What a great key west setting, lots of shade, live music at brunch time, generous portions and good food. The special was a lobster grilled cheese sandwich, lots of lobster, but not much "melty." Hub had banana pancakes, they were the size of your head. Over all it was a great stop. Just beware, parking is a problem. read more

Amazing atmosphere (assuming it is not raining) but the food is just ok. Benedict sauce is nothing special and they don't come with potatoes or anything else but a small piece of fruit. Service was fast but finding a server to get coffee refills was impossible. Seemed rushed. Last two times I went they were better but I guess this cash machine is more interested in just raking it in! read more

Beautiful environment for outdoor bar, even the bar across to wait was a great touch. The gifts hope had beautifully hand painted wine glasses, and cats roaming. We loved the banana bread. Our breakfast otems and key lime pie was all very mediocre. read more

So many people recommended this place when they found out I would be traveling to Key West so it was a must-visit place for us. We walked from our hotel (approx .5 mile) to the restaurant for brunch on a hot Saturday morning. This place is probably just a block or two off Duval St. Once we arrived, there were tons of people standing around so we knew it was going to be a decent wait. I believe our wait was :60-:75. We went across the street to a little spot (forgot the name of it) to grab a drink, sit, and wait. Finally it was time for brunch and we were seated outside, which is exactly where we wanted to be; however, with the wait they had, we were taking whatever first available would be. The outdoor area is large with plenty of tables to serve small or large parties of people. It is made up of brick pavers and wood chips to walk on with plenty of roosters around. There are lots of trees and umbrellas to shade you from the sun on a hot day too (as it was this day). I knew I wanted eggs benedict... they had 5 or 6 to choose from. I decided upon the BLT benedict (which was Bacon, Lobster, and Tomato) since it was an out of the ordinary benedict with lobster, something different from what I could get back home. The benedict was served with a small bit of fruit comprised mainly of cantaloupe and melon (both of which I hate). The benedict was very filling and wonderful! I had also ordered a mimosa... they were not stingy on the champagne with their mimosas; however, I wasn't feeling the mimosa and ended up getting an iced coffee. The iced coffee was perfect... I ordered 2 more with 1 of those to go. We stayed up late the night before so I wanted all the coffee. :) I definitely agree that this is a place to hit when visiting and would recommend to friends visiting just as people recommended to me but be prepared to wait. I'd be willing to guarantee that there is always a wait for brunch unless you arrive upon opening. read more

We ate breakfast here and it's quintessential key west vibes. A lot of eggs Benedict on offer. Chickens everywhere and some tables are in the sand. We were on the patio and it was like being in a little jungle cafe. Service was good! Coffee was decent. read more

Awesome service and food. We had to wait an hour for a table, reasonably so because this place is always busy but it was worth the wait. I had the snapper sandwich with pickles, slaw, and yellow peppers. There's a spot across the street to grab a drink while you're waiting! read more

Be prepared to wait. But I have no regrets and it was soooo tasty! We had the lobster Benedict and the lobster omelette. The lobster was so fresh and some of the best I've had. Great ambiance and a fun spot. read more

Send someone ahead of time if you have a big party. The bigger the party the longer the wait time. Took us 20 minutes for a party of two. Rosters are all over the restaurant so you will have plenty of opportunities to take pics for the gram. The staff is very friendly and quick to place your order. Came here on vaca because it was recommended. Should have read the menu because it is not very large and it was quite pricey. Everything was edible but nothing on the table was noteworthy. The only thing that was flavorful was the sauce on the shrimp (which were over cooked). It was our only meal in key west after a day going to dry Tortugas and I wished we had gone somewhere else. read more

Blue Heaven has a great atmosphere with live music. I ordered the pork tenderloin and thought it was fine but nothing exceptional. My daughter ordered the lobster dinner and said that it was amazing. $85 for the two dinners without appetizers, salads, alcohol or dessert. read more

We went to Blue Heaven on Father's Day about 9:30 AM and had about a 30 minute wait. There is a waiting area where you can sit and/or drink just across the street from the entrance. We asked for first available seating and got a table outside which was classic Key West with hens and baby chicks walking around the grounds. I got the Eggs Benedict with ham and my husband ordered the Rooster Special. Both of us were very pleased with our orders. The waiter was friendly and attentive. In addition to the good food and service, there was a band who played appropriate music for Key West. All in all, we had a very pleasant experience. read more

Two locals recommended this for dinner. It was one of the best meals I have had ever. Food was very fresh, beautiful presentation and tasty. I had the surf and turf which was a pan seared filet with Red Stripe beer and BBQ shrimp. The yellowtail pasts was fabulous as well. The special salad and lobster app did not disappoint And we practically locked the plates clean. Seating was outdoors but with multiple large fans was not too hot. Will be back for sure. read more

Nice place for brunch. Had a delicious special which was a lobster bacon omelette and it had plenty of both. It included a slice of banana bread that was really good. Enjoyed their take on the key lime pie. It's a lighter version as the top is a foam cream on the traditional key lime layer. Dined outside and not sure if there is indoor seating. It's all well shaded with large umbrellas and tall trees. There's some live music and a nice bar. Definitely worth checking out. read more

I really really really wanted to like this place. All the reviews enticed us to eat here and it turned out to be the most disappointing restaurant in Key West. First I'll talk about the good: The outdoor patio area is really cute. It is surrounded by trees and reminds me of the Adventureland section of the Magic Kingdom. Now the bad: We came for dinner and it was pouring rain when we were seated and we sat at the bar. I don't mind rain as long as they take the right precautions to make sure the food doesn't get wet. Well sure enough all of our food arrived completely soaking wet from the rain. Gross. And the staff all had umbrellas so I am not sure why an umbrella couldn't be used to keep our food from getting wet. That is unacceptable and the food should never have been served that way. We ordered the scallops and the shrimp appetizers. They were both very small for the prices. Small wet portions. Don't be fooled by the "side of corn muffins". They are tiny and dry. The food wasn't particularly tasty either. Probably because it was diluted by the rain water. Our server was pretty standoffish. Maybe she didn't like we didn't order alcohol? Who knows? We had been very eager to try the key lime pie and we saw people ordering slices. We took two slices to go. Once slice of key lime pie costs $11. Eleven dollars. Eleven dollars. Eleven dollars. For a slice of pie. The pie didn't taste great either. It was very eggy and we couldn't taste the key lime at all. And I make key lime pie regularly at home. I could make an entire pie for $11 or less. I can't recommend this place. I don't know if the positive reviews are from people who are too drunk to notice that the food isn't that good and is served soaking wet. I recommend Santiago's nearby instead. read more

This was definitely the best food we had during our trip to Key West!! We went with a large group on a Friday night around 9:30pm and were seated fairly quickly. I got the BBQ shrimp entree, which was so delicious! We also got the scallops and conch ceviche to share. The scallops were SO good we had to place a second order; we even asked for extra toast to eat with the sauce. Our server was very attentive and friendly, and I look forward to coming back the next time I'm in the area!! read more

I really enjoyed the ambiance of this restaurant. Set in a courtyard lush with greenery, it gives the feeling you are in an entirely different place. Our waitress was very good and the menu with the specials offers enough to choose from. I had the grouper special and my husband had the jerk chicken. Overall, I thought the food was worth 4 stars and not quite worth the price. I am glad we ate there because as I say, the ambiance was so nice, but I don't think I would go back because we've eaten at better restaurants in Key West. read more

Over-hyped, this place is super busy on weekends, the food is good but not great, and definitely not worth what they charge. The wait can be an hour, when they have tables open inside and out. There were tables inside that never had anyone sitting for the entire duration that we were there (we sat at the bar - first come first serve). The breakfast platter with spicy sausage was ok, best thing about this were the potatoes. Sausage was something that comes from the freezer section of a grocery store. Bacon eggs benedict was good, but was still hungry after I cleaned the plate. And the worst deal of all, the key lime pie. It was pretty good yes, but the pie itself is very small. The meringue makes up the majority of this pie, and they charge you $10 for it? No thanks, never again. Not worth the pain parking, waiting, and price for standard food you can make yourself at home. read more

You don't have to drive to get here. On Sept. 19, 1992, Blue Heaven Restaurant cooked and served black beans, rice and fish to its first lunch customers on painted picnic tables under a tropical almond tree in its outdoor dining area in Florida. The outdoor courtyard is paved with the slate pool table tops from the days the downstairs of the building operated as a billiard hall and ice cream parlor. A dance hall, a bordello and a playhouse have occupied the second floor of the restaurant s location. Breakfast items include pancakes, seafood and lobster benedict, granola, omelettes, fruit cups and a la carte items. Lunch items include soups, salads, sandwiches, fish, tortillas, vegetable plates, cheese steak and desserts. The food comes out relatively fast although they're insanely busy and it's efficient.. It's not a place you lounge around with a lot of people - eat and get out, because there is a line waiting to be seated no matter what day what time. These servers really hustle too. This place is also known for its coffee which they have a lot of different varieties iced and hot and it's absolutely top-notch, pair that with some fresh baked goods and you've got yourself one hell of a start to your day. I've always loved Evelyn's for breakfast or Sarabeth's, but this place blew it away in my opinion and I've been coming here for 15 years for work. This is my absolute go to breakfast place for you yelpers if you're interested - I don't think you'll be disappointed!!

Then she rudely confronted us about waiting to check to see if they had anyone on a list to be seated. It then took about 15 minutes for someone to come take our order. The waitress who finally took our order was taciturn at best, barely speaking to us. I asked for cheese on my bacon, egg, lettuce, and tomato breakfast sandwich. She suggested cheddar which I eagerly agreed to. I also asked to have cheddar cheese on my grits. My partner asked for a poached egg and corned beef hash. She asked that the whites were not runny at all and the waitress seemed to scoff at her. When the food finally arrived everything looked great, but my sandwich had Swiss cheese on it and the grits had American. Though it was very tasty. My partners food came out perfectly. The short of it is the food was amazing. The service lacked hospitality.

After living here for over 2 years, we finally decided to suck it up and wait for a table here for breakfast... 35 minutes on a weekday. Went to the bar and had a too spicy bloody mary from the busy bartender. Finally sat at our table (all of which look like they've been procured via dumpster-diving.... cheap) and chickens are scuttling around. I know this is normal here and didn't care, but for those that think this is great atmosphere... have you never seen these filthy animals projectile poop 2 feet out?! Not while I'm dining, thanks. Overall, the whole eating area looked to be in shambles and falling apart, minus the bright and funky artwork. Can only imagine what the kitchen is looking like. Server did the bare minimum and looked like he rolled out of bed. Bf ordered the lobster hollandaise for $20 which he liked, but he thought was very comparable to harpoon harry's, nothing crazy. I had a breakfast sandwich (kinda cold) with potatoes (flavorless) and we shared banana bread (yummy but greasy) ...all of which I make better myself. I had leftovers and wanted a box. These cheapasses gave a plate and a piece of tinfoil. How you make deliveries like that, I don't know. Overall, this place needs some serious help. Idk how they pass health inspections. Everything was mediocre at best, and overpriced. Skip the hype... 5/5 atmosphere doesn't = a rundown shack-farm with plastic furniture. i wonder if people who think its so amazing have dined at a real restaurant before. My family and I have been going to Blue Heaven for over 10 years. Tonight we had the worst service experience at a restaurant that we have ever had. Claude D was our waiter. He failed to describe the dinner specials. He failed to clean the table after the dinner service prior to dessert. He failed to listen and take a dessert order. He failed to actually express any personal attention or care about our table. Typically our orders at Blue Heaven range from $200 to $300 or more. We generally always have good service and tip 20% for the effort. Tonight with the absolute terrible wait serivce by Claude D we tipped 10% which was way more than deserved for the terrible service. Claude D actually had the gall and audacity to follow us into the parking lot to question the tip! What a schmuck!!!! Although the food was good as usual, the service has fallen off in the last year or more and tonight was absolutely rude and terrible!!! After 10 years of patronage we will not set foot in this restaurant again! read more

This place has MASSIVE potential to be all inclusive but just isn't. It's almost 2024, you can literally just carry a beyond burger or an impossible burger patty, can be frozen, lasts forever in the freezer, and will open up a huge portion of the menu to plant-based eaters. Instead, there is literally nothing on the menu that does t include animal body parts or their secretions. We sat at the bar for about 20 minutes, said hello to the bartender, she didn't acknowledge us, never came and took our order. We were going to at least get a beverage because we waited about a half hour for seating, but that never happened. We were never even acknowledged, we walked over and got our own menus , while we sat there waiting, but, we won't be back unfortunately. We will check back in the future online and see if the menu has changed and give it another shot if so. read more

I can tell you there was not 1 slice left behind and everyone was raving about it, and that is just their pie. We walked into a outdoor space that was as comfortable as your buddy's backyard... if your buddy had cool live music and had put up some fabric shades. Hubby had the yellow snapper sandwich and I had a lobster Benny. His sandwich had a mango slaw, which we later learned had been mainly locally sourced. The sauce was creamy and it came with bits of corn, tomatoes, onions that was delicious in the sauce. It's served over pasta which was also great with the sauce. The grouper's sauce was also delicious. It was light, but flavorful. The key lime pie was good! Beware of iguanas, while enjoying breakfast over our much anticipated fourth of july holiday, a huge iguana and tree branch fell on the head of our terrified companion. Our vacation ended at the hospital where the traumatized teen received shots for the scratches she had all over her torso as the frightened reptile clawed its way off her. Most health authorities will not allow a DOG into a restaurant....a dog who normally sits quietly next to its owner. Highly over-rated place but the food is pretty decent. I'm vegetarian so I tasted the omelet and the pecan pancake and even though it was good, I wouldn't kill for it. The wait takes forever but the good part is that you can call and put your name on the list. This is a favorite with locals and visitors alike for its terrific food, great service and true "Key West" historic setting - the building was a bordello in the 1930s and if you dine upstairs you can see the little rooms the girls used. To a person everyone enjoyed their food. They have a seafood platter that is a very generous portion of fish, scallops, and shrimp that was delicious. Highly recommend. Also got a side of steamed mussels: wow, they were nice meaty mussels in a delicious wine sauce that was perfect for dipping the two pieces of cheesy toast that come with it. They have a virgin version of most of their cocktails, and i can highly recommend the virgin mango daquiri. Key lime pie for dessert was delicious. I'd definitely go back and have recommended it to my friends

We were a party of 15, all seated and ready to order our meal. Drinks were already ordered. Not delivered. One of the young girls (three years old) was having a moment and crying. Her Dad tried to calm her down. Took her away from the table. The owner or manager, an angry man with horrible people skills, actually threw us out and insisted we leave. We are a respectable family and have NEVER been asked to leave any establishment. A complete disgrace. His concern was that the Dad of the little was rude to his staff. When the Dad asked how so, this angry man would not answer. Maybe it's time for him to retire??? Terrible situation. We will never, ever be back. Very sad.

All of the flavors blended together so nicely, each bite bursting with flavor. 10/10 dish. We also tried some items of the HH menu, such as the truffle fries and the smash burger, and enjoyed those as well. The star of the show was the breakfast though. In addition to the great food, the restaurant is right on the water, beautiful view of the ocean. Many days there is live music, and we had great customer service most mornings. One exception- our last morning our food took 3x as long, and was cold when it arrived; seemed to be ready much earlier, but service decided to deliver it the same time as 2 other tables, that sat wayyyyy after us. They are also dog-friendly and cater to your furry friends (they may even get to see Reggie the rooster walking around the restaurant). Can't wait to visit Key West again just for the Nashville chicken and waffles!!

I'll admit, at first glance I thought this might be one of those touristy waterfront spots that survives mostly because of its location. I was wrong. The bartender pointed us toward a couple of dishes that he said were favorites, and he absolutely nailed it. I had the local catch of the day with vegetables and a chimichurri sauce that was incredible. My husband ordered a pasta dish that the bartender said was a staff favorite, and he loved it. The food was excellent, but the bartender really elevated the experience. He was funny, easy to talk to, and knew the menu well enough to steer us in the right direction. The waterfront location doesn't hurt either. We arrived tired, hungry, and not expecting much. We left talking about how good the meal was. The fish was, in fact, off the hook.

Forced gratuity & dismissive attitude: They automatically added an 18% tip to the bill. When we asked to remove it due to the awful service, the server offered zero apology, blamed being "too busy," and dismis us with a rude "whatever."
