And truth be told the husband and wife owners aren't the most "PC" folks you'll meet, but they are down to earth and a real hoot! And if you're looking for the three F's (fast, friendly, and fair) from a time of roadside diners long gone, this may be it. BLT Grill sits in a small strip across from Lake Forest Mall tucked beside the equally popular Tortacos and Phoenix Nails. It's a smallish place so many customers call in orders as tables can fill up. But the portions are far from small. The fair part of the deal. Bring your big boy/girl pants. And friend because you'll need them. It's hard to recommend one thing because everything with eggs and potatoes here is good! As a breakfast fan, I hate when places can't get the basic egg right. Try the omelettes, they're just right (not burnt nor drippy). The Meat Platter is your classic 2 eggs your way, toast, potatoes and meat of your choice. We just had the Onion Rings and wow were they great. They didn't taste like a salt lick or a basket of onion flavored batter like most places. The coffee is fresh here too. When done right the venerable Bunn still makes some of the best drip coffee ever. The only thing missing is NYC municipal water but whadda ya gonna do about it? Like I said this place manages to avoid the disastrous 3 F's of so many restaurants today: fancy, fussy, and fake! No, it's the polar opposite: relatable, straightforward, and genuine. I finally tried this place. We wanted a simple breakfast. Everything we got was amazing. I usually don't order omelets out because of the way they are huge and rubbery. This vegetable omelet was perfectly balanced with veggies and cheese. The home fries were not what I expected which was good because they far exceeded my wishes. To he bacon was the kind I like and fine well. We also had pancakes, French toast, and the meat platter. That basic breakfast dish seems like the thing because there was a great takeout business and this was the popular order. The people running the place were also terrific. Best bang for your buck breakfast place. They're quick, delicious and super filling. I've tried their omelet (western and steak and omelets) and they've both been amazing. The omelet is very generous, filling the size of the takeout box. And with the included side of home fries or hash browns, and toast, you're bound to be full. It's run by a Korean couple, they're very nice and the vibe of the restaurant is very down to earth. Definitely will never need to go to IHOP or Denny's again, this gem is better and cheaper than both. read more

This place is has been our favorite breakfast place on the weekends. You really can't beat the price for the amount of food you get. The last few times I've gone for take out the wait has been about 30 mins, but it's worth the wait. It's a small restaurant and the seats are always filled, so I prefer take out. My favorite thing to get is their biscuit and gravy platter. It comes with egg, meat, and hashbrowns. Our other favorite is their breakfast platter. I came here to try this place on a whim of the reviews. Well the are spot on and the BLT is bangin and for the price is epic. My friend loves BLTs and an uncle who is a food snob and really enjoys a good BLT loves this place. Its a great hidden gem in Mont County behind Lake Forest mall and the parking can suck but well worth it for what you get here. The owners REALLY care to see happy customers and its a quaint little restaurant. The decor is nothing special but the focus on the food. I've gone a few times now and there has always been a few people here and a couple getting take out while I dine. Just keep in mind they close early each day. read more

What small little restaurant just stoled my heart and my business ? The BLT Grill! This my 2nd day in a row going in for their breakfast. Day 1 - bacon egg n cheese sandwich...the bacon was awesome! Crispy and meaty! Today- pancake platter EXCELLENT!! The home fries are the BEST ever and my personal remedy for a hangover (pass it along) and my eggs over easy were done to perfection, which is so rare to find these days!!! $9 and am so full I am saving the pancakes for later. Did I mentioned you get a meat also...I got scrapple now that wasn't the best but it was good and the eggs homes fries and cakes made up for it!! First, time trying BLT Grill personally, but I've heard high praise for the reubens here from friends. Tried a turkey club, but switched out the provolone for cheddar. Simple, solid sandwich. Generous amounts of turkey, bacon and cheese- couldn't have done it better myself! You get two pickle spears when you ask for pickles (which makes me a happy camper!), and really satisfying, actual potato tasting fries haha The battered fries looked good too, but plain spoke to me today. This mom and pop, quick food outlet continues to sincerely amaze me with their solid, tasty food, good prices and service. Particularly adjusting to each pandemic level and still providing food services. Definitely one of those places that are hard to come by. As mentioned in other Yelp reviews, it's a hole in wall - I thought the location was a bit random. Regardless, it gets the job done. You can get a good amount of food for very low prices, which I appreciate. I got a breakfast sandwich on a croissant and it was sooo good. I love a simple meal that tastes great. Love BLT grill. You can get a platter with two eggs, meat, and potatoes for about 7 bucks. You have no business eating McDonald's overpriced dog food for breakfast (unless it's for on the go) when you can come here. A platter with pancakes, waffles, or French toast along with eggs, meat, and potatoes run about 10 bucks. Their pancakes and waffles are huge, and you get 6 large French toast slices with that platter. Everything is fresh, cooked through, and seasoned. The wings are fantastic, so flavorful and perfectly fried. My only complaint is that it's hard to call in during busy hours because they sometimes disconnect the phone. That means coming in only to be told there's a 30-40 minute wait for food. read more

Do not come here and get in a huff because they don't have gluten-free pancakes. Do not roll your eyes because they don't have vegan omelets. Do not come here and complain about the starkness of the decor or the lack of ambiance. You are here for good solid food, not for candlelight and romance. So, this is THE PLACE for breakfast anytime. If they are open, just set your GPS and go! Seriously, everyone reading this needs to try this place within the week. Here is the backstory: A Korean husband and wife ran the Woodfield Diner on Woodfield Road with a very similar feel, but they were not the owners. Business was great there, my family, with our 5 kids from ages 2 to 9, were frequent visitors, and their place was universally highly rated on Yelp and by us personally. In the meantime, we noticed at a certain point things went downhill fast at the old location, and the husband and wife duo were conspicuously absent. Although the location kept the name and menu, the quality of the food and service suffered greatly. Well, yesterday, as luck would have it, I found them again here at BLT Grill, both by sheer luck and more helpful Yelp reviews. Wooohooo! The first thing I did was text my wife, and we have already made plans to bring the whole gang here on Sunday. So now to the food. I had the steak and cheese sandwich and it was very good, although I would love it if it had 8 ounces of steak instead of 6. Their onion rings are fantastically delicious. The pasta salad should NOT be passed up. It is very great with a light but sweet dressing and crisp green peppers and other veg. They also have some fun local sodas, yesterday I had birch beer and fruit punch. The piece de resistance is the breakfast served all day! Have the waffles, pancakes, french toast or meat platter. Eggs, Bacon, English Muffins, Great food galore. You will be blown away. The portions are wonderful the food is wonderful the service is great, funny, cheerful, quick. Um, the HOME FRIES get all caps, and their very own paragraph, because they actually running his place. Everyone in MoCo needs to hit up this new little gem. A huge Belgian waffle + breakfast potatoes + eggs + three slices of thick cut bacon = $8.00. I'm in there! This hidden gem is tucked away behind lakeforest mall, by the Roy Rogers. I would have never stepped foot in here if it wasn't for a) Yelp b) my good friend recommending a weekday breakfast here.. Yes I'm a little judgy and it didn't look too special to me. But I am SO happy I came here. The waffles are the perfect combination of crisp & fluffy - a hint of vanilla (or almond?) extract gives that extra kiss of sweetness. Highly recommend! The French toast is amazing. Their breakfast sandwiches are so good and filling. The hash browns are what you'd expect, not bad at all, but the home fries are better. The eggs were cooked perfectly and so was the bacon. These meals are so satisfying! My husband ate all of his platter while I couldn't finish my pancake platter but I did eat all my sides. Pancakes were pretty fluffy but a little dry. They were huge! It is a lot of food but great. Very solid breakfast and headstart to the day. Hearty and delicious! We will be back again. read more

Worst customer service ever. I called in a sandwich order and unfortunately was rear ended on my way there. The owner called me to find out if I was coming and before I could say ANYTHING she SCREAMED (I mean really went to town) at me for not picking up my sandwich. I was so excited to see BLT Grill on my delivery list. This place has been one of my favorites for breakfast and lunch for so long. So I am very pleased to see them adapting to this crazy year. Surprisingly good food at BLT Grill. This hidden gem is hard to find, but worth it. The French toast is thick and well-grilled, it is tasty enough to eat without any syrup. The Country Fried steak is a thin and tender cut, golden fried and topped with a flavorful sausage gravy. The scrambled eggs were a little dry, other people's fried eggs looked great- I will probably order them next time.
