Every time I have visitors in town, this is my go to. Why? The food is delicious, taking care of the bill (if you need to split it and handle it individually) is easy peasy - you can each place your own order, all or the items are large enough to share a bit with everyone, and the ambiance is great! Oh AND the servers are friendly and attentive! Oh AND outdoor seating is available. WIN! Came on a Saturday morning around 11, thought it'd be superrrrrr crowded but my party of 4 actually got seated pretty quickly - within 15 min. Of course last time was a different story, so it's hit or miss! But worth the wait! We tried lots of items and again, all delicious and generous portions. Large enough to share and parking wasn't a nuisance (thank you neighborhood!). Will be back of course!
Absolutely delicious. Will absolutely be back. We came at 10:30 am and waited 5 minutes to be seated. Parking in the back. You pay and tip at the beginning which I didn't like but that was the only negative. The portion size is massive so although it is expensive, you could get two servings out of it easily.
If you're heading to Blu Jam, come prepared with two qualifications: (1) a healthy appetite and (2) decent tech skills. The dining experience has changed quite a bit. Ordering is now done through your phone, or, if you're like me and prefer human interaction, you can walk up to the counter and place your order there. Unfortunately, the traditional waiter-service (although there was a bottle of water on the table) experience is gone, which took away some of the charm that restaurants used to offer. For me, that was a bit of a disappointment. Ironically, I still found myself tipping the cashier. As for the food, there were some highlights. My wife's avocado toast was excellent--fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. My chilaquiles were tasty as well, but not without issues. The eggs were cooked over easy and were much runnier than I would have preferred, and the chicken portion was surprisingly sparse. Overall, the meal was good, but the experience felt a little less personal than it used to. The food still has its moments, but I have to admit, I liked the old Blu Jam better.
Casual brunch spot. Friendly staff. We stopped by on a Saturday morning and surprisingly there was no wait time. They let us choose where to sit so we decided on the patio since it was a nice outside. You can order through the QR code on the table or go up to the cashier. I ordered the California Omelet with grilled potatoes. It was good but a little on the salty side. I also tried their Shakshuka and was pretty disappointed. It tasted like canned tomatoes with not much seasoning.
Came here during a week day morning and it was fairly crowded! We were seated right away and explained that there was no traditional wait service but instead we could scan the QR code and order through there or go back to the host stand to order. Thankfully I am tech savvy because I was feeling too lazy to go back to the host stand! The online ordering process is simple and we were thankful for a few vegan options (although more would have been great!). We got the Vegan Tofu Tostada and the Vegan Tex Mex Tofu Scramble. I particularly enjoyed the tofu scramble more for having more spices and seasonings but both were hearty, filling and enjoyable to eat. The potatoes were also tasty but on the heavier side! I got the lavender latte with oat milk which tasted great and was very rich and creamy with an earthy flavor and a subtle sweetness. The ambiance was nice but it definitely felt tight eating there. The seats were comfy but it was noisy! The service was friendly but it felt very slow and not quite attentive enough. I do like the option of dining outside, but it was on the chillier side, so we chose to dine inside! Parking is also very easy in the surrounding neighborhood, with plenty of free parking!
The food was really good and the services was nice. You order at your table through the QR code and they bring it right to you. Servers still come by and check on you even though they aren't taking your orders. Will def come back!
Always great food and great service. Tried their huevos rancheros which was amazing, perfectly seasoned potatoes complemented the eggs well. And always the crunchy French toast is a must. Great quantity. Feels like a nice cozy diner with plenty of outdoor seating as well
This was only the second visit my family and I made to this restaurant, and the second time was better. The food here is absolutely DELICIOUS! Our food was fresh, well prepared, and filling. Prices are moderate but reasonable for the portion sizes. The service offered by every employee we had contact with was top-notch. The restaurant itself is very nice and comfortable, with a relaxed atmosphere. Street parking is available throughout the area. I am unsure about parking in the rear lot, as I was fortunate to find parking in front of the restaurant during my two visits here.
The last time I tried this place was 2021 and I didn't enjoy it but I figured I'd give it a second chance. Street parking is available, first 2 hours are free during the day but there is also a small parking lot behind the restaurant, however parking is very limited. Upon entering, you're greeted by a host and have the option of sitting inside or outside. The restaurant operates on a self-seating system & you can either order your own food with a barcode on the table or go up front to the host. If you're the type of person that doesn't really want to interact too much with staff, then this is the spot for you. I ordered the Blu Jam Eggs Benedict with potatoes and it was nothing special. I had to add salt, pepper and lots of hot sauce to enjoy this meal. The potatoes were extremely bland and lacked flavor, I'd recommend ordering them with bell pepper & onions. Overall, if I'm being honest I wouldn't recommend to any of my friends nor would I go back.
I really love Blu Jam despite how long the wait is, that you can't split checks, and the fact you have to order on your phone. Blu Jam is worth dealing with those annoyances. The food quality is always good, the dessert-style items are great (crepes, french toast), the chilaquiles are a fav, the shakshuka is perfect, rave reviews for the brunch carbonara, and the breakfast burritos are fantastic. I go here all the time with my friends so I think we've eaten almost the entire menu at this point. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but the crunchy french toast is absolutely worth a try if you have a sweet tooth!
Back on the Jam! This steadily busy Blu Jam Cafe in Sherman Oaks is one I enjoy. From the friendly service to the trendy layout and extensive options #SomethingForEveryone Popped in for brunch with my boyfriend and got told to seat ourselves wherever we like - we found a nice spot on the left corner patio, but unfortunately the hostess got overwhelmed briefly and completely forgot about us. 15 minutes later after seeing two nice gentlemen, most like awesome regulars, be shown to a table directly next to us with menus, water and that incredible Blu Jam Cafe charm... I had to go wait a minute lol She was very apologetic and everyone including who I believe might be the manager did whatever they could to make up for those missed beats before. We got guided to ordering online, as you pay upfront before enjoying your meal. Though I know you can order at the front register also. While BJC's has some seriously great vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options - I'm hooked on this Spicy Vegan Tofu Hash the most and it might just be me, but the portions seem bigger than before and I'm all in! Felt a little deja vu as my other half had the iconic Crunch French Toast w/ vanilla bean sauce/syrup. Still lots of classic essentials for the table (ketchup, hot sauce, pepper, salt, plus more) and you get lots of what you need in a pinch. While this is one of their only locations that doesn't offer wine (like sparkling w/ orange to have a great mimosa) or beer, you can enjoy a variety of great juices, teas and coffees. Street parking locally off Ventura Blvd/Noble Avenue recommended, but there is a very small lot in the rear. Free Wi-Fi. Gender neutral restrooms. Great tunes. And overall great for groups, families, friends dates, pets (friendly patio), solo meals and Blu Jam fun.
A cute and casual spot for brunch! When you arrive, you can either order and pay at the entrance or scan the QR code at your table and order from your phone. They have an extensive menu, so there's something for everyone! I got the California omelette, which was solid, and I especially loved the jam that came with the bread! Portion sizes are quite generous, making it feel like a great bang for your buck. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the overall ambiance feels warm, homey, and very much like a neighborhood staple. I probably won't come back. Overrated and overpriced. First off you order through your phone and pay for it or you can walk up and order. There really isn't a personalized experience. We ordered the crunchy French toast, huevos ranchers and a latte. The French toast was awful!!! Super hard and not good at all. It didn't taste fresh at all and we ate one each and didn't eat anymore. The huevos ranchers were good and the latte was meh. I've had better elsewhere. Aesthetic, delicious and generously portioned! Came here on a Wednesday around lunch time. I always see this place with a wait time, so weekend brunch was definitely not an option for me. Although, I thought it was convenient that you could join the waitlist through Yelp and they would text you when your table was ready. I ordered the Chilaquiles (probably one of the best I've ever had), the crunchy French toast (tastes like a regular French toast but just a twist on the texture and very good vanilla bean sauce instead of syrup), and the iced vanilla latte (subbed whole milk for half&half and it was so good!) The prices were more on the expensive side for a brunch meal, however, the portions did make up for it. I think almost everything can definitely be shareable between two people. The experience dining here was very different. You check in for a table through yelp. The host let's you choose a table. Water is served right away. The menu is via QR code on the table & you order & pay through that QR code. The food then comes out to your table once ready & to go boxes are already setup for you to grab as well. We waited about 20 minutes for someone to come take our order before we finally got up and asked and were told you have to scan a barcode and order from your phone. Would have been nice and informative if the person who sat us advised us of this instead of assuming we've been here before. The last we came here was well over 3 years ago when there were waiters, so we had no clue. We also had to find someone to manually place our order anyway since we had a few modifications that we couldn't add from the phone. The whole thing is a bit inconvenient for a sit-down restaurant, but I guess this might be the new norm for a lot of places. The food came extremely quickly once we had the ordering down. The lox benedict and crunchy French toast were good. My friend got the morning hash modified to have bacon and goat cheese, and it was really good. We went for brunch at ~12pm on a Sunday. Given it was weekend rush, the 45-minute wait was long but expected. The food was good but overpriced: - Norwegian Benedict ($17.95) was a good idea but get slightly lacking. It could have had a couple more ingredients other than tomatoes, fish, and greens. The fish also did not have much flavor. - Blu Jam Benedict ($16.85) is a classic dish but felt too simple for what we were paying. -The potatoes that came with the Benedicts were crispy but I used extra hot sauce to give it a bit more flavor. -The crunchy French toast ($14.95) was yummy! It was breaded with corn flakes which made it extra crispy. The vanilla bean sauce was also novel for me and paired very well with the fruit and toast. In terms of parking, there is metered street parking nearby and a parking structure around the corner of the building. The parking structure gives free parking for 90 minutes. Blu Jam has a contactless form of ordering (use your phone to scan the QR code and order online from your table), which actually saved us some time. The food arrived after ~20 minutes. read more

I've been here quite a few times, but today was the first time since the pandemic. The food is delicious as ever. I ordered the broccoli omelette and it was fantastic. Huge chunks of broccoli and it was quite tasty. The omelette sits on a bed of potatoes and it's a great balance of flavors and textures. We also ordered an order of the crunchy French toast to share, and it was just as delicious as I remember. The crunchy topping contrasts well with the softness of the toast - topped with strawberries & blueberries plus a vanilla bean sauce, wowweee so good! It was my friend's daughter's first time having French toast, and it was definitely toddler approved! I did like that you could join the waitlist directly from the Yelp app. I didn't really like that you have to order directly from a QR code and, like how other reviewers have mentioned, you have to tip when you pay before you even get your service. After you are seated, no one really checks in on you - you have to wave down people or go to the counter for water refills or other requests. I also ordered an Americano, but when I asked for non-dairy creamer, it was a whole process. The nice thing with this is that it's easy to split the check. read more

Parking was the hardest part! Blue jam Benedict 8.5/10 - good but isn't the best I've ever had - hollandaise sauce lacked flavor - potatoes were good though! - bacon and ham were also delicious j French toast 9/10 - crunchy !! Delicious !! - wish there was condensed milk instead of evaporated milk - syrup????? Vanilla latte 9/10 - loved this so much!! - creamy and thick with refreshing coffee flavor Parking was extremely difficult here. I was lucky to park behind the store. You go through an alley and park in the back but other than that you probably need to find street parking. The vibes were great and definitely seemed like a great place to have brunch. Wow! Best crunchy toast ever. My go too morning order. Ask for extra dressing! If it's Togo order I would recommend asking to separate fruits and dressing as it may get soggy. I tend to ask for extra strawberries instead of berries but that's up to your preference. If you're extra hungry it pairs well with egg Benedict and hash-brown. Full course breakfest of kings! Indoor dining is a great option, they create a nice environment with umbrella shade tables surrounding the restaurant. If you're on the go then takeout. It's really self service kinda place which is ok if you are looking for minimum interaction from hostess or waitresses. I Recommend adding yourself to the online waiting list before going , so that it minimizes your wait time. If you don't, you'll be adding yourself to that same electronic waitlist upon arrival. Once seated you must order online or go to the counter window to place an order. Please make sure you have adequate phone signal strength as well or you will be placing your order at the window. At&t customers beware the menu may take some time loading. After placing your order please make sure you request all condiments or items needed because you don't have a server to assist you once you are seated and after food is brought to you. Perhaps they can add straws and condiments to the menu as well. As for the food, I wasn't pleased with the sandwich but I blame my taste buds. It appeared well prepared, so perhaps others may enjoy it. As for the crunchy French toast was pretty good. It doesn't come with syrup eggs or bacon so that will be added requests. Again having a waiter definitely would have been nice to ask about the recommendations before ordering. Overall It's a decent place but I won't be back, but that's because for the price I prefer to interact with people. read more

I ordered the Norwegian benedict, brunch burger, and crunch french toast. Taste: Benedict tasted like a normal benedict. Nothing special being honest. Didn't try the burgrr but it looked very appealing. The crunch french toast is the main star though. I never had this at all and for them not using syrup, it was so good. Price: Definitely on the $$ range. Service: Staff there are so friendly. Didn't know we had to sign up on the waitlist but the waittress there said we can sit anywhere we wanted soon at the time because we had a party of 5. I would come here again for the french toast. Other than that, it's just another brunch spot. read more

Today was the first time for my mom and I at Blu Jam and we loved it!! Our experience began with a kind welcome from the employees and we were directed to be checked-in. As we checked in to be seated, we were given our expected wait time thru Yelp and we were seated waaaay before expectations. We both ordered the Salmon Hash and we shared their famous Crunchy French Toast; everything tasted great, and we got our food fairly quickly considering the amount of people there. First time eating here. Interesting concept. A hostess sits you down & then the only server I noticed came up and informed us to use the QR code to not only find the menu but also to place your order. The ordering process was fairly simple and gave you options to modify the order. Before you were able to place the order, you had to pay electronically. While I did like this format. It was more efficient. I didn't like the fact, if paying by card, you had to leave the tip before service was complete. Also, how much is an appropriate tip when no server is really involved. I will be giving this much thought in the next couple days. Overall, though...The food was fresh and flavorful. The Italian Breakfast was very tasty. Broke the egg to let the yoke run over the Arborio Rice. Created a great taste. Also loved the Olive Oil drizzled along the sides. The crunchy french toast was good, but a little dry on the inside for my taste. They have a pretty diverse menu sutiable for many dietary needs & have elevated dishes you can't find everywhere. read more

LOVE me some Blu Jam! I was in the area craving this exact French Toast because honestly, I have yet to try one that tastes better than theirs! They have this new thing they introduced a bit ago, which is ordering from your seat with a QR Code or at the register in front- very convenient for you unless you're a 'service person.' It's always been a cute cozy spot & parking has always been a hassle but you'll definitely find something if you circle around. I love the "make your own omelette" option and that is what I got; it was so good that I didn't get a chance to take a photo haha! It's a bit tricky getting a hold of someone after being seated in case you need something but it's not detrimental enough to complain about. Weekend mornings can be an issue going out to eat since most breakfast restaurants are crowded, just like this place. We reserved online so we wouldn't have to wait around too long to get a table for two. We ordered a veggie omelet and a side of French toast. The omelet came with a couple of hard slices of bread which I wasn't thrilled about. The French toast doesn't come with regular maple syrup but a vanilla type of syrup. Despite the untraditional condiment and bread the food was still delicious. read more

We don't sell any alcohol at this location. Tarzana however, does and a couple of other locations.
