Their famous cornflake-crusted French toast is worth all the hype. It's one of the dishes that has been on my must-try list of things to eat in LA and I'm glad I finally got to try it. I was expecting a sloppy mess, but the coating adheres well due to the way they prepare it. The slices also stay crunchy even when they've cooled off a bunch. Dip it in their vanilla bean sauce, which provides the perfect finish without being too sweet. Don't ask for regular maple syrup, as they explicitly state on the menu they won't give it to you. Take their advice, because it would be a shame to drown it in syrup. The portion is big enough to share with 1-2 other people. We also ordered an omelette and drinks, and everything was great. The omelette came with choice of toast and a side of their signature blu(e) jam. Despite being signature, I found the jam to have a funky, off flavor and wouldn't get it again. This is a fast casual set up, an order-at-counter, take-a-number, and then find-your-own-seat sort of place. Or find your seat first, then order at your table using a QR code at your table and they bring out your food. This place gets busy, so I highly recommend using the Yelp Waitlist feature which lets you stand in virtual line even before you're at the restaurant. I walked in and it was a seat yourself vibe with minimal staff. You order via your phone through their menu which you can get via a QR Code on every table. And you pay upfront on your phone as you place your order, on your phone. It took a bit of time to get the basics, like water and such, as there are hardly anyone working in the dinning room. But when they did show up, the waiter was friendly and got us what we needed fast. They food takes about ten minutes to come out. Everything was pretty good. Nothing bad, but everything was standard and tasted decent. Not mind blowing, but good. The prices were definitely on the higher end. But again, not too high. Quick note: park in the underground garage behind the restaurant. They will validate. Also, you can try to get street parking, which I got. It's a dollar an hour on the street. read more

Really gooooooood!!!! Very solid breakfast place. The atmosphere at this Blu Jam is a lot better than the one on Melrose. They may have a long wait on weekends but they have a Yelp checkin wait list so make sure you join that. It is street parking but when we went on Sunday and the meter was free. However make sure you check and read all signs! They have an outdoor patio and it is dog friendly. It can get cold and breezy so make sure to bring a jacket. You order/pay online and they bring the food to you. I got the breakfast carbonara. My husband got the chicken quesadilla. Both are DELICIOUS and highly recommend. Super tasty and hits the breakfast spot. Portions are good but not super filling. Afterwards, make sure you walk over to Paderia and get some egg tarts (see my other review). read more

I've been here for boozy brunch and also breakfast with family. Both have been enjoyable experiences. The last time I went they had not only a menu site but you paid directly through the app as well. The waiter didn't take our order, we just put our table number in the app. It's a pretty large restaurant that expanded its outdoing dining and it gets very busy so I think sometimes the staff can get overwhelmed and service can be a little underwhelming, but the food is delicious...ESPECIALLY the JAM. Do they sell it in jars?! This is one of the few places I actually will eat the toast and jam. I am also a big fan of the salmon hash and we normally get the French toast for the table. I can't comment on their lunch menu as I've never been for lunch. Definitely a goto place in the area, just keep in mind how busy there is and that there can be a wait. Wasn't thrilled to see they don't accept cash, though I understand it makes it easier for the owners to track sales. A sign instructed me to seat myself, so I did. More time flew by, and no one took my order. Frustrated, I went up to the cash register to order. If I hadn't been so hungry, I would have left! I guess the manager could tell I was annoyed because she came over and offered me some mint water. I loved how they gave me a beautiful pitcher of it. What a nice twist on lemon water. Surprisingly, my Blu Jam Benedict ($16.95) - poached eggs on an English muffin with Black Forest ham, smoked bacon and hollandaise sauce, accompanied by grilled potatoes - showed up super fast! The bacon was overcooked, but my breakfast was still delicious. Plus, I liked the pretty and tasty added chives that graced the top of the eggs. The friendly manager was very attentive and seemed to knew some of the regulars. She even gave everyone complimentary ginger shots that were fantastic! If it weren't for her, I would NEVER come here again. All of this automated QR crap sucks. I had to go up to the cash register to pay my bill; otherwise, it would have taken forever. The interior of this place is roomy and attractive, but that one employee was a millennial mess. If you don't want to be of service, please don't work in the service industry. I had the Breakfast Cabonara, the Norwegian Eggs Benedict, the Salmon Hash and the French toast. Only giving 3 stars today for the service. When you are seated you are instructed to scan the menu with your phone, order from your phone, and pay from your phone. When the food is ready, they bring it to the table. In the meantime while you're waiting for your food, there is absolutely no service. I had to walk to the front of the restaurant with empty water bottles to ask for more water for the table. For about 45 minutes we had nothing to drink, not even the coffee or the orange juice we had ordered. The sweet cream sauce was a delightful complement to the dish, giving it a nice balance of sweet & savory. I was surprised by the generous portion size as well. On the other hand, the Norwegian Benedict didn't quite meet my expectations. There was very little salmon, and the muffin seemed a bit on the soggy side. While the potatoes were fried nicely, I found the portion size to be a bit overwhelming. The service was unfortunately quite slow. Our food took over 30 minutes to arrive after placing the order. It was very decadent and filling, and I couldn't even finish it. I had to get a to-go box. It's crunchy, and sweet (and if you even want it more sweet, you can dip it in what seems like sweetened condensed milk! Although I would recommend against this because it'll be too sweet!). The berries were also very yummy. My boyfriend got the "Simply Eggs" dish and had no complaints except that the potatoes were cut very small. And this made it hard to eat. I felt like the drinks were kinda pricy. It was about $8 for an iced latte... It was good, but not sure if it was $8 good. Not great. First off, I'm not a fan of the no waiter/waitress setup. Since I read some Yelp reviews I expected this, but I was disappointed by how long it took for us to get our americanos and food after ordering via our phone and the fact that even though each table has a number assigned to it the servers were wandering around with food looking for the right table. Another bad thing, the coffee is $7!!! That's outrageous and there should be a cheaper option if one simply wants coffee and not single-origin coffee. I don't even think they have coffee refills for that price! Pro, I liked that they had the option to add extra vanilla sauce to the French toast at no charge. The sauce complimented the French Toast well, but the French Toast was overall just good, not great. Note that they do not have syrup. It had the thinnest spread of avocado I've ever seen in my life, it was barely noticeable physically and taste wise. It was mediocre to say the very least. I could've made it at home - possibly even a better one. The bacon bits seemed old and over cooked or recooked. Copped up and thrown randomly in there, not evenly distributed. The potatoes were also cold. I was only given ONE napkin. I was never checked up on and it was so hard to get anyone's attention to ask for another one. Was here this past Sunday. I arrived around 1230pm and they close at 2. The restaurant had plenty customers. This is the first place I see that allows non-service dogs INDOORS. I thought it was ok... I added a little salt. I really liked the jam that came with my toast- not sure what kind it was. It was a dark purple so maybe berries mix ? Blueberry / grape ? Lol.. I decided it was probably fine to splurge but the uber driver delivered the wrong order and then refused to come back to my house to pick it up and take it back.
