My friend and I ordered the prix fixe menu a few days ago. The lobster bisque was creamy and filled with shredded lobster, and the salad kept surprising us with the vegetables we kept finding. We both had the filet and loved it. The accompanying mashed potatoes and asparagus were perfect. We each ordered a different dessert. The chocolate cake was too rich, almost bitter (to me), but the butterscotch bread pudding was amazing. We both enjoyed that until we just couldn't eat another bite. I had not been back to Blue Fin in a few years and looked forward to returning. The restaurant is attractive and comfortable. Our server was great - ahead was helpful and friendly, and readily accommodated our special requests. The food was inconsistent - the sushi was (as I remembered) excellent - their signature rolls were great - I particularly loved the Broadway Roll; many flavors - all of which melded quite well. The cooled offerings not so: The seared blackened scallops simply didn't work, although the concept was interesting. The salmon was a bit dry and overcooked. My wife ordered the pan seared Salmon and Brussels sprouts I told Charles my wife were sharing. Meal. Several minutes later offered bread . Gave us Hawaiian rolls lukewarm. When entrees came out there was no extra plate. I had ask for plate. The waiter did not come by to se if everything was okay. The carrots were under cooked. I couldn't cut the carrot with my knife. I stopped one of the servers to complain. After 5 minutes Charles came took carrot back and 5 minutes later given cooked ones. The sweet potatoes were under cooked and very little sauce. This place calls itself the crown jewel of NYC. That's hard to believe, unless the jewel itself was cheap and synthetic quartz. The restaurant woos you with its trendy, upscale interior, a mere facade of the second-rate food and service... I ordered the sea bass bites, lobster bisque, caterpillar roll, and bluefin roll (no bluefin nor tuna, unfortunately). The first thing I noticed was that there were no complimentary foods of any kind, which is disappointing to say the least. Every "fancy" restaurant has one, from low-levels like Olive Garden to extremely fancy such as that of Gordon Ramsay's. The sea bass bites are good, but small for their size and the title of being "sharable". The lobster bisque was the best-tasting, with good flavor and creaminess, but the lobster bits were low-quality from the legs. The rolls took roughly 15 minutes to come out, AND they gave us the wrong order (there was barely anybody else in the restaurant, how unorganized they are). The fried soft-shell crab and shrimp, in the caterpillar and bluefin rolls, respectively, were stale, as if they were fried before I even ordered. The flavor, at least, was good, not great. Overall, this place is lackluster for its price tag. Do not recommend unless you like disappointment. read more

I was craving for sushi, what a disappointment! back in the day it used to be to be great, i guess when it was ran by Mr Steve Hanson whom he knows how to run and take care of business. The maki rolls were bland and not tight enough every time i reach out for one they all brake apart, the ones that contained tempura shrimp in them, horrible! The shrimp was cold and chewy like a piece of cardboard not close to tempura!!i guess the sushi chef had them sitting there for long time or they cook a bunch of them ahead thinking that they would get busy. And i can keep on but i let the chefs and and managers to take carenof their game. The icing and cherry of the cake who knows how the kitchen cleanliness is if the bathrooms reflect/define clean, they're worst than a gas station!!You be the judge. Made a reservation for dinner while I was between my broadway shows. My table was ready and staff was friendly. The menu was lacking with limited options, poor descriptions of what some items were. The restaurant seems confused if it's an upscale seafood restaurant or a sushi restaurant. We order all sushi wish was good but nothing to get excited about. i've been wanting to go to this restaurant for a while finally made it tonight and I'm glad I did. I had the salmon and Greek salad. It was very good also a baked potato with everything on the side and a chocolate diva cake which was outstanding the decor upstairs was very comfortable and nice and I really like the lights that look like jellyfish decoration. wait staff was nice. I will say that overall I enjoyed my dining experience; however, at the end, I visited their restrooms. They were abominable. I recall some head chefs saying if a restaurant's restroom is not clean and nice, leave immediately. These restrooms were some of the worst I've been in. Limited supplies in the stalls, not super clean, and only one soap dispenser had any soap in it with all of them rust covered. Please take care of this. It was an otherwise lovely evening. read more

Called in reservation at 1:30 pm for a 7:45pm dinner, stating that it was for our wedding engagement that day. Not a single person acknowledged our engagement and were sat at a lousy table (especially for a pre set engagement reservation). The restaurant wasn't busy so no good excuse for the lousy table. Also they charged my pregnant girlfriend the same price for her mocktail as the normal price of that same cocktail. $17 for a mocktail with no liquor?!?! That's tacky! Food was good but felt a bit rushed at the end of the night. If your restaurant says that it closes at 9pm, that means that's when the kitchen closes at every other restaurant in NYC. We found this place by accident walking on Broadway. Upstairs is very quiet so different from the crowds on Broadway. Oysters Bienville was very good. So was the sea bass with crab add on. Nicely decorated for Christmas and I loved the jelly fish lamps over the stairs. The staff was warm and friendly. Perfect place for before a Broadway show. The scallops on a bed of roasted tasty kernel corn were excellent. Just liked hanging out there. read more

We had dinner here this past week and it was amazing! All of the food was delicious- we had salads, sushi and steak ! Everything came out in a timely manner and it was exciting to be right in time square but the best part of our experience was the waiter, DARIEL he was absolutely amazing! I came here for dinner/presentation on a Thursday night around 7 PM. Our presenter had reserved a room for us so I was taken up there after arriving at the restaurant. The room was a bit cramped but set up well. We were given a lot of time to sit around and chat before the talk. Right before it began, the severs came around to get our orders. It was a prix fixe menu. For appetizers I got the spicy tuna roll, for the main a filet mignon and for dessert a chocolate lava cake. --SPICY TUNA ROLL: Pretty average, nothing too amazing. --FILET MIGNON: Server never asked how we wanted our steaks cooked so mine was very unevenly cooked. It was pretty raw in the middle and outside was medium well. Flavor wise it was ok, a bit too much salt sprinkled on top. The side of kale/onions/maybe butter was pretty oily but not bad in terms of flavor. --CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE: Ok flavor, a bit too flour-y for my taste though. The espresso ice cream it came with was delicious. Service itself was ok, not really the friendliest waiters nor most efficient but they got the job done. All in all, though the talk was great the food and service were fairly average. I probably will not be finding myself coming back again. read more
