Back for brunch and they're extremely busy on weekend. It took awhile for the orders to come our but they've been very apologetic about it so appreciate the kind gesture. We initially wanna sit at the back patio, but it's tad humid so we stayed indoor instead LOL. We got their Pickford Breakfast Sando with the applewood sausages on the side. Presentation was very well-thought and the sando itself tasted peculiar in great way! Also seemed healthy featuring fresh veggies. Grilled cheese on the bun was certainly a plus that we were fond of. We initially wanna try the turkey bacon but they're unfortunately out so we went for the applewood sausage. Good enough as a side option!

We came here for brunch on a Sunday because we were recommended this place. Food: 4/5 We got the burger, a waffle, fish tacos, and some other items I forgot to take pictures of. The burger was a turkey burger. It was not bad but the meat was a little dry. The fish tacos were a little too fishy for my liking. The best thing was their fries. Ambiance: 5/5 This place had a really cute art studio/lounge kind of vibe. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. And from the looks of their social media, it looks like they also offer paint nights. Service: 4/5 This place was a seat yourself service. The tables weren't the most clean. Overall, it was a decent experience but LA is saturated with so many of these hipsters joints that I would prefer to try other places.

I was surprised by how spacious this place was. I never would have guessed it from looking at it from the street. Inside, it feels open and airy, with a large dining room and a patio area. After we sat down, I noticed signs limiting computer use during the day and not allowing it on weekends. I could easily see myself coming here for something to eat and then hanging out for a while to get some work done. Overall, the place had a very relaxed vibe. The people working there were genuinely friendly. We arrived just before 5:00, and when I ordered a beer, the server told me it was still happy hour and asked whether I wanted two for the price of one. By the time he tried to enter it, the clock had struck five and the option was no longer available. We both got a good laugh out of it. A band was setting up while we waited for our food. Both of us were surprised when the biscuit fried chicken sandwich arrived--it was huge! I wasn't all that hungry, so I ordered the flatbread. It was good, and the portion was not overly large, which was exactly what I wanted. I am glad I stopped by this spot, and I will definitely be back.

Loved this spot for brunch! Really cute decor inside the cafe and especially in the outdoor patio where we chose to sit after ordering at the counter (they bring the food/drinks to your table). Had the omelette with kale and tomatoes, the crispy hash brown squares it came with were definitely the highlight of the meal. Also got the shaken matcha latte which was pretty average.

Great local cafe with some of the hardest working staff in SoCal. I happened to be nearby and saw something online advertising their Salsa Night event. Apparently, half of LA got the same notice because by the time I arrived, it was PACKED! I grabbed one of the last stools in front of the coffee bar, and was later able to grab a corner table so I could order food. Definitely get here early if you want a table. The live band was fantastic! They played a lot of salsa classics, including some of my favorites. There was lots of dancing in the aisles and singing along. Such a great vibe. I also loved the decor, especially the collage on the main wall: A bright and beautiful homage to the City of Angels. The staff did their absolute best to deliver food and drinks, bus tables, and otherwise navigate the throngs of dancing patrons and I commend them for their agility. Onto the food and drink. There were so many delicious options to choose from and after an impossibly long time deliberating (and dancing), I decided on the salmon caesar salad. Fresh, flavorful and delicious. I enjoyed every bite. The strawberry lemonade was ok. Not worth what I paid for it. I expected something fresher and more flavorful... What I got was bland and watered down. I was planning to order dessert, but that salad was much more filling than I anticipated. Parking around here is kind of tight so plan ahead and consider taking a ride sharing service. I managed to snag one of the last parking spaces in the nearby residential area. Not sure I would have been so lucky if I had arrived a few minutes later. All told, this was a great place to spend a Saturday night. Will definitely check this place out again the next time I'm in LA.

Wow, what a hidden gem Re/creation Cafe is, and I am so glad I found it. Okay, maybe it is not totally hidden, but I definitely haven't read any reviews or heard anyone talking about this place. I usually find coffee house cafe experiences to be pretty inconsistent; either the drinks are average, the food is average, or it is just not a great spot to hang out. But this place impresses me with just about everything. The open cafe space connects directly to a wonderfully decorated backyard with beautiful seating, and it is easily the best setup I have seen in Los Angeles. It is literally a different world once you step inside. Of course, the patio is the perfect spot to bring your dog to enjoy a bit of sun. The waitress suggested I try one of their international lattes, and it did not disappoint, and I am a picky latte drinker. As for the food, the chicken biscuit sandwich in their lunch menu is a must-try. It is a huge portion with detailed plating, and you definitely need to add their sweet potato fries. The breakfast sausage is wonderful as well. You can taste the freshness, and it is cooked to perfection. I would add a bit more salt, but that is just my personal preference. Overall, this is a must-try breakfast and brunch spot. The quiet, relaxed setting truly sets this place apart.

Both burgers were great but the stars of the show were the fries. I'd give the regular a 10/10 and the sweet potato a 1000/10 Artsy vibes, great food, & easy street parking nearby. Can't get better!

Food was delicious! Service was great, the man that brought our drinks to the table was very friendly and the lady at the register as well. The ambiance is very chill and cozy. Place is very clean. I love the outdoor patio they have and their big mural that's by the stage. Price was a bit higher than I'm use to paying at other places for brunch, yet totally worth it. We went there today (Wednesday) and were lucky to find street parking right in front of the place. Definitely r

Stopped by for brunch and overall it's a solid spot, especially for the vibe. The space is spacious and very communal, with both indoor seating and a unique outdoor patio. Didn't realize they also host events and have a small stage for performances, which is a nice touch. You can order at the counter or scan a QR code at the table for mobile ordering. I got the Pickford breakfast Sando, decent size and good overall. I also tried the Shaken Iced Matcha Latte, and as someone who loves matcha, this one wasn't it, tasted more like milk. My friend enjoyed the Cornbread Chicken & Waffles, but her smoothie was just okay, maybe we missed on the drinks. Food is decent, but the ambiance is really what stands out. Service was good. Street parking can be a hit or miss, but there are side streets if you can't find something on Washington.

I've lived in this neighborhood for years now but only today took the half mile walk to check out this place for lunch with my dog (que cliche I know). The place is welcoming with a menu for everyone. Doesn't matter if you are coming in for cafe and a snack or a whole meal or a drink. I ordered at the counter but you can also order via QR code right from the tables. I went simple for my first meal here, a grilled cheese with fries and a glass of wine. Sat in the back patio where there were people reading, friends and couples having lunch - really a cute lovely vibe with flowering trees. The food was great and I can't wait to make this part of my regular rotation and also check out some of the events they have.

**GREAT COMMUNAL SPACE, OK FOOD** I've had this café bookmarked for a while and finally made it in. Overall, it lands at about 3.5 stars, rounding up to 4. PARKING Street parking for us. Easy enough on quieter days, but it can get hectic on weekends or during events. AMBIANCE Lofty, open, and airy with a really nice back patio. Easily one of the better-designed communal spaces in Mid-City. Welcoming, lively, and well-suited for hanging out, working, or attending events. FOOD CRENSHAW COWBOY FRIED CHICKEN - $20 Fried chicken with jalapeño honey, garlic aioli, lettuce, and pickled jalapeños on a buttermilk biscuit. The idea is solid, but the execution didn't quite live up to the description. The chicken lacked the heat and distinct buttermilk flavor I was expecting. It's fine, just underwhelming for a $20 plate, especially since fries and other sides are extra. Rating: 3/5 SERVICE We greeted the bartender and staff, but as first-time visitors, we weren't informed that ordering happens at the counter before seating. After sitting for about 15 minutes, we figured it out and went up ourselves. Water is self-serve. Once ordered, the food came out fairly quickly. OVERALL The space is really the highlight here. I might return for drinks, the patio, or future events, but the fried chicken sandwich alone wouldn't bring me back.

I came to Recreation Cafe in Mid-City with a group of five and had such a pleasant experience overall. I immediately loved the beautiful, airy ambiance and how bright and welcoming the space felt. I noticed right away how friendly and attentive the staff was, and I really appreciated how quickly they cleaned and set up a table for our group. I liked the easy access to water, which always feels like a thoughtful touch. I ordered the Mediterranean salmon dish and loved how balanced and fresh the flavors were, with a satisfying portion size. I also tried the chicken tenders, which were delicious, along with French fries that were perfectly seasoned and had great texture. Our smoothies were refreshing and tasty. The only small miss for me was the cornbread waffle and chicken, which leaned a bit dry. I appreciated that all our food came out at the same time, ordering was easy with tons of options, and parking wasn't terrible. I would happily return for brunch with friends and explore more of the menu soon.

Such a cute place - good vibe - staff is super friendly and accommodating. Lots of seating indoors and on the back patio. Cute community restaurant & seems to host a lot of events. I wanted to try everything because the menu looked so scrumptious - from the food to the drinks! I can't eat eggs anymore (BOO), so anything I ordered would have had the egg removed. Ordered the gingerberry rush smoothie and was delish - it has a lot of ginger which I like. I would have ordered the matcha more but I had just finished the matcha I made myself at home. I ordered the breakfast sandwich which was made with these incredible biscuits and I added more chicken sausage (since I didn't have the egg). The sausage is not to be missed! My sister ordered the omelette - the home Made has brows are FIRE! Will def be back when I'm in Los Angeles.

This was one of the closer coffee spot with good reviews that I found near the kbbq place (Seogwan by Yellow Cow Kbbq) my family and I ate at for lunch. It was about 0.5miles (3 mins drive). The coffee shop is super large, bright, and has nice background music. There are plenty of seats for people to hang out or study. There are also street parking but can be difficult to cross the street due to cars driving by so quickly without a pedestrian crosswalk on one side. I ordered their signature drink which was the orange espresso tonic with one extra shot for my husband, and the double mango matcha for myself. Both of us really enjoyed the drinks, especially the orange espresso tonic. It was refreshing, clean, and easy to drink. Normally, they include double shots of espresso, which may have tasted stronger for me since my husband wanted three shots, and I usually stick with two shots. The double mango matcha uses fresh fruit syrup so the mango flavor was not too strong and my drink was very creamy due to the signature mango cream on top. Usually, I would enjoy a creamy matcha but it made me more thirsty on a hot day. The service took a bit of time since they had to mix my matcha the legit way with the bamboo whisk. The matcha tasted like premium, ceremonial matcha since it was stronger and authentic in taste. Overall, both drinks were enjoyable but if I had to choose one, I would go with the orange espresso tonic even though I love mango matcha!

It's a very cute and cozy coffee shop and there was no line when we arrived. The menu had a huge selection of different coffee and tea drinks and also a seasonal menu. The staff were very kind and patient and swiftly prepared the Vienna Latte and Hojicha Latte we ordered. The Vienna Latte is so visually stunning, the layers of white milk, brown espresso, thick white cream, brown cocoa powder and Biscoff layered on top of each other against the dark green logo was so aesthetic. Having a sip before mixing the Vienna latter was incredible, the sweet cream followed with the nutty strong espresso flavour then getting a refreshing splash of milk made a great combo with the Biscoff. I actually liked the drink less after its all mixed because it was too creamy for my taste. (I normally like my coffee black) My hojicha latte was great, but it was also too milky for me. So I went up and asked if it would taste good dirty, with an espresso shot in it, and the barista said yes. I ordered an espresso shot and instead of charging me full price, they only charged me the add on espresso shot for the drink! ($1.50 instead of $4) It was very kind of them since it was absolutely my mistake for not ordering the right drink in the first place. I have tried the Matcha Duo and Strawberry Matcha Duo, and I really enjoyed the Strawberry Matcha Duo in particular! The strawberry that they use is so yummy and has great flavor that pairs great with the creamy matcha. The only downside is the size of their drinks compared to the price, but it's worth it to give their drinks a taste! I would love to come back for their Strawberry Matcha Duo if I'm ever in the area again.

Any of their cream tops are honestly perfection and probably what makes the drink for me. The matcha itself is rich, creamy, and really smooth. I wouldn't necessarily say it's super strong, but it's definitely not weak either. It doesn't have as much of that bitter/earthy matcha taste. The drinks do lean on the sweeter side, which is kind of a dilemma for me because the cream is SO good, but it also takes away from the matcha a little. I love the cream and wouldn't want less of it, but I do wish the matcha came through a bit more. Additionally, the cup is pretty small And getting matcha here is honestly a whole DEDICATED JOURNEY. Parking, waiting in line, waiting for your drink... you have to really want that matcha. But I would 100% come back. Despite the journey and the small cup, Rōk is still easily one of my favorite matcha spots in LA.

And they are so sweet and do not rush anyone, you can stay here as long as you want. My friends and I WFH so we decided to Work From MemoryLook (WFML) one day together. I'm glad we did! Great pastries in the morning, i had the cremme brûlée donut which had tons of filling, and the pea foam matcha latte which was fantastic. And I had an EXCELLENT chicken Chipotle wrap at lunch that was recommended to me by the gentleman working at memory look. I'm not certain where these wraps are made. Another gentleman would bring them from the building in the same complex. I LOVED my wrap. They have a ton of seating outside too but there aren't any outlets out there so it's harder to WFH out there unless you're fully charged. But was great for separate meetings we all had to attend. The photobooth was fun but we were so thrown off by it taking 8 photos, we had no idea how many poses we would have to come up with hahaha. I would definitely come back here anytime!

I got the Matcha Einspanner, and it was pretty good. It tasted a bit grainy I will say. When I mixed the cream top with the matcha, the flavor was better, but I wouldn't say it's the best matcha I've had before. I would try one of their other drinks if I'm ever in the area again!

The outdoor seating area was spacious and parking was easy. It was a good place to hang out with a friend. They also have bakery items. It's a nice place if you're looking for coffee and something to eat.

[Parking]: The coffee shop has a free designated parking lot which I actually appreciate since parking is not easy to come by in this part of the neighborhood. [Amenities & atmosphere]: The restroom is located just outside the entrance and no code is needed. The cafe has a modern and sleek interior which makes this spot an ideal 1st date spot. There is a section where the cafe has various albums hanging on the wall. [Menu]: Some of the highlighted items to order here are Mason Latte, Hojicha Latte, and Brisket Burrito. Kitchen items are served from 8:30 AM to 4 PM. *** Steak Breakfast Burrito (24-hour marinated steak, crispy tots, cheddar, pico de gallo, scrambled eggs, avocado, homemade aioli, served with housemade green aji or red salsa - $21.00): I was given a buzzer only to realize it was for the food order and not the drink. The green sauce was very vinegary with a slightly spicy kick. The burrito itself was not bad as it had all the right ingredients. It took about 10 minutes for the kitchen to prepare this order. Mason Latte (Double shot Espresso, whole milk, homemade brown butter caramel, sea salt - iced $7.75): This drink had to be mixed and shaken first. A solid latte and not too sweet. The flavor was a tad light, but not bad. *** While no food or drink in particular made this place stand out among all other amazing coffee shops in Los Angeles, this is still a solid all-around coffee shop in my book. A big thumbs up on good interior vibe and easy parking.
