Don't waste your time or money here!!!!!!!! I came here less than a week ago, exactly 5 days ago and 2 nails have already broken off. These weak nails were not worth the $120 I paid!!! Not only did they do a horrible job, I spent more than 4 hours in their salon waiting for them to finish attending me because they kept taking other customers before me even though I called ahead to make an appointment! They have excellent prices, great service and are the best at listening to your preferences. This has become my current go-to for mani/pedis. It's not much to look at and you will question the cleanliness on your first visit but it's actually very clean, just a bit run-down. For pedicures they use disposable liners for the bin where your feet soak, which seems a lot more sanitary that that quick rub-down they give the basin between customers at other salons. I usually get a gel or powder gel manicure, and they last up to three weeks. The women that work there are quick but thorough, so you're not there for hours. They are also very sweet people. The only thing I don't like about Susan is some of the clientele. Women come in there demanding to be seen right away and complain if there's a wait. It's the East Village ladies! If you expect to waltz in with no wait at any salon on a weekend afternoon, you're SOL. Well, except for me... they usually take me right away. Why do you ask? Because I tip! I am always shocked that some customers will give like $2. You have to remember that these ladies make a very low hourly wage, and if they work on you for 60-90 mins, that $2 tip isn't going to help them survive. Pay up sisters! read more

This is the worst salon experience I NEVER had. I have never left a negative review, nor have I had an experience that compelled me to urge potential clientele to "stay away!". My friend and I got a great deal on Lifebooker, so we thought we would treat ourselves on a regular ol' Tuesday. We did have an appointment and we did show up late. We were asked to wait which was expected... As the shop grew busier, we were asked to move in towards the narrow hallway to wait. 25 minutes pass and two chairs open up. We got in ready position with magazines and polish in tote. After waiting another 25 minutes without so much as a peep from the staff, I went to the front room where the nail technicians were working on the hands of two girls who came in 20 after us with no appointment! I asked the woman in charge how much longer it would be. She took a look around and told me "A few more minutes." Growing irritated, I asked if she had a more specific number in mind since we had already waited 50 minutes "say, like 10 minutes?". Without looking at me she said "yeah". That's when my friend and I packed up our stuff and left. You don't need me to tell you how you should or shouldn't be treated. The main draw, they're new and were having a special with 10% off waxing. You can get a manicure/pedicure for $23 right now so head in there quick before they raise the price. They are very polite and extremely detail oriented. I feel comfortable as they take their time and unhurried if there are people waiting. Choose the OPI polishes. They stay on longer and glide on smoother than Essie. Don't forget to sit at the nail dryer for two sessions. Ugh. I have been looking for a great nail salon and thought I had found the one, and left a stellar review on Snailz that day. However, 3 days later and I am completely disappointed. I went for a fill in with gel polish on Monday and my nails looked wonderful. I was so, so happy with them and everyone agreed they looked amazing. Yesterday, they started chipping a little and I was annoyed but I was like okay, whatever. I have had positive experiences at Susan Nail and Spa. I have gone in for the $23 mani/pedi twice now and left happy both times. The staff is extremely sweet and very attentive to your requests. I had a different girl each time I went, and they both did a very thorough job on cleaning up my cuticles as well as filing and shaping my nails. I thought my color looked clean and professional, and I didn't notice any chipping until the 6th or 7th day. Its a small place, so its probably best to avoid peak times like saturday and sunday evenings. But they do try very hard to accommodate everyone so that there is not a long wait during busy times. I also like how they have a frequent visitor card, which is something I haven't noticed at other nail spas. The only somewhat negative thing I would comment on is their color selection. There isn't alot of variety--mostly different shades of reds, pinks, purples, and some oranges. read more

I've had great experiences with the powder nails here before however my recent pedicure experience was horrific. Whatever solution they use to remove callouses essentially took off the top 5 layers of my skin on my toes -- the skin is raw and ripped through and I had one of the most painful walks home of my life. Sure wish I read these reviews before coming here. Went in on the spur of the moment. Got a mani pedi and was (at first) surprised at the low price. The pedi was just a quick dip in the water, filing nails and cutting cuticles and then polish. The technician filed my skin and scraped it. It is still sore the next day. The reason I got the pedi was because my feet were sore from walking and now it is way worse! The mani was very basic, too. She cut my cuticles sloppily and now I have painful hangnails. Another person started massaging my neck when I was drying. I thought it was nice trying to make up for hurting my toe. Nope! She said " you want mini massage?" I said I didn't want to pay more. She then sort of hit on my back to finish which may have been a massage technique but it hurt. It seemed as if she was not happy I said no and banged a little too hard. There are so many nail salons. Walk an extra block or two and get better service. I'll be paying for this one for days to come waiting for the careless nicks and scrapes heal. read more

I had a great experience here! Went here to get Nexgen after months of uv gel wrecking havoc on my nails. A friend of mine recommended Nexgen to me but surprisingly very few nail salons in the city do it. All of the ladies in here are really lovely! Nancy did my nails - a fabulous job! I love them. When I came in I had very tough Japanese uv gel on my nails and she meticulously filed it off for no extra charge. It took a while to get the gel off but she did a great job. Another technician, Jane, was also doing Nexgen on the person next to me and it looked so pretty! Charged $32 for Nexgen with a free shoulder massage. Tip in cash only. Loved it here! read more
