably not attend such a popular pop up again (or at least get there much earlier), but I will definitely be back. The staff is very friendly and works very hard, the food is delicious and very well priced compared to others in the area - actually B16 is cheaper then some other popular burger restaurants near by and they use much higher quality ingredients. This is the type of place you shouldn't even need to read reviews. Any review that is negative is a salty person that didn't realize the popularity and probably waited 90 minutes for there food. My 1 advice is call in and know what you want because once they are open you'll probably be waiting --- In the past they will get so busy within 15 minutes of being open no online or phone orders will be processed. read more

My boyfriend and I got the special grilled cheese and shared the crab Rangoon fries. My friend got the Sloppy Nick. The grilled cheese was deliciously gooey. I have never had a grilled cheese with a jam on it, this one came with a corn jam which made it extra gooey! The crab Rangoon fries were unique. My boyfriend loved them. I went in with really high expectations, it was good but I personally was a little disappointed. I ordered a Block Burger, a classic burger, the meat was cooked to my liking but it was just so oily. The bottom half of the burger bun was wet with oil. I'm not a huge fan of greasy greasy burgers like this. But aside from the burger / bun I enjoyed everything else. The gangsta fries were really really good, the Chipotle drizzle was delicious. And the sweet potato fries were also really good!! Heard about this place a long time ago, I finally have a chance to try it. First thing is the sign/banner were covered so it was a little bit hard to find it at first. We went here on a weekday, the line is very long, but the order was fast and the wait is only about 15 minutes. This place they just get it expand so the place is bigger and have more seats. The Croque Gardon Burger is fantastic. There was patty, poached egg(?), ham, and the special sauce. It was pretty big for one person, I ended up leaving the bread behind.
