For some reason on yelp it showed up as a vegetarian restaurant, but its not. However, they do offer many vegetarian options and their whole menu uses organic ingredients, which is always a plus! The atmosphere is nice, casual & clean, the staff is friendly, and nearly everything on the menu tastes great! My husband and I found this place three years ago when we moved back to LA and we love it. It had some funky reviews to start with, but I think for the most party they've ironed things out. The food is always fabulous and fresh. For something light, I usually get the Seared Citrus Salmon Salad... I don't know what they do to that salmon, but it's the bomb! I also love their hamburger and FRIES! But honestly, I've never had a bad meal here. Unsurprising that the reviews are mostly raves or pans. This place is REALLY unpredictable. No complaints about the food which is dependably excellent (though some menu items are a bit pricy), but the service is more erratic than any place I can think of. I've gotten distracted, inept service when eating in and I've gotten attentive, friendly service. I've had my food delivered in 20 minutes or I've had it take almost an hour and had the staff be snippy and rude about it on top of it. I've had complicated orders perfect down to the last detail, I've had very basic things forgotten. Bottom line is, don't assume, whichever experience you have, that it'll be similar next time. Probably worth it on balance, but just know that you never know. Oh, and don't order fries for delivery. They arrive cold without fail. read more

We get delivery here at least once a week. It's just so, so good. The grass fed burger with the green aoli and the side salad with that incredible basil vinaigrette is the thing I dream about when I want a burger. The food is ALWAYS really good, perfect portions, and the service is always excellent! I live in the neighborhood and have been going there now for 3 years. They have always been really friendly and accommodating. It's hard to pick out what to eat sometimes because everything I have tried is good. My favorites are the turkey sandwich, salmon bowl, green goddess salad, tandoori bowl and burger... And their juices are all pressed when you order. I found Bloom on accident- being new to the area. I am all for organic diners with vegan menus so we gave it a try. We called in a delivery order, but we literally loved one street over from their delivery radius and they wouldn't deliver. Bummer. So, we came for take out and grabbed our food. The pizza and two wraps came to nearly $40, which is alright for the freshness and quality. Sadly, the food was a tad bit cold as it probably sat a little while while being waited to be picked up. We love this place. The atmosphere was trendy, the staff was very nice and the food was excellent! We had a small starter of the most delicious olive tapenade and pita. Buttery and light, this was an immediate favorite. For dinner, I had the special, Seared Scallops and Veggie Risotto... Yum! The scallops were perfectly seared, the risotto creamy, yet textured with crisp, uniformed cuts of carrot, squash, and onion. The flavors were layered and complimented each other very well. He had the beef burger which he says was also excellent. He ordered it medium and it came to the table medium. The side of homemade "hot sauce" was so well prepared, I wanted to take the bottle home! While they didn't sell the olive tapenade, our nice waiter sent me home with a small taste. :) The prices were really fair for the quality of what we ordered. We have lived in the area for over a year and Bloom has been on my list to try - but the reviews were always mixed, so I had been putting it off. Well - we finally popped in for dinner last week and were SO impressed! The atmosphere, food, and service were totally 5-stars! The hubby had the lamb burger and I had the salmon bowl (at the suggestion of our waitress) and holy god - the salmon bowl seriously blew my mind and my hubs was way happy w/ his as well. And we shared one of the smoothies for dessert and this was also TOPS. An added bonus for me was that my iced tea cup was NEVER empty! I am the thirstiest person alive and was very pleased to always have a full cup. The slightest smallest negative comment I have is that it was a bit chilly inside. But that could have easily been me and my 100 cups of iced tea - ha ha. We took a look at the breakfast menu and it's full of yummy items. We cannot wait to come back to try more off their menu (although - to be honest, it will be difficult to do something other than the salmon bowl). And if all of what I have already written doesn't sell you - they offer BYOB with NO corkage! It doesn't get better than that in my book. I so wanted to love this place. Instead, I had the worst service in my life. I live right around the corner from Bloom and had heard that the food was good, but that the service was slow. Anyways, I went here on Sunday afternoon with my mom. I ordered a brie sandwich and she ordered a well done burger. Our food arrived 30 minutes later (there were less than 10 other people at the restaurant). My sandwich was good, but my fries were cold. My mom's burger was medium rare, and it came with nothing on it or on the side. When she asked for mayo., they said they didn't have any and offered some aioli (which was supposed to come with the burger). We asked for some aioli and water and waited 10 minutes. After we got tired of waiting, my mom went to the counter where she was ignored by the wait staff. So she returned to the table. I flagged down the waiter and asked him about the aioli and informed him that the burger was undercooked. He then proceeded to tell me that the kitchen was busy and didn't bother to apologize about the burger or his forgetting to get the aioli. When I told him that our burger was cold from the wait, he continued to blame the kitchen, and gave us a "I really don't give a sH*T look". Ten minutes later, we finally got the aioli. Let me also mention that their green salad had no dressing and looked like it came straight out of the bag. I told my mom to return the burger, but she didn't want to seem confrontational and just took it home for her dog. Anyways, twenty minutes later, I had to flag down the bus boy to get our check. The waiter basically flung the bill on our table and took ten more minutes to pick up our check (let me remind you that this was not a busy time at the restaurant - 6pm on a Sunday night). I loved Posh and Sierra Bonita and really liked the idea of having a place that I could walk to for a nice meal, but I just can't overlook the service or lack of that I had. read more

I had heard wonderful things about Bloom and was eager to try it...unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed...I did NOT have to wait long for service, however. It was prompt and cheerful. The spicy chicken salad was SOOOOOOO spicy my mouth and lips were on fire and I couldn't taste anything else on the plate. The grilled bits of corn looked as though they might have been tasty, but I can't be sure...the entire salad was soaked in red chili oil. I'm a lover of jalapenos and serranos, but this was quite a bit spicier than your basic spicy. I asked our waiter if they had any sorbet (to cool me off after that salad), but he didn't know....he returned, said they did, but by then I had to run back to the office....I decided to go into the counter/walk up side of the place and asked the server for sorbet....she wasn't sure what they had...then she found some...I asked if I could take some to go...she said "maybe" there was something she could put it in...oh, never mind...it was all becoming to difficult and uncertain...I left. Strangely, I WILL try it again, and hope for a tastier lunch and a more knowledgable staff...they were all very nice, and my friends HAVE had good food there... read more

Bloom has been a wonderful addition to our neighborhood. The salmon bowl is an inventive mix of flavors and the proscuitto arugula pizza is crisp and filing. Service occasionally is slow but the waitstaff is really lovely and accomodating overall. The bench seating isn't that comfortable and parking is often frustrating since the meters tend not to work, but overall the food is fresh and the atmosphere is a pleasure. read more

I tried to give this cafe one more chance after my first attempt where I was waited on by a man who was clearly an aspiring actor and this was his part-time job and he looked miserable. I've been to Bloom Cafe twice at this point. The first time, the waitress was trying to get off of her shift, and she asked me to hurry up and pay. Not a dealbreaker, but that's never an awesome experience for any customer, let alone a first time customer. Today, I came by for the second time. I ordered the Chicken & Apple salad. What a disappointment. The salad was brought to me covered in feta. I swear there was more feta on this salad than lettuce. There was definitely more feta on the salad than chicken. In fact, I thought perhaps the point of dumping an entire container of feta was to mask the fact that they had run out of chicken. (Maybe that's why the chicken was diced so small and mixed in with the feta.) I thought maybe the feta was just on the top layer, but after further inspection, there were layers and layers of feta. It was ridiculous and completely defeated the purpose of trying to eat healthy. I hate to waste food so I tried to eat around the feta, which was IMPOSSIBLE. I probably would have sent the salad back IF the waitress had ever come back by my table and asked me if I was enjoying my salad. (She was the same waitress as before, and as it appears, the only waitress working?) But it took her 20 minutes to make her way back over to my table to ask. I told her that the salad had a ridiculous amount of cheese, to which she responded, "Yeah, it looks like they over did it. Next time, we will just ask for the cheese on the side." This means that she also noticed that there was too much cheese on the salad. (Of course, the cooks realized this too.) But nobody thought to do any quality control before bring it to me. It was disappointing to pay $15 for a salad, most of which was a pile of feta, with very little chicken, and below par customer service. I won't be going back. There are too many places in this city that know how to make a salad. read more
