Food: one of my favorite brunch spots. I usually go to the one in DTLA so I was pleasantly surprised when I found out there was one in the valley. I always start with the fresh squeezed OJ, it's a little pricey but so worth it. Another must is the crunchy French toast. It's a crispy take on the traditional French toast topped with blueberries and strawberries and side of vanilla cream sauce. Today we ordered the breakfast quesadilla with a side of potatoes. Their potatoes are amazing and the breakfast quesadilla is so filling. Highly recommend all dishes! Service: you order your meal through the QR code on the table and they bring out your food, super easy. The hostess was very nice and all the waiters were friendly as well. You can put your name on the waitlist via Yelp to help shorten your wait time. Parking: they have limited parking in the back and also street parking. Dog friendly: yes! Came here for a fun sunday brunch with my boyfriend and his mom. We joined the waitlist on yelp while driving there so we got to check in right away as soon we we arrived. This is a popular brunch spot so I suggest making a reservation or getting on the waitlist advance to avoid a long wait time. They have their own parking in the back and there's plenty of street parking. We got in and got to choose our own seats. There were no waiters to come take your order so everything was to order off the QR code menu. I was talking about getting ginger shots and the host came, gave us waters, utensils, and said complimentary ginger shots for everyone. I was taken back and stated "this is why this place will get 5 stars today." We ordered: - spiced chai tea lattes (really creamy and less sweet which was delicious) - famous berry french toast (was a little disappointed thinking it would be crispy and creamy but still tasted good with their house blue jam and condensed milk) - shakshouka (this was surprisingly really delicious) - florentine benedict with side of potatoes (this has really good flavor and the potatoes were so crispy and delicious!) The servers and others here do chitchat if you like that type of service but if you are into order, pay, eat and out this is the place to be. I am not a fan of tips before the service but the service is great all the time. we've always liked the food here. it's still good. the staff are friendly. but every time we think about breakfast out we usually choose to go elsewhere because the 'order it yourself' model that was instituted post COVID is a giant step down from all the other good breakfast options in the neighborhood. we tried it again this week hoping that they'd reverted to being an actual wait service restaurant. nope mentioned to our.... table attendant (?) that we come less frequently because of this change and she suggested the only way it'll change is via feedback on Yelp. so.... here ya go. I went here with my grandma and boyfriend for lunch and was honestly disappointed with my experience since I had heard good things about this place before. Food: Honestly the food was pretty good. Like most cafes in the area, it's a bit overpriced, but it was a satisfying portion and the potatoes especially were yummy. I got the Norwegian Benedict, my boyfriend got the Brunch Burger, and I ordered a kid's crepe for my grandma. I was able to try all of them and they were all good in my opinion. I definitely think that their food is their strong suit. Drinks on the other hand.... Drinks: Sooooo disappointing!! I ordered a matcha latte that was nearly $7 and it tasted like milk (see photo). I could tell by looking at it that it would not taste like matcha at all. I'm not sure if they always make it like this, but they need a consistent recipe if not. This was straight up just milk with a dash of matcha powder. My boyfriend got an iced mocha latte and it just tasted like chocolate milk. He always orders mochas at every coffee place so he really cares about it. Hopefully this was just a fluke but $14 for 2 drinks that were just not good... :( Service: The person that helped us out was extremely nice. My grandma has dementia and will ask questions multiple times, and our server was very patient and kind. (Thank you Jenn!) However, the QR code menu/order system was a bit inconvenient. I personally like being able to order independently, but one of the items we wanted to order wasn't on the online menu so we had to go back to the front and order at the counter. I feel like someone should make sure the complete menu is available to order through the QR system. Environment: I think the outdoor decor is very pretty. My only problem with the environment is that you basically walk through a work station when you enter the restaurant. Found this little gem while looking for a brunch spot in the area. Even on a warm Sunday morning we were able to park in the back and be seated immediately. The ordering and paying through the QR code was manageable but I agree with a few others that having to tip before even receiving any service or food was off putting. Everyone at my table ordered the signature french toast and it didn't disappoint. They did a nice job of refilling waters and didn't push us out when we stayed a little while to catch up. We've been coming to Blu Jam for the past several years and the food never disappoints. They have switched over to customers ordering their meal on their own phones or a kiosk near the hostess stand which is then delivered to your table. I guess it's fine if no one is picky or has substitutions. Perhaps it's an indicator of my age but I'm over everything being on a device--I'd prefer good, old fashioned customer service. They seem to have staffing to do it and used to--some things just can't replace the human connection. read more

Not too long of a wait on a Saturday morning. My friend and i used the Yelp waitlist feature which was convenient. Once we were notified our table was ready, we checked in with the host and after letting them know we wanted to sit outside, we were told we could sit at any open table. They offer a mix of indoor and outdoor seating. We sat on the covered patio and it was nice. Once we sat down, we were given silverware and water and then left to our own devices (literally) to scan a QR code on the table to view the menu and place our orders. We tried the breakfast carbonara and the breakfast burger. The breakfast carbonara is a rice dish reminded me of fried rice (instead of risotto which was what I was expecting). It was tasty and I would definitely get it again.The burger was okay but I wasn't a fan of the bun and my favorite part was the crispy side of potatoes it came with. There was plenty of metered street parking available at 10:30 am, but parking was more scarce when we left around noon. read more

The food is beyond amazing, the staff is very welcoming and the place is always ready to serve. We ended up getting a bunch of breakfast options and sharing among the three of us. We ordered the breakfast burrito which is a vegetarian option, but you can add meat if your heart desires. The chicken quesadilla was bomb.com and you know we couldn't forget about their signature French toast. FYI, it pairs well with their home made dipping sauce which I just learned the owners/ chef grandmother used to make. :D My friend and I shared coffee from the French press which was absolutely amazing. I love that we got to press the French press and felt like baristas for a plot second. I appreciate that the water comes in a large jug which makes it easy to share and not continue to ask for refills. The patio area is beautiful and before we knew it we were three hours in of chatting and it was already noon! :o Also, there's free parking in the back, but it can be a bit of a tight squeeze. There's a long wait if you come on a Saturday morning but you can put your name down and go walk around until the table is ready! I absolutely loved their french toast with fruit, bacon, breakfast burrito, and above all, those scumptious delicious potatoes that came with their burrito. This was one of my favorite brunch places in LA! Usually there's a wait about 30-45 min unless you come towards the last hour before they close. You have to try their Crunchy french toast. It's the best French toast I've ever had! Comes with a milky sauce that is not overly sweet and topped with fresh berries. Perfect dish to share between two people or with a group. If you want something savory, try their Eggs benedict. The hollandaise sauce is delicious! Service is usually pretty good. Parking may be challenging to find if their lot is full. I've tried this restaurant twice. The environment is just ok. The food is barely ok. The first time I went there and didn't really enjoy it. After then, every time I see the good reviews or people sitting in there, I wondered maybe I just didn't order the "right" food. You know restaurants usually have their signatures and the rest is just to fill the blank space on the menu. So I decided to give it a second try. I've been interested in trying Cobb salad and I really enjoyed the one from Mendocino's, so I ordered it from this restaurant and wanted to compare them, because... this one is more expensive so it must taste even better than mendo! Turns out it's much worse. The chicken is dry and tasteless. The eggs are not fresh. They used roma tomatoes which is ok for a salad but far from perfect (it's cheap and it doesn't taste good). The mendo's Cobb salad has small yellow cherry tomatoes and the dressing is way much better, not to mention they have the flavorful and tender chicken breast. Mendo also uses higher quality eggs - you can tell from the yolk. So basically the one I got from this restaurant was like a homemade meal. You can get whatever material you have in the fridge and don't care about the quality, freshness, or even the taste. Just put it in a bowl and call it a meal, because, hey, you can't say it's bad - it has veggie and protein! It's nutritious. It just doesn't taste good. The only difference from a real homemade meal is that it costs much more than homemade (even though they used all the cheapest ingredients you can find from any grocery store). Things have changed a lot since the first time I went here. Positive change is that you can add your name to the yelp waitlist in advance which saves so much time rather than waiting in line once you get there. It's definitively still busy as ever so I'd put your name on the waitlist for sure 20 minutes before going! However, there's really no service at the restaurant anymore. As a lot of others have said in their reviews you scan a QR code with your phone, and order from your phone and pay all at the same time. I'm not a fan of this, and they automatically add a 20% tip on the check out page. Like...20% tip for what? There's no service? No one checks on you the entire time, and it took them longer to bring out a regular black coffee than it did to bring out the food. If you flag someone down to ask for something they're nice, but you can tell they don't want to wait on you and that most things are more self serve. Not the vibe I was looking for when I was taking my friend from out of town here. Thankfully the breakfast is still good, but I mean I may as well take it to go if there's no service anyways. So probably won't be a go-to brunch spot anymore for me sadly. Lastly the parking lot is really small, so you'll have to get lucky to get a spot! read more

Popped by for a quick lunch on a Sunday and only waited about 20 minutes to be seated in a cute outdoor patio! Everything is basically do it yourself now. You order from a QR code on the table, food comes out, any leftovers you can grab a to-go box and pack to take home. The hangover breakfast was pretty filling and those potatoes hit the spot!! Adding sausage and avocado to the plate further enhanced the flavor. The breakfast pasta was a complete let down. It was just a messy bowl of scrambled eggs with macaroni. I miss when this place was a restaurant. I had been here a few times in the past and remember really liking it. So my family was excited to come here... apparently that was a long time ago. First we were given a 15 minute wait time, and sat after 25. Inconvenient, but it happens. Then we were called to come in just to be shown a dirty table that we waited another 5 minutes to be cleaned (the whole time standing next to the service window where a few dishes waited that entire duration with me, but maybe those people dont mind being served cold food). There's where we learned about the service, or rather lack thereof. If you go to to restaurants and plan to have service, don't come here. This is fast casual that pretends to have class. You scan a qr on the table, and order for yourself, (make sure you learn your table number). Since it's now my job to to put in the order, I guess it's also my job to negotiate modifications. While still waiting on the drinks (that again, we had ordered with 0 interaction with the staff) en employee came by to inform us that a certain chicken dish we had ordered was unable to put the chicken on the side. Which is a bizarre issue, as it was apparently perfectly acceptable to omit the chicken. He then proceeded to argue that to ha side would ruin the integrity of the dish. I'm sorry but this can only be the staff being too lazy or too apathetic to put out a plate, and I get that everyone on staff is already overworked and underpaid (they don't even have servers anymore, the owners are so cheap) but if you cannot and WILL NOT accommodate a simple change without making it a whole show, then don't bother having a sit down "service".
