We had a really good experience here. Shelby was our server and she was very friendly and attentive. I had the brisket tacos wife had the steak quesadillas. We had the queso with chips which was delicious. So. Had the kids tacos. He was not a huge fan but he can be picky so I don't fault the restaurant for that. Sigh. I want to like this place. It seems like it could be a nice local watering hole. The service here is hit or miss, leaning heavily on the "miss" side. The host staff is generally competent and cheerful and eager to seat. The folks bringing chips and salsa out are almost always out immediately after being sat. Most of the servers are polite and food will come out on time. There's a tall African-American busser who is by far the best employee the place has; very cheerful, very professional, and always willing to help a guest. The problem is one of the bartenders - I don't know her name, but she is on the shorter side, and Hispanic. She's waited on me multiple times, and every single time, the service has been horrible. Most recently, I came in a few days ago (Friday, the 26th, I believe). I sat in the bar and waited for about 5 minutes, watching her serve her guests at the bar. She finally came over and took my drink order. I then waited another 3-4 minutes while I watched her cashing out guests, taking their orders, etc. Finally, I just walked out. It's obvious she only cares about her guests at the bar, and that taking the tables in the bar area is an afterthought. Sure, everyone has a bad day, but she's like this every single time. To the point, I've walked in other times, seen that she is working the bar, and turned around and left. The times that she has waited on me, there has been no follow-up, and I've had to ask for refills, etc. Again, either she's an all-around horrible server, or she only cares about her customers at the bar. Reading through other reviews, many guests have made the same comments about her sour mood, and/or her lack of follow-up or attention provided to guests. Blue Goose - why is she still working at your restaurant? This place has the potential to be a great restaurant. The food is tasty, especially the fajitas. We were pleased with the food and service. The waiter took extra care to make sure some of the dishes were gluten-free. The manager stopped by tables and kept a very friendly atmosphere -- it was nice seeing that all the employees got along and were happy. Amazing service at the front entrance they were so friendly, it was a relief honestly. Such a welcoming staff, the manager was making sure ppl were taken care of we almost got two sets of chips and salsa that's how much they care! Only complaint - their website uses OpentTable, and when you call to make a reservation it says that they only accept it through OpenTable. We had a movie to watch right after dinner so made our reservation through OpentTable. When we arrived and checked in at the host stand, they promptly said that their system doesn't communicate with OpenTable and we would have to add our names to the waitlist. This should be addressed ASAP. Despite that, we were able to find seating at the bar, and the bartender/server was super accommodating with expediting our order. They even guided us through the menu to avoid items that take longer to prepare. The chips were thin and crispy, and the food was delicious. The only comment for our small group was that the fish tacos had too much sauce, so you may want to order the sauce on the side. read more

Great experience. We love Bkue Goose food. Excellent salsa, the queso is THE best, they have IMPOSSIBLE tacos and lots of other good stuff. At this location, we received the best service we've ever had. When we walked in we were greeted with a smile from Christina and the manager, Brandon who was making tortillas and greeting customers at the same time. Our server, also named Brandon, was perfect. A beautiful smile, a sweet spirit about him, and came and went quietly at the perfect times. We couldn't have had a better experience. I'm a business development manager for Mexico and living in DFW. Of the 32 states in mexico, I've traveled all except 1(Chiapas). I know Mexican food. I was skeptical of Birria tacos with dipping sauce because not common in DFW. My father lives near Hatch so I know Hatch Chile. I was blown away at how authentic and great tasting the tacos were. The presentation set the stage for what my brain was seeing and what my mouth was about to taste. To top it all off, the GM Joseph checked on us to see how we were doing. This is typical only in white table cloth restaurants. The GM shared the history, the name, the chef, staff, and how carefully food is prepared. Today we decided to try something new, we were around the mall and decided why not the Blue Goose Catina. 1st impression- It was clean, the host was great, it was busy and it smelled so good. We had to wait 10-15 minutes but it was a short wait compared to most. We were seated promptly, our waitress came by and did not introduce herself, but asked us what we wanted. She seemed rushed and very flippant. We had not been here before so we weren't quite sure just yet. She gathered up our drink order, and walked away. Every time she stopped by our table she ran off as fast as she could. We finally settled on our food choices, I got cheese enchiladas, my husband got flautas. As soon as she got our order, she immediately took them in years unless the table. Right before my husband was going to ask her if they had elotes, I said to him that we would just try to catch her when she came back. He managed to catch her right before our food came out, the food was excellent. Everything was cooked perfectly, and tasted great. In fact if the service was better I could have easily given it five stars. The prices were Fair, our ticket came out to about $35 between us. That's the two main entrees one side and two drinks. They had a bloody mary bar available for brunch as well on Saturday and Sundays, we were somewhat curious about it but unfortunately our waitress was not around enough for us to actually speak to her about it. We later found out how it works, it might try it the next time we stop by. As far as our server goes, her name is Brittany, she was not outright rude, but I understand when a restaurant is busy and there is a lot to do. You want to manage your time more efficiently. But stopping by and immediately leaving and coming off as somebody who doesn't care what you say. And kind of hurts the perception of the restaurant. read more

Good fajitas and margaritas. Just wish the bartenders were as good. The young lady behind the bar was very rude to the customer sitting next to me, saying "come on buddy, it's not that hard" when he delayed in answering what sides he might like with his dinner. The shocking part to me was that the bar wasn't all that busy at the time and she could have given him a few seconds to decide. As with most Mexican restaurants they bring you chips and salsa. Their salsa was flavorful and chunky. I like that. I ordered the taco salad with fajita chicken meat. I've had a lot better elsewhere. The taco bowl was kind of soft, not sure if they refrigerate it or something., and the salad was a little smaller than what I'm used to. On the bright side: their ranch was pretty good. They brought us complimentary sopapillas:-) It was very nice. Great dessert to end our meal. Sopapillas were coated with cinnamon and sugar and a drizzle of honey and whip cream:-) I really don't know if I would come back. First thing ... Staff was outstanding. Five stars if I was writing about the staff alone. Table was sticky I think with salsa residue, and we asked for a clean up but I think the hostess forgot so we ended up wiping it down ourselves with wipes I had in my bag - Score having a toddler so I had some wipes in my bag- Food quality wasn't there unfortunately in a market with a lot of tex-mex options. My hubby got some serious stomach issues from a quesadilla which doesn't normally happen. The biggest concern we saw was the beer cases lined up outside of the bar along the other side of the wall. We watched as a kid no more than 4 nearly grab bottles out of the boxes a few times as they were getting up to either use the restroom or leave. As well there was a door to the patio that someone could have slipped in and grabbed a beer easily undetected. I'm sure there is some rule against having the beers so easily accessible but we played it to that they had just gotten a delivery and hadn't put it behind the bar yet. I'm sure I might give them another shot at some point, given its the only texmex place I know of in a mile proximity to the mall and movie theater a but after first visit I'm not going out of my way for it. read more
