Once seated Brandon, our waiter, added an extra touch kind very informative not to mention his professionalism. The Cherry on top of this whole experience was the dishes. We asked Brandon of all the appetizers, which was the most popular. He told us without a doubt. It was the shrimp dumplings. So we followed his lead and ordered the shrimp dumplings, and the crabcakes. Both were phenomenal and light. You didn't feel full after eating them. Oh, and for my bread eaters, the bread was Light and Airy, the butter no less amazing. When I tell you Blue Fin gets a nine out of 10 for food, service and ambience. The only reason it's not a 10 out of 10 is because I never give a 10 out of 10. My first restaurant visit in New York City in a long time! Right outside of many of the Broadway theaters. We had a reservation and we were able to get in very easily around at dinner time. Service was excellent the entire time! We ordered a lot of sushi as well as some of the side dishes. Everything was top notch! Definitely would return for a very nice dinner. A seafood, sushi restaurant that knows how to cook a good steak as well. Wow. What a wonderful dinner we surprisingly had at Bluefin. "Surprisingly", I say because it was a last minute dinner choice heading into New York 30 minutes before their closing. Located inside W Hotel in Time Square, we had a late arrival and simply wanted to catch a bite before heading to bed. Even though they were close to closing, Blue Fin was graciously so accommodating. Per our waiter's recommendation, I ordered their Sea-bass. Amazing. But what also stood out to me was their ribeye and wagyu. Simply cooked to perfection (even if it was perhaps their last order of the night). Their Mac n cheese and calamari was also so good. Thoroughly enjoyed each plate so very much. My only regret was not saving this meal later during our trip to enjoy more. I will definitely be back next time I visit New York. This restaurant is truly hidden. I can't believe how many times I must have walked past it in the heart of Times Square. I visited with my family, and we had a table for three. The food is delicious; I ordered the prix fixe menu. The highlight for me was the first course: the Lobster Bisque. It was perfectly made and served with plenty of lobster.The salmon was good. The Butterscotch Bread Pudding for dessert was remarkably amazing! I highly recommend saving room for it, because I'm not sure it would be the same if it weren't served fresh and warm. The service was great, and our waiter was super friendly and helpful. This place is definitely a hidden gem. I also tried the sushi, which was excellent. We did have a minor hiccup with my sister's scallops not being fully cooked, but the manager handled it well and removed the entree from the bill. Overall, I would return, especially to try sitting at the bar for happy hour. What a fantastic happy hour experience at Blue Fin inside the W Hotel Times Square! We were staying at the W and needed a quick, delicious bite before heading to musical theater, and they absolutely delivered. The food was incredible. We devoured the mini lobster rolls, perfectly steamed edamame, flavorful crab cake, and those truly memorable tuna poke tacos. We arrived for our stay at the W on Tuesday, 5/22/26. We arrived in the early evening and decided to have dinner here. Fast forward to the middle of the same evening/early morning my daughter is throwing up and has not stopped having intestinal problems as well and it's now Thursday evening. We all ate the same thing except she had 2 pieces of Nigiri. She's the only one who got sick, trip has been ruined, she's has not left the hotel room. We've been going here for years - what an absolute gem, and the opposite of a tourist trap right in Times Square. We shared four small plates - the sea bass bites, the cauliflower salad, the bang bang rock shrimp and shishitos, and the baked oysters. Everything was flavorful, interesting, and impeccably made. The upstairs was very spacious with plenty of room downstairs as well. Lots of sushi options and menu variety to appease any appetite. The food was creatively done, especially the Seabass bites. The presentation was superb and the complexity of different ingredients really was a highlight. The mini lobster rolls were a nice touch as an appetizer, but probably was better described as lobster sliders instead. A side orders of asparagus was very good as was being topped off with thick cut bacon bits and a fried egg was a creative touch! Although the other side of brussels sprouts were served with a healthy portion, I was disappointed that they were not roasted in much to use soft which left it quite bland. The Chilean Seabass was good, although the portion was very small. Interesting, the ribeye was a good size, but not very thick although it was cooked very well with a nice sear. For the price, I don't think it was a good value, especially with so much competition nearby, but the food was above average although the portions were small. I am also a little disappointed that there was no recognition for my son who was celebrating his birthday, until we actually left when the hostess greeted him. I specifically mentioned that we were celebrating his milestone when making the reservation. While most restaurants would offer some complementary dessert, I was only hoping for some type of recognition during the meal. read more

My husband had sushi and I had the sea bass entree. We shared the cauliflower au gratin and the Brussel sprouts which were tasty but a smidge undercooked. I also ordered the shrimp cocktail and that was heavenly. Our only complaint, if you want to call it that, was the server described the freshness of the fish as "better than Red Lobster." And she pointed out 4 specific seafood dishes noting that "out of these dishes, 3 have been sent back." We weren't sure of the point she was making. I've never known wait staff to specifically tell us that food has been sent back. Maybe she gets commission if she sells this particular food? It was just odd. We went to Blue Fin on a Thursday afternoon. There was no wait but the restaurant was pretty busy. The service was good, nothing exceptional and food took a while to come out but they were friendly. The food we had was edamame and two sushi rolls. Both rolls were very good, they did not have a huge selection but they all looked great and were very fairly priced. We enjoyed the magic dragon roll and the Godzilla roll. The ambiance was very ince, the restaurant decor was fitting and pretty. We waited for a long time to get a drink. Not sure why. I had a glass of white wine. It was warm and barely drinkable. I tried another and it was ok but still warm! Sushi was served on a boat and there were also bruschetta and pork belly and shrimp. The pork belly was so salty it was inedible. Shrimp were quite limp. The sushi was so poor quality I did not even finish one piece. Poor start. The entree was the salmon on a bed of quinoa. I really wanted to like this place. What I did like was its proximity to the theaters. It also has the option of a prixe fix dinner which is a good value, but since I'm not a big dessert fan i decided to order something else. I came here with 3 friends and we ordered a bottle of wine. After waiting 20 mins for it and not being attended to in those 20 mins, we were told they no longer have it. We asked our server if she had anything else comprable she lacked knowledge of wines and of the restaurant's selection. We ordered another bottle and the lobster bisque, crab fried rice, and Mac & Cheese to share. The lobster bisque was salty and had minimal lobster meat. The crab fried rice was ok, but kind of greasy. The Mac and Cheese was also ok, watery, but edible. Our waitress was painfully slow and at one point just altogether stopped coming around to check in on us. We had to hunt her down to order a coffee and the check. Overall, it was my least favorite dining experience I had in NYC's theater district. If you could avoid coming here I would. There are better options just plan ahead and make reservations. read more
