My colleagues, and I arrived this evening to a busy bar and ordered beers. A a person very aggressively spoke to us and asked us to move our chairs. She was rude, but extremely belligerent. I believe she was drunk upon asking the bartenders I learned she was the owner and she was sitting with her family I tried to de-escalate, and the family members were also extremely rude. I had not visited the Blue Anchor for a couple of years.(Covid) on Saturday evening I decided to revisit with my fiancé and told her great things! Sat at the bar ordered drinks requested the menu. Menu very limited and unappealing! A lot different from the old menu. Scanned copy of the old menu explaining the history in a tatty laminated 1 page limited menu. The brass traditional beer pumps have not been polished since the last time I visited. Shame it used to be great! read more

We haven't been back to the Blue Anchor since the pandemic shut down/stay at home order. So glad to be back to watch our beloved soccer and we were greeted like family!! We love this family business! As I mentioned. We haven't been able to get here in 5 months but they remembered our drink orders and food orders . The owner checked to see how we are doing. Probably the most under rated place on the Ave. Maybe because it is very low key and not "trendy" but don't let that fool you. It lives up to just what a pub should be, comfortable and welcoming. We have stopped in several times and everytime it has been very nice. If you are looking for good food and good drinks at a good price in a low key atmosphere....this is your place. read more

An authentic British Pub in Delray Beach? Yes please! The Blue Anchor is my favorite spot in South Florida for English pub food. Dismantled from its original spot and London, much of this pub is original. This gives this place a sense of authenticity that is a rarity in the Sunshine state. And..it is the ONLY place around for that matter that serves hand-drawn, ales. I recommend the Fuller's London Pride. It is delicious! And goes perfectly with the fish and chips. The building and beer alone didn't win them 5-Stars. The food was honestly what tipped the scale. The fish was clearly fresh, batter perfect and Crispy. (Not oily at all) Check this place out for sure. But watch out... rumor has it the bar is haunted. read more

One of my favorite bars ever! There is something about this place that keeps me coming back. It's definitely the best place to watch football (soccer) in Palm Beach County, specially Premier League games. The food is bar food, so dont expect a fine dining experience. This is the type of place you come for a drink or two, a tasty bite and watch your favorite team go for the win. Did i mentioned they serve free jelly shots for every gol made? Husband was born and raised in England, so he should know a thing or two about pubs and fish & chips. Now that we reside permanently in Palm Beach County, several locals recommended and raved about this establishment. We were enthralled by the history; however, that was tie best part. First thing all three of us commented on was the fact the carpets were disgustingly filthy. We were seated at a table by the dart board under which was a calamity of clutter. Can't complain about Guinness, the fish and chips was ok. Having family which has been in the restaurant business for generations in the USA, along with my brother-in-law that owns a well known hotel, restaurants/pub in Exmoor, any establishment that sells food should offer a clean, inviting appearance and that includes pubs. I literally had my phone pit pocketed at your establishment. After leaving and waking a few blocks, I went back to get my phone and noticed that one of your employees (that was off having beers) had two phones. One of them had my art piece as the hikes screen background (this is a 1/1 art piece that no one else could possibly have as a background) So I grabbed my phone, and called him "mother f@#$&r" since he did have my phone and never claimed it as lost and found. I was gone from the bar for at least 15 minutes. This was a tall asian man. He 100% works for you as I am friends with associates of his. He was off having beers. Be aware at all times. I am a business owner myself and would hope and pray that someone tells me about an experience like this. This is why I am writing this reiview. The place also literally smelled like there was a septic backup of some sort and it smelled terrible. I have grown up in south Florida and I truly love a good Irish/dive bar. This is a genuine review. My phone is literally 3.5 years old and I've never lost it/missplaced it. This -off the clock employee- took it from my back pocket or right in front of me. When I confronted them about it, I was harassed by your staff and patrons. I shook all of their hands and thanked them for "schooling" me on this subject but it was obviously sarcasm on my part. Came to enjoy the World Cup. Pub charged us for drinks from another group we did not know and who had left. We explained the situation (calmly) and the staff quickly pivoted to being rude and unprofessional. They do not know how to treat their patrons. You just don't treat people that way. We paid just to de-escalate the situation but this is a horrible "business." read more

We learned about this place from a local tv show called Check Please! Tried it for lunch and were impressed with the service and food. The weakest part of the meal was the fries in the fish and chips. We like them a little crisper. The onion rings were great. The broiled and fried fish dishes were also delicious. There seemed to be a lot of regulars at the bar and everyone was very friendly. We will definitely return to try some of their other specialties. read more

I was craving a proper English meal and I had been here before many many years ago so my honey and I took a ride to the far side to get my fix the day after Christmas. Our waiter came over to take our drink order and informed us that because of the holidays the first pint was on the house! Nice! Very nice! We ordered the Irish Boxtys to start, pretty much a fried mash potato balls, and that was tasty. Crunchy on the outside, creamy on the inside and not greasy. I then ordered what I had really been craving. Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding! My plate arrived and I could hardly wait to dig in. I took one bite and I could not have been more disappointed. The roast beef was thin slices of meat that looked and tasted like it was something you would get at the deli...no I take that back because the roast beef at the deli is pink...this was over cooked, slices of something. Not sure what I would call it. The gravy was salty and it tasted like jar gravy and it was on everything so the entire dish was saty! The Yorkshire pudding...well that was burnt. The only thing was that decent was the mashed potatoes (the bit I was able to taste without the gravy) and the mushy peas. No English meal is complete without sherry trifle. Again not great. It had plenty of sherry..but that was about it. It needed more custard...more fruit more something. We drove a long way for a very disappointing meal. I do so rarely give a 1 star rating, and to a bar that has actually been a wonderful experience in the past. PLEASE Do Come Here if you feel like being discriminated against.... I Have never seen customers treated so rottenly by bartenders on 10/21/18 over a "bent" ID for a glass of beer.... not too sure who they are hiring here anymore....They literally cursed the poor customers out the door. Service was a let down tonight. I had a friend in town who had been craving fish & chips, so I thought Blue Anchor would be a good spot to try. As a local in Delray, I was excited to try this restaurant for the first time. It was a Sunday night (early, before the jazz night), and very empty. We sat at the bar and ordered beer, and requested the food menu stating we were going to order dinner. After about 10 minutes the bartender did not return, and so we asked the other waitress/bartender behind the bar if we could place an order. She waived us off and said to 'wait'. We waited about a full 25 minutes afterwards trying to get someone's attention even though the place was practically empty. Wish the staff was more attentive, ended up having to leave cash for the drinks and go somewhere else for dinner in order to make it to the airport because no one seemed to want to help us. read more

The most down to earth place on Atlantic to have a drink in my opinion. The pub, which as others have mentioned was moved over from the UK, is authentic and comfortable with just the right amount of anonymity and bar-funk mixed in. We got a few pints and some delicious fried pickles and settled in for the evening. Service was quick. My only complaint was the awful playlist which totally dishonored the British pub vibe they worked so hard to create. Billy Joel and the Doobie Brothers? Get the f*ck outta here! What they needed was some Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, and Stones to perpetuate the whole British feel. Hearing "Uptown Girl" just took me right out of it. read more

Blue Anchor has always had a following (not sure if its because of the ghost or not haha), and there is a reason why! The history behind this building is amazing and the British cuisine is like nothing else I have found nearby. They have everything from bangers and mash to fish and chips and more American offerings like mac n cheese, chicken fingers, burgers, etc. The bar menu is extensive from porters to cosmos. You can't go wrong here and it is a Delray staple. The staff has always been accommodating, helping with food suggestions, having knowledge behind the building itself and just being friendly. English food even at its best isn't very good, and Blue Anchor certainly proves that to be a fact though they do have passable fish and chips. However, for the other specialties, such as Shepherd's Pie, you can certainly do better elsewhere; any Irish Restaurant is superior in that respect. The reason for going here is basically to be in a 19th Century "look alike" English Pub with an outstanding beer selection and a rather delightful English Pub atmosphere. Every detail of the exterior and interior evokes the style and traditions of the English Pub. We went down to see the Arts and Crafts on Sunday, January 15. It was a beautiful day and we saw a sign for "Warm Irish coffee " to go. We went in to order and they were very busy. We walked up to the bar and we approached by a older lady wearing a snowman sweater. She was very spastic and never smiled. I said can we get the Irish coffee to go and can i taste this beer. You would have thought I had asked her for a loan. She rolled her eyes and poured me a taste. I said I'll take it and she said well I'll just put it in this cup....these cups cost 27 cents. I said ok. The beer rain out and she said you can have this one since it's not full. She continued to say I'm not sure we have another keg but I'll check. I said no problem and she went to check. She came back and said if you want to wait a few minutes I can change it out. I said ok. Fast forward 10 minutes after I had seen this same old lady be very very rude to other customers on this busy day, she came back to me and said , "here take these 3 glasses full of foam, I don't have time for this and I wish you would have chosen a different beer." I was in shock!! You treat customers like this in this economy? As I left with my mouth open a few asked me what I was drinking.....I told every single person who asked me where I got it and to never go there. If Mrs. Snowman doesn't like working with people.....maybe she should go work in a Morgue. There she does not have to be nice or talk to anyone. I will never ever go here again. Tried for the first-time last night. I was so disappointed; The Menu was not what they advertise online at all. The service was horrible, the waitstaff was the worst I've ever encountered. Three of us ordered Fish and chips. One person received their food and the other two waited another 20min. to receive Thier's. I ordered a Rare Burger, and it was so well done and dry I couldn't eat it. The server was nowhere to be found. I ordered a Johhny Walker Black on the rocks and received Scotch and water. The best part of the meal was the French Fries. We will never go back!! PS: this mess was $105.95 w/o Tip!! read more

I keep hoping that the Blue Anchor is successful. I even purchased a gift certificate when things began to close due to virus in Delray. Therefore I am really disappointed to see that masks seem to be optional for staff. I take health guidance seriously so I won't return or recommend this restaurant. read more
