BBC (est. 2017) is an excellent coffee shop located in the Bradbury Building. This store location on Broadway is impressively massive with contemporary interior design. I feel like we're in MOCA. Everything here looks neat and organized with large windows and abundance of natural light. We came late afternoon and was warmly greeted by a male staff. We decided to grab Green Tea to quench our thirst. It was bloody perfect! Every sip brings refreshment. BBC has a rear book library for customers to read or purchase. Prices seem fair. I loved coming to this location off of the corner of Broadway and 3rd Street in DTLA. It appears during the weekdays, this place opens at 630am. I ordered a typical coffee and delicious Avocado toast. I did like the fact that they gave me the coffee in a glass cup. However, I think in the future, I'd ask for it in a paper cup for portability. Although I went to the counter to pick up my coffee, they were definitely willing to bring it to my table. In fact, they brought the Avocado toast to my table. We came to see the Bradbury Building and decided to stop by Blue Bottle Coffee right after. I had some boring matters to attend to in DTLA. I live in a town that borders LA County and Orange County, so going to DTLA is an arduous journey, especially considering the traffic, crime, and parking. When I finished my errands, I needed a caffeine kick to keep me awake for my journey back home. I was craving matcha, but I also wanted to try good coffee. Blue Bottle has a good reputation, so I opted for this option. I couldn't decide on my choice of caffeine...tea or coffee...so I chose both! I ordered a regular Matcha Latte and an Iced Cherry Blossom Latte. I've found that most shops sell matcha lattes that contain matcha syrups that are much too sweet and lacking in the bold flavor of the tea; however, this matcha latte was wonderfully bold, yet smooth, with a crisp finish. It tasted like the smell of freshly mowed grass. Natural and herbaceous. The iced coffee was smooth-not a hint of acidity. I don't know what cherry blossom tastes like, but I liked this iced latte. Usually, floral syrups are too sweet and taste like perfume. This syrup had a light sweetness that reminded me of almonds and grapes. I also ordered a cookie which I wouldn't do in the future. It was pretty lackluster and synthetic. I could tell it is mass produced, rather than baked in-house. If I am ever back in the city, then I would stop by this place again. I got a cup of Bella Donovan blend (hand pour), and ever since it has been my to go. It is not strong, smooth, and with no acidic taste. Compared to the hand pour from other places, Blue Bottle offers the hand pour at a slightly lower cost. All the staff at this location are always very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The staff recommended me Bella Donovan after knowing I prefer coffee with no acidic notes, and I truly enjoyed it. This location can be busy, but luckily the wait is not long. 4+ Nice, spacious Blue Bottle Coffee location in the heart of DTLA right across the street from the Grand Central Market and next to / attached to the Bradbury Building. Coffee here is consistently good and the people were friendly. I came in the afternoon, so it probably wasn't as busy as say the morning or something like that. Ordered a latte and it came out pretty promptly and was well made. Great location in terms of being in the heart of a busy area in DTLA, but not so great personally - in terms of thinking about going to the area and finding parking. Definitely a great spot I would hit up if I was in the area and wanted my caffeine fix or if I had to work or have jury duty in the area. Had a wonderful first visit here this weekend! It was nice and quiet inside and super spacious. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable but definitely short staffed when we stopped by, even then we were given great customer service. I ordered their version of a cortado along with the pumpkin loaf, and all of it was delicious, and as expected, we also ordered Affogatos and that was so beyond delicious. We were visiting the Bradbury building lobby and decided to stop in at Blue Bottle Coffee to grab a drink. This location is also across the street from Grand Central Market. I ordered the Iced Matcha tea with whole milk. Service was great. While waiting on the drink, I took in the space. I liked that they preserved some of the architectural elements of the Bradbury in the space. My iced matcha was ready in a jiffy. I tried it and it wasn't too sweet so I went over to add some simple syrup in it. I appreciate that they have simple syrup and not just sugar packets for cold drinks. The worst is when sugar clumps in a cold beverage. Great spot for coffee or tea. The dining area is clean and spacious if you're looking for a place to do some remote work. Decaf latte was so good. Tempted to go back and buy the beans. Place is clean and nice, great for a coffee date, and then you can take a walk to the Bradbury building where Justin Timberlake shot one of his music videos. If the date continues to go well, make it into lunch and walk across the street to the Central Market. Place would also be good for studying. It really annoys me when businesses rip customers off. As a patron of coffee shops, I expect to pay for coffee, not milk. I was dissapointed to learn that they use a double shot espresso as the default regardless of the size of the drink. It's more dissapointing that blue bottle has a great reputation of a specialty coffee shop yet doesn't add extra shots on larger sizes without customers asking for them. If it were a restaurant or bakery offering coffee as a supplemental item than I'd give it more grace. But how can they honestly think a 16oz latte is well balanced with only a double shot?!?! Baffling 2nd complain is the customer service of the cashier. At the very least they should acknowledge the customer when they enter or approach the register and take their order. At the very least. But no, this one didn't make eye contact when I approached the register. Kept his head down fumbling with paper and then turned his back to me, leaned against the bar and continued to fumble with some sort of paper before stepping away and returning. Only when he returned did he acknowledge my presence. Again, at the very least state "hi welcome, I'll be right with you" if they can't take an order at that moment. I get we're in LA and most people aren't friendly but a chain like Blue Bottle shouldn't depend on their brand recognition for returning customers. My last critique is tbe sustainability deception. They have signs near their trash bins stating everything is compostable yet when I asked the barista for a regular trash bin as I didn't have compostable trash, she advised me the signs were outdated and we can toss all trash in their bins. Again, most people don't care like I do so they'll toss their trash regardless, but this really disappointed me. Oh, also that they don't offer mugs for dine-in customers. On a positive note, their winter latte is good (if you ask for it in an 8oz cup) otherwise it's too milky for my palette in their 12oz. I appreciate that it wasn't too sweet either. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Aesthetically, the downtown location is spacious, with great amount of seating. I liked the book wall with the "cubbies".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Compared to the malibu location, if I wanted indoor seating, I would go here. But for outdoor seating, look somewhere else.Also good bar flow of where to order and wait for your drink vs where to enjoy your drink[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Lastly, this is downtown so prepare to drive around or pay an extra $20 just to park. But this is out of their control. oh ps. it's in the beautiful Bradbury building so if your time allows, check out the design of the building's lobby overall, I probably won't go back to either location. It's like the starbucks of specialty coffee. Not welcoming and the espresso drinks are only good if you really specify how you'd like it brewed. read more

HOT CHOCOLATE is also good - per the kids... I love the fact that this is one of the few places in Downtown Los Angeles that opens early in the morning.
