Came in to get a bagel. Besides the longer than average wait for one bagel with cream cheese and bacon, I was concerned with the hygiene of this place. They had a bunch of high school age kids working in the back and only one of them was wearing ONE glove to handle cream cheese and what not. The other boy was emptying everything bagels into the basket without gloves on and in plain clothes that looked to have dog hair on them. I was pretty grossed out but I decided to eat the bagel anyway, I was starving and nothing else was open. I've ordered from Bloomfield Best Bagels a couple of times recently (once on Uber Eats and once in person at the store) because I was really hoping that it'd be a solid option closer to home since I typically drive up to Hot Bagels Abroad. Unfortunately it's just been disappointing overall. I will say that on the positive side, their bagels are good and have a nice crunch to the outside of them. But other than that... the home fries were actually sad looking when we opened up the container, just poor coloring and soggy looking. The Taylor ham was minimal on my sandwich and just not cooked well-done enough for my liking. Same thing with the sausage when I ordered that the next time around. I appreciate that one get's one's money's worth here. For example, two of my favourites are the bagel with cream cheese and lox, and the Italian hero. The pricing is very competitive, and the hero, for example, is filled with meats and provolone, not the few paper-thin slices some other shops offer (at a similar cost.) I have not used delivery - only pick-up - so I cannot comment on ordering and shipping. But my rare purchase of take-away food always is here, since it is such a good value. read more

This amazing bagel shop is located right on Broad Street and has plenty of off street parking. Of all the bagel shops in NJ, this is without a doubt our favorite. I ordered egg whites, cheese on a whole wheat wrap. The cheese was melted just right. The wrap was nice and warm. I was pleased. They also have sundried tomato cream cheese which is my favorite. This was my second time at BB, and it confirmed my initial visit's vibe: stale bagels. I always get the same thing whenever I do a morning bagel: egg whites, cheese, ketchup, on a whole wheat bagel. We waited almost 15 minutes for our two orders (one was a wrap with egg/cheese, the other was a bagel) - other places, like previously reviewed Manhattan Bagel, do a much quicker service with a better QUALITY. There is no greater symbol of New Jersey than the TEC, taylor ham egg and cheese. I go to school in the south, where people think "Einstein's" are actual bagels. They have no idea what they're missing. I found out at the end of the summer that the owner, Leo, sends bagels to customers all around the US, I now make sure to get an order of about 2 dozen once a semester to show my friends what a real bagel is. The bagels are hand rolled, which means they're doughy and big, not thin and hard. Leo's willingness to send bagels across the country shows his commitment to customer service. My one friend had their veggie cream cheese, and was raving all day. I took about 10 friends there after a late NYE and everything was prepared promptly! When my friends come to visit me, I make sure I take them to stop and get Leo's TEC. I will never eat a bagel anywhere else! read more

I usually stop by this place for bagels though I always forget that a dozen bagels is $8 (I ordered 6 bagels today & paid $6, no matter, I don't eat that many bagels anyway). With the bagels I usually have no issues. It's really hard to mess up bagels being so close to NYC. Today I happened to see their "Thursday Specials" and saw they had 3 sliders w/ tomatoes, lettuce & fries for $6.50 (price not on sign). When you see "sliders" on a menu, normally you think of hamburgers on a tiny bun like what they serve at White Castle. That's what I was expecting. Apparently I was waiting around too long because one of the servers w/ a Black Reebok Spartan Finisher shirt asked me what I was waiting for. I told him I was waiting for the Sliders Special. He nodded & went into the kitchen to see the status of my order. I thought nothing of it since it was fairly busy even for 11.00 am and they were trying to fulfill orders for waiting customers full aware that the parking meter is 20 minutes for a quarter. Three to four people had their orders fulfilled as I waited - mostly Taylor Ham & Cream Cheese bagels. When I finally received my order, there were no fries. Walking back to the Specials sign, I verified the sign said it came with fries so I walked back to the counter and asked if the order came with fries. The black shirted guy asked the cook wearing a dark blue shirt and he shook his head, no fries he said. A manager looking fellow looked around for their menu for Thursday to try to confirm & their info said no fries. "Ok", with my scratchy voice (I'm recovering from being sick w/ a sore throat so I have almost no voice beyond that of a whisper) I said nicely, "the sign says it comes with fries." I shrugged then turned to walk away. One of the guys said "no problem" and went to the kitchen to cook up a batch of fries. The guy that looked like a manager said "if the sign says it comes w/ fries, it comes w/ fries." So now I"m waiting a bit longer than normal but it's alright I tell myself, they messed up the order, maybe one should NOT order from their Specials Menu...who orders Sliders from a bagel shop??? I should have checked the order when they forgot the fries but having previously been a satisfied bagel eating customer of the joint, I gave them some leeway. To be fair, the black Spartan shirt guy hooked me up with napkins, ketchup & utensils for my fries (although those items should have been in there for me to eat my veggies) & I ordered a 1/2 lb of low fat cream cheese for $4.28 knowing that my dad had recently acquired a lot of fresh salmon from Hunter's Point, NY. Finally I got my fries & headed home. No ticket & no time left on the meter! At home, I opened up my sliders to find, 2 sliders had tuna fish mixed with mayo and the other slider had egg salad on it. Shredded lettuce & 3 thinly sliced tomatoes surrounded the "sliders". The fries were hot but they weren't anything special. Was it a mistake? Egg salad & tuna fish on slider buns. Maybe it was intended but the sign didn't specify that it was a veggie platter! Who the hell eats egg salad on a slider bun? Will I eat here again? Not likely. Do I recommend it for bagels? Sure, just don't order anything other than bagels from this Bagel shop because you'll be disappointed. read more

My husband and I stopped by this bagel shop on the way out of town on a road trip. I ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel, he ordered a breakfast sandwich and home fries. To begin with the staff was not friendly, to the point of being discourteous. We understand it's early in the morning, but that's kind of the point of breakfast. They cremated my bagel and slopped copious amounts of cream cheese on it to hide the charred bagel. The home fries were bland with no seasoning whatsoever. We ended up throwing the bagel and home fries out. My husbands sandwich was decent, not great and we ended up sharing it. In bloomfield its hard to find a good taylor ham egg and cheese on the south end of town. Bloomfields Best has got it, but prepared to wait a ridiculous amount of time. And if you call it in, MAKE SURE YOU CHECK WHEN YOU PICK UP. I simply ask for them to toast my bagel every time. They have only successfully completed that request once. The staff are always grumpy, pissy, or disinterested in their jobs. And it irks me that I call in a simple bagel order 20 minutes early, just to have to wait 10 minutes when I arrive to pick up. And yet, because I didn't want to travel out of my area I would come here once in a while to get breakfast. (I look back and wonder why I was so determined to go beyond appearances. It's great to not judge but seriously, when it comes to food and hygiene-- trust your gut!) As I waited for my order I saw it being made in the kitchen. (I order food all the time as I have breakfast and lunch in the city) Touching food with bare hands is a huge no-no by those preparing it. Well you guessed it. The eggs weren't flopping onto the big metal spatula the way the cook wanted so he picked up a corner of my eggs with his bare left hand. HE even knew he was doing something unclean-- he picked it up as if he were moving a nasty spider or something! Funny, he had a glove on his right hand. And still I let that go!!!! (Not one of my brighter moments.) (I've seen customers enter a business with a bad attitude just looking to complain about something. I didn't want to be one of those people, you know.) My last visit a couple months ago was the last straw. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and bought a chocolate muffin. Later after eating my sandwich I unwrapped the muffin as I was working at home in front of my computer.... luckily I decided to look at it before putting it in my mouth. THERE WAS GREEN MOLD ALL OVER IT AND "IN" IT!!!! I went back and asked for my money back. I said nothing else. (Note: When the people who take your order and serve you are wearing bedroom slippers and all look slovenly... that's a clue.) This place is patroned by police in the area. Anyone who patrons here is either ignoring their instincts or just doesn't want to travel to a reputable bagel place. Best Bagels in Bloomfield is UNSANITARY, POOR HYGIENE, BAGELS ARE AWFUL. Bloomfield's Best has been a favorite of mine for many years. I have never had bagels that were so fluffy and doughy inside, but still have that nice hard outside from anywhere else besides Bloomfield's Best. Their bagels are perfection. I have tried other things from them- like hot sandwiches and they weren't the best. But their bagels with cold cuts are great and big!
